Vision One isn't some hoity toity spa like practice trying to sell you on bells and whistles. They're no bullshit, direct, and to the point -- exactly what you want when it comes to your eyes. I live in the city but made the trip out to Arlington Heights for my consult, then went to their Lombard location for the surgery about two and a half weeks later, and came back to Arlington Heights the next day for the post op. Totally worth it. From start to finish, everything moved efficiently but never felt rushed. On the day of surgery, they took their time with the preoperative steps, did another full workup, checked my corneas again, and the surgeon personally evaluated me before getting started. That gave me real peace of mind. People kept insisting I would need a Valium or something to calm my nerves, but I didn't need it at all. The team was calm, confident, and made me feel completely safe. When it was time, the actual procedure felt like it took three minutes, and that was it. They made sure I understood everything before and after surgery, gave me a full kit with everything I needed, and treated me with respect the whole way through. Now I can see so crystal clear, I'm babying my eyes like they're made of gold. It feels illegal to see this perfect. Already hit 20/20 the day after surgery and looking forward to hitting that 20/15 soon. For the price, it is a no brainer. This is not a big box conveyor belt type of place. I am now exactly a week post-op. I had an unexpected experience here. I came for my initial visit and was told I was good for lasik. I did ask about PRK because I read about it in the reviews and the doctor told me that I didn't need to worry about it. Little did he know, that I did need to know about it. I was one of those patients that were really nervous about the process. I think the employees working with the doctor need to do a better job at comforting us very nervous patients. First of all, it doesn't help waiting two hours in the waiting room for your turn. It just made me more nervous and because of Covid, I couldn't have anyone with me. While waiting, I did notice that the procedure was taking people an average of just 10 minutes. Anyway, continuing on, I went and during my procedure on my second eye, I flinched. This must have damaged my flap and therefore I had to switch over to PRK for my left eye. This has changed my recovery almost completely. With the lasik eye, you can see perfectly almost immediately. I had no pain in recovery. It was really amazing and just felt more grateful to my creator for such technology. Seeing is truly a blessing! With the other eye, PRK, recovery is a lot different. I didn't know, I didn't do my research because I was told I don't need to worry about it. Even in my papers, there's a question that if you want PRK or not, I circled "no" and then had to change it during the procedure. Now a week later, my left eye is still blurry, but that's normal for PRK. There was a lens over my eye that served as a bandage that was removed yesterday. People who did PRK say that it takes time for the vision to improve. You have to keep up with your drops and I'm hoping that my vision will be great in a few weeks. Overall, it's a great office. It's been more than 2.5 years since I had the Lasik procedure and I am still so happy with the result. Some of the lingering sensitivities and starbursts I noted at the 11 month update are gone. If my eyes are very tired or dry I see starbursts at night, but it is not all the time. I totally take for granted now that I can just see, until I hear a friend say something about how their contacts are annoying or that they have to get new glasses, and I remember what it was like dealing with those inconveniences. I remember at around the time of the last update I would sort of still baby my eyes, like make sure I had eye drops available and never rub them. Now I don't worry that I'll do damage and don't need eye drops throughout the day. I would absolutely do it again. 11 month update: I am still happy with my Lasik procedure, but the night-time starbursts still exist for me, and seem to be permanent. For myself, it was entirely worth it, but I could see how the night vision would be difficult for some people. The convenience of no longer needing glasses is amazing. 3 month update: It's been 3 months since I had Lasik at Vision One. I am so happy I did it. I can see everything so clearly. Very far distances are really amazingly clear. I see better than I did with contacts or glasses. My eyes get dry sometimes, but I use eye drops less than when I wore contacts. The night-time starbursts around street lights and car lights persist, especially if my eyes are dry. Overall my vision is great, my eyes are comfortable, I wake up with perfect vision, and packing for trips is easier. Thanks Vision One I had my Lasik procedure one week ago and I am very happy with the results and the procedure itself. I recommend Vision One Lasik to my friends and family, if they choose to have Lasik. I had a slight astigmatism and nearsightedness with a -3.75 and -3.25 prescription. My procedure cost $1900 (they matched an online deal price), paid for with a FSA. First you must go for a consultation, then you setup a day to do the procedure. The only shortfall here to me is that you are unaware until you sit in the procedure chair whether you will be a candidate for Lasik or PRK. I had decided that if I needed PRK I would leave, and it would have been a shame to have waited throughout the morning to then leave, but PRK seems to have a longer recovery that to me may not have been worth it. They make you consent to PRK prior to talking to a doctor about it or knowing whether you may or may not need that procedure. Anyway, I