Check-in at the office the front desk ladies were very inviting and friendly and was very smooth as we filled out the paperwork online. Sitting in the lobby was very bland and boring to say the least as there were not magazines or even a tv in the waiting area. Once taken back the medical assistant was friendly and helpful before being seen by the doctor. Once we were seen the doctor introduced himself to us and got the breakdown of the history and complaints and offered his suggestions for referrals after just doing a simple exam (just pressed on my fiancés stomach while he was still sitting in the chair). While the doctor already knowing we were there for a work related accident follow-up he then proceeded to ask if he had ever considered weight loss surgery. Like what? How is that related to what we are there being seen for? Furthermore, in the medical history it was mentioned that my fiancé had a traumatic accident which is is still dealing with and you want to suggest an elective surgery? Completely changed his mood at the end of the visit. It is to note that while the insurance scheduled this appointment 2 weeks in advanced they called a few days before that they hadn't received necessary paperwork to see him. Why wasn't this completed when the insurance reached out to you to schedule the appointment? We also were bounced around to different doctors prior to coming in as doctors kept refusing to see him. First one dropped the day before (Seriously?) and we were called to see another doctor, then when our lawyer called to check on the change we were referred to yet another doctor, until finally we got another one who is the one we dealt with during this visit. Overall, a complete mess and I am glad we do not have to return to this INOVA office. read more

I told Dr. Svetska that I was in pain after three prior hernia surgeries and wanted to cure the pain. I advised that I'd had hernia surgeries before, but that the hernias had not shown up on imaging. He then proceeded to order imaging, and didnt see anything. He refused to operate. I had to see another two surgeons, the latter of whom finally agreed to operate and look for the cause of my pain. He found it and resolved it. Dr Svetska was patient, kind, and professional, but was unable to find what turned out to be a fairly simple issue to resolve. He can learn a lot from the doctor I wound up seeing through Medstar in Brandywine, MD. Sad story but true. Find a doctor who is willing to go the distance to help you, with/through his or her expertise. Dr Svetska, unfortunately, is not that doctor. read more

There was a breakdown in communication that should make this a 4 star review, but I promised Chris that I would give him 5 stars if he got me out of the hospital the same day as my surgery, so here we are. The care I received was exemplary, the surgery with Dr. Scriven went well, and the aforementioned Chris (the PA) was also helpful and answered all my questions. The only negative was, when I was in the emergency room waiting to be admitted to the hospital, I heard 'we will keep you overnight, monitor your numbers, and plan a way forward in the morning'. Imagine my surprise when the nurse came into my room saying 'we are here to take you to surgery'. I got things sorted out, but the communication disconnect was jarring, and caused me some concern. Chris and Dr. Scriven answered all my questions at the followup appointment, so full marks for that as well. read more

I've been holding off writing this review in hopes service and care would get better over time but each encounter since Nov 2018 with this practice seems to get worse and worse. Surgical expertise appears adequate depending on who you get but post patient care is Terrible. No compassion and anything that does not seem to lead to another surgery is dismissed or marginalized. Some of the staff to include some nurses improve things but not enough to offset the negative. I would strongly encourage looking for an alternative. read more

The surgery process was ok except in the consultation or at the procedure no one explains you will be receiving 4 different bills from the doctor, the anesthesiologist, the operating facility and the lab. $20K paid by me and insurance for double hernia in which a single hernia tear was identified. The Billing Manager is a piece of work, you ask her to explain all the charges, payments, and credits and she says you'll have to ask your insurance company or look at the invoices submitted. I usually don't write many reviews but have been compelled in this case. Have no complaints against the doctors that work here but if you don't want to be overcharged exhorbitantly, please stay away from these people. There billing practices are definitely medical mal-practices if not outright fraud. I was charged $450 for an initial "consultation" plus another $350 for a small incision and then yet another $550 for a minor surgery. It's to be noted that the so-called "initial consultation" was akin to "here's what we would do" followed by doing that and charging $450 + $350 for that small incision. If you think these amounts are "reasonable" as they claim, they would love to have your business. I tried hard discussing with their billing people, only to be threatened with collection. They will get my money no doubt but I feel its my duty to warn other unsuspecting folks. read more

I came into the Inova Fair Oaks Hospital ER and it was found that I had appendicitis! Dr. Rubino was assigned to perform my appendectomy. From the beginning I really liked her! She is very professional, detailed, calming and answers all of your questions! I felt extremely confident having her as my surgeon! My surgery went great and at my post-op visit she impressed me again! She helped me fix the issues I was having with the surgical glue, answered my (100) questions and gave me great advice. I would recommended to anyone without hesitation! If I ever need any other surgical procedure I know exactly who I will be going to! read more

