My mom who came here for vacation recently lost her glasses, and we needed to get a new prescription for her. It took us almost 3 hours to get her eyes checked and order glasses, and we were told they can be shipped to our house. Couple of days ago we got the phone call that glasses are ready for pick up at their location... I asked them to ship glasses to the location close to my house (this time shipping them to my house for some reason was not an option anymore), and they shipped them to a store over an hour away from my house... My reading glasses lasted 4 months and an arm broke off. Went back and they offered to replace the frame for %25 off. " why should I repurchase the same defective frames?" A whole new set can be had for 25% off. 2-300$ at risk twice? The lenses did not have glare coating and were not anti scratch. I handed the glasses back to the Mgr and said "you keep them!!" Person casually tells me to do telehealth. If I had wanted that, I would have made that appointment. I foolishly asked if they had read my appointment scheduling to determine my preference. Crickets. I just went to what I thought was my 6pm apt. Apparently they never scheduled me like they said over the phone. There was nothing they could do to help and the woman working the front desk was horrendous. I believe her name was Marlene. She was very cold and not sincere. When I asked to speak to the General Manager she said she wasn't in and didn't know when she would be back at work. I hate being negative but this lady should find another line of work and not deal with people. It was too bad because I enjoyed Vision Works when I lived in Buffalo. I'm happy to say as soon as I left I was able to schedule an apt with America's Best tomorrow evening. Everything happens for a reason. Avoid this store! read more

Worst experience ever from start to finish. Save yourself a really big headache and go somewhere else! Two months post eye exam and STILL NO GLASSES! No call backs....you must hunt down the order YOURSELF. Hung up on multiple times when I call to ask where my glasses could possibly be? I got in and out. Beyond that it was a MAJOR inconvenience. My frames were very expensive, clearly the receptionist was trying to make a sale rather than give better advice. They ran the wrong insurance after we discussed it at least 4 times. I ended up coming bank to this location 4 times because of it and a half dozen calls too. This is about the Visionworks store in Newtown Square, PA. The store's website and the door of the store show that it is open 10 am - 6 pm. Last Saturday I arrived at the store at 4.45 pm. The lights were on but the doors were locked. This morning I called the store and the representative told me that she was not in the store at that time because she was on break. When I complained that the store is advertised as open until 6 pm, that there was no sign on the door that the representative was on break and would be back soon, and that I drove an hour to the store and back, the store representative hung up the phone. This is infuriating. I will never shop at a Visionworks store again. read more

The person who waited on me did not know what he was doing at all, first assumed I was another person who had the same name as me, a HORRIBLE assumption to make. Also, they got my glasses WRONG THREE TIMES, didn't make my glasses correctly, they had to be sent back, and the second pair had to be sent back two times and I still don't have them. It was the same person who waited on me multiple times and really does not know what he is doing at all. I blame him for most of the issues. The general manager there is actually great but is unfortunately overwhelmed. This store needs better staff to support her, and the need to get rid of the person who waited on me as he has no business working in this field. Do not go here. I waited for over an hour before they finally told me they were having technical issues and they "forgot" to let me know even though I was sitting right there patiently waiting. Then they said the doctor would be ready for me shortly but quickly realized they forgot to do my pre-exam so I needed to do that first, which would add more time. At this point I decided to cancel my appointment, as did the person behind me. I took off work for this and still didn't get anything accomplished. Very disappointing! Brought my son in for an eye exam. He needs a new prescription. Sales associate kept trying to have us upgrade to more expensive lens products. Do they work on commission? Following week my daughter and I had our exams. Doctor was very nice, however, did not mention my daughter needed glasses. We were there for awhile since I had my pupils dilated. We could have used that time to search for frames. I was told I need a new prescription and I had cataracts. I was given a referral to an ophthalmologist. I asked the doctor about my migraine aura and he did not know what I meant. Spoke with the ophthalmologist's office and they do not treat cataracts. I asked about my new prescription and was quoted over$600 for my lenses alone. She was trying to up-sell the premium products. If I have Medicaid insurance and am covered for the exam only, can I afford $600 lenses?? Insurance coverage was not explained to my daughter or son regarding the amount glasses or contacts they are eligible to receive. Honestly, I don't think my daughter needs glasses. The sales associates were friendly but only one was knowledgeable and still did not explain insurance coverage. read more

