I went back to the well one too many times. I had Al out to fix a fan he installed, about a year ago. The fan only got worse, and he left me with a broken bathroom exhaust fan blaming it on the fan. About a year after that, a new set of projects came up: install bathroom light, can, hook up heated floor ....and this trip i had that new fan for him to replace. I also had him install 2 "can" lights. This time he brought along his kid? What i thought was a couple hours of work, ended up being 8 and a half hours for $1700. Now he was not there for quite 8 and a half hours, he obviously charged me for all of his and his kids breaks, charged me for the fan but the part that surprised me, was that he charged me $85 per hour for the kid. No way I was expecting to pay an electricians rate on a helper, and there is no way they did 17 man hours of work. The topper is, my newly tiled shower was damaged. There are cracked tiles and scratched tiles on the one wall. I called Al and asked what kind of ladder he used and he got to be, not so helpful. It seems that the cracked tiles are a result of someone leaning a ladder on the wall. I had painters in there too. I thought they might be responsible, but when I checked their equipment, I realized they could not have done the damage. Al and I texted each other, so I texted him asking if he wanted to come check it out, and that it was $200 to repair the tiles. What was once a fairly responsive Al, these texts went unanswered for a week. Al had cutting tools in the shower, and seems far more likely sharp edges caused the scratches etc. I finally called Al, and when I asked him to consider the possibility, he got super defensive and started blaming the painters and yelled that I was accusing him. At no time did I but I had 2 people doing work in there, and no explanation as to how they were damaged. I asked him to consider and to stop by if needed. There was so much yelling from him, I ended up thanking him a few times just to get off the phone....yuck. Side note, the kid broke a shade on the light fixture. Al said something like "that's why we don't work with lights that are put together" I installed the shades, so they would know the footprint of it. I left it up to them if they wanted to keep it together or not. At some point he ha the kid apologize, and that seemed to be the end of it, which seemed odd, as I would have expected a sentence like, "we'll get you a new one", or "let me know how much it is". Luckily, the manufacturer offered to send one out for free. read more

We recently needed him to fix the outlets in our kitchen, and he and his team not only fixed and grounded our outlets, but brought everything up to code while staying way past dinner until it was done. Extremely satisfied with the service provided by Visco Electric, specifically the owner, Al Visco! Multiple lights and air conditioner went out on the same day. I called 3 electric companies. I chose Visco Electric because 1) he responded promptly (during a holiday weekend)... 2) he offered some trouble shooting suggestions first... and 3) he fit us into his full schedule knowing we had no air on a very hot day. Al was very professional (handed us his business card right at the door, removed his shoes, etc.), courteous, and honest/fair. I was so concerned about being taken to the cleaners (ignorant when it comes to electrical issues) but in the end only paid a 1 hr. service charge. I could not have been happier with these guys. My power went out in one room and the circuit breaker indicated a short. The two guys that were here investigated and found the problem and installed new outdoor gfci s where needed and problem solved. Very fair price but just terrific electricians. He is the most knowledgeable contractor I have encountered in the home buying/hiring process. He knew how to analyze a problem, determine what was needed and properly estimate what was needing to be done. I had an industrial dual fuel stove installation that no one else could figure out. Al knew exactly what was needed, found problems with the wiring [this was a brand new unit mind you] and showed me what needed to happen. He quoted me and started the job within a weeks time, and completed all of my projects in one day. I was highly impressed with his professionalism. I had a sub panel installed, a bathroom fan replaced, several light fixtures replaced, a huge living room fan/light installation that he measured beforehand due to my angled custom built walls/frame and made sure I had the right equipment for installation and right size fan blades before he and his team showed up [honestly who is going to tell you that?!?! no one I ever used]. And to add to this stellar service, he is ALL about customer service from start to finish. All day I heard him tell his team "the customer would appreciate that, do that for the customer, do this for the customer, make it nice for the customer". ON and on, he's all about service. Now mind you, they had to take out the custom paneling and trim on my wall [it HURT to watch..] but when he was done, he cleaned up after himself throughout the entire home AND he gave us the name of not one but two reputable carpenters he works with to refer us to get the woodworking back to it's original shape. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated his professionalism. Finally a contractor I did not have to hand hold or follow every square inch behind. Al and Tony came today to help me with a problem I encountered with a light switch arc that caused a section of the house to lose power. I called in the morning and they were able to come out a few hours later, which was much appreciated. They listened to my layman explanation of the problem and after a look at the wiring, the switches and the breaker box, they were able to quickly diagnose the issue and resolve it. Since I started the problem in the first place by trying to see if a timer could replace a toggle switch for outdoor lighting, they were able to get that installed for me, too. Both gentlemen were incredibly friendly and did a great job of explaining what they saw and how they resolved things. We are incredibly happy with the work that Al and his team just performed. We had some electrical issues at our house. We originally hired a bigger name company, which came out and provided an estimate of the work to be done. However, when we decided to move forward with the work, that company failed to show up for the scheduled appointment. Al came out and did an evaluation. He added a couple more items to the scope of work, but provided an estimate that was about $500 cheaper than the other company's.
