I'm surprised this place has so many negative reviews, but I'd assume something changed from 6 years ago when most were posted to now. I made an appointment for lunchtime on a Friday and was seen immediately. The front desk staff was pleasant and efficient, even saying I look younger than I am, I'll take it! I went back to the exam room and completed the exam, then picked out my glasses with a nice lady (I forget her name). She made sure to help me pick a pair that were most flattering with my features and hair color and also made sure I got the most discounts with my insurance. I was just notified that my glasses are ready 4days ahead of schedule. Very nice experience! read more

The two ladies who waited on us were so unengaged (barely spoke to us) and seemed to be trying ti figure things out as they went...ultimately, we left and went upstairs ti LensCrafters where we had an entirely different and better experience. We ordered one entirely new set of glasses and updated the lenses in the other two with the help of a very polite and knowledgeable young man at LensCrafters - and for a lower price than what Visionworks quoted us for just three sets of new lenses. No more Visionworks. From now on, it's LensCrafters. Customer service matters. Wow, if I believed half of the reviews of this place, I'd be scared off from ever entering their doors. This Visionworks is clean, a pleasant space, with lots of convenient parking. I got an exam and ordered several new glasses. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, professional and experienced. Checking out, the staff person worked hard, heads down, for a good 10 minutes, to understand my insurance and order, and make sure that they were putting everything together to take the most advantage of my insurance, Visionworks specials, and to be certain that I was getting the lowest out of pocket cost possible. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for your vision needs. read more

Lost my glasses!! Into the 4th week after placing an order I stopped at the store in person to ask about my 2nd pair.....my glasses were lost! Supposedly shipped from the lab, but the store did not have them! Had to order another set and will now have to wait at minimum another two weeks. Vision Works has closed most of its nearby labs around the middle Tennessee area so the wait time for glasses is now unacceptable......a valid justification for patronizing another company. Beware....service will not be fast from middle Tennessee Vision Works locations. read more

This place makes you pay extra for full peripheral vision on your glasses. So shady. Even Walmart doesn't try to hinder your vision like that. If you have good peripheral vision, go elsewhere to have full access to be able to see. read more

I would not recommend them at all! Horrible customer service. Clearly designed to rip you off. None of the sales representatives were friendly. You never see their fees and charges, rather they sit there for 15 min on their tablets without saying a word. Once the price comes in and you want to adjust the price, the representative immediately got an attitude and was short with me. The day my glasses arrived, they brought them to me at the door, saying they were closing early. Now I have glasses falling off because they said they couldn't adjust them. Hope they go out of business. I learned my lesson. I'll go to Costco in the future. read more

My two boys and I had an absolutely beautiful experience at this Visionworks location--start to finish! Every staff member, especially the receptionis, Bobby, Sherri, and the doctor were immensely patient and kind with my sons. We all left really happy. "You need to have Rx for a non Rx order". That was the weirdest and most non-sense comment I've ever heard. I was looking to make a non Rx frame and lenses (non-glare. HD lenses). But the manager was very rude. She didn't even stepped out and talked to me. All what she did was that weird comment of I have to have Rx for a non Rx eyeglasses. She would have costed me a useless Dr. Visit. Because her weird comment didn't make sense to me, I decided to drive to a different VisionWorkers location, and they were just so professional and got the job done in less than hour. At the 8113 Moores Ln location, I think its fair to mention that the front desk girl was extremely nice. read more

So, I was initially pleased because they were able to get me in pretty much right away. The woman at the front desk was fine, nothing major. I had to wait around for a bit for the Dr, but nothing that was out of line. Then the exam....he basically just measured my eye to make sure it hadn't drastically changed from my last appointment and called it good. It was literally 5 minutes. I have never had an exam quite like that. If I am paying for an eye exam, I want to make sure it's correct. The Dr. was brusque-borderline rude. I was checking out, and the receptionist asked me how everything was. I told her what happened, and she rolled her eyes and said that he did things the old way, and a lot of people had a problem with it. She then scheduled me with a different doctor there and had me come back in, to get a full exam. I appreciate the fact that they tried to make it right, but why have to do that in the first place? Second...also note that your prescription will NOT last a year. If you come in weeks before your prescription is up, they will not sell you new contacts. They said that it was a grey area since I was so close to my year, and could not sell me contacts. I asked how long their prescriptions actually lasted, is it 11 months? 10? She could not give me a solid answer which bothers me. A prescription should be as good as the length it is good for. It seemed very arbitrary. If you are not going to honor it, don't make that the date it is good through. (Which is funny considering my initial eye exam was basically non existent) So.....beware. I have not had a good experience here, and have found an optometrist near me that is individually owned and not part of a large company like this. read more

