They don't back their glasses. My stem detached from the glasses and could not be fixed. I would have to purchase new frames. The glasses I purchase, generally can last two years with no problem. I'm never hard on the. These frames were made cheaply and it was just after three months time they broke. I didn't find the manager very professional or able to listen. I didn't feel the eye exam was thorough enough, hence my prescription was not close enough to what I needed. The person helping me but glasses was very nice, but was not very well trained. She went to get someone to write the correct numbers on the prescription for her. Unfortunately, I bought sunglasses and regular. I won't be going back. read more

Yikes. Sharing the facts: I brought my daughter here for a contact lens fitting after being told that they cannot release a prescription until they teach her how to insert and remove contacts. We arrived and no instructions were given other than to watch a video on how to insert and remove them. No guidance was given. No introduction to contact lens handling or safety was given. No one was present to observe her and give feedback on technique. No one was present the entire time my daughter was attempting to insert her lenses. Staff members were sitting up front, not checking in on us. I was coaching her and giving her tips the entire time. I can't imagine someone doing this on their own without any guidance other than a video. Fortunately, I've worn contacts before and was able to help her. However, healthcare professionals should be teaching their patients and giving them instructions assuming they don't know what to do. They cannot be relying on family members or to do the work and teach them. They didn't even explain there were different prescriptions for each eye. They didn't explain the importance of using solution to clean the contact lenses. They didn't even demonstrate how to clean the contacts. My daughter finally got her contacts in. She had to read some letters on the screen with her contacts in. She got about 50% of it correct. The other letters were incorrect. She knows her alphabet so that wasn't the problem. She was not reading all of letters clearly. However, the optometrist said they were her prescription. I'm not n optometrist, but shouldn't she be able to see all the letters clearly with her new prescription? Overall, we experienced poor customer service, unsafe practice, and lack of support for patients. Would not recommend this place to others. read more

I have been going to visionworks for a few years. The young woman there who I'm assuming is the manager was so rude and short with me due to a wrong prescription in system. She does not want to hear anything you have to say. None of the other employees stepped in to try to correct her behavior and the Dr. Just walked away from me just leaving me to deal with angry,condescending employee. I walked out the store shaking my head wondering what the heck just happened? I will never step foot in that place again. wow, this was really really bad. The eye doctor was nice enough, but they sent me contacts to the wrong address, then you can't contact them through their phone number. When finally speaking to someone they shipped them over, but the rebate I was suppose to get apparently is not valid. I called again - got angry trying to get a person on the phone (because you can't) and then told the girl answering how angry I was with the phone system, she said i was 'swearing' at her (I wasnt) and hung up on me. I've been going here for a while now (5+ years) and I'm glad to say I'm gonna keep coming back as long as the service continues to improve. I've had appointments for regular eye care, glasses, and contacts. They should be able to help you find out what you need. If I had a question I just asked and they've done their best to explain to me so I can understand. I've had some days I wait a little longer but it's never been over half an hour. Granted everyone wants to get the fastest service they can get. Just have a little patience, treat everyone with kindness and it'll be a good experience. read more

Everyone there is just great! They have a good selection of eyewear, and they are very helpful in picking out your glasses. It's helpful to know what your insurance will cover before you go in, because it can get expensive if you don't know your limits. I was in and out in under an hour and couldn't be happier! I wish I could give negative stars to this location. The so-called assistant manager is a pompous idiot. She's lazy and extremely condescending. Not to mention blames the insurance for their screw up and makes no effort to research or explain. Just throw it over the fence to the insurance then have the audacity to call herself schooling me on how it works. Funny thing is I'm the executive vendor manager at my company and have direct numbers to my account teams which includes VSP. Goes to show how you never know who you are talking to. The staff is young and the "manager" is ignorant. My negative rating and rant only goes so far, as I have seen others with the same feedback - yet these people are still there crapping on customers. This has been the worst eyewear purchasing experience of my life. One person that works behind the desk is actually very nice and helpful. If you don't get her you're screwed. The DR and person noted above were attentive and professional. -But they sure can not carry the weight of quality customer care on their own shoulders. The others in the office, OMGosh! When my husband got his glasses last year (First pair ever), I was very disappointed at the customer service. The assistant manager worked with my husband. I thought she was very condescending. Because there was one nice gal behind the counter who made a point to connect in a friendly and professional manner is the only reason I put that experience behind me and give this place a try. 10/31/22 was the date of my exam. It was my goal to try multifocal contact lenses for the first time. The DR was great. He listened about the surgeries I had in the past, and about how a few years back a different DR had taken the time to try several manufacturers before I got the right fit. I note this because the DR agreed that Visionworks would order for me from Coopervision. (Biofinity Toric, multifocal) When I picked up the trial pair, they were some off-brand I'd never seen before. They were handed to me with no conversation initiated. I asked if the DR would be taking a look at the fit. The gal looked at me like I was asking something unreasonable. She said they don't do that. I explained that this took me by surprise, especially because I have never worn multifocal. I asked if they didn't fit well, could I make an appointment. She said, "if you need to". Guess what? I scheduled a follow up appointment because they didn't fit right and the prescription seemed to need adjustment. The DR was not happy that the staff ordered a different brand than he requested. Also he did adjust the prescription. ***This was on 11/11/22. As of today, 12/27 I still don't have a trial pair of a correct prescription...One eye is a contact I walked in with in October. The other is a poor fit, and needs the correct prescription. I have tried multiple times to call and check in to see if the trail pairs arrived. -They NEVER answer the phone. -I have to walk in to learn if they are in. (Always hoping the one nice gal will be there.) Today, they are still on back order. read more

