Let me just start by saying that I've been to 3 other chiropractors in my life and had positive experiences with all. This time, I was just trying to find someone closer to home for convenience. And I saw this place on the Hoboken Girl voting page as one of the 3 top chiropractors, so I thought "why not try it?" Spine & Sports Health Center looks clean and professional. When I called up before my visit, the girl on the phone was friendly and promptly called my insurance to check on my benefits. Despite being out-of-network, I decided to go because it's very close to my home. They had iPad check-in, which is convenient. Liked that. Unfortunately, that's where the pleasantness ended. Dr. Redondo had me walk in front of him to his office. Moved his hands along my back in a VERY slow, and what felt like uncertain way, without doing any adjustments initially. Then he did the table adjustments and I didn't feel anything crack or adjustment but I rolled with it. Sat on a chair for the head/neck adjustment and I think he made a mistake cause what was already tight in my neck felt worse. When I stood up, the right side of my mid back was now hurting (I had come in for lower back pain on my left side). So he had me get back on the table to try to adjust the right side. Then he does an ultrasound (why? There was no discussion before or after about it). He spends about 5 minutes rubbing the gel into my lower back with his left hand, in very rapid circles (not sure what kind of imaging that would provide). I've had pelvic ultrasounds before and they usually move slowly to capture what's going on inside. Anyway, 95% of his right hand on my butt the whole time. I had never gotten a back ultrasound before but that felt entirely unnecessary and inappropriate. I didn't want to make a scene and it took me time to process what was happening. Afterwards, he didn't tell me the results of the ultrasound. Just told me my recommended treatment plan. Then the girl at the desk started setting up the next appointment but got a phone call and proceeded to prioritize the caller for 5 minutes while I stood there quiet. Then I just walked out because I already knew I was never coming back to this place. I was content to just put this place and uncomfortable experience out of my mind forever but they sent me a text asking me for a review and then office manager left me a voicemail asking to know about my experience. Then I saw the 5 star Google reviews and realized I need to say something so that other people (especially women) know the truth about The Spine & Sports Health Center. read more

Nothing but good things to say about Dr. Iannacone and the Therapists here but the admin staff is beyond rude. I've had issues with them from the start of my therapy, which, by the way, was a sure thing. twice a week for months to come. So say goodbye to that stream of income. Let me start by saying I never saw a doctor or met anyone in this practice besides the receptionists. I made an appointment on Monday for a Wednesday evening time slot. The following day on Tuesday, the receptionist called to see if she could reschedule my appointment with Dr. Kelly. I said I wasn't available to reschedule and they said it was fine and could make my original time work. When I arrived for my appointment, they asked me to fill out paperwork. Halfway through the process the receptionist told me that Dr. Kelly wasn't available because he had a meeting and I would have to see the nurse practitioner, who couldn't make any adjustments to my back. What a crock of shit. This is par for the course with most Chiropractors in Hoboken but why not be upfront with me about who I would be seeing at my appointment? I injured my ankle and had surgery with Dr. Feliciano. He was an amazing Dr. throughout the entire process. The office was quick to provide the documents I needed for work. I stayed at the office for Physical therapy. Kerri and Santiago have been amazing. They get to know their patients and listen when you are having a bad day and adapt the PT based on your pain and how you are progressing. read more

I pursued chiropractic, physical therapy and pain treatment after a car accident and neck/shoulder injury. I would not recommend this practice. They are too focused on the business and do not offer individualized care. Chiropractic adjustments were rushed without much palpation, and I did not experience long-lasting relief or significant improvements-- I was hooked up to electric stim by a receptionist (who never understood where I needed the pads placed), and ultimately saw the chiropractor for a 5 minute adjustment. I prefer doctors who spend more time stretching and massaging, giving specific adjustments rather than the generic back, hip, neck, out. Having spent many years in the waiting room--they were often backed up and made me wait a while, or threw me on electric stim to keep me busy--they make a strong "sell" to patients about coming regularly to get results: "You'll need to come at least 3x/week for 4 weeks if you want to make progress." Meanwhile, I've gotten much more dramatic results with a practitioner who really spent hands-on time with me (1-2 times per week) and used practices that were designed to treat my specific injury, versus offering a one-size-fits-all approach that did not yield dramatic improvements (and only led them to recommend more expensive and invasive options). The office aggressively assisted with my pursuit of care related to the car accident, but ultimately I did not get long-term relief. They see dollar signs in your eyes if you've had a car accident, making sure to get you treated as many times as possible even if those treatments aren't working for you. Neck PT was focused on exercises without a lot of time for manual work like sports massage, trigger point work, or ART. Space is cramped and definitely not private. Dr. Visco was always attentive and patient, but we could not solve my pain problem. He sent me for several (expensive) x-ray guided epidural injections at the hospital, but they did not help at all. I refused the option to take pain pills at a young age. Despite the frequency of my visits (about 2-3x/week), I left after several years feeling like I'd been scammed and my time was wasted. They ultimately made $30,000 from my insurance company after going into arbitration after the company stopped covering treatment related to my car accident. read more

