We were very pleased with our 4 night stay. We rented one of the 2 room cabins without a bathroom or kitchen. The bathrooms were kept up, not perfect, but it's camping! Definitely not the worst I've seen, not even close. The showers and stalls were kept clean and stocked. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The first cabin we were in had an older AC unit and it was having trouble cooling off the rooms. It was very hot day in July, 115! We mentioned the problem and they were able to move us to a different cabin with an updated unit. Previous reviews mention loose dogs and vagrants roaming the campsite. We saw none of that. It's not a locked down facility. We put away anything we didn't want to go missing over night, but I think it would have been OK regardless. There were a few stray cats and one had a litter. Our boys named her Joe. I bet they're great at keeping the rodents away. We did see (and squish) a few cockroaches, but, it's a campsite and I'm sure not all campers are as diligent about putting their food away as others might be. Overall a great stay! read more

So to be fair it's really 3.5 stars. I hate that you can't give half stars. Anyway the park is ok. It is old and run down but clean and quiet. The restrooms were also clean but again old. Not as nice as other KOA's I've stayed at and doesn't have the amenities like them either. But it was also cheaper. A little sprucing up and remodeling and can be a 4 star. The complaints I read about train and houses is ridiculous. Couldn't hear the train in the Rv and I've been to other parks where homes are next door. No big deal. Absolutely the WORST! After struggling to secure site online (2 days out), tried again the day of, the called with difficulties and in doing that missed the 4pm deadline to secure. There is PLENTY of availability but because it is past 4pm they refused to book over the phone. (Still two hours before they close for the day) Not only was the lady on the phone snotty in her explanation, her rudeness and completely LACK of empathy is unacceptable and unforgivable. I understand you have "rules" (although if someone is willing to pay for a EMPTY AND AVAILABLE spot, I can't understand why you would lose business) but surely you also have a "rule" to be NICE TO CUSTOMERS! Me and my family stayed two wonderful nights in the deluxe cabin that had a beautiful patio, with nice quiet atmosphere. The pool was the best part of our stay with a nice upkept grass area for a beautiful set up. However, the cabin we were in had a "yellow jacket" wasp nest at the very corner "K66" and so they where around us and it kept us worried that we would get stung, any second. We also had a empty propane tank in our cabin and the store had already closed with no help. Thank goodness I was able to "flag down" one of the employees as they where leaving. Although I did feel bad because he was already off the clock, our food was gonna go to waste if it wasn't replaced... or we would have to go buy a new one out of our own pockets, when the grill and the propane tank is apart of the amenities. He was VERY KIND to still help us which I was grateful for. However, I just wish this was prevented if changed properly in the beginning of our check-in stay. DISCLAIMER* if you are coming during the month of June or July during the most hottest times of reaching high temps of °110, the AC in the cabin will lack its capability of cool temp inside. The lowest temp. It will be in the room with ac on is °88. The staff was the kindest but, the cabin standing on its own...... I've read the other reviews and completely disagree. We have been here twice and definitely will be back (have you seen South Fork Kings River or the General Sherman tree?!!). Both times had OUTSTANDING service (too sunny, let's find you more shade... can't figure out this rental hitch, let us fix it for you)! We had a wonderful time here! My 2.5 year old and 5 year old loved the pool, and the cabins were a great option for a family with young kids, and well kept. We got everything we needed from the on-site store: fire wood, graham crackers, other last-minute things we forgot, and Brian was very helpful with all our questions. We went with two other families, and our kids enjoyed running back and forth between the cabins, enjoying some freedom from urban life. WiFi was good and we were able to have a movie night out on the lawn with a projector and screen. Tips for visiting the Sequoias: be sure to purchase a parking pass before leaving. I wouldn't have known this had my friends not done their research. Also, leave early to ensure you find parking. We left at around 7:45am for the almost-two-hour-drive and were able to secure a parking spot to see the General Sherman Tree. Thanks for a great visit, we'll be back! read more

The KOA in Visalia California. The place is in the middle of suburbia with a red wooden fence around it and very dated the old trailer scattered throughout the place doesn't help to look any the gravel and grass sites the shower stall was nice and tiled the stores fairly big. Really obese kids peeing in the shower I found 3 Black Widows under the picnic table and large egg sacks. When I let the Office know they said " yes We know , you get rid of them today and they are back tomorrow" They did email me back to say maintenance is on the way and Shernoff I saw some guy come out with a pesticide and squirted a few times under the table. This place is not worth $80 a night. The Train at night The road is 200ft away and a lot of kiddies have the smutty mufflers in their hot rods. Outdated with many residents living in the park but everyone was very friendly and the host was the sweetest woman you've ever met. If your expecting glamping at its fullest this is not the place. I'm just stating the facts: 1) Long term residents commingled with vacationers, not fun for either party. 2) Long term residents sites were not tidy. 3) Car with front end jacked up, being worked on. 4) No security and no number listed on Welcome flyer. You would have had to go to the front office for the number as directed by the Welcome flyer. 5) Unfortunately we had to make multiple call to 911 for a domestic dispute. 6) Front desk staff not following Covid protocols. 7) No response to email sent 8 days ago to Visalia KOA. read more