Go somewhere else! The Oswego location is so poorly managed. I have never had a good experience at this location, but it was convenient, so I gave it more chances than I should. Our first experience my daughter's glasses were ordered under someone else's prescription. Second experience, my daughter was berated by the doctor for not knowing what brand of contacts she wears (she's 12). The last straw was when my most recent visit. As 2 staff members sat behind the desk doing nothing, I had to wait over 5 minuted for a third to ring me out for my exam. That staff member told me my contacts were on back order and that I should order them immediately because I would not have them until April. Knowing they are cheaper to order online, I went home to place my order. I received my contacts within the week---not the 8 week wait that they were trying to scare me in to. read more

This has to be the worst eye doctor in the state. First, expect to be treated poorly by all front office staff. Your presence is nothing more than an inconvenience to them. You will not be greeted. You will not receive assistance. Second, they will not provide you a copy of your prescription. Remember, federal law requires this, without pre-condition, without requiring you to sign anything. They ignore this law. Third, expect to over pay for you lenses. If you have insurance, they will charge for lenses and upgrades that aren't delivered. Even if you are stuck with Visionworks because of your insurance, find another location. This one is the worst. I had made an appointment for my mother at visionworks and then cancelled it on the same day because they did not except her insurance. My mother started to receive reminder texts and emails reminding her of her upcoming appointment. I call visionworks to correct this but could not get a hold of a human being. The first time I called I was on the hold for 20 minutes before hanging up. The second time I called I was waiting for 15 minutes before hanging up. It was all automated so there is nothing you can do but wait. I even tried the on line chat but service but no one connected to chat! Terrible customer service! read more

Although I did wait about 15 minutes past my appointment time, the eye doctor (whom I believe may have been a substitute, of sorts) gave me a thorough exam and explained things to me very well. Wow, how horrible is this place? I was 7 minutes late for an appointment only to have the receptionist tell me "well you have to reschedule because you are halfway through your appointment". I got off of work early coming from downtown Chicago and no sympathy from the three girls just sitting there chatting away. And there wasn't a single customer in there! The last two times, I had to wait 10-15 minutes there for my appointment but they don't care about you waiting. I told them I'm done with Visionworks and I'm going to go to another eye care place to which they replied "Ok bye". I have to be accommodating but they can't? And I've always had a feeling of unwelcoming there in the last three times I've gone. The girls are always chatting away about things and looked annoyed when they have to talk to customers. Ladies at front desk are awful! Rude, condescending and have no customer service qualities AT ALL! The manager lets them get away with this. I brought up several complaints about "Arab " lady as referred to in other reviews on here. I do have know what her nationality is and it doesn't matter. The manager seemed to get what I was saying about her bad attitude and poor work ethic but I guess not because she's still working there ruder than ever. Someone from corporate should fire this worthless employee. Ladies turn off lights and lock doors before actual closing time because they are lazy. I was walking around looking and trying on frames when a lady came up to me, being very pushy I might add, I had a set of frames on and she says ohhh those look very good on you. to make a long story short, I ended up with glasses I don't like and won't wear. I sent them and email asking for an exchange and they told me no. I just wanna know what do they stand to lose if they do an exchange? They still have my money, I just want different frames. My appointment was at 11:45 am - arrived to complete paperwork (1 sheet) 10 mins early as requested. There were two individuals at the front working, a mother & son looking at glasses and one gentleman ahead of me. At 12:03 I still had not been seen for my appointment. I'm not sure about anyone else but when I make an appointment and arrive early as they request I would expect to be seen within 5-10 minutes at least. After being there almost 30 minutes and still not seen by the doctor, unacceptable, needless to say I walked out and will not go back. read more

