Nice location and easy to find close to home. Staff and optometrist were knowledgable and experienced.

I've been going there for years and my recent visit was not good. Everyone was in a hurry and so was the dr. I've been using for years. At checkout they priced me $500 for lenses and frames we're not mentioned. I requested my prescription and was given one without all information which proved worthless, missing was astigmatism information which is critical for correct glasses. I called to get prior prescription and was met with resistance then was told would email me, never came. A week later I called back and finally got a email where the important information was on this prescription. I bought online for $149 a perfect pair of glasses which are the best I've ever had. I will never go back because of the unscrupulous way they sabotage your prescription if you decide to get your glasses somewhere else. Good buy. read more

Received my second pair of glasses. The first was two years ago. Worked with Cody both times in selecting frames. Honestly, I hate buying glasses and always just want to get the experience over. Cody quickly helped me pick out a pair, adjusted my old, then helped me with the pick up process. The front desk and doctor was also great. All were very professional. Several years at VisonFirst in Middletown and dissatisfied overall. The actual exams are fine and the Dr is nice enough and seemingly very qualified. The issue becomes in contacts refills with the staff. If you're running out and close to the year mark, they will not do anything without a formal exam. Last year, they didn't even offer up a trial pair. It was, "Do without until you can get your child in". They also ordered the two annual sets for just one eye instead of sets for both eyes as prescribed. I physically watched two ppl check the order before it was handed to me, and luckily, my child caught the mistake once we were home. That meant adjusting my schedule to again ride in to pick up the correct order. This year and short of the year mark (as we lost some contacts), it was, "we'll give you a trail pair" which means we have two weeks at most to get a schedules adjusted and due to order lead times. Then asking to speak to the Dr. Was met with just a "No." I had to ask the staff to confirm that they were telling me that they were not going to let me speak to the Dr to get them to advise that I could leave a message. Given being almost summertime and being short of the Year between MANDATORY annual exams, I would have hoped something like the option to buy 3 months worth of contact refills at my own expense and book a time at our leisure around holiday schedules, etc. Instead, they prefer to hold you hostage for an appointment (Even with their limited comparative hours), I assume to gain the revenue from billing the exam. With children and working parents and given the similar level of care from other competitors, it's...disappointing to have no empathy from their staff. Sadly, locally owned doesn't always mean better quality of service. read more

Went hear a few months back to get my glasses and then a few weeks after that to get my daughters glasses. Doctors and helpers are very good and prompt at what they do. They have cutting edge technology as well. Very spacious location with good choices for adults and children. I use to use dr Bizer but this vision first location won me over. Will come here for my vision needs from now on. read more

My family has come here for years. My daughter had an appointment and needed all new lenses and frames. The ladies at the front were amazing! I think between making the appointment changing it, showing up, and checking out we were helped by everyone!!! read more

I had a scheduled appointment at 1000, I arrived 10 min early, had the initial processing, then told to sit till room open to see optometrist. At 1100, I went to desk to ask what was taking so long, and no one new why I was still waiting, and they said they would get me back next, but had no idea on how long, so I left. Then I tried to re-book an appointment on-line with the only time that worked for me. 30 min later received an email with an appointment 1 hour later than the one I booked. I replied saying that time would not work and why did they not check with me before booking an appointment at a time I did not choose. Then the office where I was to have an appointment called me saying the scheduling team called them about my concerns, the person on the call had no idea of what I replied to the scheduling team, and really could not help me nor did she try to get the manager to try to talk to me. In a world where customer service is so important, this company TOTALLY FAILED. Please note; I do not just write comments on poor performance, in fact, I usually write more positive reviews. But this place really needs some help!! read more

I really want to give a 5-star, but.... upon entering the building, I was not very impressed. I called and made the appointment was very moved by the fact that I was able to get scheduled in two days. I already had high hopes. I got there 15 minutes before my appointment. I stood at the desk for five minutes before I was even spoke to. Two people were at a desk and busy doing other tasks. And of course, there were other people working with patients on fittings and such. My personal opinion for an office like this is always have someone to greet patients. I know people get busy but, it is unacceptable. Then, someone that didn't even work the desk ask my name and very rudely told me to go have a seat so I wasn't just standing at the front desk, like I was an annoyance. Then, she couldn't even communicate with the receptionist who was there because as soon as I sat down I had to get back up two minutes later and give my info again. Your first impression is always the most important and man, it left me not happy. The doctor did a phenomenal job. She was the most thorough optician I've ever seen in 15 years. Everything in the back was very sanitized. They made sure you were very comfortable and talked to you about how you were doing, their front people couldn't do that. After my visit, the doctor paired me with someone to help get my glasses picked out. She worked with me the entire time, made me feel at home. As far as the front goes, she was the most professional dressed and polished- wish I remembered her name. The following day I did get a call that my contacts were in. I hate to give the other staff a 2-star but my first impression was not very good after spending 589 dollars somewhere. If I return in the future, I will certainly update my review. read more

The lady who supposed to show me some of their frames was rude... I didn't come to this place for free, I paid for my service, so I didn't appreciate the rudeness. Dr. Hogan was extremely thorough, took his time, and was on time. The ladies at the reception desk were friendly and the lady who helped my daughter pick out frames was patient, even though it took her forever to decide on a frame. I won't go anywhere else! read more

Dr Hogan is excellent. He detected a small problem with my eye and sent me to a specialist. I believe the small problem may have become a big problem, had Dr Hogan not intervened. I trust Vision First with my families eye care. read more

We have had the worst experience with VisionFirst. They added options onto our glasses which added to the price of our glasses without us agreeing to it. They were going to charge us over $900 for 2 eye doctor visits and glasses. I cancelled one pair of glasses since it was not what we were originally quoted and paid in full for the other pair since I really needed them. Recently I received another bill from them for $60 for some unknown charge floating around. When I called them, they said it was for unpaid insurance that i don't even have and told them I do not have. Really Sneaky people....I will never use them again. read more
