Went here with my family not too long ago to purchase glasses for my brother and fix my bent glasses. While my brother was satisfied with his purchase and their efficiency in putting his prescription in the frames within the hour, I was not at all as pleased. The employee who "fixed" my glasses took one look at them then took them behind a counter and then proceeded to mangle them. I'll include pictures of the carnage but once I got them back from her, I noticed they were very tight around my head and face which I thought would just loosen up with time. Since I was so used to them not being tight I didn't even notice the crookedness of them until later that night. I have no idea how this could have happened but my glasses were strangely bent like I have never seen before. Also I've included a picture of a small crack that's on the tail end on my frames, I have no clue if it was caused by the bending but it wasn't there before I went to visionworks. Honestly, you're better off going to Costco to fix bent glasses. read more

I see Alex C and D.M.'s reviews and know they had the same person waiting on them as I did yesterday. It's really as bad as both of them said. Andrew waited on me, and never, not once, let me ask a question before assuming he knew what was coming and chose to talk over me. This started when I entered the store and tried to ask if I could browse frames, and was told to sit down and wait. It was bizarre. I get Andrew must hear the same questions time and again, but he really never wanted to listen or be helpful. If he's that bored he could move on. As he managed me through my buying experience, he'd ask "Are we using insurance?" and "Are we visiting for the first time?" which reads inclusive and warm but was delivered with cold disinterest. In that light, we weren't impressed and we won't be shopping here again. read more

My new glasses have been giving me some trouble, and I've needed to go back several times for adjustments (and ultimately a different prescription). The team, especially Andrew, have been focused on helping me get everything right! I've been in a few times when it is very busy, and I can see how much Andrew and his team are hustling to serve, but also making sure everyone is getting the attention they need. And I have a lot of empathy and appreciation for folks working in roles that require them to be public facing throughout a pandemic! read more

They were nice when I purchased three pairs of glasses but when I went back to pick them up it was a different story. I asked for cleaning cloths and was given one, begrudgingly, shouldn't they come with each pair? When I said I would like three, one for each pair of glasses, I was told NO! Seriously? I just spent $600 ($1,500 before insurance) and I can't have a cleaning cloth! I explained that I purchased three pairs but was told NO once again. For the price of a cleaning cloth, that has your logo on it, you lost a good customer and deserve the bad review. A little customer service goes a long way! read more

The eye exam was rushed resulting in one eye of my glasses being incorrect prescription. I went back to the store to reschedule an exam and have my lenses corrected as and if needed and was treated like I was trying to get over on the store. The manager was called over to classify my re-exam and he walked away while I was still talking to him. The exam and glasses I bought were too expensive to have their mistake impact me like this. I have not been treated with such disrespect in any establishment. I ended up walking out of the store and will never return. Stay away from this place, find a professional. read more

I picked Up my glasses yesterday and service was great. I went tonight because the glasses were so loose that I can't wear them. There was an older optician there and only 1 client. Store was closing in 20 minutes and he refused to help because " I am the only optician here and I have to close up the store when it's time. "I was quite surprised because I have had such a good service there from other people. I left the store telling him that I would not be returning. It takes about two minutes to tighten somebody's glasses especially when I pick them up the evening before and spent a fortune. read more

I have purchased several pairs of glasses from this location. Brian, who is the manager, is great, but the other employees that I have interacted with are incredibly rude and unhelpful. Because I didn't know the process of getting contacts the man at the front desk openly talked down to me and was immediately agitated. The day after Christmas my daughter and I had appointments for an eye appt and the front desk staff were immediately rude (except for the woman working there, they were rude to her as well). I never complain about businesses or people but I was so taken back by how I was treated. The one man in particular behind the desk I think his name was Andrew or Alex, he has glasses and is horrible at customer service and immediately gave me attitude because they had called me a couple times asking for insurance info...which I did tell them the last time they called I didn't have the cards and they said no problem, he was absolutely irate with me and then began yelling at the woman behind the desk saying someone was in the chart and she look terrified to answer this horrible man. The two men were rude, the woman appeared self conscious due to these men who she works with, we chose to walk out of there, I was still in shock by the absolute disgusting treatment we got. I highly recommend staying clear of this place if you have any self respect and I hope that woman finds a job with men who don't treat her so poorly! read more

