The good thing was the eye Dr was very nice! Thank goodness you don't have to be tied to the rest of the shop to use the dr. In the past, previous to this experience, I have always had very helpful sales people. This one was truly lazy and the last straw was when she insinuated that I was lieing over having my lenses tinted. I had to ask here if she thought I did it myself?! Upon my leaving I decided that I was going to look elsewhere though I had mentioned that I was going to the office that had done the tinting less than a year ago. I ended up in Lansdale 45 minutes away and found a place I had never heard of called myeyedr. Thanks Visionworks I found my new eye center!!! Their selection is better their customer service is stellar and the sales person had NO QUALMS SHOPPING and choosing grams that she thought would be perfect for me! May I add using my criteria! It actually reminded me of how the Lancaster LensCrafters was so many years ago and your Hummelstown location that I had just left a bit over a year ago. read more

Just had the worst experience with this location. I ordered glasses i. The middle of August. They told me they would be ready by the latest September 2nd. I would call every week to see if they were avaliable for pickup. The AI assistant would look up my information and tell me the glasses were not ready for pick up. Today on October 2nd, i call and ask to speak with a representative about this because now im concerned its been a month where are my glasses. The lady tells me oh were been calling the number you told us to delete years ago. We didnt send an email. Sorry they are here. So thats all you can say after negligence and not doing tour job? They couldve mailed them to me if they didnt have my number. I wont be going back, they talk about their patients when im in the office. And im over it. The eye doctor was very thorough, made me feel as if getting me the correct prescription mattered. But it was all downhill after the eye exam. I ordered a pair of glasses with digital progressive, transition lenses, with anti-glare. The glasses cost a lot less than I thought they would. All I could think was I had great insurance. I was told the glasses could take up to two weeks. That was only July 29. I got a text message on August 2 that the glasses were in. I picked up the glasses and frankly they did not seem right. But I thought I might need a day or two to adjust to the new prescription. they still did not seem right after a week. I went in on August 9 and the young lady in the shop adjusted how they sat on my face. they seemed better but not a lot. Regardless, I decided give them one additional week to adjust. I went back August 18 and explained the issues. Notably I had no peripheral vision and that I had issues seeing when the sun was shining from certain angles. I was told that I should have ordered digital progressive lenses with anti-glare. Which is what I asked for. But that is not what was ordered. I got comprehensive progressive lenses with no anti-glare. They re-did the order to what I had originally requested. The price increased by $155; I no longer thought I had great insurance. I was again told the glasses could take up to two weeks. A little more than two weeks pass. No glasses. I call on September 3 and the AI voice assistant passes the good news that my glasses have shipped and would be there in three to five days. Five days later, September 8, I call again and get the same message. September 9 I leave Philadelphia for a daughter's wedding in California fully expecting to get a message the glasses were in while I was traveling. I get back to Philadelphia September 14 and still no message the glasses are in. I call this morning, September 15, and the AI voice assistant again tells me the glasses have shipped and should be there in three to five days. I ask to speak with a person. And the person who answers looks into this, comes back on the phone and tells me the glasses have been in since August 23. This is simple math. My glasses have been in the store for 23 days - more than three weeks - and I learned this only by asking. It is clear the AI voice assistant is useless. But more importantly, the staff clearly is not focused on details. Such as getting the order correct or letting the customer know when the order is in. I cannot recommend aside from the Ashely Hudson, the eye doctor, who I noted at the beginning was excellent. read more

Dude, they broke my sunglasses. I bought this great pair Chrome Heart G Money sunglasses at Morganthal-Frederics for $1000 about ten years ago. They were so cool and when I wore them, I was cool. Time went on and my prescription changed so I went to Visionworks to get new lenses. A few days later I got a call saying that the lab broke my glasses and ain't that too bad for you. They offered a pair of their own cheap-ass glasses for free but all that they have there are decidedly most un-cool. I decided that they did not deserve my patronage and asked for a refund I paid on the lenses. And they did not even apologize. When they gave me back my busted frames I was like, "Gee, thanks", you know, ironically. And she said you're welcome! I said that an apology would have been nice and she finally muttered something about being apologetic. Oi! Well, that's what I get for not reading all the poor reviews that are already here. if you have a very simple prescription, then visionworks is probably fine. But I don't think the staff or the business model at Visionworks is set up to manage progressive lenses, Prisms, anything at all complicated. They are careless with their measurements, if they even take them. My sunglasses were sent back to the lab three times and the lab (in TX), never put the prescribed prism in the lenses. When I tried the lenses on in the store, the employee (they do not introduce themselves by name or title unless you ask) suggested that I take the glasses home and try them for a day or two because my eyes were probably tired. When I explained that without the prism, I see double and that is not going to resolve with the correct lenses, I am not sure she understood what I was talking about. She also said that she could not call the lab in TX b/c she would just be on hold forever. I will never return there. But it might work great for someone who only needs a little correction for myopia w/o astigmatism. read more

