If you find out after you've paid, they won't credit the mistake back to your card; they'll apply a "credit" to your account forcing you to come back to use it. It pains me to write this review because the folks at West End Veterinary Clinic have always been nice. But they have a real problem. I don't think the folks who work there are intentionally overcharging -- I think it may be their point-of-sale system. We have 3 reasons why we have to find a new vet despite this convenient location and the nice folks who work there. 1) They told me to hold off getting my puppy spayed, well after she was able to get pregnant -- despite knowing she would be at risk. By the time our puppy came in for the operation, they discovered she was pregnant, which caused an extra $600 worth of problems and heartache for our family. 2) They double-billed us for a cone while our puppy was recovering. I spotted the mistake, called, and they wouldn't refund the money. They offered a credit instead -- forcing me to return to them if I ever want to see that money again. 3) On the second visit (vaccines), they billed me $67.76 for a heartworm test I declined and which was never performed. Has any business ever made a billing mistake in YOUR favor? Me neither. Once could be an honest mistake. Twice in 2 visits -- well -- you decide.

I have four kids, and foster regularly. When I foster I pay the vet bills and use Dr. Mason (owner) or Dr. Rubi, and don't worry about the price because I always get the VALUE. Both vets are great at educating me (and I know a lot after being a dog and cat mom forever) and I walk away with everything I need to keep my pets comfortable and as healthy as possible. I took a hospice foster in just yesterday and Dr. Mason spent over an hour with us, sent me home with a supply of everything I needed, and my bill was HALF what I expected! Today my little foster was feeling much better and we owe it all to West End!

My puppy almost died this weekend due to the advice given by one of the doctors there. (I know how…read moredamning a bad review is, so I'm not going to name names.) The advice she gave was so basically wrong - I should have listened to my gut. I had brought in my 10 lb., 7 month old puppy due to bowel consistency issues he'd experienced over the last 2 weeks. She advised that he go on a prescription high fiber diet and also some probiotics. The food, she said, should be started right away, and there was no need to wean him off of his current food. I gave him 1/2 a cup that evening and 3 hours later, he started vomiting, and did so throughout the night. In the morning, there was barely fluid left in this poor dog, and he was vomiting bloody tissue. Long story short, at the ER he was stabilized and discharged, then re-admitted 4 hours later for worsening symptoms. He's home now, but still not out of the woods, going on 5 days now. The straight introduction of that food into his system was catastrophic. Everyone knows that any food change you begin with an animal should be done gradually. So basic. SO wrong. My poor dog. It's not about the money (THOUSANDS spent already) - I would do anything for my pet. I've just never experienced such negligence by a medical professional in my life. This doctor is dangerously unqualified!

They told us that he was being playful and had us feeling like our pup was doing better. They gave him fluids and then some medicine to take home. His issue did not get better, but have gotten worse and when I called to get an update on what we should do next and was told I would receive a call back. They called my fiance and she expressed our mutual frustration. And was told "this is the level of care you paid for". I'm sorry. If you take your kid to the er and all you can afford is a set amount and they do no more than that to help him feel better. How can they say they care about our pets when it feels like the employees may care but the business does not. Would not recommend to anyone. *Update* still have not heard anything back from partners regarding this matter. We got our pup into another vet and found out his kidney numbers are through the roof. He is going in today for treatment.

Just weeks after losing our 13-year-old yellow Lab, Waylon, in July 2025, Bodhi--who grew up with Waylon--began showing signs of sadness and developed an ear infection. Though his initial treatment went well, we noticed he still wasn't himself, which led us to request further tests before a planned trip. That's when we received the devastating news that Bodhi had spleen cancer. From that moment, everything moved quickly. Bodhi was admitted to the ER and then ICU, where he stayed for several days. It was an emotional rollercoaster, but the kindness and compassion shown by every staff member--from the front desk to the ICU--helped us through it. Special thanks to Dr. Pierre, who cared for Bodhi daily with extraordinary patience and empathy. Knowing Bodhi was clean, comfortable, and treated with such love made it easier to leave him, even though it broke our hearts. On August 30, 2025, we said goodbye to our sweet boy. As much as we hoped to bring him home, we know he was in the best place possible--receiving the care he needed, including medication during a seizure that we couldn't have managed on our own. Bodhi fought hard, but in the end, he let us know it was time. We told him how deeply we loved him and that it was okay to go be with Waylon. Losing both our boys so close together has been unbearable, but we take comfort in knowing we did everything we could--and that's thanks to the exceptional support and care we received. We are forever grateful. With love and thanks, Gracie & Aaron

I strongly do not recommend this clinic and would give zero stars if I could…read more My boyfriend brought my girl in for an infected cyst on her shoulder, accompanied by lethargy and a fever. Instead of addressing the clear infection, the vet, Dr. Burke, tried to diagnose her with gastroenteritis--despite the fact that she had no vomiting or diarrhea to suggest that. I can only assume this assumption was made based on her breed (Great Dane), which is completely inappropriate. We approved necessary bloodwork, which came back fine, but they still failed to address the actual issue. They prescribed antibiotics and sent her home without even cleaning the infected site nor offering pain management. She left the clinic still covered in dried blood and pus. To make matters worse, her records were filled with errors and inaccurate information. Having previously worked in a veterinary office myself, I know how records should be documented, and these made no sense. When I called to request corrections, the response I received was dismissive at best. Edit / Update: My girl has since been seen by her regular vet, who discovered multiple pockets of infection that developed because the original wound was never properly cleaned or clipped. What began as a small, treatable infection has now spread across her entire shoulder. She has been in pain, and the stress this has caused me has been overwhelming. All of this could have been avoided had Dr. Burke taken the time to actually listen to our concerns and properly examine her, rather than jumping to an unrelated and irrelevant diagnosis. At her regular vet, she was immediately cleaned up and properly treated, which revealed the true severity of the infection. I've attached pictures--some from UrgentVet and some from her regular vet--so you can see the difference in care for yourself.