I'm giving one star ONLY because the sweet customer service girl was so very helpful. I had my eye exam a week and a half ago...first time here and only because my new insurance doesn't cover my previous provider. I brought the contact package of my old prescription for the optometrist (don't have his name at the moment) to have as a starting point. Naturally, he detected a change in my prescription and said he needed to order a trial pair of contacts. Exam was on Saturday...Wednesday comes...no trial pair...Friday comes...still no trial pair...another Monday passes...nothing. So today I stopped in to check instead of calling. (At this point I've been wearing the same pair of DAILY lenses for a week and a half) It was discovered that this "Dr of Optometry" not only never placed the order for my trial pair, but he NEVER EFFING DOCUMENTED MY NEW PRESCRIPTION!!!! So they have zero idea what I even NEED!!!! I will have to have another eye exam to get sh*t done that SHOULD'VE been done the FIRST time. I. Am. Livid. I'm in healthcare and understand that things happen, but not even documenting what he did (and charging my insurance) is completely unacceptable. And from what I overheard in the office, this is a common issue with him. So Visionworks on Moore's Lane....you know who I'm talking about, and there WILL be a formal complaint made. Keeping this dude around only makes you guys look insanely incompetent. He needs to GO. read more

They went above and beyond for me when a particular frame was not currently on display at their particular store - they went over to the mall location and brought back the frame for me to try on (which I ended up purchasing). DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!!!!! It appears I'm not the only one who has had a less than great experience with a branch of Visionworks. I haven't ventured out to get glasses before but it has come to that in the past few years. My experience began last year in April 2016. I complained about the exam and the glasses now for months. The prescription was wrong. The glasses were incorrect. The technician's remark about my current glasses was. . .inappropriate seeing as how the exam they did was so far off. Literally the technician took my glasses and checked them and remarked "theses are totally wrong". Hmmmm yet I have continued to use my previous glasses due to the fact the glasses Visionworks made for me blurred my vision and made me feel as if my eyes were crossing. I used the Visionworks glasses four times possibly a total of 72 hours. They have been in the case Visionworks provided since April of last year. I have been attempting to contact the store and Visionworks in general for months now. Since October of 2016. Two weeks ago I made a phone call to the company's customer service and spoke with them about this and my wife's glasses as well. A week later I got a call from Visionworks as I was walking into a meeting and I told them I couldn't talk could they please call me back. It has been a week after that call and I haven't heard from them. Sooooo what can be summarized from all of this? I leave that to you but I can tell you it will be anyone but Visionworks for the next pair of glasses. P.S. "Google" Review of Visionworks and see what you get. . .and then make your decision. 5 hours later that same morning. . .I just got off the phone with Visionworks 1-800 Customer Service. The individual I spoke with was able to do nothing. Could not reach the person I had contact with a week ago. The Rep said nothing, did nothing. In the future I will go to the store I had dealt with previously and - N O T - Visionworks. DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU! THE only reason this review has one star is. . .it wouldn't let me post unless I gave it at least one star. So it is now 3/13/17 some four days after the last update. I got a call from the store I had dealt with in Brentwood/Cool Springs, Tennessee. It appears there was incorrect contact information on me. I made an appointment 2 weeks ago. Filled out my paperwork on line, replied 3 times to the automated requests if I was coming. Showed up at 9a.m. for my appointment. Started the check in and the lady stopped at least 4 times to answer the phone. Finally at 9:15 the other woman in the store looked up my insurance and said "oh, you're not eligible until July 1st". Now, being in the "high risk" covid category (age, medical) they had 2 weeks to look up my insurance and tell me I needed to come after the 1st. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Suggested I might be able to find something like them online. I called and scheduled my eye exam, as I was driving to Valuevision and before seeing the 1 star review for this store. The review made me concerned whether I had made a mistake. Fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised! All of the employees that worked with me were friendly and very helpful. The doctor was personable and the man helped me locate the section of frames that I would most like and explained the different lenses. My entire family uses Vision works. We have been customers for 13 years dating back to Dr. Value Vision. They consistently meet and exceed my expectations. I went on a Sunday. Had my exam in a timely manner. Felt extremely rushed in my choosing of frames after I waited close to an hour for a tech. Received my glasses in a timely manner and the script was not right. Had to redo my exam and wait another couple of weeks for my glasses. Still not happy with the prescription. Have gone to the Vision Works in West Nashville and have always been happy with the exam and prescription and they will spend all day with me if I needed to to make a choice in frames. I will never go back to this store and would never recommend this store to anyone. Do not waste your time. read more

