I've stayed at this property before and had a truly magical experience -especially the mornings when elephants would bring breakfast, which was unforgettable. This time, we stayed in a different bungalow (Monkey Palace), and while the setting is still beautiful, the experience didn't quite live up to what we remembered. The elephants are no longer part of the experience, which was disappointing, especially since price is still the same if not more. The bungalow itself could use some maintenance-our remote didn't work, the heater was broken, and there was a small hole in the door that let in spiders and lizards at night. It just felt like some of the charm has faded and upkeep has been overlooked a bit. There also seem to be more added charges now, which made the stay feel less all-inclusive than before. That said, most of the staff were absolutely lovely-friendly, informative, and welcoming. We really appreciated their kindness. One staff member did come off as a bit rushed and disengaged, which stood out during otherwise positive trip. I understand people have long days, but part of what makes this place special is the immersive, welcoming atmosphere. This property still has a lot of potential and we hope it gets back to the magical experience we once had.

Yes it's a Zoo, Yes there different opinions about the captivity of animals. However if you are comparing zoos this one is far more superior compared to other places like San Diego or Los Angeles. But they need your support to ensure they can keep doing what they do. I like this place because it's less crowded and off the beaten path. You can stay over night, feed the animals and have close encounters with them while still respecting the fact they are not tamed/domesticated. I would recommend this place to others so they can continue providing a quality of life for the animals they do have. Please support them, stop by on your next road trip. The zoo is compact so you can see all the animals within an hour. About overnight stays: Set your expectations accordingly. It's glamping at a zoo. The lodging is still a canvas tent structure exposed to the elements. Can still be fun for the family.

My daughter went again, but this time with mom, dad and little brother. It was THE BEST! It was an incredible experience. I don't think my kids appreciated it as much as I did. The nature of it all and listening to lions outside our bungalow all night. Feeding the tigers and putting the rhinos to sleep were awesome. When else do you get to do that?! I didn't know much about rhinos before, but now I have a whole new appreciation for them. Unfortunately, the rain limited our experience within the zoo itself, but it wasn't anything anyone had control over. I can't express enough how cool the experience was and would highly recommend to others!

I love Vision Quest Ranch and the Zoo, This last trip I did the new "Walk the Rhinos" It was so much fun. They have three Rhinos and I got to meet all of them up close. I took tons of videos and pictures. I also got to pet the Rhino, and fed them too. It was amazing, and I highly recommend the Walk with the Rhinos experience. I've been here many times. I love staying in the bungalows, meeting the animals, and the views are amazing. The staff is outstanding and so knowledgeable. The bungalows have two heaters, and a heated blanket on the bed, and I've never been cold at night, even in the winter. I love hearing the lion roar all night long.

My Daughters gave me a Mother's Day present of visiting Vision Quest B and B. Do not think it's a typical Bread and Breakfast. You stay in canvas tents which makes the experience rustic. We had a great time the first day being with a small group of people touring the place where the smaller animals lived. We had the experience to feed Butch, one of the Elephants carrots for a snack. We also got the opportunity to wash Butch him with a large soapy brush. He was behind large metal bars, easy to reach him to wash and touch him. In the evening we went into the building where he sleeps and got to feed him again. We went into Salinas for dinner and found a great restaurant called Patria. It's a great restaurant, it is on the expensive side so you won't want to take the kids there. When you check in they give you information about turning on the heater fan before you go on the tour in the evening. You will want to do that because it does get chilly in the evening. We brought two blankets with us because I had read about it can get cold. It was a lot of fun and we learned so much. It was also fun feeding the Tigers their dinner and seeing the large cats, such as the Lions in their enclosures. There are different options of tours to take. You can see what sounds interesting and then call the front desk so they can explain which tour sounds good for you. In the morning they deliver a box that had bananas, apples, bagels, and pastries, it was perfect for us. They also have some drinks in the fridge that is free. It was a great weekend trip for us, so different and exciting.

Had one of the best times! The website can be overwhelming but if you call or email the staff will walk you through your stay. Angie was a huge help. All of the trainers and staff were fantastic. It's extremely cold at night, you are sleeping in pretty much a tent so be prepared. Space hearted doesn't work well and the bed warmer takes the edge off but not nearly enough. Noting to do in the city due to COVID so you don't really need more than a one night stay. We did all of the activities between the day we arrived and the next day. The continental breakfast, pastries were yummy and the bagels were large and fresh. Lost of food per person. Coffee is available but if you're a coffee snob, find the local Starbucks. If you're an elephant lover this is the place for you!

Reserved this place for 459.00 for room number 7 for 2 adults and 2 kids for 2/1. Read these warnings first: No restaurant on site No microwave In winter months bring warm long johns extra clothes and YOU MUST bring your own extra blankets for each bed because it is super cold at night. Bring a 12 pack of bottled water, soda, snacks that can be refrigerated and eaten cold. We arranged for the bears den #7. No view of the animals, you have to walk across to the viewing deck There is a gas station and a tiny restaurant within DrivIng distance. I ordered from doordash And had to drive to main entrance to accept delivery, as you are not allowed to give them access code to make Deliveries. We ordered Thai and Italian. We checked In at 2pm. Got in the room right away. Room was clean with 2 full beds, Sitting table with 2 chairs. Television, space heater, wall heater, bathroom with 4 robes, coffee maker with tea, hot chocolate, nice refrigerator to store drinks and things to make cold sandwiched, shower with limited hot water , sink, toilet, hair dryer, towels and alarm clock. Bring your cell to call front desk. You need a phone charger And there is no WiFi. I paid 469.00 for room and 70.00 for 2 tiger feedings. The room has a view of greenery. You get in and out with a code. You have to drive 7-8 miles into town for good food. Staff was friendly but rooms need renovation. Animals were cool but sparse

We had a wonderful stay at Vision Quest Ranch! Did a mother daughter trip and booked a VIP tour through the Zoo. The staff are wonderful, they truly care about the animals here. Our tour guide Lanier was fantastic! Both knowledgeable and friendly and quite funny. We enjoyed her and the wealth of knowledge she brings. We got to pet and scrub the rhinos, feed and pet a Cavy and Kangaroo, and feed a Camel. What a unique stay that will provide endless amounts of wonderful memories! The BnB itself was comfortable and warm, plenty of food for breakfast. We could hear lions and hyenas all night. Would definitely come back and bring the whole family!

