Stay away from this horrible place!!! I went to Visionworks at Cool Springs Mall to return a pair of sunglasses I had ordered. The girl was polite at first - until I asked her to help me with a return. She told me to call my insurance provider but for me to do it outside of the store. She then said she would assist me with my insurance issue later in the day after she finished putting together file boxes. I asked her why wouldn't she do it while I was there and she said she didn't want to and then asked me if I prefer to stand there and watch her type. Able to make an appt that was convenient for me. Front desk person very polite and friendly. Optomotrist couldn't have been more attentive! Spent a lot of time w me, answered all questions, and addressed all concerns. Will recommend Visionworks to others for eye exams, and i will continue to go there. To add, been there several times for eye exams and always had a good experience. Only reason they don't get a five star is because the glasses are expensive. I have been to other Visionworks before and would say that the Cool Springs had a better level of service thanks to Brandon. I had to wait a while to have the eye exam done (even though I had an appointment). While I was waiting Brandon went ahead and set up the glasses I wanted so I wouldn't have to do much after the exam. I have been trying to get answers for over a week now on reordering contacts. Apparently in July the optometrist did not close my child's chart correctly and they are no longer working there. Now a new computer system is in place, and well... my daughter's prescription disappeared. Was told another Dr could transcribe the rx but....No calls back when promised, cannot get through to speak to someone. The one time I got through (last night) the lady hung up on me mid sentence and when I called right back it was switched over to the call service (mind you it was 630pm and store closes at 7p.) I'm over it. I've filed a complaint, but would still appreciate a supervisor return call. The "contact us" number on the website is a joke- refers you right back to the website. read more

Awful Experience: purchased last four pair of glasses there $500+ each time. Broke the arm off my current pair so went in to see if they cud fix; of corse the answer was no. They had the same frames and they told me they wud b $x at 40% off. I said ok, let's buy. They connect me with a kid that appeared 100% to be no more than 16 years old. Kid scans glasses and quoted me a price 15% higher than I was told. I asked why the difference and the kid smirks and snarkily reply's back; " well, you don't have to take them." Wow, kid needs to learn customer service and manners. I bought them anyway, so kid goes in the back to put my lenses in and comes back and hands me new frames w/ my lenses in them and asks if I wanted them adjusted; I asked what kid thought and kid says; "up to you." Wow, great skill there. So I took them and left as kid smirked. Got in car and looked and frame arms still loaded with goo from where the sticker was (never cleaned) and lenses had kids finger prints all over them. Advice: They over charge; have untrained and rude customer service team; skip it; order on line, experience will be better. I'm done; won't go back; not even for exam. read more

Left with a complete exam, and two new frames plus my repaired existing frames, at a surprisingly good price, within the hour.. Literally, I was probably in there 45 minutes tops.. I found frames I was really happy with at a great price, the fellow who helped me was very professional and courteous, and my glasses were at the store a four days before the expected date. Additionally when I picked them up they made sure I was completely happy and made small adjustments to make sure they fit perfectly. Brandon or Rumpelstiltskin as he called himself jokingly, at Visionworks is awesome! On two different occasions, we thought that we would have to buy all new frames for my husband but Brandon was able to fix them and saved us a ton of money! This weekend, I came in with my daughter and told him while he was adjusting my glasses that I have to constantly take my glasses off to read and he fixed them to where it's easier to see with them on. Came to another vision place this am and so far, Visionworks was unable to release the authorization because they couldn't even find it! And regarding that note they left for the world to see that they responded to my review...there was no way for me to contact them! What a joke? Do yourself a favor and bypass this place, there are so many other choices to have your eyes checked! Called at 11.00 to see if this place accepted walk in's, was told it was MUCH BETTER to have an appointment. Made an appointment for 11.45, arrived 3 mins late, but that did not warrant what happened next. An hour went by and I watched customers be seen because their appointments wouldn't "take as long". After my frustration continued to rise, I finally asked "when will we be seen", as the doctor saw yet another person that came in after us, we were told we should be next. It's now 12.57 and I finally just walked out (after NOT being seen by the doctor)! The lady at the front desk was nice enough, I guess...she did explain to me that they were down one projector. I don't work in a doctors office but common sense tells me that at some point regardless of how long our appointment was going to take we should have been the priority just based on how long we waited. God help me if I get I get some kind of bill in the mail for this crap! read more

