Take your test here if you want to be talked to like you're 2 years old and made to feel like the dumbest person on the planet. The front desk worker is unbelievably rude. The lady who did the test was also unbelievably rude and constantly told me I wasn't doing things that I was CLEARLY doing, things as simple as turning a blinker on. The owner is in complete denial about their staff and will never correct their behavior as I can see by some of their replies here, what a total joke. read more

Don't let the polished website mislead you. Unfortunately, my experience did not reflect the professionalism the business portrays. I was genuinely surprised by the level of rudeness, lack of courtesy and conduct displayed by the front desk staff/instructor, who is somehow entrusted with teaching teenagers. Individuals in customer-facing and educational roles should demonstrate professionalism, respect, and understanding. My child arrived only a few minutes late due to unexpected traffic. Rather than handling the situation discreetly, the instructor interrupted the class to publicly announce that my child was late and would not be allowed to participate. The instructor then locked the classroom door, leaving my child embarrassed and excluded. This was an incredibly disappointing experience and not the level of professionalism or compassion I expected for something I paid for. I would encourage the organization to reevaluate how staff interact with students and families, as courtesy and professionalism should be fundamental to any educational environment. read more

I deeply regret ignoring the negative reviews. Unprofessionalism and rudeness are major issues here, specifically with the short, heavyset woman who works the reception desk and also teaches.My first warning sign was her poor attitude when I called for information, but we signed up anyway. During the first two days of class, my daughter came home sharing multiple instances of how poorly this instructor spoke to the students. We overlooked it, but the final straw happened when my daughter arrived just two minutes late for a three-hour class. I was driving her from my office in Plano alongside two foster toddlers, making us slightly delayed. Instead of being understanding, this staff member rudely told my daughter she could leave and had to make up the class another day.Someone with a toxic attitude every single day should not be working in a customer-facing role, let alone teaching teenagers. This facility is a joke. I strongly encourage anyone looking for a driving school to find another business or teach your teens yourself. read more

Everything could be improved. Paying $450 for seven hours of driving time was stupid on my part; but we thought it would be beneficial for our daughter. Part of what I read made me think it was 30 hours, but I'll take the blame there. The instructors were rude to my daughter. She's not overly sensitive so when she came home saying that they were telling her that she's a terrible driver and should not be on the road, I knew it was bad. She had a very difficult time learning to drive. I have four children And I could tell that she struggled with driving. So we spent a lot of time with her in parking lots. But during her second lesson for someone to tell her she's terrible isn't helping. She eventually has to learn how to do this and that's what training is for. When we went to take the driver's test, all the moms sitting in there were talking about how rude they were so it was not just us. These kids going in to take their test should not feel attacked. It makes them all more anxious during an already anxious moment. I saw one review said something about they played back the video and the recordings, so I took pictures to show there are no cameras anywhere in the waiting room. If they have a hidden mic somewhere, that is sketchy. read more

