I stopped by for glasses after not going there for a few years. They asked if I wanted to take a picture with the exam without telling me there was an extra charge, so they put it on my bill. Last time one pair was good one pair was bad. Very poor quality, and service in what they sell, that's how they keep their cost down. I dont plan on on ever going there! I couldn't wait to leave there. Update: a week later received called from Visionworks Bolingbrook informing me they broke the frames I suppplied to them. The offered to refund the copay and came up with some low ball figure to compesate my loss, which they're lab caused. Defitnitly find a more proffesional place to have your eyes checked and your glasses made. These people are not responsible or conpetent in their work. One star is too much for them. Now I will have to seek anoother way to recoup my loss. read more

Update: 10/9/2024 Attempted to call the store again. No luck. Call was transferred to customer service. Shequenta, if that is her name, asked if I already knew the order was expected in another 3-5 days, what was the purpose of my call. I told her to look up my order. She had yet a different result. She stated my order was suddenly available for pick up, and she didn't know why I was never contacted. I asked just how long the glasses were at the store, she refused to answer. I asked her to attempt to contact the store herself, to verify they were actually there, and she couldn't get through either. After picking up my glasses at the store, I asked the woman her name. She wouldn't give it to me. I asked if she could at least tell me how long the glasses were there, and how come I never received a call back. All she told me was to have a nice day. WOW! Atrocious customer service. Almost $300 for a single pair of glasses. Cheaper if didn't use insurance. Almost 3 weeks, and still no glasses. Categorized as "pending" after the promised date of Friday, October 4. No response to any enquiries via social media, emails OR via their website. Finally received a response on X. Just to tell me to again email customer service for the fifth time. To-date, still no response. I can now "see the difference". Despite being blind without my glasses. It's that I should've went to a different place for my glasses. "See" your way to another business for your optical needs. You wont find it at visionworks. read more

Really good place! Scheduling was very easy and the optometrist was very nice and patient. Staff was friendly on my first visit and the visit went by pretty fast after the check up. Only thing that was that there wasn't a lot of people to help pick out the frames and order them when I went so I had to wait a bit to finish up the process. There also wasn't a lot of options to pick from when it came to the major brands. I am a huge Oakley and Ray-Ban guy and unfortunately the selection was very scarce and the frames that were there weren't great. I got two pairs; glasses and sunglasses and they both got in pretty quick. read more

I really wanted to like this place. Some of the employees are trying, but the staff is a revolving door. After I got my prescription and the trial contacts, I called in because the prescription wasn't working for me. My prescribing doctor had quit, and the new doctor (who I never got to talk to) advised me to buy readers to wear on top of contacts. When I asked nicely that this wasn't a great solution for me, they said, no, try buying readers on top of the contacts first. The products are overall more expensive than what it's worth, and what they advertise, and the back rooms where you get examined don't seem really well-kept or clean. It was fine, I guess, but am going to end up spending money on a second exam, out of pocket, to get a prescription that works. read more

THIEVES !!! I would think twice before using this location. I sat there and activated my brand new AmEx Gift Card for $250.00. Used it to pay for my glasses and told I was paid in full. I told the employee, no, I owe you $40.00 as my gift card is only for $250.00, and I owe $292.00. She said no, M'am you are PAID IN FULL. I knew it would eventually be caught and I could pay my $40.00. Well, I was called by the store manager claiming a problem with my gift card. I went right in and after much going back and forth with the manager and IN GOOD FAITH, paid again for the same pair of glasses!!! BUT.... Believe it or not another pair of glasses showed up at the store. Ya gotta love it because according to the STORE MANAGER it was a lab mistake. So during this crazy time my glasses needed to be adjusted. My regular place was closed, so I called around and Visionworks was open. I did need to make an appointment ~ okay, no problem. I drove over. The Promenade was deserted so parking was not an issue. When I walked in, I was greeted by a nice young lady who checked my glasses and said she could take care of the problem. Well, it was better, fixed? no, but better. There was no charge even though I was not a regular customer, so that was nice. Would I come here to get my eyes checked? I was a little hesitant about going to this place because the reviews. I scheduled an appointment and was able to get in for a Saturday. I arrived and thought I would be waiting for a while. That wasnt the case, I was helped right away by a young lady named Savannah. She was super friendly. She handled the first phase and then I was asked to browse while waiting for the doctor. Within a minute the eye doc came and called my name. What a fantastic eye doctor she was. She was very kind and informative. When I was finished I was back out with Savannah and she processed everything and I was quickly on my way. I had a great experience with this location and the people who helped me. Staff not helpful. Don't stand behind their glasses. Had my over $800 glasses less than a year. Glasses became so scratched up even though I am careful to only use glasses cleaner clothes to clean them. Went into the Bolingbrook location to see if I could get the lenses replaced or if they could do something about the scratches. Was told they didn't do anything about scratches even though my insurance covers any kind of damage for 12 months. Was told by the staff they would have the manager call me because they weren't in the store when I was there. Never received any call back from anyone and when I posted a bad review Vision Works customer service contacted me for more details. I answered and gave them the full details and never got any reply back from them either! My recommendation is to avoid VisionWorks. I will not recommend this place at all! Poor customer service. My appointment was canceled twice on two different occasions and on the day of my son's appointment the front desk person is not going to help you if you don't have the right card or the right information on hand. I called and spoke to someone and gave all the insurance info but doesn't help to do that because it's not going to be in their system! The Dr.seems to LOVE extended lunch breaks and early days.WHY stay open until 8pm and the Dr. leaves at 5-6??? I have been to this location 3 times as a walk-in and all 3 times there was no Dr.available..1st time I went in around 5:30pm-there were ZERO customers,just 3 employees.The office was supposed to close at 8pm,but they said the Dr.went home early..Huh? Then close the store,stop running up yo light bill dawg! Today I went in at 12:30pm,the employee said the Dr.was on lunch break until 4:30??? WTF? I see why the place is always empty. I asked about coming in on a Saturday. She said "Well,Saturday's are our busiest day!" These people don't like money,or customers I see. Ask for Jalan McGee. He helped me understand how premium progressive lenses give a wider reading area. They used my old frames, so I didn't have to buy another pair and put the lenses in. He was polite and very helpful. To be honest, after reading all the bad reviews I was nervous try this place, but was so impressed by his service. Lens Crafters gave me such problems that I switched and am so glad I did. This young man gave excellent service! read more

