I would suggest asking people where they go to get their glasses. This place clearly has their priorities messed up. Your needs wants and concerns are not a top priority, it's more about what their schedule is and how to get you out of their hair. The doctors, both of them were nice the first one was very frazzled. I was kind of in the dark about the whole procedure with my contacts and communication was not there. AT ALL. The staff was hit or miss most were kind, and helpful but others acted as if you were a pain in their ass and they were doing you a favor. My insurance paid for a portion of my exam, etc.. I was there for 3.5 hours to get an exam. This issue I was told was their new computer system. No apology! They made a mistake on the dilation, so I had to go back, another two hours wasted. I had to get new lenses and they never gave me my old lenses. I paid $375 for them, they were mine and Amanda (who hung up on me), said the lab did it, was out of their control. I posted on the company site, Twitter and Facebook hoping someone from corporate would contact me. No matter how many times the store was asked to call me, they did not! They are doing nothing to fix their mistake! $375! I would strongly recommend finding another location in Succasunna, there are plenty of them around. The employees at this management are slow in the head. I've been going here for a couple years and each time I have to get my eyes checked, they always have a problem with my insurance! One of the ladies at the front helped me and said they couldn't take it even though i used it before. I wish there was a way to leave a review without leaving any stars. The customer service here is horrible. I saw the other reviews and actually thought it can't be that bad. Nope, those other reviews are spot on. I went here because my insurance would cover this visit. I verified w/the insurance company. I also gave my insurance information to the receptionist who then verified it and called me back to confirm the verification and exactly what my costs would be. I get there for my appointment and suddenly everything is extra. Extra 20 for a more in depth eye exam. An extra 8o for contact lens exam ...But it's ok, I didn't even make it in to see the dr because when she took my insurance card she informed me that this site did not take my insurance. Terrible customer service, went on 3/11/21 for an eye exam (never again) . Was belittled , they made me wait on purpose quote " :can I finish my slurpy first " before attending the customer . After being seen by the doctor, her staff were rude and looked like they did not want to work. Her stuff ordered glasses and I was promised to get a phone call in10-14 days to pick up the order. 6 weeks later I still was not able to speak to anyone, they could not answer to the order. They would put me on hold and hang up.... I had to report fraud to my insurance company to cancel the glasses. Still waiting for refund, till now I am not able to get reading glasses. This was my first time here and ill honestly NEVER go back. I went in injured with Crutches and they were treating myself and my kids so so rude. The Doctor was nice and calm but you do not interact with her too much so all the contact is with her VERY RUDE staff. Wow talk about rude. The only reason I got my glasses here was because I was in a rush and didn't have time to shop around. I should've taken the time. Their buy one get one deal is a scam. They tried charging me $500 for a pair of glasses in the BOGO offer. I ended up just getting 1 pair of glasses which took a long time to come in. They're only open till 230 on Saturdays which is ridiculously inconvenient. I was on my way to pick up my glasses when I realized I wouldn't get there until 235. I called and asked if anyone was going to still be there and the response I got was "the doors close at 2pm" I asked again if someone would still be there, the response I got "once the doors close we don't reopen them to let people in" so I said " uh okay then" and she said "ok" and hung up. Not to mention my eye doctor was a little wacky. She was all over the place moving around a lot and acting very unsure of herself. Having used Visionworks in the past I have had nothing but a very good experience. Not this time. From the first time I contacted them to my actual exam I was made to feel like they do not care. When I called to make the appointment for myself and my wife I was given appointments that were quite far out, I mentioned that there were earlier appointments online, and was told why don't I just make my appointment online. So that's what I did. Went to my appointment and again was not promptly greeted but a "what do you want". We were rushed with paperwork and through the eye exam. The doctor (Cynthia Guenzel) didn't seem to care about anything except not wanting to be there. Prescription stayed the same so I wanted to get another pair of glasses. One one the employees handed me a box and said to find a pair, my insurance company covers X dollar amount and find something. She also