was a Lasik candidate so I went through with it. The wait is exactly as described by the reviews and by the staff. This seems to be very efficient to allow the most people to get the procedure in one day. Once in the chair for Lasik it took literally like 30 seconds per eye. It is uncomfortable (not painful at all) and I was anxious during the procedure, but it is over before you can think too hard about it. It is crazy. You can see immediately afterward. I was reading street signs on the way home. The first day they suggest you go home and go to sleep. My partner drove me and I took some Zzquil. I couldn't sleep really but it was definitely scratchy with some short shooting pains. I would get up for an hour or two and then my eyes would feel tired and uncomfortable but just closing them helps. Day two you must return to the Vision One (which in this case was at a different location) so they can approve you to drive and I guess take a look at you. That appointment took about 20 minutes from me walking in the front door. After the first day the rest is easy so far. Day 2 - 4 or so felt intermittently like wearing dry contacts at the end of a long day. Today my eyes feel the most comfortable yet. My vision has been improving everyday. Details in distance vision are better than I ever experienced with contacts or glasses. I can see so clearly but lights at night have starburst and bright lights during the day have some halo. The starbursts are bigger than any I had with contacts so that might be something to think about for people. (It's so worth it to me). Most of this is about my post-surgical experience and probably more about Lasik in general, but I would recommend Vision One because I've so far had a great result for a much lower cost than other providers. read more

I had Lasik 7/30. The experience was good but definitely odd. I went for the consultation where I was satisfied with the Dr because he was not pushy at all. I had heard about the salesman experience and was expecting them to be pushy. It was the total opposite. The younger Dr. Brand was almost too calm and nonchalant. I ended up scheduling the surgery and arrived at my time. You do go in groups so everyone has to get their eyes tested before even 1 surgery starts. The weird part came in in a few places: 1. you sign a document in the lobby that has another Dr's name on it. I was taken aback as I had never heard of this doctor before. 2. while waiting, you watch a video that reveals the surgeon is from Florida and not either Dr. Brand that you actually meet. After the video, the surgeon, Dr. Burger, comes out and he's nice and has a dry humor (I enjoyed it but I could see how some may not). My surgery took all of 6 minutes. 3. when you return, you don't see the surgeon again, but instead one of the Dr. Brands. He's dry and pretty straightforward but it seemed odd to not see the surgeon because what if something was wrong? Overall, I had no issues, but I was slightly overcorrected (Which my regular optometrist told me was normal). However, I'm glad I didn't know the surgeon's name beforehand. I looked him up afterward and let's just say, his reviews aren't that great. Nonetheless, I'm loving my new vision and praying that my healing remains good! Life without glasses is great! read more

After waiting 4 hours I didn't have lasik. They wanted to change it last minute to a more invasive surgery which I had no time to research, but it's also more money. Why they would have a person wait half a day and then spring that on you it isn't right. Not to mention you have an appointment prior to surgery where I was told I was a candidate. They also don't allow you to speak to doctor to have him explain the difference in procedures. The receptionist (brunette) was rude and not friendly. Another extremely shady thing they have you with a consent form that Dr Brand is doing your surgery, but the surgeon is a Dr. Berger. You don't figure this out until you have sat there for more than 3 hours and the surgeon finally comes in to speak and says his name. My guess is some sort of liability that if they screw up the procedure you have no recourse since you signed Dr Brand was doing it. Zero stars I will definitely not go back here for anything. I got my PRK procedure done on 5/29/2020 at a phenomenal rate. While I am still not 20/20, I can see without having to wear glasses or contacts for the first time in 20 years. Before surgery, my prescription was -6.75 with astigmatism in both eyes. Currently, I can see about signs clearly from half a mile away and don't have any issues with dry eyes and no longer have astigmatism. First thing to note is that you're required to do a consultation before your surgery date. I had mine at the downtown Chicago location, which is also where I have all of my post-ops. My appointments usually go without hiccup. Overall, my procedure went seamlessly even though I was incredibly nervous. Dr. Burger (I think this is his name) was gentle, informative, funny and very professional. If I had to do it all over again, I'd definitely want him to do my procedure. My only negative is that no one knew if I was going to be getting PRK or Lasik until 4 minutes before my surgery, which I was warned about. I was told to bring extra cash in the event that I would need PRK instead of Lasik so I really didn't even know the cost of my procedure until 4 minutes before I was ushered into the OR and didn't know how to advise my employers/plan for recovery. I am in the legal field so things were a bit difficult for a few months but very well worth it. If you're hesitant, just do it. read more