I would give it zero stars if I could.The women who work in there are incredibly rude and they messed up the process for my daughter getting her license. Here's what happened (Sam, go ahead and look into this and then respond defensively like you do to every other bad review lol) My daughter took her road test here and passed. They offered the option to pay the $40 processing fee to file the paperwork with DPS - sweet. We were told it takes 5 business days. Awesome we can wait. That was Feb 11th. On Friday, Feb 20th on the 6th business day I called them to make sure we weren't missing anything and she said we would have been notified and that "that's why we say ABOUT 5 business days" (Sam, go ahead and check that audio recording since you reference audio and video in your responses) - my daughter called on Tuesday Feb 24 since there was still nothing in the portal. Today (on the 10th business day) I went to the DPS office and got to speak with someone who looked up her information. Remember when I was told on the 20th everything was fine and "it takes ABOUT 5 business days - this is the DPS we are talking about, remember" - well turns out when they turned in the paperwork on the 13th it was rejected - then they submitted it again on the 19th and it was rejected again (so my call wasn't until it had been rejected twice and resubmitted but they failed to mention that). It was finally accepted on Feb 21st and we are waiting for her license to be there any day now. Lamesha and the Canyon Falls DPS was an angel and said I can come back and talk with her if there are any more problems. Imagine a DPS worker being much nicer than yall! Thank the Lord for her- she showed me the screen where I could see the process and how yall screwed up. I'll go ahead and accept that apology even though you won't give me one and in the meantime all my friends have teenagers and will hear about this and tell their friends and you'll be getting a bad review from me on every platform I can find. There are more cons then pros to the VRDS. I registered my daughter in July to complete her training and get her license. The teachers she had during the 7 hours of supervised driving and observation were great, she told me she enjoyed her training and the teachers and gained a better sense of driving. When I first registered her, we walked into the office and were greeted by a blonde lady who treated us incredibly rudely. She was dismissive and hostile. We tried inquiring about the documents that we needed to bring in order to get registered, and she was rude and impudent in telling us what we needed to bring, instead of calmly informing us. A couple months later when I registered her to take her driver's test, we had that same blonde lady who had that obtrusive behavior monitor her for her test. While I was filling out some papers, I was unsure where to sign on a particular sheet since there were two blanks for the parent/guardian, and when I asked her where to sign, she gave me a rude look and unmannerly said "You sign on the line", as if I was foolish to even be asking a question. When I proceeded to show it back to her, it turned out that she ended up telling me to sign on the wrong line, and dismissively showed me a different place to sign instead of owning up to her mistake. My daughter also told me that during the test, she had a very impertinent tone and even criticized her for the parking spot she chose when they were coming back to the school, when her directions were simply to "park in front of the school". This behavior is absolutely disrespectful, especially since this is a stressful test that teens are anxious for. We were also told that we could get the license on the same day as her test, but the lady refused us because it was too close to her 18th birthday. Really wish we could've known that sooner (since it wasn't mentioned to us during her sessions or on the website). Overall, this lady's treatment of us was horrible, arrogant, ingracious, and disgusting, we were so relieved to walk out and never come back. I would give this school one star, or better yet zero, but I am giving it two stars for the two gracious teachers, (not including the blonde lady) Mr. Ward and Mr. Russell, for treating my daughter with patience and kindness, and easing her nerves about driving. However, I would not recommend this school at all. Please take your money somewhere else to a school that actually respects the kids. Overall a horrible experience for me and my kid. Anytime you have a question or concerns you are met with hostile from the driving instructor ( YES, THE BLONDE LADY EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT), trying to humiliate and intimidate the parents. I can only imagine how the students feel. Also, students have to get 7 observation hours in with an agent and the remainder are parent taught. However, this is where it goes down hill really fast. They rarely have open driving sessions, when they do they are usually during school hours, and you have a time limit on getting these done! My adult husband was going to take the driving test and we paid $75 when we get there she says he needed a permit, it did not say anythino on their website that an adult needs a permit. he had all his paperwork, fee from DMV, his written test and he watcuesthe video. we walked in and she denied us immediay, very rude. she was not gonna give us a refund. it was not like we where taking anyones place since it was empty on a Thursday at 1. we even arrived an hour earlier. so beware! read more

Go ANYWHERE but here for your children's driver's ed or road test. If I could give zero stars I would. Our entire experience of taking the road test and dealing with paperwork issues after the fact (the issues were my fault not theirs and I apologized for that) was a nightmare. I am not a confrontational person and I have never been spoken to in such a rude, condescending, actually hostile manner. The behavior was irrational and unprofessional, even with me apologizing for having to come back and ask for assistance with the paperwork I messed up. These people must truly hate their jobs. Very unhelpful and entitled. These places are a dime a dozen and I would strongly encourage you to consider a different option. I can't imagine any of them actually teaching children how to drive in a healthy environment. Run, don't walk from this place. 0/10 read more

I called to ask a question because I've never taken a test through a driving school.. I asked if I had to get my learners permit renewed in order to take the test there. A lady quite literally said 'Yes. You have to renew it.' With the most attitude and rude tone, then hung up in my face. Didn't even give me the chance to say I'm 18, or explain my situation. And I can't get a refund, wasted $75 of my hard earned graduation money for NOTHING. read more

Horrible experience. staff made my daughter cry within 1 min of entering the office To test. we didn't have a front plate so we couldn't use our car as planned. They didn't tell us that beforehand. they said it was in the website. we had to pay $50 to drive their car or we forfeited our whole payment. They were very rude to another lady who was trying to schedule. I cannot recommend. Testing at the DMV would have been better. read more