I told myself I wouldn't go back to this location after my previous experience two years ago, however they were the only location that had openings. My scheduled appointment was for 12:00pm walk into the office no one greeted me for about 10 mins I was asked to have a seat. At this time there was another family in there being serviced but very lackluster service! Then I find myself sitting there until 12:50 before I was even called and at this time I am the only one here no communication as to why I'm still waiting at this point I'm annoyed and went to ask about the wait and was told I would be helped when they got a second again I'm the only customer, that took another 20 minutes! Finally my exam begins with the tech who clearly doesn't love her job or working with customers no interaction small conversation nothing. I had another appointment to be at therefore I asked how much longer did I need to be there she states after you see the doctor which was another 20 minutes so I had to leave here rush to my other appointment that I was late for come back to continue my appointment here. The customer service is trash! The communication is trash! It's like no one wants to work! This was absolutely my last time at this place and probably with this entire cooperation since you can't even get a live agent on the phone without calling numerous times and waiting on hold for 15 minutes! Do better Visionworks I would never recommend this location not even to an enemy! read more

This was my first time at any Visionworks - I usually go to America's Best but I'm glad I switched. I dropped in last week for an eye exam, contact lenses, and glasses. I really needed an appointment and luckily ended up being able to schedule one for the next morning. I had the first appointment of the day on a Saturday so I was seen immediately. I was greeted by two very kind women at the front and then taken back by another. Everyone had a calm nature about them which is appreciative in these types of settings. The doctor was great as she fixed an overcorrection that likely was causing some headaches on my end and made a recommendation for a new contact brand that has been much more breathable. Later when trying on glasses, one of the women at the front helped me out - it felt like I had my mom there with me, that's the type of aura she gave off as she helped me pick a pair that fit my face, which I appreciated. I had a good experience and will likely return for future exams. read more

I walk in there to pick up my son's glasses (mind u I was never informed they were even ready) and I stood there and everyone just looked @ me...not one "Hello" no "Welcome someone will be right with you" absolutely nothin until about 3-4min went past and one of the employees finally decided to stop what she was doing (which was just sitting there) to finally assist me...my 1st time there everyone was personable, and welcoming, this time the opposite! I will never return to this place of business again. they had an attitude from the time we walked in till we left. i have never been treated so rudely and abrupt in my life at a business esp since we have been going here for years. manager argued with me about my insurance, which I have!!! and continued to berate me and my child about the services he was receiving as if we weren't covered. the manager never apologized or changed her attitude at all. some people shouldn't be in charge. bc if the managers attitude is like that I can see why the rest of the staff were rude and obnoxious. read more

It was years since my last eye exam and, after squinting and feeling blinded while driving at night, I finally decided to get my eyes checked. My husband, who has worn glasses for years, came here first and had a good experience. I made an appointment that I had to reschedule. When I called to reschedule, it turns out I wasn't in the system but they take walk-ins anyway. I made it to my rescheduled visit, got a thorough eye exam after waiting less than five minutes. I found really great Kate Spade frames. And most was covered by my insurance--I wouldn't have paid out of pocket for anything if I had picked $150 frames instead of $300 ones. My glasses were ready in just a few days and pick up was a breeze. I'll definitely be back here for regular eye care. read more

I visited the Market Square location of Visionworks with a pair of broken glasses that had been purchased in Arizona. My elderly mother had fallen and broken her glasses and I was at a loss for where to turn. A lovely young woman greeted me as I entered the store and gladly took on the project. She repaired the broken frame, straightened the bent bows and carefully cleaned the smudged lenses. When I asked what I owed, she told me that it was complimentary. Stopped by with a pair of glasses missing the screw that holds the lens in - purchased at another visionworks. Was first told that they closed in 25 minutes and so they couldn't help me today. Then that they didn't have records access to couldn't verify that I had purchased the glasses at another visionworks. When I said I would pay for the screw, I was told that they couldn't possibly know what screw to use without being able to look up the model from the other store. The manufacturer and style are on the arm of the glasses, if she'd even bothered to look at them. ADDENDUM: went to Columbus Blvd location today. Staff member immediately took glasses and without any verification or other information fixed them. Quickly, efficiently and cheerfully. read more