The Vision Works sales clerk said that she could get close to that price I purchased three pair of glasses and paid out of pocket 800.00. My insurance then company paid them another 830.00 . Got an eye exam at this location and about a week later my new glasses. My prescription was wrong and my glasses did not fit correctly. Trying to fix these problems has been a nightmare. Please release my script so I can order contacts from you. Still nothing. I have to speak with the doctor in person and each time I called he was unavailable. The person answering my call who works there cannot tell him I said this, I have to and he cannot call me?!?!?!?! What the heck is this???? No one operates this way!! I have been wearing contacts for 20 years!! I am so annoyed. I should suck it up and got to my regular eye doctor and pay for another contact evaluation maybe quicker and less stressful. Terrible terrible service. New optometrist not willing to assist in putting in contact lenses. Contact lenses were "trial" lens to be tried out. I am partially paralyzed in one hand and cannot put in contacts. Appointment reminders were sent to my father and not to myself and I am 48 years old. When I did arrive for appt, half hour wait and no explanation given. I have good insurance which paid for exam. No excuses for this type of customer service. Will never go there again. read more

I needed to update my glasses as well as get a new prescription. My first time there was a teledoc appointment. I got my new prescription, ordered my glasses, which I feel I overpaid but it is what it is. I was told I would get a text once my glasses came in. I never got the text and had to call three times to check if my glasses were in yet (took almost three weeks, I was quoted two weeks, again it is what it is). Once I got my glasses something felt "off" but I gave them a two-week trial. I ended up stopping back in and was told I would need to see the doctor. The next week I go in, I meet with the doctor who tells me he's not concerned with my new glasses, did not tell me if the prescription was right or wrong, and then goes on to tell me I have nerve damage and glaucoma. (I am 35, and was told a month prior my eyes looked great and the pressure was fine). Needless to say, I left without my glasses, I have no idea if the prescription is right or wrong and now I am out the price of my glasses and appointment copays and now I am trying to find another eye doctor. This place is awful and I will never be going back there. read more

The eye exam was great and picking out the glasses went well too; When I went to pick up the glasses, the associate did not adjust them, barely spoke to me and just pushed the glasses in the case to me and had me sign. The lenses were dirty and they did not come with a cleaning cloth. And the glasses don't fit comfortably. I contacted visionworks to try to obtain a copy of my sons prescription and reorder contacts, well within the year time frame of his last doctor appointment. I was told that they no longer carry his "brand" of contacts and he would require a new fitting, exam and a different type of contact. Which I have to pay for of course..... Basically starting all over from the beginning. SIGH. Shame on me for trying to work within such a terrible system and being too lazy to find a new visionwear supplier. Now I know. I highly recommend staying away from this place if you plan on getting a contact prescription. My husband got his eyes checked and the ladies in the front refused him his prescription. Apparently, he needed a trial pair of contacts before he could get a signed prescription?!? The whole scenario seemed bizarre! Two months later (yesterday) they called to tell me that my husband's trial pair of contacts were in stock. I would give zero or negative stars if I could. Completely subpar and inadequate service from store employee. When I walked it at 7:10 at night, no greeting - just "so you know, the store closes at 8:00." What a negative to start! I was looking to purchase two pairs of glasses - regular and sunglasses. While I was selecting frames, the employee counted cash in drawer, ran a carpet sweeper and wiped down the counter. After I selected glasses - I'm guessing maybe 15 minutes later so well ahead of the closing time - employee seemed completely disinterested in completing sale. I asked about delivery time; she told me 7 to 10 business days, maybe longer. I was willing to pay to expedite - this was not a possibility. I asked her to run the numbers so I could get an idea of price. A lot of "stomping" on the keyboard, and she came up with a price finally. Because of all the keyboarding and her attitude, I felt extremely uncomfortable about completing the order. And, in the meantime, two other sets of customers came in the store...one to look at frames and the other for a pickup. Employee was just this side of curt and nasty with them as well although they did not receive the closing at 8:00 comment. There are other Visionworks stores/options not too far away. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION! It was an awful experience; even though very near to my home, I will not return. I ended up at the Visionworks on Route 202 in North Wilmington, Delaware. Completely different experience...180 degrees different. And the price for the same frames was less - how does that happen?! See my review for that location. read more