This was by far the worst experience I have had with purchasing contact lens. The Dr at this location is great and she deserves a better front desk assistant. I came in to order my contacts and after going back and forward with making sure she had everything correct she assured me the order was placed correctly. Two weeks later I received an email that my contacts were in. I stopped by and had to wait because the sign on the door said the open at noon and did not open until 1 pm. Then when she handed me the lens, I noticed it was the clear lens and not the color I ordered. Wow now I have to wait another week or two. This is totally unacceptable and not deserving of my repeat business. I hope I won't have a hard time getting my prescription from then in order to take elsewhere. read more

First time I went to pickup my new frames, they constructed them wrong...said they were going to fix them. Three weeks later (today, Aug 2, 2015) I came to pickup my supposedly new fixed frames...you guessed it! Same exact problem as before. Did I mention that I spent over $700 dollars on these frames (a regular pair and some sunglasses). Needless to say, I'm rather pissed, which is why I'm writing this review. They quoted two price ranges, one for lenses, one range for frames - they failed to mention if the prescription in my eye's weren't the same, the costs of the lenses would be double. That's right, if your eye's aren't exactly the same, you pay double their quote. Gotcha! Next, we were talking 'free offers' (such as their buy one pair, get a second pair free) when I chose to go with the 20/20 plan, the problem, when I got the bill that wasn't a free offer. Gotcha again! When I called ahead of time with questions about when I could pick up my glasses, should I choose to use them, I was told they made them in-house and rarely did it take more than 2-4 hours. Guess what, when I was done paying, they explained I could pick them up in two weeks. Gotcha again! Considering the importance of our vision, and being told the truth before getting a bill, you'll want to keep looking. Keep in mind that I still don't have my glasses, after paying $600 more than a week ago. read more

I'm not the one for negative reviews or complaining usually. I understand life happens. I went in several weeks ago to pick up my son's glasses. Brandon was the sales associate and seemingly was great. But then again, I was spending money at that point and sales were the focus. I ordered a impact resistant lens with no glare coating. Simple order from what I was told. Brandon told me it would be ready around 2:30 (I came in a bit before 11:30) and to come back then. I wasn't in a hurry to have them as my sons prescription didn't change and he was fine in the ones he had in the meantime. I had a brief interaction with Tamara (spelling?) who acted as though I was being an problem because I asked if we could use measurements from when we initially had his exam and saved the information. She insisted that I needed to have my son there and "couldn't order based on old information." I understand that, however, my son and I knew he would likely be in school and needed to go ahead and take the information. I tried explaining that and she wouldn't let me talk, cutting me off no less than four times. I distanced myself from her, started browsing and Brandon came to help instead. When I returned to pick them up, I was about a half hour or so early. I was ok with waiting because of that and I had work emails to answer. I told Brandon I was fine to wait a bit. He however says they should have been done and he needed to talk to the lab guy. I insisted it was fine but he went back to the lab, leaving the door open. He started berating the person in the back, saying that the job had taken too long and I was making a big deal about how "late" they were. I didn't hear the lab persons responses but from what it sounded like, they were confused by a timing issue because Brandon responded a lot with "can't you read the time? I wrote went it should be out!" and slammed the door. He came back out to me and apologized, saying it shouldn't have taken this long and he handled it. In fact, the lab person, I believe his name was Jake or Jim, came out, very apologetic and said if I didn't mind hanging on for a few more minutes, he would expedite the job and have it out to me as quickly as he could. I told him again, that it was not an issue. Even so, he got the glasses out in about fifteen minutes. Looked great from what I know about glasses (I don't wear them) and later on my son said they were great. We've had no issues with the glasses since, after having another location adjust them... as I wouldn't be back after what follows. As I'm gathering my things, keys phone etc, Tamara once again tries to pursue a conversation with me, this time discussing the lab person and his work. She tells me that she's sorry it took so long, they run into this issue with him all the time and that as an office they all are tired of it. I again told her that he wasn't behind at all. I was extremely uncomfortable, as I'm a small business owner and I do not feel discussing employees with customers is appropriate. Clearly she didn't pick up on my discomfort because she then told me that maybe he does good work (she can't really judge that because she isn't in the lab) he should be able to get a basic pair of glasses out within an expected time. I just simply stated I was fine. I guess she wanted someone to commiserate with her because my response made her slam her drawer and snap at me "Whatever. All I know is this whole place is tired of how we have to keep dealing with it. Well, thanks." And she walked over to Brandon, who both started laughing after glancing at me, back to the lab and whispering. If you chose to have employees representing your company that way, that's your right. I also have the right to refuse to not only discontinue my business with THAT location, but with all Visionworks. I went to another place to have my son get those glasses adjusted and they welcomed me. I ended up buying a pair of Costa sun glasses and will likely chose them as our family's eye care from now on. I will definitely not chose your business. I had no voice to express my opinion. I was continually talked over, made to feel uncomfortable and ignored. I was there with two other people who picked up their glasses and actually said they came back quicker than they expected. I don't need to hear about employee tension, disgruntled workers. From my opinion, they were rude and short tempered. The only person who seemed to be any kind of apologetic was the lab person, who in all honesty, didn't have any issues to apologize to me for. I strongly suggest better training or a staff overhaul. Not that one person will make a difference but I can't be the only person who has experienced this judging by your reviews as of late. Good luck and I truly hope that in the future your employees become assets, not liabilities. read more