I hung up and called back and asked her what happened and she said she was helping other customers and she's the only one working. Little did she understand she forgot to put her phone on mute and I could hear her shuffling paper in the back and she definitely wasn't physically talking to anyone, unless she was doing paperwork but as a professional I've been told that you should always deal with in-person or customers on the phone first, then do paperwork. Anyway, she said the doctors are only there Tuesdays and Thursday's and I needed a weekend appointment so i tried my luck with the Arlington heights locatio (to be continued on the other page.) read more

Would I recommend lasik eye surgery? Yes. Would I recommend getting your surgery here? No. First, my initial surgery appointment was cancelled without me knowing. There was an electrical issue and they cancelled all surgeries but failed to notify me. I made the long commute to Lombard just to find out they were closed. Looking at other reviews, I see others had similar experiences which is ridiculous. I appreciated that Dr Brand personally called to apologize and offered me a discount but my next appointment couldn't be scheduled for another month. On my second surgery attempt they were actually open which was a plus! But I would describe the experience to visiting an amusement park. You spend 8 hours at the park and only 30 minutes of that is on rides. I waited 5.5 hours total and 5 hours of that was spent just sitting around in the waiting rooms. They say expect to wait 3-4 hours there but it's more like 5-6 hours. Lastly, I appreciate when doctors explain what they are doing as they do it. I realize that they are trying to get through the surgeries quickly, but my surgery experience would have been better if the doctor explained what he was doing to my eye as he was doing it. I gave them one star because I was very happy with my lasik results. I was seeing 20/20 the next day and had minimal post surgery discomfort. That being said, I'm sure you could get similar results at another lasik center without going through the numerous inconveniences that I experienced. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE My friend referred me here after he got his lasiks surgery. I scheduled an appointment for today, cancelled other appointments I had, drove 45minutes to get there and the place was closed due to construction. I called them to see why they didn't call me to reschedule or let me know that they had to close early and their response was "we did call everyone who was scheduled"... Well you called everyone EXCEPT me. I am never going back to this place and will take my money elsewhere . Decided to give this place a second chance after someone contacted me from this place, Bad idea.... I was told one price for my surgery and the say of my surgery they added $400 more without a previous notice and to top it off they charged me an additional 3% because i used a credit card to pay for my surgery. It would have been nice to let me know about this ahead of time to bring a check instead. All of this was because of miscommunication on their end according to the receptionist. Seriously?? I was on time 10:30AM my turn for surgery came at 5:00 PM appointment system sucks. I was there for 8 hrs total. Its like butcher shop, next next next .... They did 17 people in morning batch which went on till 6 PM. God knows till when did noon batch folks had to stay. They collect patients and do it on one day. Instead of 17 folks batch they can make batch of 4 and give time range 10:30 next 11:30 by the time 4 are done next four will be ready completing paperwork and tests. I had prk done about 3 months ago. I was a -6 going into the procedure. The doctor at my initial checkup told me I would know for sure if I needed prk or lasik the day of the procedure. I also did not know I was getting prk till I was in the surgery room. The form I signed the day of the procedure said I was getting lasik. Dr. Brand didn't do a good job explaining how much discomfort I would have with prk and that I may need to take a week off of work to recover. I didn't have too much time to think about how prk would affect me since I was already in the operating room and they were waiting for my decision. I am currently twenty twenty in my right eye but my left eye is still a little blurry or has some ghosting effects. The first three days after the surgery were painful so make sure you take enough time to recover. Its also interesting how they schedule a group of people for the operation and we go in one after another for the operation. Overall I am happy I got it done but I'm disappointed my recovery is taking a lot longer than people that had lasik. I also was very surprised how much discomfort I felt during the first week. I guess it was because it wasn't fully explained to me the side effects of this procedure. read more

He quoted me the price of the procedure and said "get your drug money ready" and was joking around a lot when I asked serious questions about the operation. Please read my Arlington Heights review for my entire story with my laser procedure. I had a terrible experience and am warning others so you have the info to make an informed decision. Your consultation will be with one of the Dr. Brands, but the surgeon here is someone different you will have never met before. He said he lives in Florida and flies in just to do these mass surgeries on Fridays and Saturdays. After waiting for 4 hours I was entered into the surgery room. This is where my first problem happened. I was suddenly informed, on the spot, by a surgeons assistant I had never met before, that I could not receive lasik, I would need something called PRK instead. I had never, up until this point in time, heard of PRK. I was asked on the spot, after waiting 4 hours, to sign a new consent form. I asked what