clearly did not want to be there and was putting on her coat to walk out the door. I look around and I'm told that since my prescription didn't change I'm not eligible. Ok no problem, however I find it strange that I have never used this coverage before. I tell them ok I'll pay out of pocket. They are clearly annoyed and I tell them never mind I just need a copy of my RX. I'm practically pushed out of the building and I reminded them I need my RX. I eventually get it. Never again will I not only visit this location, the staff at Visionworks have made me feel extremely uncomfortable and frankly I will never again do business with this brand. I strongly suggest everyone heed my warning. Unless you wanted to be treated like a piece of garbage, go elsewhere. Customer care is not a priority here. read more

If I could leave a negative star that still wouldn't be enough of a complaint! This place is HORRIBLE! The nightmare started when I made my appointment. I set it for a Thurs. & had to change it to the following week for personal reasons. The guy (not a gentleman) argued with me that I didn't have an appointment. Turns out he was looking at the wrong person or month & when he found it - not even a normal "cordial" response. He was horrible! I had no choice but to still make an appointment because of my insurance coverage. Before I left for my visit, I called my insurance company to recheck my coverage. Their response to me was "you already had your visit" - what! I explained to them that I reset the time. It turned out that when they made my appointment, they also put their payment claim! If I chose to not go there, it would have been a hassle proving I didn't go there yet. They got paid BEFORE my visit! Very "crooked" business practice! When I got to my appointment, not even a greeting. The place was not busy & they let me wait a good half hour before even talking to me! I felt invisible. I finally go in with the doctor for my exam & she has the wrong person on her computer. She was challenging me as to who I was because the other person had the same 1st name! It didn't matter that she was 25 yrs. younger than me, had a different last name, address - even a different town! They had all my insurance cards & ID! The doc was confused to say the least. Even though I filled out all my documents online, she was totally confused. So she changed everything in the computer & my exam was a few minutes. I told her I was ordering glasses & wanted scripts for glasses as well as contact lenses - it is standard practice to leave with your prescriptions. Now I go to pick out frames for my glasses with NO assistance. The gal that was going to place my order, has the wrong person on her computer! I had to go through the same problem with her too! And they acted pissed off even though I did my part in having everything done weeks in advance for them. Before ordering anything, now they charged me $60 for a contact measurement when everyone else charges $25. It's actually a scam charge anyway because there's no special test but they get away with charging extra for it. She wanted her money 1st before doing any paperwork! (the money was taken out of my account before I got to my car). Well, now I had to go back in the exam room because the doc didn't do the measurement I told her to make sure it was done! What a disaster! Back to the "order my glasses lady" who has a nasty attitude! I have a $100 allotment from my insurance company to use towards either glasses or contact lenses. They only applied $65 & made up some fake reason for only applying $65 when I know my exam is covered 100% by my insurance. I ended up spending a total of $95 that day - I never had to pay this money anywhere else, ever! The doc never wrote out my scripts so I asked them to have them ready when I pick up my glasses in 1 week. Three weeks later I call to see if my glasses are in & scripts ready. Turns out they were there but no one called me. I explained that I was going to stop in on my way to work & to please have them ready... they said "no problem". I walk in to get my glasses & scripts - they say "your things are on the table over there". No one assisted me as I looked for my things while that hung out chatting with each other. My scripts are not there. Long story.... it took 3 months, 10 phone calls, numerous calls from my insurance company to them to receive the wrong prescriptions 3 times! I give up! Upon entering this location was a friendly welcoming atmosphere. The receptionists were very pleasant. My attendant was Alison and she was an excellent representative. She took me through my choices of frames and lens so professionally making it very easy for me to have made my choices and decision of two beautiful glasses of unbelievable price. She was timely in explaining the variety and differences of the various brands and types of frames and lenses. She displayed great marketing and sales skills which helps making my decision and choice easy and visit comfortable. My overall experience will always be remembered and without reservations