I was seen in the hospital by Dr. Sanders for diverticulitis. When I was going to be released, he told me to schedule a follow up in two weeks where I would schedule a colonoscopy. I assumed that he was a Dr responsible for colonoscopy and overall general area the entire time. At my appointment, he had no idea why I was there, and when I told him what I wrote above he said, "oh, we can refer you to the right dr". I was livid. The appointment was in the middle of the day so I had to take the entire day off of work, then on top if that I spent more than an hour in the waiting room. All of that for an appointment that I didn't need? If he was not the proper dr, why didn't he refer me to one who was? The entire appointment was annoying, and it truly felt like a scam appointment just to be able to charge me and my insurance company more money. At the end he said that a nurse would come in and give me all of the paperwork I would need, including instructions for when I had a colonoscopy, and that the practice's proper dr would schedule my procedure without needing to see me. A few moments later the nurse came in a new said that she had no paperwork for me, and that I should fill out the colonoscopy questionnaire on their online site. She said that once I did that I would be contacted in a couple of days to schedule everything. When I went online I learned that I had already filled out the questionnaire two weeks earlier when I scheduled my appointment, but I had not received a call or any further information. Medical bills are outrageous, and this practice seems to just want to milk more money out of me, not actually care about my health. I have been thouroughly disappointed with the practice. They sent me a survey to fill out, which I tried to use to add the above information. The survey comment section was too limited however, so I was unable to add the full text. Competent drs. Long wait times.

I had a horrible experience. After a 40 minute drive and $30 copay the Doctor only spent 8 minutes with me. It was my very first visit. I was referred by another physician because of my condition. I was told by the Doctor within the first 2 minutes of my visit that it was my fault I had the condition and if I lost weight it would go away. No one who was smaller ever had the condition. I was literally shock and dismayed. I felt like I was slapped across my face. I drove away in tears. read more

I had two very good experiences with this office. Dr. Richard Brenner was my doctor for both my procedures, and he is wonderful. One of my procedures was called a Nissen wrap for a hiatul hernia. It changed my quality of life. He is a great surgeon. The staff are all very nice, and I never had any billing issues. I would highly recommend this practice. read more

In 1996, Dr. Savoca became part of our family as he & his team saved my father from colorectal cancer. For years my father & mother would talk highly of Dr Savoca. I had a Laparoscopic Nissen Fundoplication with Dr. Brenner. I had an excellent experience! I would recommend him for any surgeries. Dr. Brenner has an exceptional staff. Everyone took extra time to ensure all questions where answer. They went above & beyond my expectation. Dr. Brenner is extremely knowledgeable and has outstanding bed-side manner. The Dr I love the most is Dr Savcoa he saved my life no matter what my concerns are he's always there to put my mind at ease. When I was diagnosed I've interview so many doctors, I did a lot of research on him even though I'm further I said let me see what he has to offer. I don't regret my decision at all. the moment I layed eyes on him I said this is the man who will save my life and avoid me having a permanent bag. We got our chance to interact with Virginia Surgery associated Dr at the Inova Loudoun hospital. The Dr didn't show up for full 12 hours and it delayed our hospital delay by an additional day and costed us an additional day at hospital. Also Dr. personal visit was less than 5 minutes and didn't answer any questions of our problem. If I have a choice will not use the Loudoun hospital and Virginia Surgery in future. read more

I was scheduled for surgery on my gallbladder and I had a lot of pain on the other side of my back. So I did what was right and called the nurse. I have been seen by my primary doctor about some numbness in my face and I told the nurse this. She made me go back to my regular doctor get an EKG and my regular wanted me to get a CT scan of my head and I asked if it could wait until after surgery. My doctor said yes and the Virginia Surgery Associates disagreed. I spent a lot of time working this out with my work for this surgery. They should have made me get an EKG and bloodwork prior to the surgery like most people have to but they didn't require anything. I would never recommend them to deal with. I am most likely going to have to have my gallbladder out as an emergency soon instead of a scheduled surgery which would have been much better. I will probably lose my job because of them with the emergency surgery. I would have been willing to sign a waiver but they did what they had to do. I recently had an operation through this office and couldn't have been treated better. Everyone from the receptionist all the way through billing were professional and friendly. My doctor, Dr Barry Walter, was very professional and made me feel if I were his only patient. His staff ensured that I was aware of everything regarding the procedure. The day of the procedure, several of the surgery team members came in to introduce themselves and explain their role. The nurse checked in frequently to ensure I didn't need anything. The procedure went very well, and I was able to return to work much sooner than estimated. I must give a special thanks to the nurse during recovery. I don't remember, but my wife said I had asked for water at least 10 times, and she was very pleasant each and every time, at least that is what my wife told me, as I only remember asking once. Later I received a card from the staff signed by all of them wishing me well. I went back today for my follow-up, and again all of the staff was professional and very friendly. I highly recommend them if you are in need of surgery. read more

After being diagnosed with having gallstones, I was referred to Dr. Richard Brenner for a consultation. He advised me that gallbladder removal surgery was my best option. As this was my first medically necessary surgery, I was a bit uneasy/nervous about the procedure. However, I could not have asked for a more personable and compassionate surgeon. Unlike some medical professionals, Dr. Brenner did not appear at all rushed during my consultation nor my post-op appointment. He carefully listened to my medical history of multiple drug allergies and tailored my surgery to avoid antibiotics and narcotics (to which I'm allergic). The surgery was performed with no complications and one week later my incisions are healing well with minimal pain. I would not hestitate to use Dr. Brenner again.