is PRK? And was told it was the "same thing", I just "needed to take an extra eye drop everyday". If they try to tell you this, IT IS FALSE. It is nowhere near the same procedure. I agreed in my ignorance, and have regretted this decision for 7 weeks now. Immediately after the procedure (and keep in mind you are not given any anti anxiety medicines like other places do), I could not see much at all. I was immediately terrified, as I was not told anything beforehand about this. Everything I learned at this point was from my husband googling info for me. My vision the first week was around 20/70, when I could open my eyes. The pain and light sensitivity was incredible, which is normal, but again I was never warned about this. PRK is not a procedure that you can go back to work, drive, or resume your life right away. You will be housebound with blurry vision for some time. I'm 7 weeks out now and my vision is at best a blurry 20/30 with a lot of residual and added astigmatism. I have spent an incredible amount of money on various steroid drops, which then gave me elevated eye pressure, causing me to need even more expensive drops to lower the pressure. I am now seeing another doctor and spending extra money. Please read the rest of my review posted for the Arlington Heights location. Please do a lot of research and please meet with multiple doctors and pick one who you think will give you the individualized care you deserve. Price wise this is the cheapest I've seen the procedure at $1900 with the Groupon. I went for the consultation before I purchased the Groupon but I was still surprised that for such a large purchase for a Groupon that it was not a scam. LVI charged $3300 with a supposed 20% discount because the sun was shining. LASIK plus wanted my leg and $3750 also with a $600 discount because the sky is blue. You see and talk to the doctors more than other places that have you with a tech most of the time. Yes, you'll be there on the day of the surgery for 3-4 hours because they have people go in groups. The whole procedure takes about less than five minutes. I was able to see almost immediately. I even went out to eat afterwards. Discomfort is the best word to describe some of the unpleasant sensation regarding the surgery, but there is no pain. Two weeks later, I can see without any aid better than ever. You have to wear the goggles for a week while you sleep and take two eye drops four times a day as well, but that's no big deal. My vision is still improving as it takes a couple of months to fully heal. So I would definitely recommend going here unless you wanna pay double the price at LVI or LASIK plus. I received lasik using the Groupon and am thrilled with the results. My consult was at the downtown location. It was less than 30 minutes, very thorough and professional. I felt comfortable after meeting with the doctor (I don't know his name but he was great). The actual procedure was done at the Lombard location by Dr. Burger, who was awesome. I was there on a Saturday from 12:30 to 5:00. I don't understand people who complain about this. You are warned that it's going to take this long beforehand. And with a Groupon, I am okay waiting four more hours to save $2000 plus. The actual procedure takes a few minutes and it is an assembly line. But I didn't mine this. I don't want to have a conversation. Dr. Burger did tell me what to expect while he was performing the surgery (i.e. "It'll black out now." "You'll feel a suction.") I'd rather it be over quickly and save money. The next day, I went to the Arlington Heights location for the post op consult with Dr. William Brand. This takes five minutes. I had a 10:05 appointment and was seen at 10:20 - not a huge wait. Overall, it's a great value. The results are amazing - I can see everything so perfectly. A coworker and I took advantage of a YouSwoop deal for $1,900 Lasik in July of this year. I was extremely hesitant out of my nervousness of the procedure and the reviews on Yelp, but after several hours of researching the pros and cons of Lasik and a long conversation with Dr. Brand, he alleviated much of my concern and I went through with the procedure. Six months later, I have no regrets. I am 20/20 in both eyes and I LOVE not dealing with contacts or glasses. My coworker has 20/20 as well, and is as satisfied as I am. I am basing my review off of the end result of my Lasik, which turned out to my expectations and without complications. I won't debunk the previous reviews that mention a lack in customer care or personable consultation. This is not a "high-touch" experience as far as getting to know the Doctor - they are going to bring you in, show you a video, perform the surgery you paid for, and send you on your way. From what I've heard, this is common among these type of practices. The initial and subsequent follow up appointments, however, involve more one-on-one time and explanation around the surgery, recovery, and aftercare. Yes, you have to make it out to Lombard; yes, it does take half a day for a 10 minute procedure; and yes, it does seem like the procedure is trivial to them, but these guys know what they're doing and I'm extremely happy with the results. I would recommend having the procedure done if you come across a Groupon or YouSwoop deal, which I believe comes up often. read more