What an amazing experience- truly one of a kind and you get exactly what you would expect from reading reviews. The warm do everything staff makes you feel so involved and truly feel like you are a part of the zoo! We stayed a Joseph's room at the edge and we loved it! Comfy yet stiff bed - the heated mattress was so good I have one being delirious my house yes it can get cold but at 50 degrees we did not sleep in sweats the heater plus mattress pad & of course socks was plenty. The crunch time experience was unforgettable and the lions roaring in the pen next to us just made it that much better. My one regrets - we didn't put butch to bed - and there really isn't much to do around there... Get ready fir lion roaring nights and hyenas wooping. Followed by roosters who don't know about daylight savings time. All in all it was perfect. Can't wait to come back with kidos

Our little Bungalow - Joseph's Jungle #6

This was the best stay of our vacation. First and foremost, this is Glamping at the Monterey Zoo. The Monterey Zoo is a small non-profit zoo that is still very young. It is my speculation that the B&B is used as an additional funding source for the zoo and to raise additional awareness for the zoo. It's imperative when you stay with Vision Quest B&B you are mindful that it is non-profit for the zoo, and that it is not in the same peer group of other hotels and B&Bs, it is Glamping and is a unique experience!! You have amenities of a comfortable bed, running water, a shower, and a great yurt like tent that will keep you dry and protected from the elements. Again you are Glamping, so if there is a storm, you may experience the winds in a way you have never experienced them and sounds are like you are outside. It is fantastic! Check in is at 3:30. You should for sure check in at that time since the animal walk starts at 3:45 and is followed by the tiger feeding and then the elephant bed time (package add ons). There are other packages that you can do and I think you can do those the next day. It is best to call ahead, but everyone at the Monterey Zoo works with the animals, so you may need to leave a message and someone will be back with you. All staff was polite and nice. Sometimes they seemed tired, but that is understandable. The zoo has over 100 animals and it is extremely evident each worker knows each of the animals, their behaviors, needs, and puts the animal's and the guests safety first while wanting to give everyone new exposure to the animals to have a great experience. Should you check in late, call ahead. There may be a late fee. We drove from LA and arrived after 6. We called ahead and were told there was a late fee. We didn't know ahead of time. But we understood. It was clearly spelled out in the email we received ahead of time. Plus we were staying 2 nights and we wanted to enjoy our drive on CA-1! When we arrived late Angie drove up and checked us in, another keeper was in the car with a kangaroo. Clearly, the staff is always working with animals and they deeply care. So arriving late is getting the workers off their schedule with the animals! We stayed in bungalow #6. The inside of the bungalow has electricity for a mini refrigerator, small heaters, lamps, and a space heater. The bed has a heated mattress pad with two sided control. The refrigerator came with small waters, orange juices, and a small coffee maker. You have a hair dryer and towels also available. A tv is available but there are only a couple channels available and no internet. This is no bother because, again, this is Glamping. We would have been pleased without a TV. If you need to have your streaming you will need to bring your own fire stick (or equivalent) and use your phone as a hotspot. Card games, board games, a good book, or just enjoying great conversation is also wonderful. The bungalow had a great private outdoor cool water tub. We really wanted to use it, unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate since it was rainy and cooler on the day we hung out. In the morning continental breakfast was delivered by a zoo worker. It was in a cute box that gave directions on where to go for feeding the elephants. Breakfast included two fresh bagels, two pastries, a croissant, 2 apples, 2 yogurts, 2 bananas, cream cheese, and jelly. The baked goods were so fresh, we think they must come from a local bakery. Feeding the elephant in the morning was really fun, the trainer was informative and They make sure you get great pictures with Butch. Evening Crunch Time is an amazing experience and worth the add on. You see the tigers up close and see the different personalities. The zoo keeper explains where they come from, why the coloring is different, and how the zoo obtained each tiger. You get a nice q & a session and the keeper is very knowledgeable and able to answer with great detail. Again, it's evident that the organization handles the animals with great care, is a newer zoo that plans to grow. Elephant Bedtime is also well worth the add on to be up close and personal with these magnificent beasts. They are so gentle and you can see they have relationships with their trainers. There is again, a Q &A session and more snacks for the elephants to interact with the animals. A unique experience to have great memories. Overall Vision B&B gets 5 Stars for a fantastic, unique, once in a lifetime Glamping experience. It was peaceful to listen to the animals roar through the night, the trickle of the rain, and have hands on experience with animals. We enjoyed the animal walk, feeding elephants and tigers, and loved seeing some animals we have never seen at the Monterey Zoo. We enjoyed our getaway at the Joseph's Jungle, and relaxed watching the elephants do elephant things, and loved that sassy zebra frolic with Butch.

I cant say enough how beautiful, idyllic oasis this was. Gorgeous room, loved outdoor tub, meeting the animals, and feeding the camel Humphrey , breakfaat and hearing lions, and wild anumals beyond cool.. I went to the animal park ten years ago , coming again in 2022 words cannot express how well the animals cared fir, habitats wonderful, staff gear and engaging.

I truly did not know what to expect as I had never heard of Vision Quest Ranch until I saw a Groupon for it. I am so glad I came here! The zoo itself isn't super big, we went on a holiday weekend and it was perfect. Not too crowded, they had a variety of animals and some were surprisingly very active. After visiting the zoo, we checked in promptly at 2:30 (as advised via a phone call so we could go to our bungalows and then see the animals coming to visit.) We drove over to our bungalows and found a cute set up. We stayed In the pachyderm palace. Liked: the whole feel of the place, coffee machine and fridge. They provided toiletries. Disliked: how close it was to the highway, not the best view of animals from this bungalow. It wasn't as cold at night as I thought (read previous reviews, so I came prepared). The breakfast the next morning was some tasty pastries , yogurt and fruit. We got to feed animals the next morning, that was unexpected so it was a nice little surprise. Definitely would like to go back and stay in a different bungalow.

