For example, they want you to stop all consumption 6 hours before just arrival at their office, which is at least 1 hour before anesthesia and surgery. This is opposed to the advice of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. According to their current guidelines, most healthy patients should stop drinking liquids, including clear liquids, around two hours before their scheduled anesthesia time. Therefore, I conclude that their instructions are more suited for the comfort and convenience of their doctors and personel, as opposed to your own comfort and well-being while prepping. So I would advise patients to seek other sources for prep instructions and make your own decision in your best interests.

In the pandemic I lasted 3 days submerged in a bathtub to alleviate my discomfort and from there I was left with part of the vein on the outside. My family doctor recommended the site and I chose this doctor (Caroline Sanchez) because she spoke Spanish and I could communicate better with her. However, the treatment was basic, not interested in my pain or my problem, and she told me that only the next time I was in so much pain (although obviously I wanted to find a treatment or recommend internal examinations, since I had prenatal damage to the intestine, uterus and urethra and all my problem stemmed from there) I call and would ask for an appointment (as if they would give it to me for the next day) and she would make a cut to drain the vein... and that would be all. I would never go back to this doctor.

After getting a feeding tube to compensate for severe, failure to thrive, motility issues I was…read moresent to Dr. Savoca for consultation to see if I would need to have my colon removed. Before and after I was given the feeding tube I was given no information or instructions of what was going to happen or how to take care of it. Dr Savoca provided me with more information regarding my condition which was undiagnosed for years. On his own without letting me know, he had his nurse Amy try to track down a hospital with a Nuclear Medicine department which could perform the test I need. With much work she found Georgetown is the only place that performs this test. I was shocked when I got the unexpected phone call about the test as I thought my doctor/patient relationship wasn't to continue seeing as I didn't need to have my colon removed. I can't say enough about how shocked I am that a doctor went so above and beyond to see to my care when he no longer needed to see me for treatment. I told Amy I would put him on Christmas card list!!!