I was there in February 2021 and ordered my Glasses and contacts. They both came in a timely manner. However the contacts were ordered wrong and I tried calling the store and was kept on hold for 25 minutes and the my call was transferred to the Visionworks call center. The representative for the call center even called the store while I was on the phone with him 5 times and they sent him to the call center so he was going to send an email to the General Manager of this store and shockingly they never called me back either. So I went in to have this corrected and Nina (the manager when Brenda is not there) took my contacts and supposedly reordered the correct lenses. I waited 2 weeks and went back in to the store to see what was the matter and why I did not have my replacement lenses. The woman that I spoke to said that they were never ordered and she reordered them again. This time I waited 3 more weeks and went back in and they were still not there and spoke to Nina again and she said "I don't know what I did 5 weeks ago". So I had to tell her that she actually kept the wrong contacts and she looked at me like I was wrong and that she would not do that. So it is now over 3 months that I am without my contacts that I paid for and She had to again reorder them. Lets say I was very unhappy when I was in there and I tried to stay as polite as possible but being talked to like I was wrong when I knew what I was saying was correct is unacceptable. Then she had to run into the back office to do the reorder because I would not sit down was also very immature. So I asked for a copy of the order that she places and she gave me a copy of something that was printed over something else and the order could not even be read. The customer service he is very unprofessional and very rude if you have an issue they miraculously loss everything that you have given them and it is all your fault. Well I am not the Doctor or the tech selling you the glasses and contacts so it can not be the customers fault. I will never go to this store again and I feel sorry for anyone that does and has a problem. read more

My husband went for his exam on New Year's Eve and still hasn't received his contacts. He has been there four times so far and still no resolution. So far he has had two eye exams and the contacts were ordered wrong twice glasses ordered wrong once. The prescription that he received the first time was too strong and when he tried to tell the optometrist she told him it's normal to feel like that instead of trying to resolve the situation. He went to the Bala cynwyd location to get a second eye exam he received the right prescription but they couldn't complete the process, chestnut hill had to order the glasses and contacts. Okay great. Fast forward to today March 11th yes you read that right MARCH he picked up his glasses and his contacts so he thought... first when he walked in and spoke with Chantel she told him the glasses weren't there but the contacts were ?? Okay this is when the story gets good. He gets the contacts and walks out only to get into his car and sees that the contacts are wrong AGAIN X 3! He went back in and told them the contacts were wrong for the 3rd time. Chantel tells him she's not ordering the contacts again. The other receptionist found the glasses THAT WEREN'T THERE after asking for them to be sent to the house along with his new contacts. Now imagine driving back and forth to a location that clearly doesn't care about customer service. Then to be told by someone who is getting paid to be there and HELP you that they won't order a new pair after they made the mistake? Absolutely horrible! The most ridiculous experience. I had an exam 6 weeks ago, waited 3 weeks for a pair of glasses I paid for an order. They promise delivery with in 2 weeks however I gave them an extra week considering everything is backed up because of covid. I found out my glasses were damaged in the course of being created. They gave me the option of a replacement pair which I waited an addition 3 weeks to find out they never sent the frames I requested for the lenses I need. You will be told different procedures and operating practices depending upon who you speak with in the store. Unorganized, ignorant, unprofessional and incompetent staff. Ok, I'm all about building up, and not tearing down! So, this store is failing in customer service. My wife was on the phone and she had a question for (employee) who was about to help my girls. Well they never made it into the chair. Me: How long is the dilated pupil (not being clear, my fault) VW: 5 hours Me: Oh, I'm sorry, not how long are the effects, but the dilated pupil procedure. VW: Half an hour Me: so without the dilation procedure, how long? VW: Half an hour Me: Huh... Me: Excuse me my wife has a question (Trying to pass the phone) VW: she has to wait a minute, I'm setting up the computer. (With an aggravated tone) Finally passed the phone. IDK what was said, but I can hear my wife trying to talk, but she was rudely talking over her. So we walked out!!! Listen to the customers concerns or questions. This was one of the best eye doctor experiences I've ever had. Making an appointment was easy and I was able to go in on a Saturday on sort of last minute notice. I really liked the eye doctor. He was quick but thorough and informative. After that I was ordering glasses and the sales ladies told me to go ahead and try on without breathing down my neck. I don't really like when someone follows you around the whole time so that was nice. They were of course there for advice when I was down to two choices. They were all very friendly and helpful. I was happy with how quickly everyone got me in and out since I had a lot to do that day but I didn't feel rushed either. Will definitely be back! Edit since receiving my new glasses: they came several days earlier than promised and they're my favorite glasses I've ever had. The prescription is perfect, they were fitted perfectly to my face, and I love the way they look. read more

