    Great mural outside Virtuous Cycles

My hubby needed the sprockets on his Schwinn bike adjusted so we stopped by Virtuous Cycles. While we waited adjusted them. We were also able to get a cell phone mount for his bike. This is a great local bike shop that offers good service. They have a buy back bike program that we will look into next time we buy a bike. There is plenty of parking and they have loads of accessories for any bike rider.

Packed at Virtuous, arrived safely in Tampa.

I went here dozens of times during my four years at Purdue, and I never once left the shop disappointed.

Road, Mountain, Trail and Triathlon are all here, and prices are competitive for a full-service retail store. Probably have 200 bikes on stock at any given time. Basic clothing and a good spread of accessories for the sport rider and commuter too. A smattering of camping and climbing gear exists but for these guys the bike comes first last and always. The thing that sets HBC apart is that it is a serious bike store, not just a bike shop. Yes, it has a great guy running the place, just like the other shops. Yes, they have their quirks and a history that runs deeper than the Marianas Trench. But the great thing about HBC is that you can be a person of just about any ability or aspiration in cycling, and walk out after one visit with pretty much exactly what you needed or wanted at a fair price. That is no mean feat in today's online-dominated, razor-thin margin environment. Lafayette and Tippco are amazingly well-served by HBC. It's a bit like finding a Chevy dealer in a tiny town surrounded by cornfields, that also sells Ferarri and Jaguar. Virtuous Cycles downtown is a great bike shop too, with a better clothing selection, great people and some great bikes. I visit them too. But I always start at HBC.

The real kicker, however, is that after riding home on my recently-repaired bike (which is only about two blocks from the shop) and then going out for a while, I come back and my back tire is completely deflated. Unless it was a one in a million chance that I happened to drive over glass (which I couldn't find on the wheel, unusual for a puncture) which happened to get through my reinforced Maxxis tire to hit the tube in those two blocks, I would say it was the incompetent repairman who managed to puncture my tube while he was working on the bike. I won't be returning.

They have a large selection of bicycles of all kinds (road, mountain, kids) and lots of spaces inside and out to go for test rides. They also sell different kind of gear like sports watches, clothing, shoes, and other goodies. I've been in a few times, once to browse road bikes and another time to find Chaco's. Both times, I was greeted by employees and offered assistance. When I was looking for Chaco's, I was helped out by a very nice gentleman. They offered to order a certain pair for me, but I ended up just buying the ones they had, but they were very nice to offer. I do believe they also do bike maintenance. Great little shop. If you're a pro cyclist, or just a beginner, I recommend stopping in.

I mentioned some of my plight and was told that he would do his best to get to it sometime that day. A tech was on my bike in an hour and thoroughly diagnosed my bike. I called the dealership on a Saturday morning and spoke with Brent, he said "come on in" and we will get you set up today. Upon arrival Kelly made sure we got into the shop right away. I had also heard good things about a mechanic named Randy over there. Randy is a very seasoned mechanic, he did a great job getting the bike out of the shop in no time at all. Kelly checked back in with us after we did some shopping to make sure we were well taken care of. My wife and I cannot say enough about the outstanding customer service we received on our visit to Indian Motorcycle of Lafayette. By the way, we got some great deals on jackets and gear, the dealership has a great inventory to chose from. We will be back!
