Pros: the glasses selection, the woman who did my pre eye exam tests and the person at the front desk who helped me get the price down. Cons: why do vision places feel like a used car lot? It feels sneaky the whole time to overcharge you. The MD was pushing to order me $800 contacts and when I pushed back and said no, he got irritated with me and said "we have to select something to give you your lens prescription." It felt super shady. When I went out to pick out my glasses, the MD had made assumptions that I wanted bifocals and all of these extras without asking. The price went from $400 to $150 once I realized what was going on. All of the "sales" going on are 50% off the RETAIL price. Also misleading. Do better, people are getting ripped off right and left these days, isn't it better to be transparent with your patients and walk them through everything? The office staff is SUPER DUPER RUDE!!!! With the exception of one young, dark haired woman who had tattoos I believe. They are even worse over the telephone. I was spoken to as if customer service is not a major part of their existence. The person I spoke with was horribly rude. The optometrist was divine however she changed the size of my contact lenses so now they don't fit. They flop in and out of my eye while blinking, driving - very dangerous. I have gone through my full supply in just one month because after insertion, by the end of the day they no longer stay in my eye. I was scheduling to come back to see the doctor when I vowed never to return. The staff person was so rude!! I asked if I could simply have the size of the prior script and was told like a parent scolding a child " NO. you have to see the doc." While seeking understanding and simply asking the question again to get the answer it was reiterated with even more nastiness in his/her voice. "you have to see the doc and she is not in today" I said I understand that. What I am asking is why? Why can't I have the same size as last year that actually fit? He/she refused to answer my direct question only to pursue scolding. I will NEVER spend money where I am not provided the same level of respect I provide. The tech for the eyes: didn't greet me when I greeted her. Was not helpful in directing me what to do. She was curt, abrupt and very rude for someone who works with the public. They really need to clean house there. The doctor was absolutely divine!! She was informative, friendly, provided insight at every step. She was so kind that the rudeness I experienced from the person who conducted the first tests was overlooked and I gave rave reviews upon my leaving as well as the survey. Things have changed. I didn't have this problem with Lenscrafters before. When I try to contact them through their website, it seems the contact us button is disabled. I recently purchased new eye and sun glasses, cool Nike frames for both, so cool I purchased the exact pairs last year. Gary at this location helped me with an adjustment last year and again this year. two years In a row this site has been very helpful in adjusting my glasses so my eyelashes don't hit the lense smudging the glass, they are Nike expensive frames and they are difficult to adjust. Totally unprofessional!! Came here for an eye exam and was turned away! I chose Visionworks since my insurance lists them as a preferred provider. When making my appointment I made sure to give them my insurance information early, and I asked for the latest appointment for the day so I knew I could make it on time. I busted my butt to get to the location on time - fighting rush hour traffic, leaving work early to get to this location, and even having to Uber my way in - all to be told the eye doctor was not going to be able to see me! What a complete waste of time and money! When I arrived the doctor was still ON SITE but REFUSED to see me! She already had her bag packed and one foot out the door! The lack of professionalism is appalling! It just sucks since readily available appointments are not available and all they offered was to reschedule! Screw that! On May 5th i had an eye exam, which was very good . The doctor was friendly and professional. i ordered two pairs of Glasses. Regular and Sun. The promised date was 5/19/23. the regular glasses were ready by then, but the Sun glasses were not. I needed them for a Florida trip on the 23rd and they were still not ready. You can't call the store directly and no one contacted me to update me on why they failed to deliver on their promised date. It is now, June 14th and I still don't have sunglasses. Customer service told me they were not able to contact the store, so i could cancel my order and be refunded the money they were happy to take from my account as soon as I placed my order. Came here for biannual eye exam and chose this location since it's closest to me. All staff that I encountered during my appointment was amazing. I especially want to give a shout out to Isabella for being super sweet and attentive! She performed my eye exams in person and sent the results to an ophthalmologist who reviewed my results remotely. The doctor was able to pull up my eye pictures onto the screen, explain to me what she saw, and gave me the results. I was able to ask her questions as well. This whole process went very smoothly and better than expected! read more