I read about Vision Quest in a travel magazine (T&L, I believe), and couldnt wait to visit! How had I never heard of this place, and I live only an hour away?!? Anyway, the hubs and I brought the entire family for a day-tour of the property and the animals, which was short but AWESOME! Our tour guide was pleasant enough, but extremely knowledgable, which bumped her score from a 7 to a 10! The animals were fascinating, so my only gripe is that we couldnt spend more time at each habitat! After the tour, half of the family left, and we kept three nephews to check into the B&B with us. We were given our key, the rules, and a very warm welcome. So far so great! Once we got up to our bungalow (picture a stand-alone hotel room, with canvas walls....perfect concept!), we were thoroughly impressed! It was clean, pretty modern (while still "safari'ish"), and had everything we needed. As we settled in, one of the [amazing] staff members was walking an exotic animal (I believe it was a cross between a raccoon and a monkey, haha!), and brought him up to our bungalow to let the kids check him out. She offered great info, was extremely friendly, and went out of her way to let the kids get an up-close-and-personal view of the little guy. From there, we opted into the "Crunch Time" tour, which was a private viewing of the big cats and their dinnertime! We all got to help feed them, and learned a lot about the different cats' inherit personalities and instincts when it came time to eat. Once in a lifetime opportunity for all of us! After that, we did "Butch's Bedtime", which was an opportunity to feed the elephants, and watch them wind down for the night inside the barn. The kids loved it, and we got some terrific photos! When we ended the night in our bungalow (after the kids spent a couple of hours chasing lizards in front) playing card games and talking about the day - but the kids were excited to go to sleep because they knew that the morning would bring another great adventure - breakfast brought to our bungalow by Butch the elephant! We waited for him on the front porch and got to see him bring breakfast to the other bungalows before he came to our's. We fed him, got to touch him, and got some great pictures! All in all - it was a fantastic opportunity! What made it so great was the staff, the bungalow, and the chance to see how well taken care of these animals are! I was a bit hesitant to support a place that caged wild animals, but as you tour the grounds, you see that that isnt the case at all. The animals are ALL walked every day and have plenty of play time outside. You'll learn that they actually PREFER the safety of their own private compound, and they live terrific and pampered lives at Vision Quest. Well done, and kudos to everyone on the staff! read more

I purchased a visit through groupon. I went to book online and it charged my credit card so I called to have them credit my card back. The person I spoke with (I believe her name was Pepper) was able to help but was very condescending with her responses. Apparently I was suppose to call and not book online (my bad) however, talking down to a customer should never be ok. The day of our visit we had to check in at the office which according to their directions state there are signs that will point the way. Yes there signs....but not one pointed out the office to check in for the bed and breakfast. So we eventually found the office and went to check in. Someone had to be called up to handle the check in. She also had a bit of a tone, and talked to us as if we were children checking in. She had to go over the rules with us which was fine, but try talking to me like a big girl = ) Then she asked us if we had any questions, I saw she had a list of restaurants and asked about it. She told me she would be going over it with us....ok so then don't act like your done and ask if we have questions. Save that for the end! And all of this while we stand around in their gift shop which smells like dogs, because they have a kennel attached to it. Really?? You couldn't make those 2 things separate? *****This is why its marked as 4 stars****** customer service is important to me. The place however, ended up being a lot of fun. The bungalows are very cute and cozy. They do come with TV's but only a couple of channels....so bring DVD's from home to watch if you wanna watch TV. It also has a nice mini fridge....but no Microwave. We stayed in March on a very cold rainy day. The bungalows do not retain heat at all....but they come with a heater that puts out great heat....but is very loud. The bed also has an electric blanket that worked great. The next morning the elephant came by to serve breakfast.....she was very cute and made the trip fun! Her handler and the lady that gave us the breakfast were very nice. Overall it was a fun place......but needs to work a bit on customer service!! read more

Just stayed here for the night and I am beyond words the bungalow are amazing very comfy and romantic and the views are breath taking makes you feel like you are really in a safari you get to hear the animals at night.. my boyfriend loved it so much he wants to come back!!! We both did the bed time activity where you feed the Elephants before they go to sleep and to top it all off this morning the elephants stopped by your bungalow with a breakfast box (pastries +fruits) and you get to take amazing picture and feed them again:)))) read more

Highly recommended! We stayed for two days. The meet and greet with the animals was great. My favorite was the squirrel monkey! Butch's bedtime was great... we got to meet three of the elephants and give them snacks before their bedtime. We stayed in bungalow 4... very roomy and comfortable. Everything in the room worked perfectly. We even heard the lions at night. So cool! In the morning, two elephants came by and were given a huge breakfast. It consisted of 3 pastries, 2 bagels, apples, bananas, and yogurts. Way more than we could eat but we had snacks left for later. We did the pachyderm package which was an extended private tour and we got to bathe an elephant. Lucy was a great tour guide!! We got to see the big cats and bears new enclosures which were absolutely beautiful. Thank you for a wonderful way to spend my birthday! Definitely coming back. read more

Wouldn't really consider this a zoo, more of an exotic animal SHELTER. If you've been to the San Francisco Zoo or Oakland Zoo you're going to be disappointed by this place. The animals are kept in these inhuman small cages and they all seems like they anxious and scared. Compared to any other zoo I've been to these animals just seem depressed. The tour guide mentioned that they received big donations which they put towards decorations like the front sign, seems like their priorities are mixed up. The living conditions are not fit and couldn't help but feel bad for them. They put all of their funds towards the bigger animals and let the smaller ones suffer in small cages. They had a panther in cage smaller a small car. Owner did showcase good business etiquette towards customers and wanted to overcharge for everything. Sorry excuse for a zoo would not come back. read more

This place is amazing! Elephant delivers breakfast. Tour is at 1pm daily and free included in your bed and breakfast stay over. It's around $200-$280 a night. It's such a good deal for a very comfortable king size bed, canopy, patio, sofa area, bathroom, all nicely stocked and the decor is beautiful inside a bungalow tent cabin. You get a parking space right out front and facing the elephant retirement sanctuary plot with ostriches zebra and water buffalo. And the 1pm tour includes seeing their hyena cats lion tiger monkey porcupine etc.! And around 4pm they walk the animals and bring some by your bungalow. They also have full contact packages which are amazing you get to touch and play with all the animals. Many are famous from movies. Love it. All the money goes to the elephant foundation here so help support it! It's a good cause and it's an amazing experience! All night and morning there are Sounds of roaring lions dogs etc. People are very friendly here. And there are some decent restaurants around here. It's super cold when we stayed so turn on the heater and wear warm stuff! read more