The doctors here could take a pointer or two about customer service from their associate staff. I have NEVER been so appalled by the manner in which I've been spoken to as I was today. I was calling to figure out how to order contacts and the doctor I spoke to was SO rude. I don't know who she thought she was speaking to but to speak to a paying customer the way she did was unimaginable. I ordered my contacts from the absolutely helpful and courteous gentleman associate and came so close to going off on him about the doctor. She should be ashamed. Grow up. You may not like every situation you are put in or every question that's asked 100 times a day but put on some adult pants and lose your horrible attitude. I'll never do business with this Visionworks again. If she spoke to me this way how do you think she speaks to the staff? Bye bye Visionworks Westwood. Horrible. read more

I am not one to take the time to write reviews but I was so frustrated by the service at Visionworks yesterday that I needed to share the experience. My first appointment went well with one of the doctors who was patient and helpful to get me fitted for contacts. I have been in contacts for over 35 years so am pretty used to the protocol. I left with two pairs to see which prescription I preferred. While not typical, the doctor said call the office and we can send the prescription you prefer. This was a pleasant surprise to me as again, I have been wearing contacts longer than most of the doctors I see have been alive! After a few days, I try to call the store and all I get is a computer. I try the chat function on their website and leave two messages. I get a response but no prescription. So, I decided to drive back to the store to get the prescription in person. The person at the front desk could not have been less helpful. He goes to check with the doctor on site and is told I cannot get my prescription without another appointment. I ask if I can talk to the doctor and am told no. So, I say fine. When can I get an appointment? He tells me I have to see the same doctor I saw the first time. He starts checking and says she is not back until the end of July! I am at this point very frustrated and ask why I cannot see another doctor to which he says that is not what we do. He proceeds to check the computer and then realizes the doctor I saw is actually NEVER coming back! At this point, I am really frustrated and I ask to just get a refund for my appointment for my contact fitting to which he replies, we cannot do that. Visionworks only contracts that space in the back. He insists that the two are not connected at all and that the front of the store is not accountable for what happens in the offices in the back. The lack of ownership on behalf of Visionworks for the service that is provided IN their store is what got me the most frustrated. I get that right now everywhere is down staff but this experience should not be acceptable. The crappy part is I am REQUIRED to return to have them release my prescription or I just throw away $120 bucks. And apparently, they could have booked me with another doctor all along but just wouldn't. read more

after I left the Brookline store in anger, I drove out to Westwood and had a wonderful experience. Vu came right to me and spent an hour helping me pick out 2 pairs of glasses for reading and daily use. I am very happy even though I had to drive far because the Brookline one near me was so horrendous. read more

My family & I have been to this location a handful of times. In the past, it has always been fine...with minimal customer service. Today I popped in without an appointment. I wanted to get my glasses adjusted & look into getting a pair of prescription sunglasses. I was instantly greeted by Tamika. She happily took my glasses to replace the nose pads and cleaned them. She then pleasantly invited me to browse through the sunglasses collections. Once I selected a pair, we sat down to make out the order. She explained everything beautifully and diligently worked to maximize my insurance. Tamika made a chore into a great experience. I will happily recommend Vision Works and Tamika!! read more

Please go elsewhere. These people have the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Glasses are only backed for one year. One day later, and you're on your own. Had defective lense and they would only sell me two lenses at full price. No consideration at all. Never again. I'm going back to LensCrafters. At least they stand behind their products. read more

I was very disappointed in the service at Vision works in Westwood. No one seemed to know which frames were covered under my insurance plan and then the associate did not know any details about what was covered under my plan. It is particularly strange since Visionworks is owned by DAvis Vision! While I looked it up on my phone, instead of looking it up on her computer, she left to assist another customer. I got the information from the Davis website but the associate was still not clear about how much to charge me. I left very frustrated and without purchasing glasses. read more

I went here to get glasses and they told me they would be in no later than 10 days. I called on the 9th day and they said they would definitely be here today. Today is day 10 and they are not in because they messed up when they cut the lenses and had to redo them and now they said they will not be in until Saturday. I have a wedding in Providence so I am not able to get there and they are not open on Sunday so I have to wait until Monday. This is totally unexceptable as far as I am concerned. Of the two times I called the sales help did not know what was going on. Very poor place to get glasses and I wish I had gone to Harvard where they had 2 pairs for $96! read more