Received another text saying great look forward to seeing you and asking me to fill out medical history forms which I did. Spent a half hour in the hot sun waiting for a bus that was late. Got to Visionworks a little early for my appointment only to be told I wasn't on the list. I showed them the texts confirming my appointment. Sorry you are not on the list and cannot be seen today. Are you kidding me you text me about this appointment on 8/22, 8/29, and 9/2, and 9/4 and then tell me when I arrive I am not on the list. I am a cancer patient who (1) is juggling quite a few medical appointments and (2) needs to be careful in the sun. I waited about an hour from my appointment time to be seen. They herd you and all the other unfortunate souls who made the mistake of using their vision insurance here into a tiny hallway, where you're commanded to take your contacts out in front of the crowd. This is all during a pandemic. The optometrist is terse, mumbly, and just looking to get you in and out ASAP. He mentioned something about a spot in the imaging and my retina possibly detaching one day...but then he didn't want to answer my questions about this comment and just said not to worry yet. Right. So, I'm in my 30s, and I've had glasses and received regular eye exams since I was 8. No one has EVER acted this unprofessional and callous during an exam before. They also overcharged me according to my VSP insurance plan. I waited for more than 30 minutes on the phone for them to look into this, and I was promised a refund that day for the overcharged amount ($30). That was Dec 3. No refund ever happened. I tried calling them and using their customer service chat on their website, but I couldn't get a human to discuss this with me again. Avoid this place. I'm glad I at least got my prescription printed before I left so I can buy my glasses elsewhere. I looked at the truly disgusting glasses on display, and all of them were so greasy and smudged that I'm guessing they clean them once a year at best. read more

My son got his glasses here a few month ago and got great service. Today I stopped by to get one of the screws replaced that hold the arm. It fell out and got lost. The employee fixed the alignment, replaced the screw, and gave me a new case since I just held the glasses in my hand on the way in. Staff is very friendly and helpful and did all this for free! My family and I have been going to this location for years and always received good service. Recently, staff has changed and so have their attitudes. They treated us fine when there are no issues, but when we questioned some of added on features for our glasses, that's when the staff couldn't handle and service went down hill. For the first time in years, I returned the glasses I ordered since I was not satisfied with their terrible explanation and attitude. They even tried to refund a different (lower) amount than what I paid and I had to dispute that. My insurance covered the glasses up to a certain amount and when I asked if my insurance would be credited back the amount so I could go somewhere else for my glasses they promised that it would. Fast forward a year later, I forgot about checking other places for glasses and then learned from my insurance company that Visionworks never submitted a credit back to my insurance. So I had no glasses and lost my insurance allowance for that year. Even my insurance company said that wasn't right, but too much time had passed where they couldn't do anything. My entire family went to another place for our eye exams yesterday, and after receiving thorough, professional, exceptional service, I now realize how mediocre and lacking Visionwork's eye exams were. At the new place, I was confused by the amount of time spent with testing, they actually dilated all of us (Visionworks never did that), provided suggestions and answered all questions thoroughly. Now I'm glad Visionworks at Columbus Commons treated us so poorly since I would've never discovered real quality service elsewhere. read more

I just checked in and they had me wait over 10 minutes to have my temperature checked then the sales associate checked her watch and asked me what time was my appointment. No I am NOT late. She then asked me what kind of insurance did I have the same question she asked on Monday when she called speaking rude. I have good insurance through my job and my insurance had not changed. The on-site staff was fine but the lab got my lense update order wrong THREE TIMES! And they discarded my original lenses so I don't have them to take to a new place. Staff kept saying they could not call the lab which I find ridiculous, especially since all we needed was for someone to actually read the order. Technology can't deliver customer service. I want to really like this place. The staff does seem like it's trying, but they could use a little organization. I can tell