We stayed this past Friday in the "Big Cat House" bungalow and LOVED it. I got this for my boyfriend for his birthday and it exceeded our expectations. Booking and check in were very easy. The zoo tour was a lot of fun. It is great to see them expanding. For such a small facility they have some really great animals and a group of very knowledgeable staff. The Big Cat House bungalow overlooks the elephant paddock and watching Butch, Buffy, Christy, and Paula do their thing was so relaxing. We got to hear some trumpeting, some deep rumbles, and watched them hang out with their water buffalo, ostrich, and zeebra roomies. The room is nicely decorated, very clean, and has great views. The heated mattress pad really helped out (we went in late May, but due to the proximity to the Pacific Ocean, things cool down quite a bit at night). We felt like we had been transported to Africa the entire time. Once night fell we were surrounded by the strange and wonderful sounds of the nocturnal zoo inhabitants. To note, the hyena and lion were sounding off from dusk until about 4am when the lion finally gave up. I slept like a baby, but my boyfriend didn't sleep a wink. Despite his lack of sleep he thought the experience was worth it and loved every second of being there. They brought some animals on walks by our bungalow and Paula and Christy (elephants) brought us our breakfast! It was incomparable. If you are not one who is capable of experiencing the wonder around you and keeping yourself occupied with anything other than a screen, there is a tv in the room, as well as electricity (outlets to plug in your various devices). In addition to the great experiences at our bungalow, we participated in the Pachyderm Package (where we got to give an elephant a bath and feed them some snacks), Crunch Time (we fed the tigers and a linx!), and Butch's Bedtime (we helped put the elephants to bed). I would recommend this experience to anyone! If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs or headphones. My one complaint is that the water in the bungalow had a strong sulpher smell, but the experience was so amazing that I didn't mind it. read more

I have to say that there is nothing negative I could possibly think of while writing this review. We loved that we were greeted in the morning with roars from the lions. The staff, animals, amenities, location, and B&B were all amazing. This is a place to go to! We will definitely be returning with some family members to enjoy this experience as much as we did. Birthday getaway October 2016! We stayed onsite... Had a great time although the toilet in our room didn't work the entire time and caused a few unpleasant mishaps... we did pay the additional monies to feed the tigers (through a fence) which was fun to experience although short lived... the view from our room was beautiful and peaceful... we could watch elephants roam all day and sit outside and enjoy a drink or two... we also paid additional to "put the elephants to bed" which was worth the money to be that close and since they are more mellow you actually feed them by hand... a very majestic experience overall.. read more

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a night about a month ago. We stayed in Joseph's Jungle cabin #6. Such a great experience! We started out with the Pachyderm tour which was about 2 1/2 hours and ended with bathing and feeding elephant Butch. The cabin was spacious and clean. Included a refrigerator and coffee pot. Cabin #6 is the most private and also includes a private outdoor bathing area. It is so quiet and peaceful, even though we were able to hear wind and the elephants and some other animals communicating at night. The bed was also very comfortable! It gets very cold at night, even in the summer, so you will want to turn the heater on early. There are also heated blankets on each side of the king size bed and that made the nights sleep even better. Breakfast was delivered by a staff member around 8:30am which included 2 bagels, 2 danish, 2 bananas, 2 apples, 2 yogurt, and complementary orange juice and water. Such a fantastic experience! We would love to be able to do it again. read more

Would definitely not recommend. The party I was with had booked a tour for a 3 year old birthday. The tour, which is overpriced for what it is, was not very enjoyable. They basically walk you through the zoo and repeatedly tell your whole group to stay together, don't lag behind and remind the children not to touch the chains marking the " do not walk any closer" area. They have a recently renovated area for the bears and big cats which is nice, and plans to renovate other parts for the smaller animals. But the cages the smaller animals are currently in are small and not very nice. The animals look lethargic and sad. After the 1 hour tour we went to the "pavilion" that my family members had paid $150 dollars to reserve, which ended up being a bunch of picnic tables on the top of a hill; no shade, no covering, nothing! Then the kicker was my family who were there to celebrate their 3 year olds birthday (which they told the people when they made the reservation) had booked an overnight stay at one of the bungalows. After the tour and lunch at the "pavilion" they went to check if the bungalow was ready and were told no children under 4 were allowed. WHAT? And they would not be giving them their money back for the bungalow. Totally rude and not sorry in the least. The only thing this place cares about is getting your money. Even if the experience had been enjoyable, the service and treatment we were given was horrible and not worth my time or the money they try to gouge out of you. read more

Came during the busy Memorial Day weekend for our 40th Anniversary with good friends. We stayed in the Big Cat bungalow. We had a fantastic time. We did a few add on to our stay. We were able to feed the animals and we did the elephant meet and greet. We also took the tour of the zoo. The staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable. Our room was very comfortable and the elephants delivering our breakfast was awesome. We had a fantastic Anniversary. read more

Amazing place! It's like really expensive camping. You've got to stay more than one night, and do everything you can afford. Elephants bring you breakfast, there's all sorts of animals to see & learn about. The trainers here are all very knowledgeable, patient and great at answering questions. We had a handler named Declan doing most of our tours, he was great! Love hearing the Lions and Hyena all night. Worth every penny, and can't wait to come back. read more

BIG CAT HOUSE!! Best one in the whole place. Closest to the big cat enclosures (so you'll be eaten first if they ever get out of their cages. kidding. I think the cats will eat the dogs first.) The wind was horrible and against a canvas tent it made for a loud evening. However, the roar of the lion all night made up for it. This is a lifetime experience that everyone should have. Truly, glamping at it's best!! The bed had electric warmers, flush toilets, water heater. etc. Lanier and Siri were awesome tour guides. Crunch Time and Butch's bedtime are experiences that can't be beat, worth the extra money. The only downer was the folks that showed up (not B&B guests) and kept pushing all the kids out of the way so that they and their kids could experience it all. (The group was way too big, but since it's a money maker, I guess I'll deal. and big hint: don't go in July when the crowds are huge.) While the zoo part is working on improving their facilities, you can see how much the trainers love their jobs and how dedicated they are to the animals. Loads of information provided and constantly asking "are there questions". I appreciated the extreme patience they demonstrated as the littler ones stammered out questions that were cheerfully answered. (GO LANIER!) :) The elephant-delivered breakfast was the icing on the cake. So fun to feed the pachyderm and then enjoy a surprisingly large box with assortment of yogurts, pastries and fruit. only downer was the "coffee machine" in the tent was terrible coffee. Will be back to check out the facilities as they build out the bear habitat and watch the zoo grow. WIll DEFINITELY recommend to anyone who asks. read more

We loved it! It was unfortunate that they charged me an extra $100 at the time of checkout for 2 extra guests (which was not mentioned when I had checked in and they knew). They could have at least given us 4 servings of food since they already charted my credit card. I mentioned it to the lady who checked me out, apparently she's probably immune to complaints since she didn't even acknowledge what I had to say. read more

