Eye doctor and receptionist are not kind. I was told I had a 5 minute grace period after calling letting them know I would be a few minutes late. I got there before the 5 minute grace period and the eye doctor refused to take me even though I was on time! The doctor was very rude. Overall horrible experience and complete waste of time. They need to work on their customer experience. Do not come here. read more

Extremely rude, abrasive and the most unprofessional attitude I have ever seen. We had to walk out in the middle of the appointment because we couldn't take her attitude anymore. I was discriminated against today at Vision Works. I walked in the store with a prescription and was ready to buy contacts. I was with my wife and we were the only ones in the store. Another couple walks in 5 minutes later and in the middle of assisting us, Karen tells us to sit down and wait and she proceeds to help the other couple. Instead of letting them know that she will be with them after us. My wife and I were there first and we had to wait for her to finish with the other couple. Which she should have assisted my purchase first and told the other couple to sit and wait. This is highly unacceptable and I asked to speak to a manager and no manager was present or scheduled. read more

While the optometrist was wonderful and professional, it does not make up for the other deficiencies. First off, the selection of glasses is poor. No spring-supported hinges available at all. My insurance covers the exam, a pair of frames and the lenses, but I somehow walked out with 2 substandard pairs for almost $800? Then after paying for every possible coating and protection, and keeping them in a velvet case, they are so scratched up within a few months and the coatings are clearly degraded. I called and asked if they could buff out scratches (a service every other eye glass provider offers that I have encountered), and they couldn't answer. When asked about if they warranteed their products they said that if I paid for the warrantee they would give me $30. So basically I would have paid $770 for no wearable glasses. This is the provider my insurance pays for, but I will gladly pay out of pocket to go back to Pearle. I highly caution anyone considering purchasing glasses here. read more

Will Never go back there. Had an appointment that I made on line the day before. Next day I got a text saying, looking forward to seeing you at that date and time. So I got there and was told I had no appointment for that day or time. I even showed her the text they sent me and she said No, that they couldn't take me because it didn't show on her computer. I had an annual eye exam with Dr. Cindy Logan in South Elgin, Il. I was welcomed by the technician the minute I walked into the office. The office itself was very clean an organized and there was a large selection of frames. I was taken to pre testing within a few minutes of arrival. I had my eye pressures taken and photos were taken of the back of my eye. When the tech was finished Dr. Logan took me into the exam room right away.I have never had such a thorough eye test. When she was done I was able to see better than I have in years. I wear monovision contacts and they can be pretty tricky. Dr.Logan had me seeing perfectly out of my contacts again. I saw the difference driving home and seeing small print. I would definitely recommend seeing Dr. Logan if you are in need of an eye exam. read more

I have been going to Visionworks for the past two years. I get wonderful service and am very happy with the Dr.

I placed an order for my contacts with an associate and was advised I would get a call or text when they arrive. Unfortunately, I never received notification. No one ever called, text, or emailed me to advise my order has arrived. Trying to call and speak to a human is almost impossible. I called several times and every time an automated message would say my order was still pending. When I finally got through to an associate I was advised my order was already in. It was NOT pending like the automated system stated. Visionworks solely relies on the automated system and does not have a policy to call their clients if they notice a delay in pick up. It can sit there for weeks and you will not be notified. You may experience poor customer service due to system issues that never get resolved. read more

Brought my 2 kids for eye exam on 8/9 before they going bac to school, and today is 8/16 and they are still unable to release the prescriptions. Big disappointment and waste of time and gas. I had an appointment today. I arrived at the office and first learned during the check in process that there is now a mandatory test that is NOT covered by insurance. If a patient refuses to agree to this then no exam at all is performed. The cost of this nearly triples the cost of the exam. It would have been helpful to have this information at the time the appointment was made. I refused the service. This has soured me on all Visionworks. I now have a new appointment later in the month for an office at another provider. I feel duped! read more

I went to this Visionworks to take advantage of the "two glasses for $69.99". The staff was nice enough in helping me pick out my frames, and the Optometrist was competent (a bit full of himself though). I don't recall buying anything else but the lenses. My bill was over $600. I was pissed but I sucked it up because I really needed new glasses. The staff at that point basically said that was the price for everything. I believe this store is still open because they do a good job generating income. read more