I have been a customer of Dr. Valuevision (which has changed to Visionworks) in Green Hills for a while. I usually go there for eye exam and contacts. I don't like their frames much because they look cheap to me. I went to LA in the beginning of October and had a chance to make my glasses at the store I used to go to when I lived there. For some reason, this store in LA always have nice frames and better quality lenses. It was and is my preferred store to go for prescription glasses. I had them quickly made just in time before I got back to Nashville. Since I didn't have enough time to wear them on, I didn't notice the frame was kinda loose. I called my optometrist in LA and she suggested me to bring them to an optometry store to have them adjust for me (they usually do it for free). Being a customer at Visionworks, I brought them to this store in Cool Springs Mall since it is close to my workplace. The lady at the store (Diane) helped me adjusted it twice. The first time, she had it very tight. The tight frame hurted my ears a little bit but I thought "It is plastic so it should loosen over time". So I didn't say anything. Next thing I know, it moved the vision line a little bit. When I looked straight at eye level, it was blurry but when I tilted my head a little bit then it became clear again. It's not a big deal but I couldn't tilt my head the whole time...people at work thought I was acting strange. I called my optometrist in LA and asked what's wrong with the glasses and she told me to have it readjust again. I went back to the store and the same lady helped me. She seemed to know what was wrong. Fixed it and spray something on it SO HOT that there were "stress lines" on my glasses. She told me to send them back to LA to have the store over there replace the lenses. She also mentioned that Visionworks won't replace them because I didn't get the glasses from them. I couldn't believe what I was hearing and seeing. I paid alot for the glasses ($400 Gucci glasses) and having them ruined in that minute pissed me off. I called my optometrist again, thinking they gave me bad quality lenses. My optometrist explained that the stress lines were from the HOT spray that Diane sprayed on. She shouldn't sprayed something that hot on the lenses. To be honest, I've never heard or seen anyone spray hot stuff on the lenses till now. I don't know if it was a cheap tactic to make me get the lenses from them or she was just being careless. Whatever it was, I will NEVER EVER coming back to this store again. My optometrist was nice and offered to replace them for me. However, I had to spend money for shipping and insurance to send them back. So here I am right now, glasses-less. Thanks to Visionworks. You are supposed to get glasses pretty quick.. about an hour. so since I lost my glasses and needed some quick.. I took the bait then found out that it's only if you have almost perfect eyesight. mine would be two hours or so.. great! sign me up. then after 2 hours of waiting I learn that since I ordered transitions, that would take 10 days.. fine , I'm already here and spent time looking and waiting. then after 10 days, I go to pick up the glasses and they break them trying to adjust them. THEN I WAIT ANOTHER TWO HOURS!. I was worried that my brand new $521 glasses broke before I got them out of the store so they wrote a one year guarantee. Some time goes by and I notice that I can see my lens out of the left top corner of my eye so I'm thinking maybe that side is thicker but then the lens pop out of the glasses. I'm close to another Visionworks and I take them in and they tell me that the lens was made wrong and is too big for the frame and has been heated and curved wrong. They put the lens in but with a different screw hoping to hold it steady but the lens pop out again!! Now it dawns on me why the other Visionworks employee accidently broke my new glasses in the first place by trying to jamb a ill-made lens in the frame! This is where it gets STUPID! I go back to VIsionworks where I bought the glasses and ask to speak to the manager and the lady at the desk tells me that she is the manager. I start to explain that I need to return my glasses because they're made wrong and she gets mad and starts working the register and won't look at me. She mumbles something about it just being the screw.. and I start to explain but she walks away to a different customer.. then comes back and hands me my refund receipt.. I'm thinking okay.. she's mad at me but maybe she's having a bad day. I didn't say anything more. The next day, I notice that the refund is not processing through my bank and I need more glasses so I call and ask to speak to the manager and I can tell it's her. I explain my dilemma and she says that it will be 4 to 5 days. Not acceptable.. I paid cash and I don't expect to wait for my money that long. You've received your shoddy glasses back which could have ruined my eyesight according to two other eyewear places that I had been to ..and I'll be down there to get my refund in cash! now she's yelling and I'm yelling .. it's hilarious! because I've never yelled at a vendor /contractor in my life but I'm mad that they just don't care about anyone! BOTTOM LINE: if you have passion in your job it shows in your work.. you wouldn't have sold me badly made glasses! if you cared about people, you would have apologized and I would have understood mistakes happen. But you don't care about my eyesight and you don't care about your customers! NEVER TRUST THESE PEOPLE WITH YOUR EYESIGHT! BTW I'm still waiting on my money. :( and I have no glasses. :( My regular eyewear place could have had them in 7 days. Lesson learned! read more