I just had LASIK yesterday. I see fine right now and have no issues and am very pleased, but I'd like to address some of the concerns in previous reviews. I'll preface this by saying i'm a pharmacist and have been around all different types of patients. I don't really write reviews but there are so many negative reviews that would deter people from excellent savings, I thought it would be a good idea. The people that matter (optometrists, optometry techs, and ophthalmologist) were very professional, prompt, and they did the job (that you paid a ridiculously low amount of money for if you got the $1900 groupon) really well. Multiple times they had asked if we had questions and not once did they seem inappropriate. Many reviewers stated that they were rude....when you're doing LASIK for $1900 of course you're going to try to increase the volume of clients you see, and you're probably more focused/concentrated on getting everyone in and out rather than making small talk. Most of the issues in the previous reviews are the patients own. I saw patients not paying attention to the instructional video, clearly stating they weren't going to follow the Drs procedure and go out rather than rest, 1 even refused to stay away from eye irritating chemicals at work the next day. To address concerns about the general staff, i'll agree that they probably aren't the best. My appointment was moved up by a week and I was not called. I found out when I had called to ask a question. I asked for a receipt to be sent to me so I could get started on FSA submission, it was never sent. This should NOT deter you in any way from getting LASIK here. You just have to be more proactive about the appointment and issues. Again, $1900 vs $5000...I think you can do some of the legwork. Follow their instructions and you will be fine. The price is great, the Drs are great, and in the end, if your vision is fixed, then what else matters? read more

I would definitely recommend. I purchased a Groupon for a LASIK procedure here and had it done in July of 2012. A number of friends thought I was crazy for purchasing surgery from a daily deal site, but not only did Vision One do a fine job but I saved a lot of money based on previous LASIK quotes I'd received from other doctors. The procedure itself took less than 10 minutes. It was 100% painless and I was able to see without issue immediately afterwards. The first evening my eyes watered a little bit but that was the only thing out of the ordinary. When I went back for my follow up two weeks later I was seeing 20/20 and told my sight would still continue to improve. The only inconvenient part was sitting in the waiting room waiting for my turn for the surgery, but that wouldn't have been so bad had I brought something to read. read more

I went in there for a consultation on a Tuesday for lasik, was informed right then and there I may need PRK... Scheduled for lasik/prk that Friday.. was there from 9:50 am to 2 pm, they did multiple tests to ensure your set. Ended up needing PRK, the staff was wonderful from the time u walk in to when you leave! Answered all my questions and put me at ease during this entire process... I even called Dr Brand after hours and he answered all my questions and assured me everything I was experiencing was normal. I will be referring all friends and family here! I admit I did read the yelp reviews AFTER I bought the LASIK deal from youswoop.com, and I was worried. However the deal said as long as I go in for an initial consultation, should I decide I don't want to go through with the ordeal then I can get my money back- to be on the safe side I did purchase the deal with my AMEX.A co-worker of mine went through the same procedure at the end of 2011 and he was seeing just fine. He told me about the wait and sitting in with a larger group of people and what to expect after the procedure so I was prepared. My initial consultation went fine- I was told I would be a good candidate for LASIK and scheduled my surgery. I got my procedure done the 3rd week of April and yes you are there for a few hours but a good deal of that time is going over what to do during and after the surgery. The procedure was quick and fast forward to now, I have 20-20 vision, actually just slightly better so I am more than satisfied with the work done by the doctors at VisionOne LASIK Center in Lombard. I got Lasik done a little over a month ago and I am SO happy I finally did it!! My vision is perfect and it feels great to never wear contacts/glasses. I was very skeptical to purchase a Living Social deal, but they did a great job with the procedure. I went to the Lombard location and everything ran very smoothly. My initial consult was quick and the actual Lasik procedure was unbelievably fast and painless! The only down side is that you have to be at the office for a few hours on the day of the Lasik procedure, but they warned me about this ahead of time so I brought my laptop to keep me busy. Update: I had my 2 week follow up and I tested for 20/15 Vision! I still have occasional haziness or halos at night from dryness. I do not have any discomfort whatsoever in the eye and actually don't even feel like my eyes are dry. I purchased a GroupOn for LASIK surgery at Vision One and am incredibly happy with the results as well as the entire process. Within less than 24 hours my vision was close to 20/20 and today after my 6 week post op check up my vision is even better than 20/20! The procedure was pretty much pain-free and the actual procedure for both eyes took less than 10 minutes. The most uncomfortable part of having the procedure for me was having to wear glasses for several weeks prior to the surgery as I really only ever wore contacts in public, and not being able to wear eye make-up for two weeks post op. I have already recommended Vision One to several friends, who are in the process of planning their LASIK procedures with Vision One. I wish I would have been able to do this a long time ago!! Husband and I had surgery done on same day. There were alot of people there for the same procedure, but it is done efficiently. The Dr. spent a good deal of time explaining what really