Purchasing eyeglasses is one of my least favorite things to do!!! So for someone who despises the process to give five stars, it has got to be really, really good. From the moment I entered the store my experience was pleasant. The frame selection is varied enough to give great choices - from trendy to conservative - but not so vast as to be overwhelming. It went from pleasant to fun when Andre, the store manager, came over to help me. Friendly, warm, professional, and clearly very knowledgeable in his field, Andre was a bright spot in my day. By the end of my visit I felt valued as a customer and an individual. I love the frames I picked, and thanks to the BOGO I didn't have to choose between trendy and conservative but was able to get one of each. I went in for an eye exam and to get new contacts ordered and my experience was awesome from the minute I walked in the door. I was greeted by the manager Nicki as soon as I walked in and the receptionist at the front desk was already prepared with the paperwork that I needed to complete. I did not wait more than just a few minutes and I was back in an exam the room. Dr. Hohn was great, very friendly and professional and made me feel completely comfortable. The staff was very knowledgeable of their products and presented different options to consider with my insurance coverage. Overall a wonderful experience and I will definitely be back. read more

I called to scheduled an appointment for an eye exam. I was put on hold twice just to wait from an extremely rude women to say " when would you like to come in ?" I said today in the afternoon if you have something available. She said 4:30pm. My replay was " I wish you had something earlier." She then rudely said " when would you like to come in?" I hung up and called another office. Those answering the phone and working the front desk are a patient's first impression of your office. It doesn't give me much confidence in your facility when you have rude and unfriendly staff working. Last thing I want to do is go in for my appointment and have to deal with her. Can't imagine how she would be if I was trying to pick out glasses or had a question. Will never step foot or recommend Visionworks to friends/family. read more

Visionworks screwed up prescriptions for both of my children. Following an eye surgery in the spring, we were told my youngest needed to start wearing glasses. His surgeon wrote out the prescription and we had the glasses made at Visionworks. My son immediately said the glasses did nothing and it was like looking through plain glass. His surgeon checked them at his follow up appointment and she said they were not even close to the prescription we gave Visionworks. They made the new pair and all was well. I thought everyone makes mistakes and I'd give them a second chance. It was a bad move. My oldest son went in for an exam in December. They asked him if he wanted contacts. He said yes. They did the vision test, we picked out glasses and they gave him a trial pair of contacts. (We were never told there was a $59 charge for a contact test). We went back one month later as directed to get the new contacts, which they did not have on the store. I thought they would since they gave him the first pair but I was wrong. They gave him a temporary pair that was "close" to his prescription until the new ones came in. I ended up buying a years worth of contacts. We picked them up from the store when they arrived and were given no paperwork or directions. Not long after, my son went to get his drivers permit AND HE FAILED THE VISION TEST. We went back to Visionworks, they checked his eyes again and said his prescription had changed and he needed a new prescription LESS THAN TWO MONTHS LATER. If it was not for his drivers permit test, he would've worn the wrong contacts for an entire year. They gave him another trial pair of contacts that was "close" to his new prescription. We left and I made an appointment at Vanderbilt Eye Institute. If you go to Visionworks for glasses, I'd have them checked somewhere else because they don't seem too interested in getting it right the first time. And if you get contacts, good luck. read more

I tried to ask questions about my new glasses that I paid about $600 for and the young lady seemed bothered by my questions. One more thing... yes the staff is very helpful until they get your money but the product itself is inferior. My husband and I went there one year almost to the day to get his two pair of glasses repaired after BOTH of the frames broke! I thought hmmm planned obsolescence? Anyway, the thing that bothers me the most was I went to two different Visionworks. The one in the mall AND in Brentwood. The staff at both places in short stated "We cannot help you in the repair of your glasses." So the consensus is the public is buying an inferior product and they want you to buy another inferior product a year later! So, I guess if you buy glasses here expect them to last about one year. From now on, I think I'll go to LensCrafters or Walmart and I suggest you do the same!!!!! read more

This was my first time getting contacts and have had the most awful experience. I came in about two/three months ago to get fit for contacts. The doctor let me try some but immediately i knew that i needed a stronger prescription. However, after telling him that they weren't strong enough he told me to wait a week to see if they seemed better. They did not. After a week i came back into the store and tried three new contacts and found the brand that i liked. They told me that they would order the correct prescription in the brand that i preferred. I then had to go on to wait a month for the trials to arrive. (They were only supposed to take a week)I have called and gone into the store numerous times, but again with no luck. One evening i went in one last time for my trials and it turned out that they had them but had misplaced them. I was outraged but at least i had trials that i could see with. I have since tried to order the yearly prescription of contacts that work best for me, but of course the ten days has stretched and I'm still without contacts. One lady was kind enough to offer me another set of trials to wear until my prescription arrives, which is the only positive thing that has occurred with this company. I do not recommend going to this eye doctor, even though the workers are friendly it comes off very unprofessional. read more

