Ok, so I was lured in by the sign stating they sell frozen take and bake pies. Yes, I am reviewing an Ace Hardware store.... And yes, they did have pies. The flavors all sound great. I also picked up some Iowa beef jerky, again, I know I'm reviewing a hardware store and even the staff acknowledged they carry some unusual items. Super friendly and chatty staff. My friend had her dog with her and the staff were eager to pet the doggy. Great service. I'll totally come back especially when I actually need something hardware related. I'm a longtime (around 40 years!) customer at our local Magnolia and Adams Ace Hardware !!! Dave has an awesome team, many longtime Team Members !!! A big shout out to Dawn, Linda, Barbara, Jake, Nick (aka Minion) !!! (I know I'm missing several more, sorry ) I had an online order to pick up. I headed back to the key making/ order pick up counter in the back corner of the store. No one was at the counter so I pushed the help needed button. Unbeknownst to me he had seen me walk into the store and had remembered he had seen an order from me and had grabbed it and was already bringing it back to me before I had hit the help needed button !!! If you were looking to have a key duplicated, this may not be the right place for you. I brought in a Ford blank key and fob and they refused to cut an outside key. This is unfortunate because they have the ability to do so and it is 100% profit for them, but they are looking to make a profit on their own product so if you don't buy from them you can't even get the labor done. This offers no value to the community and I will keep this in mind the next time I need any type of product they carry. read more

I came in this evening because I had received a notice from the gas company that my gas line needed repair. My neighbors said the job had cost them 1500 dollars. I decided to do it myself and everything was going well until I couldn't get a few of the good pieces apart that were probably decades old and I found out some are special pieces that are from the gas company. I had been to Home Depot and Lowes and they didn't have the part and literally spent an hour watching them try to figure out how to use the pipe cutting and threading machine they have. My gas had been off all day and I was thinking that we can order dinner for my family but at about 5pm I realized my water heater was off too. Wife was not going to be happy, lol. 3 kids all needed baths and showers before school in the morning. I went into Ace with the parts I couldn't get off totally ready to buy another 60 dollar pipe wrench even though I have had 2 neck surgeries because I just didn't know what else to do. I wish I would have gotten his name, but an employee sympathized with my dilemma and said he had a vice in back and instead of making me buy another expensive pipe wrench he helped me get my gas company part off and I was able to get home and get it all back together. I wont forget that! I will remember that Ace is my neighborhood hardware store and not just my smoker grill store that I love to get all my bbq stuff at! I wish I got his name, he deserves recognition. Many years ago I was a manager of a retail store in the mall, I hired hundreds of employees over the years. Its the ones like these that are rare and make the customer a life long fan. Thank you! I may have not bought 1 pipe wrench that hopefully I will never need again, But I will always think now to go to Ace first because those guys know what they are doing and are there to help. This is an American classic, the hardware store, virtually unchanged since my childhood in the 1950's. This location is a particularly fine example. This is my local hardware store. The service is always friendly and helpful and professional. They have everything a person needs for that little project that will make their life complete. The connivence is so wonderful, the value is in not have to hike through the warehouse store. I buy their paint and hardware and sprinkler pieces and nails and bits and oil and sandpaper and buy spray and Necco wafers on the way out. It is a treat every time! read more

Absolute worse customer service ever. I asked for help from three different employees, and they all just pointed. When I asked for help again, I waited for over 5 mins. When I was helped and sent to the cashier, she then pushed me aside after waiting in a very long line and told me to go find the price of the item. Not an employee, when i came back she helped the next person in line before me. When I contacted the manager she was nothing but unhelpful. I came to Ace to ahop in my community instead of the big box stores. And where did it get me, no where in this Ace Handware. So not so here again. Horrible employees!! read more

In regards to screws, this store seems to have it all. There is a whole section with pull out drawers, pictures, and measurements for folks to select the right type of screw for their project. They even have a very small section that is dedicated to gun screws, which unfortunately is only in SAE and not metric. The associates were extremely friendly and showed me how to navigate the section by marking the appropriate parts bag based on the location of the screw. The pricing seems to be fair, and although I was unable to find what I needed, I was impressed with the service and the organization of the store that I certainly could recommend this location for others that need to visit a hardware store. read more