Dr. Logan is someone you shouldnt waste your time on. Very rude and disrespectful.Snaps at you and interupts you and ignores you. And i hadnt slept and had trouble putting my contacts on in another room and was cussing to myself as i struggled with it. she overheard me and assumed i was cussing at her despite her being in another room and talked to me like i abused her. then really gave me an attitude and ignored everything i said and gave me test contacts that didnt work. she told me i did see well through them, that i just didnt like them. then got upset and played victim when i insisted that i really couldnt see out of them. i later went to the optical place at target in stc and they listened and got contacts i can see out of. read more

I found the staff at vision Works extremely friendly and helpful. Also the price for a better pair of glasses was less than half the price I spent for progressive lenses at my last vision provider. After I received my glasses I managed to lose them a month later and vision works replace them for me with a 40% discount. Very happy. read more

The staff was helpful in helping me find a frame that complemented my face and style. When I needed them adjusted, it was a quick visit. Unfortunately I am not happy with the quality of the lenses. I've been wearing glasses for most of my life and have always got the special coating. This is the first place I've have issues with it. I thought maybe it was an unfortunate batch or something. It started (peeling maybe) to give my glasses this scratched, iridescent appearance. I've had these glasses for only a few months. So I took them in to see what was happening and what could be done to fix them. Nothing.... supposedly because I didn't get the EXTRA insurance on them there was nothing visionworks would do. I was told I would have to replace the lenses. I spent a good amount of money here despite the reviews. Lesson learned. read more

What a great experience at Visionworks! Dr. Ahmad and his team were friendly, professional and efficient. I scheduled a same day appointment for an eye exam and I was seen at the appointed time. Dr Ahmad was clearly knowledgeable and strives to create a positive patient experience. While I didn't purchase my frames here, it seemed they had a large selection of name brand eye wear. They accept Vision Service Plan (VSP) Optical Insurance and that process was seamless as well. I was impressed with their customer-centric approach and recommend them to anyone who needs an eye exam, contacts, glasses or other optical services. read more

Extremely poor customer service. Had to wait almost 3 weeks to get my glasses . Glasses hemselbes kept falling off from the frame and I had to go back a few times to get them out back on. They finally told me that the glasses were cut wrong and they ordered a new pair. No news for weeks. Had to call back 3 times , a few days after they said they should be ready , they said they had the glasses but did not know why there was no frame. Nobody cared even calling me. First and foremost I do love the glasses that I got and contacts. My issue is that when I called in to see if my items were in I had to talk to at least 3 people to find my order. Then I was told it takes two weeks for my glasses to come in. Wtf why? That's ridiculous. Luckily the day after I called to check on my order they had called me to tell me my contacts were in. While I was there I asked about my glasses. The girl went in back to check and they were there. Sooooo why wasn't I told on my voicemail that they were in as well? So they weren't going to tell me for another week or two?? I also don't like that they don't do a proper fitting for glasses like lens crafters does or other places. I only went to vision works because my insurance wouldn't let me go to lens crafters. Now I'll be getting new insurance I think I'll be heading to Lens crafters next year. read more

I used to use this location for both myself and my families eye care needs and initially they were great. Our normal optician is Dr. Logan and she is amazing, but you cannot select her when trying to make an appointment online. During the week of 11/9, I tried to calling this location daily to setup an appointment with her, but no one answers the phone. Getting frustrated by day 5 of no answers, I went to the location to find them closed with no message of why on their website, phone recording, nothing. As I was waiting outside, 4 more customers showed up to see the locked doors and missed UPS and FED EX notifications filling the door outside. I came back again on 11/24/20 and the location was open. After going inside and finally talking to someone after 10 minutes of waiting. During my wait, I sat and watched the phone ringing non-stop and no one picking up with several workers not paying any attention or not caring and customers sitting alone at tables waiting to be seen, I get the hint that this location should no longer be our location of choice. The woman I finally talked to was smug and said they had been closed for 5 days and gave no reasoning. Almost seems like she couldn't get me out the door quick enough after my questions. I am calling again now to cancel my appointment and have been on hold again for the last 10 minutes with no one picking up, even when prompting for an emergency to see if someone would pick up. Hanging up now as this is a joke. I would run.....not walk from this location for future needs as it is obvious this how they now operate, after two weeks of trying to get in touch with them. It's embarrassing for a corporate location to provide this type of service. Count us as ex customers going forward as there are many other service providers that would gladly accept 4 new patients. read more