I will edit and state that they did just return my call with an extension and a little grace on our time. I appreciate that the owner was able to see reason and work with us. I would not recommend this school for anyone at this time. The employee that I have dealt with was more concerned about pointing out all my 2 teens faults than actually helping me address COVID related issues. The staff member continuously argued with me and pointed out areas where I was not correct according to her. She was way more concerned with being right than actually addressing my concerns. I asked to speak with the owner to remedy the situation and she informed me I would not be hearing from the owner. She would inform me of what they said. Rude management that acts like she is doing you a favor, and you are inconveniencing her when you are paying hundreds of dollars. If you invest in finding a different driving school, you will most likely have a better experience. I've never seen someone in management come with such a nasty, uncalled-for attitude. I would go on but it doesn't matter, because the owner will justify any wrongdoing instead of correcting or even apologizing, so nothing will ever change sadly. Not very educational. I feel like I spent most of my time sitting there half driving and the other half I do not know what was happening because the education of this place is based solely on the teenagers, not the idea of possible adults coming through here. It didn't help my instructor was not very informative, more like running down on the day and wanted to get it done, if I were to sum it up. Sent an email to the school and I do not even want a reply back on this review or the email. But my advice to people is: Find another school ~ save your $95 for something else. Front desk was friendly and explained everything I needed to know and the other lady that took me on the road was direct but respectful when giving directions on what to do. Very pleased. I would not recommend this school. I had a horrific experience with them. The office staff are rude and unprofessional. Drive times are nearly impossible to obtain and one of the driving instructors yelled at my daughter, while a second one demanded she get out of the car and left her. I told them she wouldn't be back. They never addressed any of the problems, only wanted to prove me wrong rather than fix the problems. The company does not care about the safety of their students nor about the parents who pay for this service. In response to the poor reply from the owner. If you are correct in what you say then I guess I'm upset with your company for no reason at all. I find your lack of ownership in the problems of your business ridiculous. You never offered to fix the problem, only try to prove the customer wrong at every turn. I too have all the emails and notations of phone calls that were in fact answered. I wanted to leave zero stars but didn't have that option. Brenda was the person conducting the driving tests today. She spent what felt like an eternity in the car after the test (even though in reality it was probably five minutes) listing every minute detail of what was done wrong during the test! Zero, zip, nothing said about anything done right ...and only mentioned passing the test while approaching the door to re-enter the bldg. Tears and humiliation were the emotions she elicited! What a memory for years to come! The "owner" who responds to these posts needs to take to heart the repeated pattern of complaints instead of spewing the same tired excuses that are somehow intended to make this abusive behavior sound ok! After so many bad reviews and word of mouth spreading the same complaints around the community, I'm surprised this place is still in business. Anyone considering this driving school needs to immediately look into different options. If you want to pay money to be berated and humiliated on your or your child's driving test, go for it! Otherwise, don't give this place your thoughts much less your money! Hassles at the DMV will be worth the time and effort as opposed to doing anything involving Vista Ridge Driving School! I'm not usually one to leave a bad review but I am so unhappy with our experience at this driving school. My daughter took her driving test there this week with Brenda and cried for 2 hours after her test. I could tell the attitude of this lady the second she walked in the door...late. Not friendly AT ALL...and was incredibly rude to my daughter the entire time she was in the car. Now tell me that is a good combination for a young person taking one of the most stressful tests of their young life. And the manager...defended her 100%. Would NOT recommend this place. I had no problem at all with my driving instructor he was kind and patient and felt comfortable driving with him and he gave me great feed back and helped me prepare for my test. The person I have a problem with is Ashely. She was my test administrator. Yes, I did fail my test, and understand why she failed me, but there is a way to fail a teenager without sending her home crying. There is a way to fail a teenager without shattering her self esteem. My sister took a driving test with Vista Ridge driving school on July 18, 22, at 2:20 pm. She doesn't speak English very well. So, I asked the instructor (I was told her name was McKenzie, but I can't find her license number or any other information. The driving school is avoiding giving away any information on this lady), a blond lady in her 60s, if she could speak to her slowly. Her reply was, "I speak only English and will talk to her however I talk to her." At that moment, I knew my sister would fail the test, although she has a driving license from another country and has been driving for more than 35 years. My sister told me the instructor was screaming at her the entire time she was driving. I received a middle finger when I mentioned how rude she was towards my sister and me. Her action was probably captured in their cameras. I spent a total of $150 due to rescheduling issues at the school and felt like I'd been robbed. I'll complain about them to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations. read more

My child went to this school at age 15 for the classroom, primarily. He finished the classroom phase which was pretty routine. He got the certificate he needed and we went to DPS and got his learner's permit. The timing on all this was 000June of this year when everyone was home with Covid concerns. He was ready to start driving with the school and we scheduled the first 3 sessions with no problem because school was not in session. Our virtual school started on August 19th, so after that we could not schedule any sessions because he had to be online. I was frustrated and called the school to ask if they ever had any sessions other than 12-2, 2-4, 4-6 and sometimes 6-8 or weekends. I told her that from 12-4 he was tied up with school and could not use those times. I also understood that they had a backlog for driving because of the virus. Fortunately, they took it upon themselves to call me with a couple of short notice sessions that helped out from 4-6 on a Friday that we could make. They also called with an 8-10 on a Sunday, which helped. That was the only two they called with. I scheduled one on Labor Day (no school). Here's where we part ways - I had him scheduled for Tue at 6-8pm. The Monday before he was scheduled to have all four wisdom teeth removed. We were waiting all day to see if he might be able to drive the next day at 6pm. We finally decided that we would cancel because he was not going to school and may or may not be able to drive. I cancelled the appt right at or about 6pm on Monday. It may have been a couple minutes past, I really don't know. They charged me a $50 fee for not cancelling 24 hours in advance. I called and found out that they were going to hold me to the fee even though we were talking about minutes. Also, I was told that I have been "screaming" at them since the start (not true) about not being able to schedule. They "went out of their way to accomodate" me by calling me on short notice times. I thought that was standard procedure (it should be). They said that they did all of his scheduling, which is not true. I scheduled 4 times out of 6. Their customer service is herrendous. Apparently, if you question them about anything, they don't help you out. I have one more hour to do with them and was planning on doing the driving test with them next year. Don't know about that at this point. I even sent an email to them explaining what was happening when I cancelled and tried to call but got VM. I would not recommend this school to anyone because of this. I tried to give a complete picture without going on forever, but this will have to do. Actually, there was a problem with one instructor, but that is for another time. It was not that serious or consequential. read more