Our Insurance just changed and we usually go to Lens crafters but needed to switch. Was a bit hesitant going to Vision works because of the reviews. Pleasantly surprised when with our experience. The Staff was Amazing. Savannah was extremely helpful with questions and fitting my husbands glasses. Sandra was Awesome - so great to talk to, fun, energetic and wants her customers to leave satisfied. The doctor was very informative. My daughter had exam also - but opted to get frames elsewhere - they told us how to maximize our insurance benefits. Great place! read more

My husband scheduled an eye appointment for tonight at 730. Because LIFE HAPPENS we were running late and called at 7:10 to let them know we would be about 10 mins late. The receptionist informed me that that's the doctors cut off time so we would not be able to come in. Mind you I am calling 20 mins ahead to let them know. When I asked if there was anyway the doctor would take us I was placed on hold (totally fine) and then told "The doctor says if your are even a minute later than 7:40 she's not taking you because that's the cut off time. The doctor won't take anymore. We've been booked back to back to back today soooo....." Wow. Ok. So I ask if their current promotion could be honored 3 days from now when we are able to come in. The receptionist responds with "No, that promotion ends today." Well I guess our business doesn't matter than we will just go to Americas Best. Let me just say, I've been in the salon and spa business for 13 years. I too today was booked back to back to back. When my last client today was 10 mins late I didn't turn her away and tell her "I've been booked back to back to back today, so sorry but I'm not taking you, this is my cut off time" UNACCEPTABLE. My family of 4 usually goes to Lenscrafters and we have received excellent service there! My husbands vision insurance changed and now we have to use Visionworks. I haven't tried any other locations but the one in Bolingbrook is TERRIBLE!!!! They have very unprofessional people working there. They don't greet you when you walk in the door. They are very dry when they finally do greet you and perform whatever services you need. There are a bunch of young girls working there that need customer service training! I purchase the insurance plan for my glasses and asked for something written that explains it. Guess what? They said they don't have anything in writing??? In addition they do not have designer frames available only Rayban. If it weren't for the insurance I would go back to LensCrafters!!! read more

They are very good about reminding you that you have an upcoming appointment. When I order contacts they always say 10 day shipment, but call me within the 10 days everytime. read more

Incredibly good service from most of the ladies working here. The girl that got me checked in was super nice and had conversation with me while I was waiting. The doctor was super nice and genuinely seems to care about patients and just wants them to get good and accurate work done. The girl who checked me out was also amazing. My only downside was when I said that I was buying my glasses online one of the ladies working, (wasn't even helping me) asked where I get my glasses from and said that maybe I should go to them for my prescription as well. This made me uncomfortable because I was still paying them full price (no insurance) for my prescription and I couldn't understand why she was upset. Prices were great and the service for the most part was great as well. I was in and out within 30 minutes. Overall, I would definitely recommend this location and would tell my friends and family to check it out. read more

Not many company's accept my vision insurance, surprisingly when I put in my zip code Vision Works came right up.....ding, ding, ding. I broke my glasses late last year and was in desperate need of a new pair, so the location being close and convenient were top priority. I called and got same day appointment, in and out within 45 minutes (only because they had an awesome deal and I couldn't figure out if my second pair would be sunglasses or a back up pair in case the first pair broke). My doctor was very thorough. I had my glasses back before they said I would get them.....four days later. I can't beat that type of service! read more