See the other reviews. Its a solid place if traveling. If want a level site to hook up (and have full hookups) for the night and to move along, it works. You know what you get with a KOA. Its not exactly close to the Sequoias and it definitely doesn't feel like "camping". I live in Visalia and we bought our 1st trailer and chose this place as a "test run". Glad we did and the customer service is 5 stars but i've been to other KOA sites now and this place is just average. A broken basketball hoop and a tiny broken down playground greeted us in this armpit town. We knew it wasn't a super touristy spot but man, gas prices are high and so are all the weirdos wandering the streets. Problem 1- The sites are stupid close to each other. Problem 2- Nobody has cut the bushes and they were encroaching on our spot. Problem 3- This is the first KOA with a store not open until 8pm. We've stayed at 10 or so. Problem 4- They take these stupid cards for laundry. Two working washers out of four. Two working dryers out of four. So the store was closed, no way to get the stupid card. No way to do laundry. Problem 5- I never once saw an attendant or an employee our entire 2 night stay. Not one. read more

I took my sister and nephew camping for the first time and I thought a KOA would be perfect since Ive had a positive stay elsewhere before. I was mistaken. We arrived around 7P and were happy to find the pool was open for another hour. My sister and nephew jumped in and right before I was, a person told me someone had pooped in the pool. The next day he told the front desk person and she was nonchalant about it and said she would inform someone else. Then after we jumped out of the pool we went to shower but one of the showers wouldn't drain. In the morning, the toilets were pretty dirty and I went to use it once more before I left and they had not been cleaned still. At the other KOA someone cleaned the toilets in the morning, I was surprised they had not done that so here. When I woke in the morning, there was this horrible smell outside and I'm unsure what it was. I could even smell it by their store. We wanted to do some laundry the night before but to our surprise you need to get their laundry card, that has a $10 deposit. I returned the card after we were done and thought I was getting my deposit back. To my surprise the next day I had been charged twice, overcharged for two loads when I just purchased one load on my card they apparently keep on file and another charge on the credit card I handed over to her. I called the front desk person when I saw the two charges and she wouldn't listen to me, she kept talking over me and she didn't understand. She was rude especially since I was charged twice. She reluctantly gave me a refund but she didn't fully understand why. Honestly the one star is just for the adorable stray cats that visit this place. They are so friendly and cute that made the stay not a complete disaster. I hope they feed them or keep them safe since they probably keep any little creatures away. read more

I really don't understand all the negative reviews because our experience was great at this KOA. We just came home from our 3 day 4th of July weekend from here. No, it's not in the sequoias but it's at the bottom of the mountain if you don't mind the drive. My kids loved the campground. Clean pool, fun little playground, and a little gift shop. I have stayed in several KOA Parks across the US and I have consistently had good experiences. Hell, I even had a membership for a few years. We recently stayed here while visiting the magical forest of Sequoia NP and we really had a great vacation. To be honest this location will take you about 45 minutes to get to the entrance of the park. However we wanted to still have the ability to get to services like food, entertainment and city culture. This location gave us easy the ability to get on and off the highway quickly and also made it close enough to explore the City of Visalia and its many food finds. Most of the staff was friendly. I am not going to name who was not friendly here but the Korean family was very helpful. Our cabin was clean and rustic at the same time and I was thankful I did not have to sleep on the ground in a tent. It was nice to also have AC in the cabin because it was so friggin hot out the week we went. I was trying to escape the LV heat but just got more of the same in the San Joaquin valley. This KOA had many amenities like a dog run, playground, swimming pool, store, game room with small arcade, pool table, ping pong and air hockey. We had a porch swing a picnic table and a fire pit all at our little cabin home away from home. The park was very clean and well maintained. It was nice to wake up at dawn to see bunnies and birds playing in the morning sun. The area was near some farms so we did have a few occasions when a tractor was rumbling down the road later at night. Other than that the park was quiet and most people seemed to keep to themselves. The majority of the park was populated with RV's with about a dozen or so tent sites and maybe 10 cabins. I would stay here again because we had so much fun on this trip. Just OK. I wouldn't say the staff was rude, like many of the other reviews, but they certainly aren't overly friendly or welcoming either. As far as the facility is concerned, it's really quite dated and subpar. I suppose I should admit that we typically stay at nice campgrounds, so we've become a bit spoiled AND I did not realize (but learned on this trip), that there are 3 "levels" of KOA's and this was the lowest in terms of amenities. I've attached some pictures for you to draw your own conclusions, but I'd say real confidently that this is is certainly not a destination campground. Meaning, if you hope to "hang out" at the campground and enjoy some time there, this is not the place you want to go. It's more of a "crash pad" of sorts. A place to hook up and sleep, that's about it. Grounds are in poor condition. Site pads are muddy and filled with ruts (at least ours was). There are quite a few "full time" campers (park residents) and while they seemed quiet and minded their own business, we never felt safe letting our kids out of our sight. Their "homes" are what you'd expect - surrounded by junk, debris and overgrown grass. (a few pictures included) The pool is fine if you're not expecting a resort style pool. It was clean. The recreation and work out room are really crummy. Old, broken and run down equipment, a few non-working arcade games, and a crusty pool table. The "soccer field" is about half dirt, half weeds with one busted up old net. There's also a dirt pit and weed infested volley ball area. The campground is also in a kind of weird neighborhood. There's some obvious commercial buildings around, as well as a few sketchy residential neighborhoods right in the area. The tent sites were really sad also. We had friends that tent camped and felt so bad for them after 3 nights of consistent and load road noise. The campground apparently thought it was a good idea to locate the tent sites along the primary road in and out of the neighborhood. Overall, this is not a campground we would stay at again. Fortunately, we spend from 8am to 8pm or later, in the beautiful Sequoia and Kings Canyon Parks. On that note, they are a good hour away, and really an hour and a half to the real sites in the parks, so plan accordingly. read more