Walked in to update the lenses on my sunglasses. I was told to take a seat and someone would come help me. Left after 30 minutes of waiting and getting no help. Was even asked if I was being helped and someone would be right with me. Every other customer in the shop had left and the staff was standing behind the counter chatting. I purchased a pair of glasses here. After a few weeks the lens started to crack in the corners. I came back to the store and they told me the lenses were not cut properly and replaced the lenses. A few weeks later the started to crack again. I went back to the store and I was told that it might be because I chose transition lenses with the type of frame. If it happened again that I might need to choose different frames and that maybe they were causing the cracking issue. I wore them and immediately they started to give a headache. I went back to the store assuming the wrong prescription was used. The receptionist told me the prescription was correct and there was nothing they could do. I refused to take that for an answer so I went to the glasses technician. A sales associate politely asked if they could help, bent and adjusted the frames and it worked. No more headaches. But, needless to say the lenses started cracking again. I stopped wearing the glasses and was very frustrated that I had been to the store 7 times over a pair of glasses. I should have immediately contacted the store when I noticed the cracking. I finally contacted them today (months later)and they said that they told me last time I was there that they would not fix the glasses again. I was not told that. If I had known that I would have asked for different frames to avoid having to drop off frames and later pick them up for the fourth time. I have worn glasses for over 20 years. I have never had any of the multiple glasses I have worn in my lifetime crack. I do not recommend buying from this store at all. Total waste of money and 7 trips to the store. read more

After visiting VisionWorks last night, I have to say that it was the cherry on top to the most horrible customer service experience I've ever had in my life. I originally got my glasses in June, and have not had nothing but problems since receiving them. First, the prescription was wrong. They were too strong. When I tried telling them that there was something wrong with my glasses they told me that I just needed to take a few days to get used to them. Now, I've had glasses since the second grade and know that it takes a little bit to get used to a new prescription but when the prescription is so strong that it's causing you headaches and making it to where you're vomiting then something is wrong. They acted like I was such an inconvenience, even though it was them who did something wrong. When I went to pick up the new glasses with the correct prescription, I bought a VisionWorks cleaning kit and have been using it since to clean my glasses. In August, I had an issue with oxidation spots on my lenses. Basically, the clear coat on them started to peel off. So, I went back in to the store and they replaced my lenses again. Now, just two months later I'm having oxidation spots again. Even after doing everything I was told by VisionWorks staff, and using their recommended cleaning kit & microfiber cloth. I met with Tasha and while she was looking at my glasses I was explaining to her my problems that I've had. She told me "Oh, coming here was your first mistake. I would never get my glasses here. I've had nothing but problems at this location. If I ever decide to actually get my own glasses at VisionWorks, I will NOT be coming to this location, I'll be going to the one in the mall." (aka, Elizabeth's location). The fact that she said this, pretty much blew my mind. I'm pretty sure that Tasha was their manager on duty! After Tasha looked at my glasses, and couldn't figure out what the problem was she asked for Marcus to come over and help her. He quickly continued to clean my glasses (which is the only thing Tasha actually did) and then took them into the lab to look at them under his microscope. When he came out of the lab he looked at me and goes "Well, your problem is that you're cleaning these wrong." and I go "How? I'm using your cleaning kit." He goes "Well it's obvious that you're lying and you're not. You're using an ammonia based substance to clean them." I quickly denied that, but after going back and forth a few times I realized that arguing with him was pointless so I started to ask him ways I could prevent the oxidation spots from spreading or a different way to clean the lenses. His response was "Well, you can quit using an ammonia based substance to clean them." Then he proceeds to tell me that another problem with my glasses is that I have the cheapest version of the clear coat on them. Another thing that blew my mind. Not because I thought it was rude, but because I didn't even know that there was more than one option on the clear coat. No one ever explained that to me. If so, I would've got the best one simply because I wouldn't have wanted to have these issues that I've been having. Marcus told me that HE has the tuxedo version of the clear coat on his glasses and uses the CORRECT cleaning kit and never has any issues with them. After asking him a few more questions, He then ended up telling me that it was obvious I was lying because being in his profession he knows the signs of someone cleaning them wrong and my glasses showed him that everything I was telling him was not true. I then asked for their district managers contact number, which he refused to give me. I have never received such horrible customer service and never have had so many problems with glasses. The promotions they run & the "deals" the give you are not worth it. I will never step foot in this store again, and they've lost a paying customer. This place is barely even worth one star. read more