by the chaos in the front of the store that this is actually the case, and it's a shame because the staff seems like they are working on managing the flow of customers, but they are not quite there yet. My eye exam was quick and painless. The doctor was very nice, though I noticed she never introduced herself. Very nice, nonetheless. The checking-in and checking out is really my only issue here. There has to be a more quick and efficient way to streamline the customers. I get the sense that they want to make sure people are being helped and that no one is waiting around, but it looks like multiple people are doing multiple things and inevitably it winds up happening anyway. Example: The same guy answering the cordless reception phone was holding it as he walked me back to the exam area. With about 3 or 4 open sales/service desks up front, you would think that someone who is answering incoming calls could be stationary, right? I don't know. I don't mind this place, and know they are still fairly new in this location. But I Hope that they hit their stride. I see that their management is working to get things in order, so I hope that happens sooner than later. I got the sense that some of their customers were getting disgruntled and impatient as they waited. read more

I was immediately greeted by a young man (I think his name was Craig) who assisted me with my paperwork and walked me back to the doctors office where he did some preliminary tests for the doctor.Dr Kristie Draskovic then saw me and was thorough and really made me feel at ease. I was sent back to the retail side and an Optician by the name of David explained my insurance information and helped me pick out two pairs of great looking glasses. So after spending over 700.00, and having to call myself to see if my glasses were done and a week or so of wearing my new glasses I returned to the center yesterday to say that i could not see out of my progressive glasses. I was asked to sit down and given every excuse not to replace my glasses. I asked to Be remeasured and i was spoken to like i was a dummy. I knew the glasses were made with the prescribed measurements, I was questioning the measurements them selves. So after insisting on being remeasured I was told i had to make another appointment a month away and be remeasured. They told me to go home and see if it got better. After my initial exam I did ask to test my new prescription and i was told that it couldn't be done now that my eyes were dilated. What did I expect to happen when I returned with my glasses I couldn't read out of? I expected them to say "we will do anything possible to fix this problem and retest for free and replace the glasses you can't read out of and that are making you sick to your stomach. I don't have eye insurance-and I can go anywhere. Probably won't be going back here read more

Average at Best. The Optometrist that examined my eyes was extremely professional. The staff unfortunately was not. Between the extraneous conversations and checking the cell phones it did not appear that they were at all interested in anything other than selling you their over priced glasses. The technician ( I guess that's what she was) had me look into a machine that blows a puff of air into your eyes. Well, the young lady did not warn me that this was going to happen. To many people that is a small point but it is a big deal when you get a puff of air blown onto your eyes and you were not expecting it. I wanted my pupillary distance measured. You would have thought that I asked for cataract surgery - apparently this is not something that they do if you are JUST getting an eye exam. read more

Good selection of glasses, however both my husband and I walked out of there with the wrong prescription. My husband ended up having to see an Ophthalmologist/Neurologist who told him that the prescription he got from Visionworks was wrong and we now had to go back and order new lenses and wait for another week for the glasses to be made. My own prescription is too weak and is weaker than the lenses I had from over two years ago. Most of the staff is not very courteous and is too busy complaining about being busy aloud to the customers to actually get any work done. The doctors were friendly and considerate, but as stated above, still gave the wrong prescriptions. I have not purchased frames and lenses in several years, but Visionworks seems a little overpriced. And they really get you with all the upcharging for things like anti-glare and polycarbonate lenses. I know these things cost extra, but I think Visionworks has inflated the prices so they can make more money off the add-ons. I do avoid this place during the weekend at all cost. With Target just around the corner, this place becomes a hot spot for weekend errand running for the entire city and traffic on Del Ave/Columbus Blvd piles up. This is a great Lowes. I have always had excellent customer service experiences here. Garden department on fleek. Yea, I said it. IKEA well, who doesn't enjoy a trip here?! It's nice to have one actually IN Philly. No more trips out to Plymouth