highly recommended. Though it was freezing cold that day the customer service received brought warmth. I've never had an eye doctor get my prescription wrong. It's been over a month and I'm still waiting to get contacts in my hands. I had to go there a second time to get the right prescription because the first time I couldn't see anything out of my contacts. i was driving home from N.Y.C and had to pull over and let my husband drive because I couldn't read any of the signs .I had to notify customer service so they can get an answer out of these people on to where my contacts are. (Waited another two weeks for my right prescription )I then had to talk to the manager Allison who said she did all that she could for me. first step is calling me back letting me know where my contacts are. Enough is enough....hope to never come back here again. I wish I didn't even have to leave A star. read more

Dr. G gave me the most thorough eye exam I have EVER received. Not only did she listen to all of my concerns, she also explained everything she was doing and the reasons behind it. I will be back for my exam next year! I have to edit my review because of my experience today. Dr. G once again gave an amazing exam and if this review was only about her, I would keep the 5 stars. However, it's not. At my yearly exam today I was recommended to buy glasses and contacts since my prescription had changed. No big deal. They dilate my eyes and send me to try on glasses. First few pairs were fine, but then the dilation kicked in and I couldn't see anything. Long story short I ordered a pair of glasses out of pocket for home, 2 hours later decided I had liked another pair better. Called and asked to change my order, was told I had to come in (no big deal, I understand that they needed the specifics on the pair I choose). Come in and am treated like a second class citizen because I changed my mind. The women I dealt with was very rude and acted like I was wasting her time. (The pair I chose was the exact same price as the ones I decided didn't look great on me). She made me sign a paper sayin I would not be changing my mind and reminded me that I could no longer change my new order once it was placed. I do not appreciate the way I was treated especially since I had just spent over $300 of my own money at this establishment. read more

Selection of eye glasses is ok. The fact that they close at 7pm doesn't fit most people's schedules. Maybe they could consider staying open late one or two nights until 9pm. Receptionist at the desk doesn't think twice about eating while speaking with customers. In general the staff is standoffish and rude. The only thing about this place that was good was the Dr. The staff she has around her is horrible and it is a shame because the receptionist has been there for a long time and is the worst kind of person. She is has a nasty attitude, the way she speaks to people is unacceptable and feels she can do this over and over because there are no repercussions and I know I am not the only one to complain. They have no idea what they are doing they call at the wrong time tell you to pick up stuff that is not in. The wait time is also ridiculous because they do not know how to properly schedule appointments and need training. Most of the staff should be fired and or trained properly. Would give less stars but cant. They Made me wait a whole hour to see the doctor because they took some man complaining who's appointment was after mine first. I finally got in picked some frames in a green color i liked. A week later they get them. I go to school in a different town so i could not pick them up but my parents got them for me. My parents video chat and the frames are all wrong they are blue and not even close to the right frames. I call and the desk lady (Beverly) blames me and keeps telling me if the prescription matches they're mine even after i told her multiple times that the frames are the problem not the prescription i just wanted to know if she gave me someone else order. She wouldnt check and just kept blaming me. I call my parents to tell them to bring them back and then Beverly calls me again and insists i am wrong the frame order matches. Then hangs up when i argue that i know it isn't correct because besides the frames not looking right the color was wrong. She HUNG UP on me. The eye doctor was great. When I called I was given a lower price than on my bill. One of the girls said to me I'm putting in a lens cleaning kit in your bag. I didn't think anything about it until I got home and went over my bill. Was charged $7.99, I never asked or was told there was a charge for it. Called them back and said I was returning the item. They charge you for each lens, plus a coating on the outside, eye exam and $19.99 extra if they have to put drops in your eyes. There are a lot of add ons. Was never told about any specials going on even though there was a sign out front with buy one get one half off. Don't think I would go back , my frames were only $99.00, but my end bill was over $500 read more