My initial experience was pretty great, but things took a turn for the worse when I was having trouble with a rebate for my contacts. The woman who I spoke to (funny, she's mentioned below because it looks like other customers had issues with this woman as well) was very unhelpful and very rude. I should have known when she more so cared about her personal text messages when I was signing up for their contact subscription. She was dismissive to what I was saying when I called about my rebate and actually cut me off to say "well you have a great night" when I was speaking and telling her other customers need to be aware, this is clearly an issue that will come up and customers will not get their $100 rebate they are promised! She was so disrespectful and rude the entire phone call as well. The issue with the rebate is even worse and they basically scammed me into signing up for their "special" contact subscription. She wouldn't even give me any information, provide any additional numbers to contact, offer any help, etc and instead said they just don't deal with it. Fortunately though, Corporate was very understanding and helpful! I highly suggest going else where and not wasting your money and time with this location. So disappointing! Don't go here! read more

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. This place is honestly a joke. Staff didn't know how to work the machines, doctor was playing on his phone and made me wait an HOUR to see him. In the end he didn't even give me the right prescription. Literally went "1 or 2?" "2" "great that's your new prescription!" Everything was still blurry. Then he wouldn't let me get contacts even though I had been wearing them for a year. Reprimanded me because it was 13 months, not 12 months, since my last eye exam. Do you even understand insurance makes you set yearly appointments 366 days after your last one? Ended up telling them I didn't want to have dilation anymore because I was horrified by my experience. Staff spent the entire time taking and joking around instead of helping other customers while I was waiting. I do not trust this place. I will never EVER go here again. If you have any common sense, do NOT go here, go somewhere else. No one could pay me enough to write a good review about this place. read more

Seriously disappointing experience. The doctor I saw was fantastic, super nice and thorough. That's where the pleasant experience ends. Out front the staff was nice, but it was a horrible experience. The woman who tried to put in the order for my glasses took over an hour because she couldn't figure out how to apply my insurance. I have Davis vision, it's not that difficult, but she couldn't get it. At one point she got up in the middle of trying to "help" me to go assist and check out another customer, leaving me to sit there for about 15 minutes. I was supposed to be charged $78, and after an hour she tells me, "I got it to $130, that's the best I can do. So that's what it is." Uh, no. I finally left because I was frustrated I had been there so long and we were clearly getting nowhere. Go back the next day to order my glasses and get a second woman, she was very helpful, orders my glasses, in and out in 10 minutes. Perfect. Confirmed with me that we were supposed to order the distance ones, I say yes, she says okay, got it. Go back 10 days later and my glasses are all wrong. I literally can't see anything. Turns out she ordered my reading prescription, which was not what I wanted and not what she confirmed with me. Had to reorder - says they will put a rush on it, but somehow the rush still takes 8 days instead of 10.. so I guess that's something? I finally have glasses almost 3 weeks and several headaches later. I will definitely be going elsewhere for all of my glasses needs in the future. read more

The store was nice and clean and they have a nice selection of eye glass frames but if you don't plan on purchasing your glasses here, I would go elsewhere for your eye exam. I did not purchase my glasses here and left the store with my prescription. I went somewhere else for glasses had to call back Visionworks because some needed measurements was missing off my script and after they faxed me my script I found some of my measurements were different. read more

DOCTORS ARE HORRIFIC!!! I have been wearing contacts/ glasses for 35 years, never have I had such a terrible experience. I was given the wrong prescription by both doctors, I told them both I could not see with the new contacts samples. They we dumbfounded, this went on since April. Dr's told me I had allergies, dry eyes, I bought prescription eye drops, over the counter eye drops, only wore my glasses, followed all of their instructions. Only to find out I don't have any of these issues, the doctor just were not fitting my contacts correctly and they were writing the wrong script. After realizing the staff at this location is completely incompetent, I went to a real ophthalmologist, who got my prescription right within minutes. PEOPLE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, CALL CORPORATE SHARE YOUR TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE SO THEY CAN CLOSE THIS LOCATION. I have never written a bad review before, but the public needs to be warned!! Do not trust this location, they will ruin your sight. Even getting my file from this place was a chore, front desk is like a revolving door, never able to keep the same staff.