Worst place I've ever had to deal with for glasses, first they lost my daughter's order for 6 weeks. Now the coating on the glasses are coming off. They did offer to replace the lens but told me I had to wait for a tech to be in, and that the tech is only there on Tuesday and Wednesday until 5 pm. I called to verify the tech would be is at 4:30 pm and the tech was gone. My wife also purchased glasses from this location and she was very unhappy with her glasses. read more

I will never go back to vision works after my experience. I brought my 4 year old in for her pre kindergarten appointment and they were very cold to her and, for lack of a better word, tortured her and traumatized her. They made me force her face to the machine that puffed air in her eye. They refused to continue the appointment and said they are not a pediatric optometrist and don't have the experience and referred me elsewhere. I was so upset I didn't want to continue getting my own eyes checked, but continued because I was in great need of glasses. The optometrist continued to bad mouth my profession and my employer. Later after speaking with multiple parents and optometrists, I was told the air puff test is never done for children that young and that that was very unprofessional. If vision works doesn't have the experience or know how to work with children, I don't know why they knowingly made the appointment. read more

I'm always prepared to spend some hefty cash when I'm buying glasses or contacts. Great, large selection of glasses. I can't speak to the eye exams as I go somewhere else. When I put it in Google Maps, it took me to a physical therapy place so i was pretty confused. At this point I'm about five min late. After spending an HOUR AND 10 MINUTES on hold - thinking I was on hold for my local store, they finally answered and connected me. Why did it take and hour and 10 minutes on hold? Because they didn't answer their phone so it rolled over to a "Company wide call center" without even telling me. I finally got someone at my local store to answer and needed to make an emergency appointment which they offered me TWO WEEKS from now! They have no contingency emergency appointments - even though their website says differently. I've been a customer there for years and I'm GONE. I will take my business elsewhere where they inspire more confidence than a company that can't seem to get their act together in any department - especially in an emergency situation! An no Vision Works, don't respond to this review with your normal cut and paste, canned response to 'send you the details and you'll look into it for me'. It was TODAY and for the last hour and a half! All the details you need are right here, and I don't need you to look into it because it doesn't matter - I'm going elsewhere. Horrible business. Buyer beware. They use cheap plastic lenses and represent them as polycarbonate. The manager at the south Elgin location is incompetent. They can't seem to keep employees for very long and the ones they do have are pretty rude. Do NOT take your children here for their kindergarten eye-check. The scary thing is Visionworks was recommended by the school nurse as they have "cheap" eye exams. I called to make the appt, which was made easily. I told them I needed to bring my daughter in for her required kindergarten eye exam. I ended up getting called into work, so my husband ended up taking her to her exam. 3 hours later, he called me to tell me that our daughter needs glasses. Not only needs glasses, but her vision is terrible and that her prescription needed is worse than mine!!! Our daughter has never shown that she had a hard time seeing. Fast forward to today. We picked up her glasses yesterday and today was the 1st day she wore them. Two hours later, she is crying telling me hers eyes hurt and that she couldn't see anything! I take the glasses off and try them on myself. I could barely see, the prescription is so strong. I called the store and Stephanie (who is very nice) told me that when making an appt, I should've been asked if my daughter knows ALL of her letters and numbers by sight. I was not asked this. She said that they do not do pediatric exams (um... hello. She just turned 5!!!) and that if she doesn't know all her letters and numbers I need to take her somewhere else. Wow. You think?!?! Now we have spent over $150 on an exam and glasses. I'm waiting for the manager to call me back. Been waiting since 1030am. I also spoke to my husband who said that he was concerned during the eye exam and asked the optometrist (who I think needs a new job) if the exam was valid since our daughter only knows about 1/2 of the alphabet by sight and they said that they have other checks and balances that help determine the prescription needed. This TOTALLY goes against everything that Stephanie said and is NOT true. When asking a 5 year old which picture is clearer, they are not quite sure themselves, so they say what they think we want to hear. This is coming from my pediatrician whom I called right away when my daughters eyes started to hurt. I should have asked my pediatrician where to take her for her eye exam in the beginning. My fault. But I thought that I could trust the professionals as vision works. My fault again. I can only wonder how many 5 year olds are walking around with glasses that they don't even need.