happens, what to do and not to do and was very patient with our questions. We bought the deal from Groupon, with hesitancy of course, but we are glad we did it! I would and have highly recommend(ed) to my family and friends that they look into the procedure with this office. Had my procedure in April '13 - Here's an honest account of my experience. - Arrival at the Lombard office on/ahead of time, waited for about 30+ minutes with 12-15 others for Dr. Burger (surgeon) to come out & put on the instructional video and explain what will be happening. So far, I'm calm, no worries. - Pre-op procedure - they take you to a back room to have your eyes 'mapped', found out when I asked this was necessary to determine my candidacy for Lasik/PRK - no issues, fairly standard & quick, but little explanation of what they were measuring or why. This could have been better explained to calm the nerves on day of the visit. - I happened to be in the front of the line to have my procedure completed so I didn't have to wait (hours) to be done like some others, which was nice. Felt good right after surgery, no issues, but obvious light sensitivity. (PRK recovery is much longer than Lasik - you should ask about this if you get PRK) 2-days vs. 2-week recovery or longer for PRK. Yes that long. I did have a rough couple of days where I didn't feel comfortable driving with one eye open (the other was fine). You may want to plan a few days off after PRK procedure. Follow up visits were routine and their office did a great job at getting me in mid-day during my lunch break. Staff is friendly, (free wi-fi if you ask). Cost was VERY reasonable, but you're not paying to be pampered, if you want that, go pay $2k/eye somewhere else. If you follow there instructions post-op you'll be fine, I'm seeing EXCELLENT. I didn't rate this 5-star b/c to do so I expect a place to over exceed my expectation, which they did not, but they did meet every expectation they said I should expect. read more

I wanted better vision so I turned to Vision One as my only consultation, from beginning to end the experience was great and I loved every single part of it. I'm just mad I didn't go through with it sooner. The staff was Great, professional and made every single aspect of Lasik a breeze. I have already recommended Vision one to everyone I know and they will soon be happy with their vision once again. Lasik was better than expected and I am now seeing at 20/15. I purchased my voucher for LASIK surgery on Groupon and I think it was on of the best decisions in my life. Two hours after my surgery I got my visions 20/20 back. Finally after 15yrs of wearing lenses I was able to see clearl!! Procedure took one minute for both eyes, operating crew was very nice. Dr. Brand checked my viosn today again, 3 weeks after surgery, still perfect and mentioned that in time it will get even better. I am so so happy, I did it. There is nothing to be afraid of. Before I purchased my Groupon, which the deal seemed too good to be true compared to one of their competitors I had seen the week before and scheduled Lasik with, Half the cost here with VisionOne. I have to admit that I was hesitant to consider Lasik with a Groupon. As I read thru the reviews I took away the same message. People were seeing 20/20 and were very happy with their results not happy with the staff. There are many different personalities in this world and you will find that not everyone would be chosen to be "your freind" but are you here for a friendship or for Lasik? The office staff is polite. The facility is clean. The Eye Doctor decent. The surgeon very professional and knowledgable. As far as the group of people hurded thru for surgery yes, it is like a car wash atmosphere but the experience itself was awesome. I would definately recommend Dr. Brand and Dr. Berger for Lasik and the VisionOne Lasik Center. If you are looking for the personal one on one hand holding experience - head accross town and pay more for the warm and fuzzy feeling. read more

I'm surprised by some of the mixed or negative reviews. I had a very good experience. The consultation was fine, the doctor wasn't super warm but was direct and it was fine. The day of the surgery, I could have had a little more information about how they do the surgery but no big deal. There are several other people there, they do testing and then the surgery. You are there for several hours. But it really is very fast and not painful. And the next day, I have perfect vision. I thought the surgeon, dr. Burger, was very nice. And dr. Brand did my follow up and was also very kind and knowledgeable. I only wish I had done this sooner. read more

*This is only based on my consultation at the Chicago location.* So I found this spot on Groupon, like many others. I went into the consultation room with Dr. Brown. At first, things went great despite the fact that he seemed in a rush. I asked him a question about which type of lasik they perform since there are two different ways to perform lasik. He got all defensive about them doing it the older way because that was the best way and they way the Doctor preferred(Doc who performs procedure), which was fine. Then I mentioned I am familiar with how the process is since I'd been to LasikPlus for a consultation as well. He automatically turned from kinda rude to full on asshole. He said that it was the same thing as what they did and I'd get the same results. He also said that Lasik charges a lot more and that he did not care if I went to them or not because it's my money. I was a lot more interested in this place because of the price, but the way this guy was talking to me caught me off guard and I honestly did not know what to say or do in exchange. He said if I wanted to finance I