The lady that was up front that deals with your insurance and cashes you out was really rude and looked bothered by having to work. The actual doctor that I saw was the best one I have ever dealt with... she answered all of my questions fully and explained things I have never understood. As sad as it is because the actual eye doctors are so nice here.. but let's move on to the issues at this location.. the girl that works in front that answered the phone when I called to make my appointment was rude and couldn't comprehend anything when I was giving my info to book the appointment.. she kept repeating herself like she wasn't paying attention to my info I was giving her so I had to keep repeating myself.. & then when I called a few weeks later to cancel & change my appointment date for an earlier time for another day, the girl who answered that day was rude & did a exaggerated "ughhhhh" sound on the phone like she was irritated to do her job that she is there to do.. I was extremely upset with her attitude & the tone of her voice I told her flat out "listen if you don't like your job and your annoyed with answering the phones to talk to people for appointments maybe you should find a different job and put someone else on the phone that could actually help me & likes their job!!" Her attitude changed real quick and she said "oh well I'm sorry about that." She then said the new appointment time and day & quickly ended the call.. I was so irritated thinking about the way these girls acted toward me, I ended up calling back the next day & canceling my appointment.. it was the same girl who answered & she had her same rude ass attitude & was quick to cancel it & then just hung up.. like I was bothering her calling.. they don't act very caring to do service with people at this location.. I won't be doing service at this location ever again.. this location needs to check on their employees and re-train them on phone etiquette & how not to be rude or ignorant to their customers who are spending their money at their business.. Okay-it's a one star situation now. Not only does my husband STILL not have his new glasses(yes it's been almost two months!) but we drove out there(about 15 mins) to pick them up because they had put in new lenses. Guess what? Even though it had been four days since they called to let us know they were ready, they had actually ORDERED THE WRONG KIND, & didn't have them ready. So not only did they not have his glasses ready, they didn't even CALL to let us know that they didn't, even though they had 4 days. They suggested that he take the glasses as they were, then drive back in 3 or 4 days, drop them off, & pick them up again 3-4 days later. Um, no thanks. Now it's been almost a week & still nothing. I went here last year. The doctor was okay but the staff were not. The heavy-set gal that seemed to maybe be a manager was down right rude. They made me wait for months while trying to fit me for contacts. They never called me to keep me up to date with the progress. It was terrible service. I visited the vision works in Oswego on route 34 today and had a HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE experience. I was not helped when I came in. After being in the store 25 minutes I had to come to front counter and just stand and wait for someone to stop assit me. The young lady was extremely unhelpful. She looked up my insurance and gave me the wrong information. I had to call a different Vison Works and have their employee help her. This all after I was asked my date of birth and my son's dob across the counter for everyone in the store to hear. I was never asked to sit at a station and then when I told her she doing a bad job she proceeded to tell me that she was doing me a favor! Not sure how spending my money in this store and calling a different store to help her find my account was her doing me a favor?? She then went on to say she was the manager. Clearly a lie. Just went 1 hour out of my way to take my glasses back to fix a stem that fell off yesterday. I purchased the glasses back in August, so have only had for 9 months. Was told that the stem snapped off inside the hinge, could not be fixed, I had to buy a new frame, and lucky me I would get a 25% discount off, so only $99. For the same crappy frames that didn't last 9 months. I have worn glasses all my life and have never had this experience with frames, they last for years. And because I'm not that hard on my glasses, I didn't buy the frame insurance, so I'm out of luck. Bad deal, never going back, do not recommend this company to any one. read more