Wow, this place is great!! The staff, lodgings, location, and of course animals were all incredible. My partner suprised me by bringing me here for my birthday and I couldn't have been happier. We did the VIP tour, stayed overnight, and it was so worth it. We got to handle a siberian lynx, monkey, and wash and help feed an African Elephant that brought us breakfast in the morning. Even if you've been on safari you should check this out. It was very educational, without being boring, and the staff obviously all have a lot of dedication and passion for the animals. I would recommend Vision Quest to anyone who loves animals and wants to get some hands on experience with them. We took the staff's and yelp recomendations and went to Elements Bistro right down the street for dinner and it was also fantastic. If you're staying here, or just want a great place to eat, check out Elements while in the neighborhood. read more

Went on one of the daily tours last week. It is great to see wild animals, but would rather see them in a better environment than just cages. The cages seem well maintained, but it doesn't seem natural for them to be living on concrete. :( read more

Awesome experience with the animals. Has a lot of animals not found at regular zoos. We stayed in bungalow 5 The Zebra Bungalow. It looked over the elephant pin so you can stare at the elephants and couple other animals. Loved seeing the big beautiful tigers and lions up in their OZ area. Best part was having the elephants come to our bungalow deck in the morning. read more

We spent the night in one of the tent cabins and enjoyed the Crunch feeding experience as well as the Put the Elephants to bed. In the morning we had breakfast served by the elephants and participated in the Packaderm Package. It was amazing. The tent cabin is definitely rustic but comfortable. I would recommend this experience to my friends and will be back for the VIP tour. read more

animals love my excellent wife, and she loves animals, which bodes well for me. the staff at vision quest ranch love what they are doing, and are quite kind to the likes of us. we stayed in the tents twice, toured the compound once, and look forward to going again. lions and hyenas challenge each other loudly at night. hawks strafe the grounds. ostriches pace and challenge us to duels. we feed the elephants, and they bring breakfast to us. the fourth of july and new years parties are worth the price of admission. expect significantly warmer and cooler temperatures there than in the rest of the city. when the wind blows hard, tents shake and make lots of noise. i like the shower, bathroom, and hot tub. element bistro is very close. eat there, tip well, and tell misty that we sent you. read more

WoW, Brought the wife here for her Birthday due to her love for elephants. I must say at first I was sceptical due to my love for animals. As soon as we checked in I was truly amazed. Our bungalow #8 was mind blowing. To the point that my wife wanted me to take pictures for a possible bungalow retirement home. The Staff was exceptional. If you want the 4 seasons or the Sheraton grand service GO THERE. But if you want to be surrounded by like minded animal lovers THIS IS YOUR PLACE. wE STAYED 2 NIGHTS and did the Pachyderm Package. and Butches Bed time WE LOVED IT. Cant wait to return. I walked all around the property and found 2 pieces of garbage both of which came from previous guests. The only bad side was No Wifi. So I had to wait to get home to share the AMAZING ONCE IN A LIFETIME PHOTOS. read more

Solid Four stars if your looking for a place to stop and spend the night. I wouldn't go out of my way to stay here but it was really fun and a unique experience that you can't find anywhere else unless your in Africa! So this place has tours that start at 1pm, they also have a B&B which obviously we stayed at. Ill review them separately B&B Not too expensive for a niche place, your stay comes with a visit in the afternoon by a trainer and small animal (two if your lucky) and they offer some add ons such as feeding the big cats and or putting the elephants to bed. We did the tiger lion feeding, after doing goodnight tour which also comes with your stay and is at 1pm everyday I believe, I felt it was very cool because the animals know it's feeding time and are very active. Back to the B and B... Great room we stayed in the Joseph's jungle room and is a little ore secluded then the others but comes with a outdoor tub on a private deck (don't worry it's enclosed) very private but gives the elision your out in the open. It gets cold at night but the bed has heated blankets any a large space heater which we didn't need but was nice that they address the weather issue of sleeping in a tent like bungalow. Decor is awesome, each too is unique. You must take into account that this place is run by anima trainers not hospitality experts,that being said they do an amazing job making it work. I hope they don't expand too much because the eight bungalows really makes you feel like you have lots of space. If I had to say something negative it would be that the showers and hot water is limited, do to the small water heater so no long showers and that effects the outdoor tub which needs lots of water to fill it up. And secondly the breakfast is a continental style no hot food. The Zoo Small zoo with a variety of exotic animals. They are in small enclosures but most of them get to leave there enclosures regularly with the exception of the tigers ,lions and hyena. I mentioned earlier that your stay comes with a tour at 1pm, on the tour they stop at different enclosures and talk briefly about the animal and answer question, depending on your guide you will get different insight to the different animals. It was an average tour, a little had to see them in small cages but the staff really takes excellent care of the and you can tell they have a passion for there job. Check this place out it's well worth your time and money read more

Booked an overnight stay here with a Groupon. Being a long-time Groupon user, i know that sometimes we get cut rate service with the discount, but not here. This truly exceeded our expectations! We took the zoo tour on the day that we arrived- it was great learning a little of the history of each animal and questions were encouraged. It is also nice to see that all the small concrete pens are getting changed out little by little to a much more natural habitat. We headed to our cabin/tent afterwards. The pictures online did not do it justice. They were spotless, well kept and well stocked. They even had a hair dryer and bath robes! We went out for an early (we DO NOT recommend Mo's River Road- food was horribly over priced and improperly cooked- drive into town- it's worth it) and headed back to just sit on our porch and enjoy the beautiful sunset and breath-taking views. Does it get cold at night?YES! but they give you ample warning so we packed sweats. However, the heated mattress and space heater provided us more than enough warmth. It was great listening to the lions roar at night. When the elephants came around the next morning it was noting short of awesome! where else can you experience that? The breakfast was plentiful and provided more than enough snacks for the car ride the next day as well. there are juices, water and coffee as well. We had a great time and will go back for sure. We would love to see the zoo when it's all completed :) read more

ABSOLUTELY AN AMAZING PLACE! We found out about this place only through Groupon and drove from Reno for 1 night to visit. What an amazing place and concept, We didn't want to leave. It was a little difficult to find because map quest had us turn before we saw the gate. Don't expect to get someone on the phone cause they are very busy there and when you visit you'll understand why. We were nice and toasty between the heated blanket and the space heater. We took an extra blanket and used it to sit out on the deck at night. Crunch time and putting the elephants to bed are a MUST! It was incredible to see the big cats so alert and aggressive at meal time. Then we got to spend time and feed the elephants. We also did the meet and greet after the 1pm tour which I highly recommend. We stayed in the Cat House which is closest to the animal compound. We heard the Lion all night, it was so cool! From the deck you can watch the tigers pacing, we saw the elephants being bathed in the morning and of course having breakfast via elephant was awesome! A MUST DO WITH OR WITHOUT KIDS! read more