Meeting for this chick. But Avoid, avoid, avoid right before back to school as this place is dorm decorating central. The is the only Best Buy in the city and I definitely have frequented here too often. Geek Squad can be helpful, but this location always has a fairly long line for both tech support and checkout, so bring your patience. There's Raymor & Flannigan. Interesting to have such have large furniture store in the city. I have actually shopped here quite a bit. Ask for Dina! Five Below. A bunch of crap my kids beg me for. They do have some fun toys, art supplies, and pool floats that will cost you triple elsewhere. It's not so bad. Good for stocking stuffers and such for kiddos. Most recently we scored beach blankets and a decent rug for the kids for yup, you guessed it, $5! Pier One! Love it here! The holidays are always a blast at Pier One! Every holiday in fact! From serving trays and platters to housewarming gifts, I never leave empty handed. Love their candles! Happy to have this nearby! The section across the way is home to Famous Dave's, Wine & Spirit, Barefoot Shoes and a pet store. We have actually hit up IKEA strictly for their super inexpensive, surprisingly tasty food. They now offer their famous Swedish meatballs in a 100% vegan variety! If that doesn't work for you and you need a quick pick up, there's Wendy's and Chick Fil A right there and of course there's ever popular John's Roast Pork right around the corner. Went here on Saturday with one of my colleagues who also happened to need a renewal on contacts. I made an appointment for both of us at with one at 10:00AM and the other at 10:30. If you've ever been to a LensCrafters then you pretty much know what to expect from this store. However, there are a few things that set Vision Works above any other combined eye doctor/glasses dispensary. 1.) I have astigmatism in both eyes which causes me to pay around $1200 a YEAR for contacts. The very young, very fiscally aware eye doctor I had (Dr. Vu, I think.) noticed the astigmatism in my right here could actually stand not to have torque lenses anymore. This cuts my contact bill by nearly half :) That alone would make me come back time and time again. 2.) The front of house staff that takes care of insurance, glasses fitting, answering phones etc. etc. were the *most helpful* individuals I have experienced in the eye care industry. Seriously. The woman who took care of me tallied up the cost of my glasses a half dozen times so I could get the best deal. AND she fixed my personal pair of glasses that were all kinds of jacked up. That's going above and beyond in my opinion. 3.) The store is very bright and cheery with tons of glasses to choose from. They run some killer deals too so make sure you hit them up. I just had my appointment on Saturday with Dr. Amadio. My appointment wasn't until 10:15 but I got my errands done earlier than expected and figured I'd head over to see if they could take me earlier. I got there around 9:40 and was taken back right away. Dr. Amadio couldn't have been more helpful. He was sweet & understanding you can tell he cares and loves his profession. After my exam I met with the sales associate David, to which he was a huge help. He was extremely personable, and funny. He was very accommodating and knowledgeable & made the experience a great one. Clean, new and friendly staff here. Great selection on frames and cheap prices. I have been here 3 times already. My first time I got the 2 for one deal. Which my daughter got one and I got a pair. The second time, my daughter broke her frames and needed a new pair. So we got one. Great price and frames. Third time, the lens popped-out and we had to bring it back. They didn't charge us for it. I highly recommend this place. Our service person was Misty. She is super friendly and on point with lens selections. And I must add, they offer next day pick-ups. Avoid this place like the plague!!!!!!! I read other reviews and now I realize I was also being scammed like the other reviews! They're running a scamming ring here! They must be stopped. Now for my long review of my 2.5 week horrible experience, worst experience of my life with any retailer: This was my first time at this location after having the most exceptional experiences at both the Cherry Hill and Radnor locations. This location is NOT ONLY a scam but the puzzling part is that the worst service came from Dr. Lindsay Audette and the GENERAL MANAGER GARY CAHALL. The employees in the front were nice although I had minimal interaction with them. Let's start from the beginning. I had an appointment for 5:15PM on a Friday night. As I said before, I've been to 2 other visionworks and this one decided that I was going to pay $50 for my lens fitting instead of my usual $10. Since I knew this was wrong as I've had the same insurance for years I told them to call Davis vision (they are owned by Davis vision) and confirm since I've never had to pay this. Dr. Lindsay Audette (who never introduced herself so I had no clue she was the doctor) gave me so much attitude that I was questioning the price and stopped