When I had had enough of being in pain and needed somewhere close by to visit to find out what was causing my back and arm pain, I remembered seeing the practice on my many walking trips in Hoboken, and I am very glad I did! Everyone I dealt with at the practice was great in their respective fields... seeing Dr Visco for diagnosis, Dr Kelly for chiropractic treatment, Dr Ben-Meir for an EMG (which was a not pleasant procedure, made much more bearable by his patient and calm demeanor) and once on the other side of x-ray and MRI, a couple of months of Physical Therapy with Juan Nunez (who is extremely thorough and easy to work with), gave me all the relief I was looking for. All the therapy that Juan had me work through has given me a plan that I am actually using day to day at home, which will ensure that the hard work they put in to diagnosing and treating me will be maintained. Everyone else at the office, from the friendly ladies up front to Renee Kilianski (who helped make the billing issues simpler and more affordable after I had exhausted my HMO allowances), were always a pleasure to work with! In truth when I graduated form the physical therapy, I was kinda sad that I would not see the whole team 3 times a week, but I am glad they got me to this point of relief! They recently changed name from East Coast Spine.... Absolutely Fantastic Place!!!! I have been going here for over 6 months for a lower back injury. They take utmost care of their patients, take time to answer all questions, help you understand everything, and work with you for billing. Dr Visco and Dr Agrawal are top notch spine doctors.I always feel like I'm in good hands and they take the time to explain everything. Juan Nunez- the physical therapist is extremely patient, knowledgeable, and kind. He really listens to you, helps with whatever needs immediate attention and helps you recover/ build back to your old self. I am so impressed with him, and the way he handles his patients. Dr. Kelly is the first chiropractor I've ever seen.He helped me understand how the adjustments play a role in my back injury/recovery. He took the time to calm my nerves and explain the adjustments. And their front desk staff are very helpful, and friendly! I am improving by leaps and bounds and this office has been such a wonderful place to go to 3 times a week for over 6 months. its great to have all the doctors you may need under one roof. I'm not entirely sure why there are so many bad reviews on here, but I wanted to share my input. I have been fighting (and ignoring) severe back pain for 6 years, after being diagnosed with scoliosis in my early teens, and the idea of finding help for my various issues was daunting. Finally, after terrible flare up where I couldn't walk for a week (I'm 26!), I gave them a call (after I had made and canceled multiple appointment out of cowardice) and they amazingly were able to take me in the next day. Dr. Kurdali, Priscilla (the head of PT), and the rest of the team have been integral in my healing processes, both physically and emotionally. They take the time to answer my many, many questions, and they are taking an aggressive enough treatment for my age while not making me feel rushed or confused. They are also conscientious of the financial investments that come with pain management, and make sure I am aware of the costs and while also creating a treatment plan based both on my health and not draining my bank account. I'm hopeful about my plan for my body, and grateful to have a support system in Sports & Spine to help me along the way. read more

I came The Spine and Sport Center of Hoboken seeking treatment for and prolonged injury as well a a recent one. I first saw Dr. Ben-Meir. He. Was. Amazing! He spent so much time with me. Asked many question regarding my injury. He wanted to make sure no stone was unturned. Then came for the physical evaluation. I was asked to change into a hospital gown. He then, with a female present in the room, examined me. Professional, knowledgeable, helpful, and I did not feel rushed at all. The girls at the front desk are so warm and welcoming and quickly get to know and greet patients on a first name bases. Nicole and Juan are wonderful physical therapist! They listen and want to do whatever they can to help. I feel so lucky that I stumbled upon this gem! And the fact everything( Doctors, physical therapist) are in the same facility, extra points for that! Cannot say enough good things about this place! The Spine and Sport Center of Hoboken is the place you need to go when you treatment for back problems is needed. One negative, which has nothing to do with The Spinal Center, is parking...parking in Hoboken is the worst! read more