I have to say this was a very unique trip. It is beautiful in this part of California. I stayed here for one night. Restaurants and business are only 10-15 min away so the fact that they're not right next door adds to the illusion that this B&B is a lot more secluded than it is. I was here for a one night stay. We weren't super close to the animals at night and we could slightly hear the lions roaring throughout the night. It does get a bit chilly at night but they have heated blankets and heaters. For breakfast, a trainer walks an elephant from hut bungalow to bungalow with a cart of packages of food. Once the elephant gets to your bungalow, they give you food to feed the elephant. It's actually very neat! The food that you get is quite sufficient! The next morning, my friend and I had gone to the "zoo" that is on the premises. That's the only sad part. There is an open sanctuary by the bungalows but the "zoo" houses a bit of the larger "less docile" animals like larger cats and monkeys. The cages are really small and the guide said that not all of the animals are rescues like I had assumed. read more

Incredibly disappointed in their customer service. I was planning on going there Wednesday with a friend and was very much looking forward to it as I wanted to check it out to reserve a bunch of places this summer for a family getaway for my sons bday. Due to COVID crises, I am unable to travel as I have a mother with poor health that care for and I have my kids home and quarantined due to school closures. We are also not close and have to travel far. I called them asking to reschedule and to talk to a manager and was hung up on. I called back and told her I was recording the call for my records and asked for her name. She said Haley. I asked if we could postpone our trip due to the worldwide health crisis going on and she hung up on me again. The first time, I thought it was a mistake. The second, it was clearly on purpose which was I was recording the call and let her know like I am legally required to do at the beginning of a call. I cannot believe they just hang up. I wasn't asking for money back, just to reschedule to when I can safely travel without having to worry about exposing my family to Covid. So now they're just hanging up on us I guess I will lose out on the few hundred dollars from my booking on this trip but they are losing out on much more from the trip we were planning on this summer. I'm so disappointed as it looks like an amazing place. I'm hoping by writing this review that maybe a manager will reach out and do the right thing so we can correct this and make it fair for everyone. But just hanging up on someone is extremely poor business. read more

Wow that was by far the best groupon ive ever bought. Suprised my girlfriend with this for her birthday and all i can say is it was amazing. We checked in around 2:30pm and was staying in the big cat house which by the way we found out was the best possible bungalow to stay in due to the fact we had the closest view to the elephant enclousure and we could see the tigers inside the zoo. After check in the staff who were all very nice and very quick gave us our key to the bunglow and a gate code so we could come and go as we please. We went straight to our bungalow and found it to be probably the coolest room i have ever stayed in. The room was huge, clean, had full shower, mini fridge, coffee maker, sitting area, tv and a king size bed. There was no air conditioner howevr it was not needed due to the close proximity to the ocean. The room came with a space heater and double heated blankets on the bed which we later used. As we checked in we sat on the patio, had a few beers and watched the elephants and zebras roam around. Right at 3:30 the side zoo gate opened and a zoo trainer came by with a monkey nasmed Forest. She gave us some information on Forest and the zoo tours and then moved on to the rest of the bunglaows with Forest. About 30 mins later another Zoo keeper came by with a Baboon and gave us more information on that animal .We then opted to take the Crunch time Tour and the Elephants lights out tour. The tour started at 5:00pm and was great. The Zoo was closed down and only the tour group was allowed inside to feed the lion, lynx, tigers and hyena. We all got to push the meat for the cats under the cage and watch them crunch the bones and meat up. This tour is honestly a must! We then went and feed the elephants when they put them in their heated encloure for the nigtht. After both tours we went back to our bungalow and relaxed. That night we sat on the porch and enjoyed a few more beers looked at the sky which was full of starts and listened to the lions, tigers and hyena growling and roaring all night (which was another awesome experience). The next morning around 9:45am we were on the porch of our bunglow and saw an elpehant literally walking toward our bunglow. A zoo trainer and the elephant arrived with a breakfast box for us. We were able to feed the elephant again and then enjoy our breakfast. Breakfast consisted of orange juice, coffee, yogurt, fruit, bagels, cream cheese, crisounts and pasteries. To bed honest brekfast was really good and we had tons of leftovers. We then checked out at 10:45 and began our VIP tour. Well when they said VIP they really ment it. We were the only ones on the tour (due to face the tour was during mid week). Our Tour guide and Zoo keeper Kristy took us around the whole zoo and ezplained everything there is to know about each animal and the zoo. We were then given the chance to Hold and briefly play with Forest the monkey and of course take pictures. After that the zoo keeps removed the Lynx from its cage and we were allowed to take pictures and pet the Lynx (pretty big and mean cat). We then broke for lunch which consisted of sandwiches, chips, drinks and cookies (all of which were really good, and thats saying something casue i dont like sandwiches). We then went to the last part of the tour which was where we got to feed and wash an elephant named Butch. Cool experience, but u may get a little wet and dirty so dont wear any really nice or expensive clothing. only reason i got dirty was cause I literally got "Butch Slapped" with the elephants trunk lol. Overall this was one of the best experiences we have ever done, well worth the money, if you go, spend the money on the VIP tour and crunch time tour its well worth it. We loved our stay at the B&B and felt like we were in Africa! Alex in particular is a Wonder Woman, doing everything and anything, with a smile! The only suggestion I have is a small one. If you need coffee in the morning, be sure to bring your own coffee maker and supplies. All they offer is a small motel-type drip thing and stale coffee bags. Come on, even at the Groupon price, you need to spring for real coffee! Other than that, we had a wonderful time and hope to visit again in the future. read more

Ok. So I'm VERY confused. I've ALWAYS wanted to come here. My friend keeps telling me to come here. There is two entrances(I think?!) gps wanted us to go even further past the last entrance if coming from Moss Landing. So that happened right off the bat. Then is it Monterey Zoo or vision quest? We came about 1:45 pm expecting to be able to pay a fee and wonder around to look at animals. The lady at the lobby said tour guided only. 1 and 3. Because of construction. Google map says hours are 8-5 or 6 then another site said 1-2:30 pm. They said it's because of construction. VERY LIMITED parking so we had to park way on top of a hill only to have to walk way back up to leave. We didn't want to wait a couple hours for a tour to start. They said we could look at a handful of animals that are in front. So I'm not really sure. Lots of confusion about everything. Plus everything I see really is just for the bed and breakfast end online. read more