My daughter and I were traveling from South Carolina to California and stopped here for the night. We stayed in a small cabin, which was cute and clean. But, it did not have a t.v., mini refrigerator, or microwave. The staff were all nice. This KOA is really small and was extremely busy/crowded with both tent campers and R.V.s. All the campsites are really close together. If you want to stay somewhere quiet, this is not the place for you. It seems like this place is more for people with kids, families, or big groups. The women's bathroom was always busy. We always had to wait every time we went. The swimming pool is right next to the bathrooms. That was very busy as well. read more

First of Let me say that the checkin staff was pleasant and easy to work with. Our first site was terrible, I requested to move to another site. The gal was accommodating after making some effort. So we then moved into Site H52, not the greatest, mostly dirt and dead grass. We managed, a couple of days go by...then we noticed that our site was infested with cockroaches. This is unacceptable! I think Koa has enough money @$70. Per night...something should be done about that. The advertisement states that you have shady, grassy campsites only some of them were. Horseshoes ? Where?? The playground was not nice at al, no shade, sand was completely unacceptable for a child to play at. The complete grounds were dried and dead, however the resident area had nice shady and lush grass in some areas, obviously the residents take care of their area. The restrooms were nothing to brag about...they were just ok. The pool area could use daily attention, one day when I went I took some Wet paper towel and wiped Down the tables and cleared some Of the spider webs from our chairs. The pool definitely could use a few repairs and daily cleaning. The handles get very hot, hello it's Visalia and this past week was the hottest ever, that was the case by the steps where the kids touch, the single handle in the deep end has a broken left side. These should be replaced with something that is more updated. This was our first time at a KOA, we will not stay at this camp site again. read more

The campground is in a very bad neighborhood in an industrial area. The grounds are mainly dusty and gravel, very little paved road or grass. The playground is pathetic. The dog park is small. The store is very limited. Some bathrooms are not kept clean. Pool water is green. Our site's electrical panel was deteriorating and caused our fuses to blow twice. Water pressure was poor. Staff may be nice but it does not make up for all the negative aspects of this campground. Train goes by every night around 10 pm. At best it's a place to stay one night while traveling a long distance. read more

Got a sinking feeling in my gut the second we pulled into this campground. It is run down, old, dirty and looks like they haven't spent any money or time on maintenance in years. While the staff wasn't completely rude, they were definitely less than friendly. We were camping with another group and had asked if we could move spots to be closer to them. One lady in the office began to look and see if we could, when the other interrupted and said that she couldn't do that because it would "make the other campers mad." There were plenty of spots that stayed vacant the entire time we were there that they could have moved us too. Very disappointing. We were also told by a grumpy man on a golf cart to move our car because the back tire of our extra vehicle was touching an unoccupied camp spot. We came very far and were excited to let our kids play and ride their bikes around the campground but the sites were unpaved and unkempt with very loose, sparse gravel accompanied by overgrown weeds and pot holes everywhere. There was not a single area of nice grass. The pool was very outdated, but clean, and that was the only amenity that was enjoyable for us with small children. We normally stay at very nice, private campgrounds and this was only the second KOA we've ever stayed at, the first being San Diego metro which was amazing and led us to believe that all KOAs would be nice but that is definitely not the case. Thank God the sequoia national park was so beautiful because otherwise this campground would have ruined our entire trip. read more

