I could have done without the 50 billion text telling me if I don't show up they are going to charge me $25 dollars. Your threats don't scare me! Anyway, the place is packed so it seems popular among the vision impaired. I have two vision insurances and they only accepted one which was lame but my eye exam was free. The optometrist was good and informative about my bad eyes. Once I got to the glasses part it got dicey. The lady told me my insurance that covers glasses was the one they didn't accept, but they could give me a "discount". This would cost me $419 for a pair glasses and that is with me using my old frames. No way, I just took my prescription and left. Most insurance companies have partnerships with online eyeglass stores. You just scan in your prescription and they will send you your glasses. Kind of like Amazon for glasses. I got a pair using my insurance through Warby Parker for only $25. A heck of a lot better than $419.

It's worth your time to check them out if you are in need of new pair of glasses and/or eye exam. Tucked away at their new location in the Dorsey Search area off of Dorsey Hall Road, the office is bright, clean, and staffed with courteous team members, and also, they have a great selection of frames. I had come here to have my son get a eye exam, which was easy and painless, and Dr. Cho was very patient in evaluating my young son. After we finished, we sat down with a staff member and reviewed the options of selecting frames and lenses, and since we brought our frames we had just ordered the lenses which would take a couple days. When we came back, they helped us fit the new glasses to my son to ensure comfort and proper fit, and asked us to wait a short while to adjust the glasses, insert and edge the new lenses to the frames. This being my first experience at Galleria Optical and while waiting for my son's glasses, I thought I should also get a check up myself on the health of my eyes and vision (since it's been a few years since the the last one) asked if I could also schedule an appointment as well. They mentioned since they were ahead of schedule if I'd like to get an eye exam now which worked out perfectly since I'm already there and waiting for my son's glasses. The exam was thorough despite being speedy, and I never felt like I was being rushed in my evaluation. Matter of fact, Dr. Cho double checked to make sure my vision was correct after she looked at my current pair of worn glasses. Really Hats off to Dr. Cho and the friendly staff members. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Mid September, on a Friday evening (after closing time), I received a text requesting a copy of the insurance card and my appointment would be cancelled if I failed to respond in 72 hours. I called Monday to explain I already provided proof of insurance and they told me, "they needed my sencondary insurance", which I provided. My appointment was confirmed again. On the 17th I arrived 1/2 hour early to be told that in fact my appointment was cancelled and it was their fault, but I would need to reschedule and take another day off from work. If I need to wait 4 months and miss two days of work, I can afford to take my business elsewhere.

When I went to replace my progressive (distance) glasses with prism lenses (to correct double vision) and computer glasses without prism, they quoted a price of $6,200, including a charge of $4000 for the prism refraction with lenses made by Zeiss. The next day I discovered that COSCO Optical can provide similar frames and same lenses for only $330 (20 times cheaper) with lenses made by COSCO Optical Lab. I am not aware of any complaints by other customers about the quality of prism lenses made by COSCO. The prices at Medical Eye Center are way out of line.

What impressed me the most was the amount of time she spent with me explaining the results of my exams. This is very important to me. I've had a number of doctors (not just optometrists) over the past several years and after the exams, most spend very little time explaining to me the results. If I hadn't moved to another state I'd still be using Dr Blandina.
