I had an appointment today. While I was there I attempted to drop off my son's glasses for repair. They're covered under warranty. The pair of glasses I had, didn't match what was in the system. The woman who assisted me was said to have been the manager. I was so confused and simply expressing I don't understand and I am certain those were the glasses I got from visionworks for my son. I expressed that I was trying my best not to get frustrated and understand how this happened and her response was "oh you're not gonna get frustrated with me..." (I went deaf after that to avoid confrontation). I was instantly agitated and decided to step away because I wasn't rude, and I wasn't loud... I was simply and calmly stating that I'm so confused and frustrated that the warranty I paid for to have my sons glasses repaired, in the event that he broke them, is being denied on the premise the glasses don't match what's in the system. I'm merely seeking alternatives or trying to understand how this happened and this person is taking my (calm) opposition as a challenge to her personally. The level of professionalism displayed was so ugly. I eventually figured out the mix up and while it was on my end, her unprofessional attitude, lack of understanding and customer service oriented approach made me decide to go to find another place for my family to go to altogether. No one is perfect and mistakes happen, but don't get nasty with people who are simply trying to understand how a mix up happened. Even if she couldn't take them, she didn't mention promotions, specials, alternative out of pocket costs, nothing... she was just an a**hole so unexpectedly and unprovoked. I'm a gentle soul and this truly bothered me. Everyone else at the office was great. Especially the new young lady. She turned my experience around. Scheduled an eye exam and when I arrived at the store the lady asked me "did I know this was a virtual visit", I said no. They were already 40 minutes behind schedule and had 2 people ahead of me so I asked how long this would take, at least another hour and fifteen minutes. I said that doesn't work for me. The testing lady said I understand we were told in a meeting not to tell anyone when scheduling because no one would schedule. How deceitful. read more

i scheduled an appointment in Hanover because I had one scheduled in Chambersburg and they cancelled it on me the same day as my appointment. i was able to find an appointment 2 weeks out. i was emailed, texted and called up until the day before my appointment yes i will be there. 18 hours before my appointment they called and cancelled it. i still received texts and emails the morning of my appointment that i still had an appointment. Reaching a human was impossible. Now i am going to lose my vision benefit because there is no appointments until after January. This is unacceptable. read more

After shopping for eyeglasses at 2 other providers, we went to this Visionworks. The staff folks were friendly, professional, and very helpful. There was a large selection of frames, and many that were very affordable. My husband and I found something we liked pretty quickly and ordered them. They never answer the phone. I'vecalled multiple times, and not just in one or two days, this is over several months and even years. I have also been in there and have been ignored. They have very poor customer service, and make me feel like I am a bother, like "there's another person I have to wait on, ugh". They are impatient and rude. I only use them because my eye care insurance is accepted there. It took me months to get an appointment for my 3 grandsons at the Hanover store. They sent me text messages confirming their appointments. We got there and were told there was no doctor on staff so the insurance wouldn't pay if they didn't see a doctor. I asked why didn't you inform me of this ahead of time instead of waiting until we got there. They acted like it was my fault and they don't know what the hell their doing. I'm trying the York store next and if they don't know what the hell they're doing. I'm reporting them to the better business bureau!!! read more

Inept and confused staff. Starting with not being greeted for some time, person who got my name disappeared and never came back to check me in until a different noticed me (this place is appointment only, no walk-in during Covid). After 15 minutes notified me they were an hour behind and couldn't reschedule me (I didn't ask to be rescheduled). I left did some shopping returned in 45 minutes to sit for over thirty minutes without human contact. The doctor advised a staffer that she was going to take a break as she went by me and I left. My college-age daughter was in need of a replacement pair of glasses because hers broke. I understand that her prescription had expired, and we tried to get an appointment to get her seen but they made NO effort to fit her in. She is a student and and drives a care yet we are told there are NO options but to wait for over three weeks for an appointment. They refused to try to accommodate for the emergent situation. Wish I could give -4 stars honestly. It is THE WORST place ever. First of, one of the ladies that was up front and "greeted" my grandmother and I was RUDE... That was my first experience. My second experience, which just happened, I had two appointments for the same day, I got a call a day prior to the appointment and they were BOTH canceled after a month of wait, just because there "wasn't enough staff". This is the best eye care center ever, I never had to wait and the staff are amazing. Special thanks to the manager, and here's why: I had my glasses less than a month and the screw broke off in the hole and was unable to be removed, I called Visionworks and Aaron, the staff member working, said he would talk to the manager and get back to me first thing in the morning. No sooner the store opened, and the manager arrived, he said that since they were less than a month old, the manager would just replace the frames as long as the price stayed the same. In less than 2 hours, I had new frames. Best Place Ever. Highly recommend. read more