the exam immediately and brought me back up front (without saying anything) and took the next person back, again, without explanation. Minutes go by and the general manager Gary Cahall came over and proceeded to "mansplain" to me by showing me "what he sees" and why I need to pay $50. This forced me to have to over explain THAT I HAVE NEVER PAID MORE THAN $10 BEFORE. Then I had to ask if he could call my insurance and confirm. Well, Gary Cahall didn't like that and putzed around for a while doing basically nothing and made me wait 30 minutes BEFORE HE EVEN CALLED Davis vision to confirm my insurance and exam copay price. Before he called he made NUMEROUS negative comments (to the doctor) such as "I'm NEVER going to get out of here" and "I can never get ANYTHING done" to which she agreed grunting and rolling her eyes. This made me feel INCREDIBLY awkward and like I was a huge inconvenience. While on the line with Davis vision he proceeded to ask them to hold while he answered other calls (with other workers doing nothing) continuing to make me see how much he didn't want to be calling Davis vision. He then got off the phone and consulted with Dr. Lindsay Audette. Then....... nothing. After minutes neither him nor the Dr. Lindsay Audette acknowledged me at all. I had TO ASK THEM what Davis vision said. Gary Cahall (I believe he didn't want to admit he was wrong) said "I don't know........." and the doctor then rolled her eyes AGAIN and said, "We're just going to give you the exam for $10" as if they were doing ME some sort of favor? You expect me to believe you call my insurance company and they don't give you what they cover? And vision works is owned by this same insurance company???? So, since I was already there over an hour (while contemplating walking out numerous times) I decided to go ahead with the exam. Dr. Lindsay Audette brings me back and mildly apologizes and complains about all the horrible things that happened to her that day which is why it was crazy in there. Definitely not a genuine apology and I considered it worthless as it was all about her. Is this location where you exile your bad doctors and employees???? I got out of there as fast as I could. So... two weeks go by waiting for my sample contacts to come in. I call them and GOOD OLD GARY CAHALL answers the phone. I told him my unique situation of why I was calling in to check if my contacts were in yet (I was having some eye issues and she ordered 2 trial pairs.. one she stated would be in a week one would come in 2-3 weeks) I explained I needed the one that was probably in already. His response is, "So we didn't call YOU to let you know your contacts were in?" I said no you didn't I just explained why. He said okay let me take your name and number and someone will call you back. I've never had anyone not just put me on hold and check while on the phone to look in the drawer but hey, that's GARY CAHALL FOR YA! And guess what??? NO CALL BACK. Thanks, Gary. And now, after all that, the major reason I wished I followed my gut and walked out is that my prescription sucks it's way, way worse off than before. So THANKS Dr. Lindsay Audette, Gary Cahall, and Visionworks. You lost a lifelong customer. Thanks Gary Cahall for giving me the WORST customer service I've ever received and thanks to Dr. Lindsay Audette for being the most rude doctor I've ever dealt with. read more

3 stars for the doctor who saw me and the sales person who calculate the prices for glasses, contacts, and insurance. 1 star for the follow up. There is no follow up. No calls to notify my trial contacts had arrived. When I called, persons on the phone (I called twice) couldn't find my file and gave me someone else's info, and insisted that they had left a message for me to pick up. This process has dragged on for 3 months when I wrote this review, and I still didn't have my contacts. Because of the unsolved contacts situation, I also couldn't get glasses. Doctor was very nice though. Patiently examined and fitted contacts with me. Also left notes on my file for follow up. It was a shame that it wasn't followed. The sales person was competent in getting good deals for me and explaining the prices after she did her research and calculations. If you want to go here, be prepare to do follow up yourself, have lots of patience and are not pressing for contacts or glasses. Good luck! read more