This place is a good start to a great place. All of the animals seemed to be well taken care and the enclosures are clean. The tiger enclosure was almost done and the tigers were going to be put there in a few weeks. The dogs barking in the on site Kennel that they had was really annoying and really took away from the experience of the tour and animals that were close to the main building. That is one thing I wish I could change about our visit. The tour groups were small and that was very nice. The tour guide was brand new and did a good job considering it was her first tour, speaking by her self. The interaction with the big male elephant at the very end was so amazing. Can't wait to visit again when the rest of the 55 acres is utilized to its full potential of creating a great environment for the animals that are rescued. read more

Great animal tour for kids. This small zoo-like animal rescue facility has an amazing collection of big cats, primates, elephants, etc. You can get much closer than in a conventional zoo and our tour guides were very kind and helpful. Our two small children LOVED it and everyone else on the tour seemed equally pleased. Pay the extra fee to feed the elephants afterward (aka "Meet and Greet"): your kids will really enjoy it. read more

I was super excited to bring my daughter, and I must say, my expectations were met. We arrived a bit early, since we were travelling from San Francisco, around 1200, the front desk helped me process the paperwork to check in, so come 3 o clock the room would be ready to go, my daughter browzed the gift shop, which was reasonably priced. One of the workers gave my daughter a stamp on her hand.. we got out passes to our tour and meet and great. At 1 o clock we started our tour with Alley, she was very informative. After the tour, we got to feed the elephants, which my daughter loved. By the time we were done with the tour, i went directly to the front desk, and they handed me my key (2:30, check in is at 3). Ay 4, we went to the night time crunch, and night feed, my daughter loved feeding the Tigers. We enjoyed dinner after (a 15 minute drive) then went back at night and relaxed and slept. In the morning we drank hot chocolate and coffee (supplied in the room) and waited for the elephants to bring us breakfast. My daughter loved every moment, as much as I did! read more

I was thinking about taking an uber from the airport when I visit but I don't know the layout of the ranch. Are the bungalows far from the check in area?? Would you recommend i rent a car instead?

You don't need a car if you plan to stay on the ranch but I don't know how many Uber's you'll find once on the ranch so you'd have to walk about a mile for food.

We may have been the last couple in the restaurant but he didn't make us feel rushed.

Chicken and other meats have an additional cost, but they are so worth it. The spaghetti I had was chewy, fine, and tasty. I've never had anything like this before in Santa Cruz. Unfortunately that didn't last long as the music swiftly became louder, karaoke-style songs that the bar patrons were happy to (loudly) sing along to. The noise became so overwhelming and didn't let up for the rest of the night. We couldn't hear each other speak or even hear our server. That type of setting is not at all what we envisioned for this caliber of a restaurant, or we would have booked our anniversary dinner elsewhere. Needless to say we wrapped up our meal more quickly than we would have liked and did not want to stay and enjoy dessert as we had planned. The waitress made me feel like she wanted to help and actually did. Our waiter last night said that if I want a salad, I'd have to order salad for the regular salad price. Then, he said they found peppers in the kitchen and could make my margarita spicy. Admittedly, initially, I was shocked the kitchen didn't have any peppers, a Michelin Guide restaurant. This waiter was terrible and acted like he did not want to help. I ordered brocollini instead bc it was cheaper than having to order an additional salad. The waiter apologized and asked if I read the no substitution rule on the menu... Really? The waiter said we have never done substitutions before. This surprised me bc they did for me last November. My toddler is sitting next to me. I don't have the luxury or want to read an entire menu. He said the chef would come out to talk to me. I was find with that in fact wanted that to happen. The chef never came out to talk to us. I will never come back to this restaurant. I'm sad bc I run the Monterey Half every year and this was a treat to myself. But never again. Sad to want to share a nice place to my husband for Father's Day and to have a terrible waiter and experience in what was supposed be magical as every time I've been here before.

Everyone was very friendly and our server gave us really good feedback on the dishes we asked about. Someone was always walking around filling water glasses. We sat in the back patio. It's very spacious with a lot of umbrellas to keep guests in the shade. My husband had the meatloaf sandwich. He said it was ok, but a little dry. I really enjoyed the roasted mushroom and avocado melt, but it was hard to eat. Every time I took a bit, all the other ingredients would spill out. Lol I took out some of the greens to make it more manageable. The calamari was well seasoned and the Rock Fish Ceviche was our favorite. We'll come back to try their dinner service when we're in the area.

The way they served the bok choy was perfect- never change it. It was artsy, buttery and didn't look wilted. He devoured the berry fruit crisp à la mode for dessert ($12) and I had two small bites: It was like granola over compote with ice cream. I didn't complain. The best part was the incredibly flawless service. We could have felt rushed dining since it was towards the end of service. Their 'secret garden' would be beautiful for a private party like a birthday or wedding anniversary, bridal or baby shower.

Our server, Michael, was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. He had the perfect blend of attentiveness without being obtrusive. Perfect for a romantic dinner. We both ordered the Le Domaine six course tasting menu. Every bite was absolutely exquisite and in perfect portions. The presentation was artful. The starter was Prawns Meunière. The prawns were in a lemon butter sauce - amazing. Next was Salade Francaise (butter lettuce perfectly dressed with a mustard tarragon vinaigrette) followed by a bay scallop in a light saffron sauce with a puff pastry. Our first meat was elk in a portabella cognac demi-glaze reduction. It was incredibly tender. Our entree was the rack of lamb. We ordered it medium and it was perfectly prepared. The lamb was plated with a wild rice pilaf and grilled vegetables. We finished with the Gateau Au Chocolat Fondant topped with vanilla bean cream with a side of fresh whip cream. The host convinced us to return to our tables and said he'd personally wait on us. --When my drink finally arrived, the name didn't sound familiar so I asked if it was the one with blueberries in it. Turns out it wasn't! The bartender had called in sick and the substitute (a server, I think) didn't know the recipe so they just brought me some other drink. WTH?!? What if I'd been allergic to something in this other drink?!? I sent it back . --Why did the restaurant not have a set of drink recipes for each cocktail in their menu?!? The bartender calling in sick shouldn't have prevented them from being able to mix a cocktail ordered off the menu! --My salad looked and tasted great, but was drowning in dressing! Better to have served it on the side! --The menu doesn't include any hot vegetable sides. The porcini tortellini dish I ordered tasted great but was pretty overpowering without something on the side. --We never ordered the appetizer we wanted to share because the place was so chilly and the service so pathetic. So, I actually left feeling a bit hungry after just the salad and half an order of the tortellini. In an attempt to be balanced in my review here, my husband loved his wild boar with mashed potatoes and green beans! And the host/waiter brought him a little birthday creme brûlée to share, plus tried hard to get us to accept a totally comp'ed dinner (which we refused). But if my husband wants to go to this place for a future birthday, it'll have to be with a different wife!