First, Dr. Patel was awesome! Unfortunately, the staff helping in the front was rude. I came in on time and both were assisting other patients. Okay, no big deal. I only waited about five minutes. One lady walked me to the front desk to start check in and paperwork. Took about five more minutes. Totally fine. I had to bring my newborn with me and as he started fussing, I asked if there was a place I could breastfeed him. She kindly walked me to an unoccupied room and handed me the rest of my paper work to fill out while I was feeding the baby. AWESOME! So lovely! Fed baby for about 10 min. When I walked back out , she told me I missed my appointment and I would either have to reschedule or wait around and see if something popped up... I was completely confused because she had helped me with the baby and then got quite rude when I came back out. I told her I wasn't late, I finished my paperwork and was ready to go. She said it took 25 min to feed baby...it did not...and the next person wasn't even there for their appointment. Luckily, Doctor Patel gave her the go ahead to send me back anyways to which he kindly stated he supports breastfeeding mothers and they shouldn't have to miss an appointment which they showed up for because they had to feed their baby. my grandson took a pair of glasses he bought there because he needed a screw replaced. They broke the frames and said the glasses were no longer warranteed because they were compromise(whatever that means). I understand if he had broken the glasses but this was their fault. Their best solution was to offer him a 50% discount on glasses they broke. They clearly were at fault and now we have to get a new pair of glasses before he goes off to college. I now have to take them to court to recover the cost of these glasses. That's fine with me. My advice is to be careful when dealing with these people they clearly don't stand behind their work. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I could not have had a WORSE experience!!! I went in and got a contact examination, they didn't have a trial pair to give me so they had to order them for me. I went in for my exam back in the end of August. It took about two to three weeks for BOTH contacts to come in. They were suppose to be daily's. They told me when I got them they were weekly then bi weekly. I went to Sams Club where I found out they were MONTHLY! When I confronted Vision works they admitted that they were in fact monthly. I wore the contacts maybe three days and they were so uncomfortable! The doctor was supposed to get me another trial pair. That was the middle to end of September. It is now October and I still have not received my other trial pair! I informed them I was going on a cruise on November 3 and they told me they would have everything ready and contacts in for my cruise. I have called and gone into the store to no avail. This is awful customer service. I have asked for the general manager to call me back and have not gotten a phone call! read more

