For bar food in this town this is one of the best locations. That said I've never seen a bartender in here who is on top of their game. They are always chatting with people or just slow while everyone else waits forever. I have waited twenty minutes for a pickup order that was wrapped up and ready to go before I even got there, because the bartender would rather chat with others than serve. It's often busy in here so maybe they should have multiple bartenders at all times? Something.. because the service here is painful. Inside is okay though. Drove past this place, it looked like a shoe-string bar so I didn't expect much from it. I tried the Fire Cracker Shrimp Tacos, first of all the shrimp wasn't fresh, would have been better if it had. Wow what a great find. We were hankering for seafood but more on the casual side when just ran across from Vista Del Mar. It defiantly is a local hangout as it is a bit off the main streets in an industrial area. Then again these types of business are usually the best hidden gems. Bar/Restaraunt was clean and bright. The owner/bar tender was friendly and helpful! We had the fried oyster poor boy and diablo shrimp tacos and both were really good. Too bad it was so early in the day otherwise I would have had a craft beer to go with it. Gonna make it back here for evening fare and drinks before we leave! read more

Been here a couple times and in Humboldt I've never need someone so fluently handle a bar while also being a great human and a sweet soul. Being from Oklahoma, we definitely know good seafood, but this is by far the best we have come across. The clam chowder was on point, very flavorful and everyone at the table agreed the coconut panko encrusted almond shrimp was the best. The homemade slaw accompanying it was the perfect combination of heat and sweet. I will definitely be trying to recreate that shrimp. Atmosphere was lively, bartenders and staff all hard working and friendly. Shuffleboard in the back and a good place to watch the game or belly up to the bar to chat with a local. We were there on a Sunday night. There was only one bartender/server and one cook. They did a fantastic job keeping up with the groups that filtered in. The grilled fish taco was flavorful and not fishy tasting. We also had the mixed veggie deep fried basket that consisted of mushrooms, zucchini, and onions. All very good. Well hell, the place is sliding down hill. Went their twice this past two weeks and it WAS my favorite spot. The bar maid was highly distractible both times, spending time talking and acting silly rather than serving me (I sat at the bar both times). First time I ordered the Nachos. Skimpy portion. So far I have tried the Cesar Salad Chicken Wrap, the Vista Del Mar Burger, Tots, Clam Chowder, Fish n' Chips and the Bloody Mary and they are all very tasty and fresh. They make the chowder themselves and it rivals Spud Point in Bodega Bay, which is my absolute favorite chowder spot in California and I've been to quite a few. I love a good Bloody Mary and they put a good amount of pepper in it, not on the rim, it hits the spot for Sunday brunch. They have a great selection of beers from local breweries and beyond, and have a full bar so if you can name the cocktail I'm sure they could accommodate you. For the 'Rona' closures they had a nice tent set up outside with heat lamps. The wait staff really put in the hard work to get orders out quick, and stayed on top of drink refreshment, which we all know is hard to do in these crazy times. The food was better than good, and the portions were larger than we expected. The service, though, was superb! Kalynn was our server, and though she was serving an overload (someone hadn't shown up that day) she was handling things masterfully. We never saw her going anywhere, to OR from the kitchen, without something in her hands, and she kept looking around to see if anyone needed her attention. So...great food, lots of it, and excellent service. We don't live anywhere near Eureka, but the next time we're in town we'll be back. read more
