I was pleasantly surprised to get great service and good food at this late night spot.

No service at all (you walk to bartender and order and bring all your food to table) but food is delicious! Highly recommend chicken tenders, grilled fish tacos, and side salad. French fries are gross, taste like frozen fries. read more

Came in late at night and they were so happy to serve us. Staff are friendly and super efficient! I ordered a fish taco and it hit the stop. My friend ordered a Cobb salad and it was excellent. The vibe was just so-so when I stopped in, but could of been the time or day of week ( I was there during the week). I'm sure the weekends are a little more lively. Now onto what's right, the food. The fried oysters are awesome. Crispy but not too oily fried oysters. The oyster inside was still moist. It wasn't chewy or dry. Firecracker shrimp appetizer wasn't spicy but they were more than tasty. The sauce that came with was good and they were huge. Co workers chowder looked really good and that's what their statements about it indicated as well. My coworker who had the firecracker fish tacos said he loved them and they looked so good I almost ordered them but had already ate too much. To top it off the beer selection was good. Full bar. Clam chowder is bomb. So are the seafood tacos. Very modern flavors and ample clams in the chowder. It's so rare to find decent chowder now.

The food seemed pretty good at the time but I got really sick from it the next day so I will not return. The bartender owner is a jerk. He doesn't wait on you and treats you badly when he finally does. He has a real problem. I will spend my money elsewhere. The staff are rude and unprofessional. We wanted to have a drink & found Vista Del Mar. We are not from the area, but everyone at the bar was friendly and seemed to be regulars. We sat at the bar & had a chicken cesar salad and a bowl of chili, which both were good. The bartenders were also very nice and gave great service! I recommend you visit Vista Del Mar. read more

Food was really good but it seems as if you show up looking like a tourist you will probably not get as good of service. As I said, food tasty, beer cold, service ok. The staff was also partying with a group at the end of the bar and may have knocked back a couple which may have had an adverse effect on our service.... all good, would go again. read more

Stopped in at 8:52 pm and we were told the bar/restaurant is closed. Per Yelp this establishment closes at 1 am and there was even a note the hours were updated a couple days ago. This is a bar that serves great pub fare. It's a bar. Not a restaurant. The job of the person we see when we walk in is to serve us drinks. They double duty to take our food orders and to get us great hot plates of delicious food. They do this for us so that we come more often. So we stay longer. So we drink. So people who don't drink have a good reason to go somewhere with folks who do. So folks who enjoy delicious, cooked to perfection every time, heavy, greasy, lovely pub food have a reason so show up even if they don't drink. So we have something decent to eat late at night if we are hungry late at night. So we can eat substantially when we go out drinking so we don't get ill. All of these things are so very thoughtful. Please stop critiquing the service. It's a great bar; I've observed thatthe bartenders are quick with drinks and courteous. They serve everyone kindly and promptly at this bar (no need to be a cool kid, a regular, or monied). There is good food here for vegans. There is good food here for carnivores. There is good food here for people who like to eat healthy and for those who prefer taste above all else. There are GF options. Don't bring kids to a bar. Best corned beef hash I've ever had! Great weekend brunch menu with excellent food. We arrived by boat to Eureka Marina on a Sunday morning after an overnight passage and walked down the street to find breakfast when we stumbled upon Vista Del Mar as the closest place to the marina with a big welcoming "Weekend Brunch" sign. We were hesitant because it's a bar, but their brunch menu sounded great, it was quiet, the staff was friendly, and we were tired from our trip so we decided to give it a chance. Food was delicious, but they were NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY at all. We came to pick up our order and the kids needed to go to the bathroom while we waited. The old man in the back didn't want them to use the restroom because he didn't want kids in the bar. Then as we were STILL waiting for our food, the old man then yelled, "GET THOSE DAMN KIDS OUT OF HERE!" So, caution if you are trying to bring your family even for takeout. Found this spot while on a weekend drive with my husband. Searching for a place that had both chowder and fish &chips with great reviews. Enter Vista Del Mar. the chowder was beyond amazing, full of clams and well, everything. The husband said the fish & chips was some of the best he's had (I'd probably ask for a light coat of batter). Billi Jean was a one woman army manning the bar and tables. The cook (or runner) was fast with the orders. A few things to note is that you seat yourself and if you want faster service go to the bar to order. We will be back! read more

So this place isnt in the best location; however our food was good. We had the mac and cheese which was really yummy and chicken quesadilla which was also really good. I would have given five stars except there was only one server who was also tending bar. She was really nice and worked really hard but our wait time was pretty lengthy. Well, first off this place is amazing, great location and amazing service in the heart of Eureka. A cute little bar and restaurant. The menu was amazing for everyone and especially as a Vegan, I must say I was soooo excited to see on the menu that there is a vegan special that rotates all the time! And it's not just a boring salad. I got a delicious Tempeh "bacon" and avocado sandwich, with the best in house pickles I've ever had! Good food, but whatever you do, don't come here in the evenings or when they're busy -- TERRIBLE service! We went here the other night when it was pretty full, though most of the other customers were just drinking and not eating. Even so, we had to wait over an hour for our food! There is absolutely no reason why basic pub food should take that long. Multiple tables of patrons came in after we did (like 30-40 mins after) and received their orders well before us. I had to go to the bar multiple times to ask the waitress what was going on. She said, your food is next a couple times. . . Only to have MORE late-arriving customers served first. Really bad form, Vista Del Mar. The only reason they're getting two stars instead of zero from me is their food is reliably good, if a bit overpriced. My husband is a big fan of their cubano sandwich. Fish and chips are good, their macaroni and cheese is decadently cheesy and the pasta cooked correctly. I've had fish tacos in the past there -- that was probably my least favorite as the tortillas seemed a bit old and the tacos could use a bolder sauce and more seasoning. This a good place to come when it's basically empty and you can get your food in a reasonable amount of time -- like for an early lunch. But steer clear of busy times or dinner. As the saying goes: diners will try a restaurant for the food, but they come back for the service. We won't be back. read more

Stopped by Vista Del Mar while visiting Eureka. It was right around 5 pm and it was busy with locals--always a good sign. The service was good and the menu was varied. Not a bad little bar! Located on the waterfront in Eureka, this was traditionally a working sailor/fisherman's bar. It had a rough vibe, but they have cleaned things up considerably in the last few years. Now it's a great place to enjoy some drinks, and the kitchen pumps out some decent grub, too. This wasn't just lunch it was also dinner!!!! The bowl of clam chowder was smoky full flavored and had lots of bacon. For $7 the Best Buy on the menu. Fried oysters were huge and cook perfectly. The first time I've ever had to cut them in half to eat them. Service was a little slow ( bartender was running the bar and all the tables) but the wait was worth it. Otherwise another 1/2 star.