I will never return to the Hanover Visonworks again - as a customer who has been receiving their vision care for years here, today was a final straw. To begin with - I had to battle through making an appointment online for the 15th of this month, because no one answers the phone in the store. This appointment was made many weeks ago. Today, I receive a phone call by Julie to let me know that they do not have a doctor in the office but they could do telemed the visit. But my insurance won't cover this and I can pay for it out of pocket. I need new glasses, which means I would like the doctor to personally exam my eyes. Julie says they will have a new doctor shortly - but no assurances to make things better by letting me know that they will work me in as soon as possible. No caring, no compassion - just it really sucks to be you mannerisms. Why didn't they reach out sooner? Why wait until the week of my apoinment? Now I wonder how long will I have to wait before I can get into another eye doctor? Visionworks of Hanover - you suck - everyone there needs training in customer service. I did my annual exam, and the dr changed my contact brand, not my prescription, after I Used up all my previous lenses I tried to wear the new ones and they gave me massive headaches. I called and asked to be changed back, only to be told I needed a new exam.... and that they couldn't fit me in for a month. Terrible. I have more complaints about this place than anywhere I have ever been. First it starts with the doctor, never introduces her self or anything. Okay whatever, little unprofessional. I have squinty eyes, got made fun of a lot for them. I know if annoys eye doctors as I never seem to be able to open my eyes wide enough for them. Most doctors are understanding even try to make a little joke. Not her, she was rude and insulting. seriously I am paying you for this, you don't get to treat me this way. I wear both contacts and glasses, at the time I was wearing mostly glasses as my eyes were bothering me. I assumed allergies, apparently I had a slight eye infection in my left eye. Again she was nasty, as if I purposely gave myself an eye infection. I was told she could not do a contact exam. Fine understandable. When it was all done a was just annoyed at the situation but whatever. As I paid for exam and new glasses I was told the doctor wanted to see me in two weeks. I told them I would not been able to come back. My insurance does cover both contact and glasses exams but they have to be at the same time. I only get one appointment a year. I was informed that it was all being charged this time and would cost nothing to come back. I pushed to make sure that is is defiantly true. The manager even confirmed. I was feeling better, okay so doctor has no bed side manor but place is not too terrible. O was I wrong. So I show up to my appointment and even double check with the receptionist that I was not going to owe anything. she checked with the manager and the manager said everything was taken care of. So I go back for the contact appointment again she is insulting about my eyes and rude. She changed the type of contacts I wear saying these new brand would work better for me. Some times I fall a sleep on the couch after work and sometimes I am wear contacts when I do. Even though you never should, supposedly these new contacts would be more tolerable. I went to leave. Every where else I have ever been they give me a pair of contact so wear, if they work for me I call in a week or two later to order them. They were saying about ordering them that day. Not really thinking I agreed, that was my fault for not questioning. The doctor comes out when I am being wrong out and tells the receptionist to charge me for an exam. I said I was told their would be not charge. The manager steps in and acts like I am trying to steal from them. "why would their not be a charge" Maybe cause half an hour ago you said you already charge my insurance. So I had a $90 charge on top of my contact. Which I still regret buying. So I get home and call their corporate office and explain the situation. They lady was understanding and said she agreed with me. She said she would call the store to get stuff squared a way. I was on hold for about 15 minutes. The customer service rep totally changed her tone. She was now being snappy and rude. The manager told her a completely different story. She said I never even paid for the first visit, and I should be lucky they are not pressing charges for not paying for the glasses I got the first time. I have a receipt and a bank account statement saying I paid. I used my insurance for the contact. After being yelled and cursed at by the rep I was done. I got screwed at lest its all done and I know not to go back. My contacts came in a picked them up and started wearing them. I kept getting eye infection. I started making sure I was super on top of not napping as all with them. I tried different clears and everything. My family doctor who was giving me prescription for eye drops suggested I go back to the eye doctor cause something is clearly wrong. I went to a different eye doctor. It had not been a new year yet so a visit would cost me more out of pocket so I decided to try the Walmart eye doctor on Eisenhower. This guy was amazing. He explained that the brand of contact I had did not breath well and that is why I kept getting infections. I did my research making sure that this was indeed the cause. And it true. She saw I had an eye infection and recommend what is rank in the top 3 least breathable contacts. People prone to eye infections need more breathable lenses. She either is lady is rude and has no idea what she is doing, or she is just true the most vile person I have ever met. read more

horrible co. went for progressive bifocal glasses. on the 1st. exam i had in store, the dr. flew thriough it so fast i was leary. i was correct. the glasses we not right. then i had another exam,different dr. she was very nice & through. said the 1st. script was wrong, and they made a 2nd. pair of glasses. still no good! distance was good,but could not read with bi focal part. my old glasses we much better. after over a month of trying i gave up. i returned the glasses for a refund. they said-no problem. i had paid cash-$348.50 they said corperate would have to mail me a refund,they were not aloud to do it in store.i was not happy. they said 1-2 weeks. 2 weeks, still no check. went into store this morning. he said he would call and find out what happen to the check. said he would call back asap. 7 hours later-no call! just called them again. they said ck.was cut 1-week ago. i said it dosen't take a week to get mail. they are looking into it. not sure what to do next. if you are thinking of going here for glasses or contacts-don't ! turn around & run! read more