It started out ok. The eye exam went well. It went completely downhill from there. Three different appointments to pick up contacts. I had to walk out because I waited nearly 15 minutes at the front desk just to be acknowledged. The staff cannot figure out how to use the computer system. So it takes a ridiculous amount of time for them to do anything in it. They are trying to answer phones, greet people, do billing, and retrieve records for the optometrist WHILE they are in the middle of the exam. When they can't figure things out, they just shrug their shoulders. It's ridiculous. I would never go there again. read more

Maybe they are great on single vision glasses, but they are awful on Progressives!! I went in to get glasses in June and the Sales Rep I had was terribly inpatient. He wanted me to hurry up and make a decision. As this was my first time giving Visionworks a try had my RX and had him examine my old glass and I told him I wanted the exact same as I had before (in terms of coatings, transition and thinnest of lens). I got the call within the 10 days and picked up my glasses only to find out the Rx was incorrect because the measures were incorrect. Picked them up the second time and still not correct. I have no peripheral vision and I'm being told the progressive have no Rx on the outer and inner edges. WHAT!!! Then the sales Rep. proceeds to draw me a picture as if though I was an idiot and couldn't understand what he was saying to me. I found this behavior insulting to say the least. At this point another Sales Rep (Brian) took over for him...because he was basically telling me I had to keep these glasses and nothing could be done about it. I didn't spend $600+ on glasses that I cannot use. I was then told that the lens I was given was not what I had before as they were expensive. The idea of giving me the least expensive thin lens and never telling me is totally unacceptable. The move expensive ones are what I previously had and they extend the Rx to the edges. Give me what I had before (and what I asked for) let me be the judge on what I can or cannot afford. This last assumption to me was the most insulting!! Brian is trying to make things right and offered to reorder my glasses as requested (in the thinner previously owned lenses), lets see if these are any better, but based on all of the above, I don't thing I will EVER go back to Visionworks again...I'll stick with Four Eyes...I know them and they get it right the 1st time. read more

I had an unusual emergency, and they helped me immediately! I scratched my cornea (in my sleep???) badly and it was both painful and affecting my vision. They took me in for an exam and got me prescription drops that day. They also scheduled a follow up the next day to make sure I was healing. I have forgotten their names, but the guys at the front were funny and the optometrist that helped me was on point (even though she was dealing with new computer software). Will be back for a regular exam... that I am overdue for. I was surprised to see bad customer service comments! Not me! read more

The only reason I'm giving it two stars is because the woman who helped me pick out my glasses was so kind. My doctor on the other hand - probably the most rude person I could have encountered. She questioned my medical history section (saying I was probably wrong about my mother having pre-glaucoma even though she was diagnosed with it) and then argued with me as if I was lying about which lines I could read on the Snellen chart. Why would I lie about that? It felt like I was being interrogated the entire time, not being given an eye exam. She kept touching me to adjust me and then asking if I was okay after. Probably should ask before you grab me by the shoulders and move me around. Just a suggestion. I asked her if she thought a prescription would help and she said I may fall into the "odd patients" category who "thinks it helps" but doesn't. For the record, I was told one month ago that my left eye was reading 20/40 so I definitely needed a prescription. Now I don't even know if I got the right one because she kept trying to convince me I didn't need it even though I couldn't read the chart. I've met very few people as awful as her. I do not know how the other doctors are at this location but I would not recommend her to anyone. Her attitude really gave me a bad taste for the entire practice. Will not be going again. Having my dad pick up my glasses so I don't have to be treated like an idiot again. read more

Not going back. Both times in the Westwood location I was very uncomfortable. Employees see you enter and do not welcome you or ask you if you need assistance until I stand at front desk awkwardly. Eye doctor was very through. After exam doctor handed me off to an employee and stated that he would help me to chose glasses. Well this employee helped me for several minutes and as I was looking at frames he started to help another customer, no big deal I thought he will be back momentarily. He did not come back to me, he and the other customer were sitting at the desk and he was helping her chose glasses. At that point I was frustrated and another employee must have sensed that and came over to me and proceeded to help. That employee is Vu. He is a highly competent individual with exceptional people skills. He assisted me through the whole process. He is a very kind person. On another note. If you receive a promotional card in the mail for a buy one get one free eyeglass offer.....beware! My promo was, 2 pairs of glasses for $169, great deal right? Not, total for 2 pair of glasses $500.00. Even if I had gone with the cheaper frames no way would it have come to 169.00. Maybe the old "bait and switch" tactic at work here. The only reason why I used them is because my insurance, didn't matter because I wasn't told my insurance wasn't active that same day I showed up for my appointment.