The actually staff inside the store is great. They are courteous and helpful, the doctor was very professional. Now when it comes to the corporation and the web site that is a whole other story. It is IMPOSSIBLE to call the store directly and the automated system is a kin to Chinese Water Torture. To top it off the website is completely useless for checking your order status. The system has shown my order as Pending/Delayed with no other details since 6/30/2022. At the time of this review I have been sitting on hold for 25 minutes attempting to get a human being on the line. I will never use vision works again. read more

Not organized at all. Don't communicate well with each other or the customer. Chalked giving me the wrong information to "we're human and it's Sunday". Come on. No apology, nothing. I ordered contacts lens on a Saturday. Was told a couple days for the order to come in. I waited 7 days, still no call. I called on the 8th day and was told the order didn't come in. They didn't see anything under my name. Placed me on hold, then came back and stated a few more days and the order will be here. Stated it takes 10-14 business days and not a couple days. We hang up. Then not even two minutes later(literally) another rep. calls me and says my order is ready. Just a box of contacts. I asked about the other boxes and she said oh it depends on your insurance. Told her that part was taken care of when I first ordered the contacts. She said oh was it, and advised that I come in because she couldn't discuss any more over the phone. read more

Nightmare! Doctor was wonderful; competent and thorough. Our attempts to order glasses, on the other hand, awful. My first experience, they messed up my Rx/ had to wait an extra week for them to get it right. When ordering, they insist on full payment upfront, which seems sketchy. Promotions don't count if you're using insurance, so forget about the bait and switch price promises. They couldn't find my insurance info in their computer, said they had to call corporate. Corporate was closed so I had to come back another day. The second sales woman was very rude, ignored me when we asked questions and continued shuffling papers despite the fact she clearly heard me. 5:01pm Saturday, I am standing in Visionworks talking to the receptionist who is sitting at the desk with My Eye Doctor. I say, "I just stuck myself in the eye, can the doc take a look." Doc says, "You shouldn't do that." and gets up and walks in the back. The receptionist asks me to wait. When she returns she tells me it is after 5PM (BY ONE MINUTE!) and the doc is packed up and leaving. I am speechless. This is my eye doctor!!! All I wanted was for him to look and tell me if I needed an emergency room or what. My sight was at risk! This guy is/WAS my eye doctor! Ended up at an Urgent Care. The doctor There wanted me to see my eye doctor and when I told him I had been to my Eye Doctor first, he was speechless and gave me the name of someone who wouldn't blow me off. read more

I was on the Visionworks website and I saw particular pair of eyeglasses that I was interested in and I called the store to see if they were available. The person I spoke with named Nicole would not look for the glasses that I was particularly interested in but she said I can come into the store and look for myself. I thought maybe the store was very busy after all it was on the weekend. 30 minutes later I go into the store and there wasn't any customers in sight and all of the associates were sitting at their desks talking amongst each other. I was greeted very politely by one of the associates and I told her that I was looking womens eyeglasses for myself. She then pointed to the wall of women's eyeglasses and that was it. No one asked me if I needed additional assistance. The sample glasses were filthy with fingerprints which grossed me out. I understand that people try on the glasses but at least clean them. I don't know if I am being picky but I thought that I would receive better service than I did. I will never go to that location again. read more

The only reason I gave it one star is because the receptionists were pretty nice. I only went to Visionworks because my insurance company covered more towards the exam and lenses. My first visit there I saw Palmieri. My first impression of him was that he was not very welcoming. He checked my eyes and prescribed a prescription for my glasses which I picked up 2 weeks later. I tried them for 2 days, but I got a instant headache and my vision was very blurry, so I called back and scheduled an appointment with another optometrist because I thought if "Mr Charming" couldn't get in right maybe his colleague could. She tried a few different lenses but couldn't get it right either. I was about ready to give up and pay out of pocket elsewhere. However, I decided to give them a 3rd try since my insurance had already been billed and made another appointment. I wasn't aware that it was scheduled with "Mr. Charming" again. During my visit, he kept making the comment "as we get older our eyes get worse" Okay, I understand that, but are you penalizing me because I'm older. How would you treat a senior? He made that comment about 6 times and kept trying different lenses, is 1 better than 2 or is A better than B. So, I said, A is better than B but it's still blurry and he made that comment again, well as we get older....I said "isn't that why we get glasses so we can see" and his comment was, "I can't fix your eyes." I had enough. I told him to give me my glasses I'm done. Told him he was rude and walked out. I would rather pay out of pocket and go elsewhere rather then ever step foot in a Visionworks again. read more