I walked in to buy 4 boxes of lights that their store website said were available for in-store or curb side pick up in 15 minutes. I was told by a sales associate (maybe he was the manager?) they were packed away in totes. I told him they were available online, so should I order them online? He said yes, because they're in totes packed away and we need time to get them out. I placed my order online while I was in the store, then left because he told me when we spoke, they would need time to fill the order. Instead of making any attempt to fill the order or change the delivery date, the store just cancelled the order. I guess an order for $200 worth of lights is not worth the trouble of unpacking totes or having a conversation. If that is the case, why say the items (9 boxes) are available on your website for in store pick up in 15 minutes? Horrible customer service!!! I would not recommend that anyone orders anything online for in store pick up in 15 minutes, at this location. Furthermore, just because their website says it's in stock, does not mean it's available to walk in and purchase either. Home depot is way more reliable. read more

I got some paint on a camera bag of mine and went in to find a solution that would take it off safely without ruining the bag. I asked a staff person Jake for his help. I felt he went above and beyond to make sure I bought the right product. He took his time and reached it on his phone. I know many business owners that have so much trouble finding good help. I'd give them 50 stars if I could. I was greeted sweetly by a sweet girl when I walked in and I was helped even though the store was busy. This sweetie was busy the whole time and still greeting people and trying to get them help. I wish I got her name. So, I'm super dumb and need to get a BBQ for my husband's bday this week. I found one online on sale but it was sold-out by the time I got to the store. They are discontinuing the model. SOOOO, no problem, I'm dumb and waited too long. My fault. Nope. George found me one at another location. Last one. Bringing it to me Saturday. They went above and beyond because that BBQ would easily sell at the other location. George was such a pleasure to work with and, as I said, he went above and beyond for me. He also brought in his manager Hazel to help out who was lovely and helpful as well. I have a Home Depot closer to me but I will never go there again. This is my new store. It was cheaper and helpful and gave a family vibe that you don't get other places. I needed a wingnut to repair my brand new walker. Jacob went way way way over and above in finding exactly the right part. The walker was already tweaked and it took a lot of maneuvering on his part, but Jacob persisted and turned the thing upside down and every which way, using the tools I had brought with me, until he succeeded! I love ACE's because they seem to carry such a wide variety of stuff. Camping gear, BBQ supplies, etc...Went to one once that sold chickens. Anyways, this one had amazing customer service. What a great store! Probably the largest Ace I've been in and it was packed. Found what I wanted, staff answered my questions and concerns. I was just in the Ace Hardware on Adams! I am setting up a new residences, and I wanted to meander and shop get ideas and look for things I had on my mind. I was followed around the store by every associate that was on the floor I would go around the corner and there would be one and they were talking on their mics and it was very uncomfortable. I was so uncomfortable that I just went to the checkout without purchasing everything that I had on my list. I am now sitting in the Home Depot parking lot seriously considering taking everything back to Ace and getting a refund!! I spent 253.00 dollars!! This place is competitive price wise with the bigger chain stores, but even if sometimes something costs a few bucks more, I like coming here. You can't beat the customer service here; Ace isn't too big for its britches. I feel like I'm in a mom and pop shop in Ace. I know it's not, but I don't know of any in this area anymore. I have been coming here for a few years, mainly due to the proximity to Smart and Final across the street. I choose where to shop based on a business' respect for me and my time. Well, I went in today and found out that they closed their restroom to customers "due to Covid". That stopped me cold...there is no way that I will spend my hard earned money on a business that has chosen the pandemic as an excuse to lock the restroom. They told me to go to Zubie's next door, I'm sure Zubie's wouldn't appreciate that, although I'd gladly spend money at Zubie's if they respected me and my cash enough to keep their restroom open. I told them I was going to spend my money at Home Depot, which I will do moving forward. As much as I try to support local owned businesses, this will not be one of them. read more