Over priced and a bad location for RVs wanting time go to Sequoia National Park. I'll admit we didn't do our research and found out too late that vehicles over 22 feet aren't allowed very far into the park from the 3 Rivers Gate and should have gone to King's Canyon. Game room didn't have any working games and smelled old and full of mildew. Pool is only opened May-Oct even though it's heated and opened... Not worth the money for wanting to stay and go see Sequoia. 2 stars for the ease of parking, playground and showers. read more

What a great little KOA! One of the smaller ones in the KOA system but quite enjoyable. We chose this because of exploring Sequoia and Kings Canyon NP's. We are certainly glad we chose this one. As others have posted, it is one of the smallest KOA's we have visited but my wife and I enjoyed the piece and quiet, the cleanliness of the facilities and the pool, and friendly and helpful staff. Sites are nice sized spaces so you are not crowded in to your neighbor. We will definitely return here on our next trip to this area. read more

Don't be deceived by the name of this campground. It is nowhere near the Sequoia national forest. More aptly it should be called the Visalia back yard industrial park campground. Located in a low income neighborhood situated next to an industrial park area, this park features police sirens nightly as well as an aroma reminiscent of hot garbage mixed with curry and armpits. Save your money and park at Wal-Mart, their bathrooms will be cleaner. read more

This campground falsely advertises wheelchair accessibility. While they do have multiple nice flat sites that could easily be great for a wheelchair, the campground has an appalling omission which makes the entire place unusable: there's no wheelchair accessible restroom. None--not even the most basic attempt at one. This applies to the cabin they advertise as wheelchair accessible as well. It doesn't come with its own restroom. Just the general campground restrooms, which have no stalls wheelchairs can fit in. Don't let that glowing picture of a nice handicapped parking spot in front of their store fool you! Overall this campground is very good. The only reason I took off a star is because it is NOT near Sequoia National Park as the name suggests. Luckily, I mapped this location when booking, so I knew that it's about 45-60 minutes from the park. I can see how people would be upset and disappointed when they pull into this KOA expecting it to be near the park. Yes, it's right on the edge of an Industrial Park, but that has no effect on the campground. The campground is very clean, plenty of nice big trees for shade, and peaceful and quiet. We arrived after the office closed at 6:00pm, but our reservation was on the office door waiting for us. Nice, big level spots too. Showers are clean as well as the pool area. If you're traveling to Sequoia NP and cannot stay in the NP campgrounds, this is a good alternative as long as you don't mind being 45 minutes from the park. read more

Not family friendly at all! Been to a few KOA sites and Visalia was not great at all. The cabins had roaches. The bathrooms need more attention. They clean the bathrooms once daily and with a holiday weekend-multiple cleanings would be needed. I was shocked to see how gross the toilets were. The playground was a sore sight. Most of the staff were pleasant with the exception of an older man. He is so rude and miserable. He scolded our kids for riding their bikes without a helmet. I can completely understand the safety issue and would be happy to oblige to the rule but his attitude was so rude. My son was taken aback by his tone...(mind you, we've been to a few KOA and no other site, have we ever had an issue with riding bikes). They claim to have horse shoes and game room...all not open. Literally, there was nothing accommodating to families except for the pool(which also needs major TLC). We love KOA for the kids but will not be coming here again. Our favorite KOA so far(tip for other families with kids) is Mendocino/Manchester. We go their every year. read more

Visalia KOA Had a fenced off-leash dog area, small pool that went all the way to 8 feet, small game room with a pool table, video games, and air hockey and a small playground for children. Quiet time here is seriously quiet. And campground spaces are very small. But was relatively clean. read more

Our site was perfectly level! Which RVers will appreciate. The office staff is friendly and accommodating; the store is well stocked with items you may need from laundry soap to s'mores! Wood is available for the fire pits. This park is 90 min from the General Sherman tree and we loved driving through orange groves to get there! The laundry is clean and up to date. You get a card for the washers and dryers onto which you load the number of loads you need. The card required a $10 deposit which is refunded when you turn it back in. Any unused purchases loads is also refunded, as well. This KOA is located in a neighborhood with many many roosters and near train tracks. Both of these will wake you early in the morning but neither is anything the park can control. We did not use shower facilities so I can't rate. We traveled in a 40ft 5th wheel Toy hauler. We requested a long site so we could use our deck, which they accommodated. read more

This campground is not as bad as people are making it out to be. I'll give you that is isn't something outstanding, but it's not horrible. It has a fenced dog area for off leash dog exercise, which is nice. They put a lot of emphasis in people staying quiet and not disrupting others. It has a small store. As for the staff, they didn't sing and dance when I came in, like some people apparently need, but they were very friendly. This is a fine place to drop on and stay while on the road. We aren't looking to stay longer than a night, so don't know what's going on outside of the park. I just think it has been given a bum rap. It's just fine. read more