I made an account JUST to write a terrible review for this place. First, I showed up 30 minutes before my scheduled appointment in case there were paper work to be done. Another patient showed up the same time as I did, except he was one hour early. The front staff helped him first instead and kept me waiting in the front store for 45 minutes. The three staff members there claimed they were too busy so they cannot tend to my needs when I spoke up. The doctor there suggested I move forward with the appointment without checking my insurance because I was "late" for my appointment. How unprofessional and disorganized! When I said, I prefer to have my insurance checked to see how much will be covered, the doctor's face and attitude changed. The way she treated a patient (me) was rude, unprofessional and not worthy of the title, "doctor". When a staff finally walked toward me to check my insurance, he said everything is fine and my eye exam is covered. However, after the doctor rushed through my entire exam, the staff member who checked my insurance handed me a bill for the eye exam. Not only was my eye exam full price, he also claimed that my insurance only pays 50% off my eyeglasses and 15% off contacts, IF I get them together. Despite saying my eye exam was covered by my insurance, I received a full priced bill and was "strongly encouraged" to order contacts and frames with them. When I asked about my frames, the staff rudely told me I pick them out next week because I get a bigger discount when I order contacts and glasses together. HOWEVER, their contacts are TWICE the price of ordering independently from Walgreens or any other place WITHOUT insurance. When I refused the offer, the guy flipped out on me and asked, "why would you order from somewhere else without insurance when you can order from the store using insurance?". This is place is most likely a scam, trying to get paid twice, by the patient and your insurance company! I was here two years ago and had a great experience which is why I came back, Unfortunately this place went downhill very quickly! All the staff there are untrustworthy, rude and unprofessional. I will never be back here again! Giving them one star is being nice. -------- Update since my visit last week: Since I already paid, I went back for a followup exam. I reconfirmed my insurance with one of the staff members there because it did not make sense for me to pay my insurance but it does not cover a basic exam. Turns out, this store never took my insurance in the first place and decided not to tell me. Unfortunately, he lied and told me he had informed me of how much my bill would be if I took my exam. I cannot emphasize how much of a scam this place can be. They will lie their way to make it seem like it's the patient's fault. It is his job to tell me how much I need to pay BEFORE my exam, not AFTER. He should not have deceivingly told me that my insurance will cover a basic eye exam when it does not. Though I received a full refund, this guy had the audacity to squeeze out more money from me by offering a 50% discount on my frame and lens when my insurance can cover the entire cost at another reliable store with better integrity than this place. On top of that, I went to a different optician and eyewear store to get my eyes re-examined. Visionworks was WAY OFF with my prescription. They made my prescription stronger than it needs to be despite saying I felt dizzy looking through the lens. Thanks goodness I decided to have my prescription from this place destroyed and get my refund. This store has lost my business, and my positive references to friends & family who need a decent optician and eyewear. Do not go to this place. Horrible. Please do not go here for eye care. I went here to have a contact lens and glasses exam. The exam itself was crappy. The lens kept fogging up which made it very difficult to read the chart. Needles to say the script which resulted was not correct which was odd because the sample contact lenses I received seemed to work fine for a day or two. When the $130 box of contacts arrived they did not fit. I went to return and they made me feel as if I was ignorant and gave me this very condescending "doctors know better then you attitude". They refused to accept the contacts back until I saw the doctor AGAIN, which I had to wait a week to do! I don't know about you but not being able to see for a week is disabling for sure! They left without any other choice, this is what I did. When I returned to see the doctor she blamed ME! Telling me that my eyes must have "shifted". When I attempted to explain the problems with the test itself, she refused to listen and told me I needed to see a specialist. When I asked if they would take the $130 box of contacts back now, she said I would have to see the specialist first and gave me a referral to a doctor who did not accept my insurance. Having already paid for an appointment with VW and not wanting to fork out more money for a specialist, I took my needs to America's Best and they not only did a free and proper exam but gave me sample contacts that worked perfectly. When I returned to VW to get a refund so that I could have my insurance applied to my America's Best contacts purchase, they refused stating that the time period for a return had EXPIRED a week prior! No one EVER informed of a time period. Now I am left to wait for the general manager to resolve the issue, had to pay out of my own pocket contacts from America's Best and the general manager is on vacation for another week! What a poorly run establishment. I came in for an eye exam because it was the most affordable option without insurance. The staff couldn't have cared less about my existence. The whole process took over an hour and I was the only customer/appointment they had then entire time I was there.