would have to be charged more than groupon's offer, which seems fair. He quoted me at about $2,100, tax and other charges not included. LasikPlus quoted me at $3,862. HUGE difference. Although I came out of my consultation in shock from Dr. Brand being such a condescending jerk, I still considered going with them because I knew he was not the one performing the procedure. I continued to do my research and have decided against coming here for my Lasik. Customer service is huge when you are getting such an important surgery and having to travel from Chicago to Lombard for check-ups and what not. I would just rather be safe than sorry and deal with people that don't treat you like dirt. $2,100 is still a lot of money despite other places. I would have 100% went to this place is Dr. Jerk-o wasn't a jerk and their customer service was better. I am going to happily spend almost double the amount of money at LasikPlus since I am a valued customer there. This post may not mean anything to Dr. Jerk-o since it did not matter if I went with them or not, but I hope I can change whoever is reading this' mind. It's been over a year now and my wife's vision is great during day and night. So despite the less than stellar experience of the surgery itself, the overall results are everything we'd hoped for. As long as they still offer the $1900 Groupon, I'd say go for it... as long as you are relatively young. My Father-In-Law also went in for Lasik but he's around retirement age and because of the state of his eyes they had to do something different than the standard and I don't think he is happy with the result. read more

This is a review of how the Lombard staff helped me decide AGAINST getting Laser Eye Surgery. I bought a Groupon after years of wanting eye surgery and was so excited to get it done. I call and make an appointment and basically had my eyes checked to make sure I was a candidate for surgery. The doctor tells me that yes, I am a candidate, but the decision is up to the surgeon day of if I qualify for Lasik or if I will need PRK. He tells me PRK is essentially the same and only tailored for people with higher prescriptions, like me (I am -5.5 in both eyes). After doing some online research, I decide against PRK and if the surgeon tells me on the day of surgery that I do not qualify for Lasik, I will not have the procedure done. I call and ask if the surgeon can make a determination ahead of time so I do not have to go and waste my time. I was told that I could be the first seen and the surgeon would look over my chart right away and I would know within a few minutes if I would need to say for the 4-5 hours needed if I was having the procedure. Day of, I go to the Lombard location and ask if I need Lasik or PRK to which the receptionist tells me that I have to wait to see the surgeon. I ask how long I will need to wait to find out as I had my boyfriend there to drive me and if I was going to wait 4-5 hours, I would have sent him home. She told me my eyes would be checked right away. So I asked to confirm that I would only have to wait a few minutes before I knew if I needed Lasik or PRK, and she told me that the surgeon would let me know. So I asked again how long that would take. She told me that my eyes would be checked right away. NOT ANSWERING MY QUESTION. Now, why do you need to be there for 4-5 hours? BECAUSE IT MAKES NO SENSE HOW THEY RUN THINGS. 1. Your eyes get tested by a tech - about 1-2 minutes. 2. Then they make you sit in a waiting area until all other 12 patients for the day also show up and get their eyes tested. 3. After everyone has arrived and is sitting for a while, they take you one-by-one to another room for a doctor to verify your prescription (better 1 or 2/what is the lowest line you can read, etc) 4. They make you watch a video with the doctor essentially reading you the consent form that they make you read, initial, and sign before going in for your first eye testing 5. They pass out packages to go home with - goggles, eye guards, drops, etc 6. Receptionist asks everyone to come up one-by-one to schedule the follow up appointment for the next day 6A. I was told upon my first consultation that my next day appointment could be in Chicago, as that was where I got my consultation. I asked for the Chicago office and receptionist told me no, it HAS to be the Lombard office. 6B. I then ask for the latest appointment since I have over an hour drive and I had plans for early the following morning. She tells me 9:15. There is nothing available after 9:15? No, the doctor is not in late. Nothing later than 9:15? Maybe 9:30. I look over and see that her appointment sheet is blank through 11:30. But I needed to be there by 9:15? Right. 7. At this point, I've been there for 2 hours and ask when I will know what procedure I need done. I am told that the surgeon needs to look over my chart and will do so soon. 8. Finally I am pulled into a small dark corner in the operating room and the surgeon comes in and talks to me, immediately and defensively asking why I do not want PRK. I tell him that I did not like the extra risks involved, did research etc. He tells me okay... I can do Lasik on you then. I ask to make sure that I do not NEED PRK. He says he would prefer to do it on me, but he can do Lasik, but that later he cannot do any touch ups on me if my vision isn't perfect. So, I ask, without PRK, you cannot guarantee that I will have perfect vision? He tells me 3-5% of patients need touch ups. Okay, but what is the likelihood that I will need a touch up based on my prescription? 3 to 5 percent he tells me. So I will need glasses after? 3 to 5 percent of patients do. And if I get the PRK will I need to wear glasses after? 3 to 5 perfect of patients do. So PRK is not really better? It is, he tells me. So... the risks go up but I might not still be able to see? "I don't know how many other ways I can say this- 3-5 percent of patients will need glasses or contacts after surgery." He got loud, condescending, and seemed to forget that he was trying to talk me into doing irreparable (potentially) damage to the only pair of eyes I get. I told him that I very well understood the 3-5% thing, but I wanted to know with my prescription, if I was basically guaranteed to be in that 3-5% patient range, or if he really should not be recommending me for Lasik. Then he tells me I can leave and decide to come back later after I have a chance to research. 9. The receptionist tried to change my mind. The surgeon who would have done my procedure was Dr. Burger. They made me write Dr. Brand on consent form. read more