This was my first visit to Visionworks. I ordered 3 pairs of glasses. I was hesitant since my regular optometrist always had some issue with either the test or the making of the glasses. Here at Visionworks Bolingbrook, my test went perfect 20/20 on the final product. After the test I saw Ms. Laura G. and she spent about an hour with me going over all 3 pairs making sure the bi-focals fell in the right place so I wouln't have to tilt my head back. She was very proffesional, got all 3 pairs perfect! She also set me up with a rebate on one of the brands I purchased. She is a very kind and caring person to work with. it was a very pleasant overall experience I would highly recommend. read more

If I could give zero stars I would!! Worst experience ever and I have been wearing glasses and contacts for over 15 years! Last week I called and made an appointment for today for a contact exam gave them my insurance information. Not one time did they ever notify me that my insurance does not cover the exam or contacts. They waited until AFTER my exam to inform me my insurance does not cover a contact exam or contact lenses. Then when I complain they attempted to pass the buck back to me stating I should be aware of what my insurance covers and what it does not. I went to the same establishment last year for an exam with the same insurance and had no issues! Was well-informed ahead of time what I would be paying out-of-pocket. Not this time!! So I pay for the exam and leave and get called by their manager only to be hung up on midway through explaining my experience. Very poor professionalism! The doctor even argued with me about my contact prescription stating my current prescription was too high (yet things are fuzzy) and she refuses to give me the same prescription even though my prescription has increased since my last visit at the same establishment! Now explain to me how that makes sense so you're telling me you made my prescription too strong last time and now you don't want to increase it even though my eyes have gotten worse?! I can definitely understand why they get such a low rating now on Google. I am patient w/ customer service reps because I am one, but this was just nonsense. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is for doctor & 2nd sales rep who helped me. The 2nd rep was actually nice and informative about what my insurance offered me, but to be honest, I will continue to buy my glasses online. I originally came here only because the exam is covered by my insurance and was going to take my prescription and order online like i have done in the past, but, once told my insurance will cover frames, I didn't see reason to do that anymore- now I do. The first lady who helped me was annoyed, didn't even say hi, just a "sit here" and fired off questions to me. Alright. The doctor was very friendly, once I was done, I was asked to go back out and wait for the next associate, who was nice HOWEVER, a piece of advice to the associates of this store: when you get a personal call on the work phone, don't make it obvious. I used to get the same calls and I worked literally 300ft across from you, but speaking loudly in a small store will get you the "I'm a customer, and you're taking personal calls?!" attitude people will give you. Your wallet will suffer at Pearle Vision, but their customer service is great, whereas here, you literally get what you pay for. read more

My husband has gotten his glasses done here for years. He has been trying to get me to get over here and get my eyes checked. My Dad used to be an Optician and had his friend make some glasses for me at For Eyes. I wore them a couple times and made my eyes nutty so I switched back to my $10 cheapie readers from Walgreens. We went in on Saturday to Visionworks and I had my eyes dilated and checked and hubby just had had his script checked and ordered new glasses. The Doctor seemed very nice but was obviously a bit rushed and overworked. Our sales person Phylicia was just great!! She was such a nice, helpful young girl. Very friendly and kind! You could not help being drawn her her wonderful personality. She advised me that my previous reading glasses were not right for my face and told me if I used my old frames that they could not guarantee them since they did not fit right on my face. Now why couldn't For Eyes tell me that so I didn't blow all the $ for those frames originally and that would explain why my eyes were so batty and had to switch back to my cheapie readers. I will be going back now that my eyes aren't dilated anymore and pick out some decent frames that are right for my face. read more

Came to Visionworks after receiving marketing advertisements for their sale. SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER. I had at one point scheduled an eye exam here and cancelled due to a rude customer service person on the telephone. She was not helpful. Well!!!! Today it was the same thing. The sale is 2 pairs for $59. That's all I know. I brought my mother in too. More business you would think right?!?! Nope. Not a single customer in the building and at least 4 employees sitting twiddling their thumbs on their mobile phones instead of helping. Staring at a computer screen and not one offered to explain the sale. Not one offered any assistance. One asked if we had prescriptions and then pointed to the wall saying that's where the glasses were. Like no crap I'm not blind. I couldn't find anything and my mother got very discouraged trying to find a pair of glasses to purchase. Well they ended up not getting any business from us. We both left feeling completely ignored. I don't care that I didn't get an eye exam there. I was still willing to give them my money!!!! So glad it means nothing to them. And I can't say I'm surprised, I have seen numerous BAD REVIEWS for this place. I'm thankful I went to myeyedr. for my exam. What a DISAPPOINTMENT. Visionworks you need to do something different, get some Disney training in there, put on a smile and assist potential customers. Also all your demo glasses were FILTHY. Most people there are friendly... There is one girl there that knows her stuff, but she is pushy and kind of rude. Long story short, when I have been wearing glasses and contacts for almost 2 decades, don't tell me I "don't understand". Haha, I'm the customer... Even if I was really wrong, I'm still right. I went in two days later and got what I needed from 2 other girls. The girl I prefer not to work with is off on Thursdays. Noted. I'll only continue going because they accept my insurance. read more