I went to Visionworks because the eye doctor I normally go to couldn't get me in for awhile and I needed contacts ASAP. The eye doctor I saw was nice enough, and the exam itself was to the point...however, the reason why I give this place 1 star is because the girls that work there are rude beyond belief and sooooo sneaky with trying to upsell you. The $99 deal is a joke..there are only a few frames that will work for that price and they forget to mention that if you need the polycarbonate lenses it's pricier. I stopped ordering contacts from here because the girl told me the company who's contacts I purchase stopped selling month supplies and I could only order half a year or a year supply. Weirdly enough when she tried putting the order through with a month supply, it worked! They also were shady about giving me a copy of my prescription so if you do choose to go here, make sure to get a copy from the doctor when you have your exam. As for the being rude, it doesn't matter when you go or who is working, EVERY single girl that works here has such an attitude! It's like you are inconveniencing them by even walking into the store. I cannot imagine treating anyone the way that they treat customers, especially when I am working! A little hint, if you are going here only for the "cheap prices", most local eye doctors will price match..and you won't have to deal with being treated like garbage ;) read more

I had such a great experience at this office. The girl who helped me was so polite and patient with me. She offered to help me find some frames and took an hour out of her time to give me choices. The store became busy and she always made sure to come back to continue the hunt. I extremely appreciated that she was able to give me a explanation of the breakdown for glasses. It's my first time needing a progressive lens. And she explained how it works and what to expect. Overall it was great service. I'm glad I was recommend by a friend. I recently switched insurances due to my job, so I had to leave my normal ophthalmologist and found that VisionWorks on Route 22 was the closest optometry/ eye care center that accepted Davis Vision. For that reason, I made an appointment at VW a few weeks ago. I would like to preface this review by saying that my actual eye doctor at VW, Dr. Mistry, was amazing. She was professional, knowledgeable, and kind. She's the primary reason why I'm not giving this review only 1 star, and if all you care about is the doctor correctly evaluating your eyes, then feel free to ignore the rest of this review. This review is about my overall experience as a customer. My first appointment was about two weeks ago. I walked in, and there were about 6 employees on the floor and only 2 customers. None of the employees acknowledged that I walked in (they were too busy on their cell phones). I walked up to the desk, and one of the receptionists finally saw me and gave me some paperwork to fill out. I understand that being on your cell phone doesn't necessarily mean you're bored or not working, but there was a serious lack of awareness and warmth in the center. Nobody was smiling, and no one seemed to be particularly happy to be working there. A young lady came out of the back and took me through some preliminary eye machine focusings. I wish I remembered her name because she was actually very pleasant, talkative, and nice to be around. After that, I met Dr. Mistry, she further examined my eyes, and we talked about different options for contact lenses, as I needed a new prescription. They had to order me trial lenses, which would arrive in about 2 weeks, then I would try them on for a week to make sure everything was perfect, and then I'd come back for a third appointment to pick up my official year-long supply of contact lenses. I received a call from VW a few days ago, letting me know that my contact lenses came in, and so we agreed that I'd come in this morning at 9:15 AM. I got to VW at 9:10 this morning, and no one else was there. The store was closed, even though it says on the door that they open at 9 AM. At 9:15- when my appointment is supposed to start- there's still no one there. 9:20 goes by. Finally, at 9:25, two employees show up and open the center. No one apologized for being late (although the man at least said "good morning" to me), even though I told them that I had an appointment ten minutes ago. No one seemed to be aware that I had an appointment. No one even called me to say they were running late. Another lack of basic professionalism. One of the two employees who showed up was clearly still half-asleep, and had no idea what to do. She was completely unaware of my appointment, couldn't find my trial lenses, and just gave me the whole year-long supply of contacts (that I was suppose to come back for in a week after testing out a trial pair) and lazily said- and I quote: "You have two different eyes so can you figure out which pack is which?" Now, without context, it's reasonably funny for someone to arbitrarily point out that you have two different eyes. I figured she meant that my right eye needs a toric lens because it has an astigmatism, whereas my left eye doesn't (and therefore just requires a typical spherical lens), so I told this to her and she just told me to open up both packs and take one of each to put into my eyes. After doing so, at around 9:30, Dr. Mistry came in and noticed that I was incorrectly given the year-long supply instead of the trial lenses, which she apologized to me for. She apologized for the confusion, and tried her best to explain that the employee was new. Dr. Mistry also told me that her own hours don't start until 9:30, so she wasn't sure why someone made an appointment with me for 9:15 (since the optometrist obviously needs to inspect your eyes with the new contact lenses before you drive home). Fortunately, the contact lenses seem to be perfect, so not needing to change the prescription means that they won't lose money on an opened year-supply pack. I'll be returning in a week to confirm that my contact lenses are fine, and to pick up the rest of the year-long supply. I just hope that my eyes continue to be open, awake, and aware, even if the VW center and employees aren't. read more