It's easy to have great service when the place is so small, but that doesn't mean everyone does. Service was great. I was rather less impressed, though, given how relatively small the menu already was, and how early in the evening we were there, that they were already out of several things, including the only appetizer I had personally been particularly interested in trying, so we just ordered entrees. The booth table we were sitting at also felt a bit cramped - the tables by the window looked a bit nicer. They did bring complimentary bread - but we also all agreed that their complimentary bread was almost, though not quite, inedibly salty. I definitely did appreciate, at least, given that obviously all their wine is going to be expensive, at a place like this, that they did have a fairly substantial selection of local craft beer, including multiple local craft ciders. If I had been more impressed by the food, I would definitely have been super happy about that. Cider is so versatile, and not on nearly enough menus.) Anyway, I tried their braised short rib dish - it was... good. I think that's really the best way to describe it - I enjoyed eating it, but I still have random memories occasionally how great a short rib dish I had several years ago at Vim was, and I really don't even remember exactly what this one was garnished with or anything. I had no complaints, but there wasn't anything about it that would make me specifically want to come back, nor to have that amount of money spent, even if it was my parents', when they could spend it elsewhere. (My mom made similar comments about the fish entree she ordered.) That said, since we didn't order any appetizers, we did have room to share a dessert, their panna cotta with fruit, and we all agreed, the dessert was definitely the highlight. Excellent panna cotta.

Horrible! Vision Quest Bed&Breakfast! Read this!!!! Buyer Beware!!! Avoid these people!!! They stole our money and would not rebook or refund our money! You have to read this wow!!! Group civil litigation anyone??? We purchased through Groupon for our eight year old daughter to enjoy for her birthday but what we had to endure has been totally unbelievable! On the day of our reservation we drove four hours plus with a very excited eight year old girl asking "are we there yet" every few minutes and finally arrived at Vision Quest (hereafter VQ) only to discover that due to a reservation error by Groupon that VQ would not be accommodating us. This was like being in the twilight zone of horrible business hell. Stunned we simply walked out to our car with a small child weeping her eyes out and her momma also with tears streaming down her face. This was very much a disappointment! Little did we know that more disappointment was on the way!!! These staff at VQ (who were very rude for no reason) let us know that we would have to contact Groupon for a refund. After contacting Groupon we were told we had to contact VQ as VQ refused to refund our money! I called VQ expecting some form of ethical business practice but was shocked to find that these people had decided not only to keep our money but also refused to rebook. I asked the staff person a young lady (i didn't see any males working there) if we we're going to have to sue to get our money back and suddenly a man claiming to be the owner (Charlie Sammut) got on the phone and accused me of threatening his staff to which I informed him that the phone call was being recorded. This caused him to stutter and mumble something about reading the fine print??? When I informed this man (Charlie Sammut owner) that we intended to post this on Facebook he hung up on me. I checked this guy owner Charlie Sammut out and he claims to love animals and claims to be a former police officer. This really saddened me as I love animals and am a former police officer. This business is not very reputable and after reading other reviews it is easy to see that this place is not very ethical. Finally: We found ourselves miles from home, out almost $300 so we had to rent a hotel for the night. Here I am sitting in a car miles from home with a child crying her eyes out and a hurt and confused wife; How would you feel??? We ended up visiting the Monterrey Aquarium the next day! It was expensive but they actually provided a service for the money we gave them unlike VQ! Our little girl and her mommy were both devastated by this experience but I guess she might as well learn that there are thieves and crooks out there looking to steal and take advantage of others. In addition to my other review I forgot the most important part-the saddest thing about this "zoo", whish is what it is, it that these animals have been raised and socialized by humans, given lots of love and affection as babies and then abandoned to these tiny cages with no exercise-or very, very little. The saddest animals at the ranch by far were to ones who had obviously been used to a great deal of interaction and affection and now are VERY needy and desparate when the group approaches with the guide. The Hyena, the Black Bear "Brandi", the large rodent-these especially seemed like needy, desparate dogs at the ASPCA who crave and miss the human attention once showered onto them. They rush to the guide at the edge of their cyclone fence and lick her hand and deparately accept her scratches behind the ears for the couple of minutes she is there showing us the animal. The Hyena races playfully around and nudges his ball towards us, hoping we are there to interact and play with him, later on the way back-when he has learned long ago that he will get no attention from the guide or crown, he lays motionless and sad-no sense getting up, he knows from experiece that he has gotten his five minutes of attention. The bear is the same, so deparate for any contct she can get with the guide. My god, it was heartbreaking. So I asked about socialization with the animals, did they (the guides and other employees or volunteers) socialize with the animals daily and she replied lamely (AGAIN) that the little animals get taken down inside to cages at night and brought up in the morning, as if that five minute walk is a big deal. The others "No, not really". She asked us to believe that the older tigers and bears were "just hanging out enjoying their retirement"-yeah, with no constant human ineraction as they are used to and very little exercise, on their concrete slabs with no vegatation or dirt or grass. And we were asked to believ that the youger cats were "just enjoying their childhood", in the same conditions-only with more training, because after all they are working animals and need to make money. Sweet Jesus! We were piously told that bad people try to keep these animals as pets-what is this place but someone who collected more "pets" than they could possible give attention to and then stuck them in a tiny concrete cage to be stared out by people and worked for money.There are real animal sacuaries out there-please research before giving money to a for profit business. read more

So glad that we stopped and we made the 3 p.m. tour. GREAT place that cares about their animals. Cages were very clean and animals were well cared for. Our tour guide was fun and knowledgeable. While some seem to focus on the way too small areas they must not have been listening when they said that the animals EXCEPT bigger bear and the hyena get to come out and roam and take walks. If you know that these animals are indeed rescues (such as Peanut the smaller new black bear who came from Fish and Wildlife after being found rummaging in local trashcans for food and looking for food anywhere) and that they are well cared for I feel they were cleaner than a lot of zoos we have been too. It was a great 2 hours and our guide let us take all the pictures we wanted and allowed the kids in our group to ask all the questions they wanted. Vision Quest Ranch is a slice of Africa! It's a unique and memorable experience. The atmosphere is serene, the surroundings are stunning, and the connection to nature is unparalleled. they aren't a vegan or vegetarian establishment so be weary of how much they really love animals... very disappointing.