I had a different experience here, although I want to share more about my experience with Dr. Seger in their exam office. As far as our purchase experience goes, although they were very, very busy, the staff was fairly courteous. Perhaps there is a new manager at the store. Now onto the exam: I was a little skeptical at first going to Visionworks because the exams were cheaper than (by the tune of 3x) a privately owned practice. I was sure in for a surprise. Dr. Alisha Seger gave me the best prescription glasses I have ever worn in 27 years. I rarely ever wear glasses quite simply because prescriptions for my right eye (which suffers from astigmatism, amblyopia and strabismus) have always made me *more* uncomfortable. It's not just one but 7 different optometrists throughout my life, half of then vision therapy specialists. All of them either gave me far-sighted lens for my right eye that made my vision blurrier, or gave me no prescription at all - according to them my hyperopia and astigmatism canceled each other out. After seeing all these specialists I resigned to the fact that glasses weren't going to make my vision better. Seeing Dr. Seger was a game changer. Her prescription is incredible, right eye and left, and I'm actually excited to wear them. She listened, took the time to understand exactly what I was seeing and I couldn't be happier with the result. read more

Seems a classic bait and switch scam. While the next door office seems legit the eyeglass people are a big ripoff. The two pair deal rapidly inflates to triple price if you want such luxuries as non-glare (no we prefer our glasses to glare) anti-scratch (another luxury item especially for kids) and should you want frames designed other than the 50,s that too will set you back a arm or leg. Do yourself a favor get the prescription at the office next door and go across the Blvd to the membership store. Even with buying a years membership I saved 200.00 plus for same exact frame with my script and yes the anti-glare and anti-scratch was included. read more

They explained all of the lenses options for my glasses as well as taking time to go through the glasses that would work best with my high prescription. I attempted to have the receptionist fax my prescription over to Warby Parker and she was not only extremely rude and unhelpful, but did not even send the fax after she said she would. On top of that, the office supposedly lost my PD measurement - the receptionist said she would check my file for it and promptly hung up on me.