WILLIAM B IS THREATENING ME THROUGH PRIVATE EMAILS ON YELP! I updated my post about William B's email harassment 3 YEARS AFTER MY EXPERIENCE, and mentioned that 2 other dissatisfied customers have contacted me about similar experiences of being harassed and bullied about their posts, or told they would have a better experience if they take down their post and come in again. I have since received a threatening email, claiming that if I don't provide the names and emails of the dissatisfied customers to be "tracked down" (literal quote!) and take down my post -- both of which I refuse to do -- that his "lawyer sons" will take legal action against me for slander, and if I don't want this to "get out of control" or "in courts," I should call him immediately to take care of this. He literally said that my post isn't good for him so it isn't good for me. I honestly feel threatened and frightened. They claim that it is "unfair" for me to talk about what I was told about a refund, completely ignoring that it is fair (this is yelp is for!) and it is unfair for them to treat me -- or anyone -- this way. I am merely speaking about my opinion and my experience, like this specific email threat I received, and am in accordance to all Yelp Guidelines. In all my reviews, I spoke of hyper-aggressive, unprofessional, predatory and unethical behavior at Vision Lasik, and but this is far worse than I imagined. They have hundreds of reviews, but why they have chose to harass and threaten me YEARS after the fact -- especially since I got my refund -- truly frightens me, and I sincerely hope everyone reads this and seriously considers what's at stake when you choose this company. If you dare to speak out, they may threaten and bully you (and others they perceive to help you) like they are currently doing to me. Again, as before, I can only speak to my experience, but please know that I feel that I am not alone in these experiences given what others have shared (read the reviews!). Given my experiences with this place, I believe the ppl who shared their experiences with me -- read the negative reviews, they all speak to the virtually the same experience of being bullied or mislead! -- and wrote in my previous update I believe their bullying tactics is why Lasik One's yelp rating is likely inflated. Nearly three years after my experience with them, William B contacted me saying that I should take my post down b/c they are "not living social" and that living social "knows" when ppl don't get the surgery and therefore Vision One has no need to ever call living social. Twice, in 2 separate reviews (and now in this third review!), I said that they needed to let living social know that I DIDN'T DO THE SURGERY so that living social could refund me (not that Lasik One has to refund me personally or that they have to negotiate with living social about refunding my money) and that when I finally called living social to see where my refund was, they said they were never contacted by Lasik One that I did not get the surgery, as I was told they would do. Regardless, what William B. FAILS to understand is that whoever *has* to call living social is immaterial. I was given specific information about my refund AT THE TIME and shared my experience. Whether or not someone had the wrong information, they just forgot to call, purposefully mislead me, or whatever other excuses there could be for telling me they would call but did or could not, the point is that I was told they would do it and they didn't -- not that it can't be done by them at all (as they are claiming now). I can't take down my post just b/c they claim it's not their responsibility three years after the fact; that would be unethical. (They also fail to understand that I had my friend and husband there who also heard this information, and witnessed some of their bullying behavior. If they really wanted to know what happened and correct it, they should have asked me about my experience and who told me this information rather than just sending me harassing and threatening emails about taking down my post.) I IMPLORE YOU ALL, DO NOT USE THIS PLACE-- IT IS MORE THAN JUST BEING UNPROFESSIONAL, THEY ARE UNETHICAL AND AGGRESSIVE. DO NOT RISK YOUR PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, AND MENTAL SAFETY. NOTHING IS WORTH BEING BELITTLED, HARASSED, AND EVEN THREATENED BY THESE BULLIES. I MADE THE MISTAKE OF NOT RESEARCHING THIS PLACE BEFORE I PAID FOR SURGERY, PLEASE TAKE CAUTION! PS: I have contacted Living Social, and they confirmed that when doing a large purchase like this (it was $1900), they typically have to confirm with the company that the surgery did not take place, and often companies call and inform living social first. I have had this happen before with a voucher for a hair treatment that was no longer offered; the salon called living social to let them know that they could not honor the voucher.