I visited Dr. Ben-Meir at the Spine & Sports Health Center in Hoboken for evaluation/diagnosis of chronic back issues. Dr. Ben-Meir is incredibly friendly and personable, with a proficient, thorough approach to his practice. He was attentive and professional during the examination, taking time to explain medical/anatomical topics in ways I could understand. He patiently answered all of my questions; I never felt rushed. He concluded my visit with a diagnosis, and a very amenable treatment plan for recovery. Very successful, and enjoyable, visit! The rest of the office staff was helpful and super pleasant, too. I met physical therapist, Juan, who kindly provided a second opinion to my diagnosis with ease and efficiency. The office managers were extremely friendly and efficient in helping me with my paperwork, insurance, and scheduling needs. I needed an x-ray, and have a busy work schedule, and they were able to fit me in for my x-ray later that day without a problem. Overall, I highly recommend Spine & Sports Health Center both in Hoboken and Jersey City (where I went for my x-ray). Everyone is super kind, and works efficiently to help treat your problems. read more

After seeing this place "featured" on HobokenGirl I felt it necessary to review since they (HG) won't post my comment - obviously because they got paid by S&S for the sponsored content. It is an absolute insurance and money scam, and you better have some deep pockets in order to pay their insane fees. I went in after pulling a muscle in my back working out. It probably could've worked itself out on its own, but I wanted it to feel better quickly, so I went in. What a racket. They first had me meet with a "doctor" who spent all of 5 minutes with me where I was the one telling her what was wrong. She then made it seem like I needed to have an MRI - yes an MRI for a pulled muscle, which would've cost me ~ $2000 if I was stupid enough to follow their advice. Then she made me go for an x-ray (thankfully covered by my insurance, and done off premises) Then, as I go to leave to get the x-ray, they tell me at the front desk that the appointment with the "doctor" was going to cost $150!!! For 5 minutes of ME TELLING HER WHAT WAS WRONG. I said I was not paying that, it was outrageous. They then have a woman come down and basically have me sign this paper saying I am not able to financially afford this service, so I will only pay $15 ... um how do you go from $150 to $15? Oh, well, now I know... because they billed my insurance $750 for this, which is NOT COVERED. I then had to come back the same day for one therapy session, which was so awkward and the PT seemed like he was either bored or completely inept - he had me do some light stretches and then put a hot pad on my back for 15 minutes and I was done. This cost me another $15. Fine. But then I find out they also billed my insurance $350 for that! I never went back, because it was such a scam and waste of my time. This was in August and I am still fighting with my insurance over these bills and their charges. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. If you need an honest and amazing PT/Chiropractor head over to Exchange Place Therapy Group in Jersey City. Went there for PTs and quite disappointed. First day was about 20-30 mins, just a few questions and I was just laying for heatpack and some sort of ultrasound machine. 2nd session was about 30mins, basically did three different exercises that they told me to do and heat pack. With the amount of pain that I was in, I thought they would give me more one on one time. I think total 5-10 one one one time I got for the two sessions combined. Anyways I won't be going back. After suffering from a partially torn ACL, my orthopedist (not at this center) suggested I try out physical therapy for a couple months to see if I could rehabilitate to the point of not needing surgery. I heard good things about The Spine and Sports Health Center for physical therapy so I gave it a try. Juan and Nicole who worked there took each week individually depending on the pain and progress I felt each session. After 3 months total, my knee feels good enough to play basketball on without a brace, I never needed surgery, and I have Juan and Nicole to thank for it. read more

I've had a great experience here so far. The staff is friendly and helpful-- helping me with my back pain, and getting approval from my insurance for both an MRI and steroid injections in a matter of hours. Also, they're out of network for my insurance, but they're matching what I was paying an an in-network physical therapy center. Bit points for that. Dr. Visco seems extremely knowledgeable, professional, and actually seems to care. I've also met with the head of their physical therapy facility and he really seems to know what he's doing. He gave me a plan of action for recovery that-- frankly-- was way more involved than what I had been doing at my previous PT center for 2 months. I am only docking them a star because the PT area is really small and cramped. It kind of felt like the had too many people using the facility at once. I will definitely be sticking with these guys for a few months and am optimistic for the results they promised. read more

Joe Bittar (amazing) Acupuncturist and Tropiano- Chiropractor have given me relief from pain and mobility I hadn't had in years! And they were extremely kind. (When your in pain; It's hard to let someone manipulate your neck with out being weary) I sleep better! feel better. I was doubtful about the the acupuncture ...
