However, went to the Beach/Warner location a couple times recently and really don't want to go back. The employees were polite enough, answered the phone and handled my order. However, they offered very little help when trying to figure out which of the different levels of base paint I wanted to buy. The employee told me which one I should get, but I wanted to know about the different options so I could make an educated decision since we were going to paint our entire interior using the same base paint. My paint color was discontinued so they pulled it up from the old list and agreed to make it for me, which I appreciated. However, it was REALLY REALLY off! WAY off! I understood that I still needed to pay the $60 for the gallon that I was going to discard and didn't raise any issue with that, but not a peep from the employees asking about the color problem. When I tried to get a smaller size of another paint (so I didn't end up with another unused $60 gallon), I was told about 3 times that there's a paint shortage so they don't do sample sizes anymore. Okay....so I need to buy a gallon again to try a color? No - they could do a quart. Whatever-that's fine. When I asked for a certain sheen, was told b/c of paint shortage I couldn't pick my sheen and that it would depend on what they had in stock. Okay...so what sheen do you have in stock? Well, it depends on the paint you pick. Seriously!?! I told you the paint color and sheen I wanted. Can you do it or not? In the end they could do it and quoted me a price. When I showed up I was billed more. Not a big deal - I noticed, mentioned it and they refunded the difference. Just annoying and for whatever reason, this store feels difficult. We are now going to Home Depot where it's incredibly easy (and cheaper) to get paint and straight forward answers and finding a color they offer.

I still have the original Emerald Softer Tan color in my hallway and the paint has not faded at all. I just went to this location in Fountain Valley to darken my Emerald Urithan Enamel Trim cabinets paint which I bought at another Sherwin William a few days earlier. I was very impressed with the staff working here. They were friendly and greeted me with a smile when I walk in even though they seem busy with 2 other customers. I have been to other professionals paint store including other Sherwin William store but was never greeted when I walk in. The manager Francis D. offer to try to change the color for me the best he can if I pick another color or he can darken what I have without additional cost. He did tell me once I change the original mix color I bought previously then it will be very difficult to mix up other batch. I decided to pick out 4 new paint color so my wife can decide this time once and for all so I do not waste my time going back and forth. Francis was very helpful and mix me 4 samples and I got a little discount for having an account there which is free to get. I asked Francis what his recommendation was for sample board to paint it on and he gave me some empty boxes and said I could use those to paint the samples on which I have never thought off. I was going to use a wooden board at home. I definitely would recommend coming to the Sherwin William Fountain Valley Store for the extra ordinary WOW service provided by Francis D. and his team. I used the Purdy Syntox 2 1/2 inch angular which gives it a smooth finish without having to sand with 400 grit. I did not sand in between coats either. I scruffs it with a wire cleaning brush really good then 2 coats of Premier Wall and Wood primer. I waited 24 hours in between coats. I used the Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel in Satin with Sturdy Brown 6097 paint color with 2 coats as well and waited 24 hours between coats. Maybe one day I will paint the top cabinets but for now it will be 1 of 1 designed in 2 tone.

This was by far my worst customer service experience ever. I have never been so disrespected by a…read moremanager. This place is solely for professional painters or contractors. You must already know exactly what you want. I wish I never set foot in this place. Every single person I spoke to was snide and disrespectful. If they even acknowledged me at all. Each time I went in I had a terrible experience. All the way up to the manager ranting and waving his hands at me. So much so that other employees came out to see. What an example right? They do not go in to detail to answer any questions and refuse to give any advice at all. I've gotten more help at Home Depot. I only decided to venture out to Dunn Edwards due to a recommendation. And I wish I hadn't. They can't pull up the paint codes to color match or anything. The man strictly does product. Any questions I asked had a long winded reason why he wasn't able to help in that area. But was mad when I said I felt like he didn't want to help. All while I was blamed for my experience, even though I would think it's their job to do these things. Do not come here if you're a young person looking for help or maybe if you don't look like their usual customer.

They sell Benjamin Moore Paint, stains, good brushes, fancy metallic paints, rollers and all the things you could need as a DIY or professional painter. Since I found them about a month ago, they've been super helpful trying to color match my dining room and give me some good advice in completing my home coloring needs. There will be less Home Depot in my house!