Both of my sons took their driver's test at Vista Ridge. I am extremely disappointed with the evaluator. She came in late, does not apologize and proceeds to not introduce herself and presents herself as extremely rude. She is condescending and does not make a new driver feel comfortable. Both of my sons passed but the attitude of this evaluator is unacceptable. My advice is HIRE SOMEONE NEW! This lady obviously detests her job. read more

Wow, look at those other reviews. I'm glad I didn't rely on them when looking for a place to send my daughter. If this is the first time you have a 16 yr old, then we are in the same boat. I knew I wanted to go to a commercial driving school for several reasons. What Vista Ridge does: instils in your child how freaking serious the privilege of driving is. Considering the fact that motor vehicles are the LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH for teenagers (see CDC website) I really appreciate that VRDS not only spends hours of class time showing what REAL wrecks look like but also has a hard driving test to pass. My daughter FAILED the first time. When she came home she was devastated, oh well! Get back out there baby girl because driving in the city is dangerous! One week later she passed with flying colors, 100% more confident and ready for the responsibility. One thing to note, Vista Ridge cannot completely teach your kids everything...no one can. Just like in school and real life it will take hours of calm parenting. My advice, start early!! Do not wait until they are 15 before putting them behind a wheel. Find a huge empty parking lot, we have started taking our 13yr old son to the Convergence building in Lewisville (3040 and Meadowglen Dr) and let him drive a 4 cylinder on idle for 30 min. Hang in there parents, this time in their lives is so pivotal, let the professionals help you. Good Luck, you are going to need it. read more

The teacher never addressed her self. All I can say is that she is very appalling. This lady walks in the room about 15 minutes after class has started. She just makes you get clipboards, old chewed up pencils w/o erasers, and the Texas drivers ed book( which most of them don't have the cover). You usually get 5 sheets of paper to do. Which is quite difficult to do when you don't have a desk. All you have is the chair you are sitting on. And this lady will keep nagging that you mustn't lean on your chair because they will break and we are going to pay for it. After that she leaves the "class room" and goes to her office and chats away with this older man that word there, and another female. I would never recommend anyone to attend this drivers ed course. I would give this Zero Stars if it was an option. read more

I am not a complainer, but this driving school is horrible. Their customer service is terrible. One of the ladies on the phone made up things that weren't even true about my situation, I have no idea why she would invent stories. They love to tack on additional fees. I wish I would have read the reviews before I started with this school. I will definitely not use them again for my younger children. read more

Dear Sam S. of Vista Ridge Driving School, First of all, it is highly unprofessional to list names of people, whether accurate or not, on a publicly viewable review. And to list what issues a student may or may not have had during their test is also unprofessional. I would be curious to see if DPS permits the posting of test results on social media for all to see. A review is based on a person's experience with a given establishment, it is not personal. Yet you have appeared to make it personal judging by both your response and repeated phone calls, which I assume were to bully someone who paid good money for your "Test". You have never addressed the fact that stop signs on private property are not legal stop signs, nor some of the other issues raised. Just the same blanket statement that you have made to other people who gave your business unfavorable reviews. Maybe you should look at the DPS guidelines a little closer, be a little more professional, and not try to bully your clients/customers. And please, no more phone calls. They are unwanted. read more

Would never recommend this driving school to anyone. My daughter took her driving test and did not pass (not disputing or taking issue with that). Instructor gave my daughter some instructions and she told him she didn't understand what he was asking. His response was "What are you, clueless?". He continued to be rude and disrespectful to her. My husband (who had taken my daughter) called the center afterwards to speak to someone and left a message. No return call. I have emailed them as well and hope that they remind the instructor that even 16 year olds deserve to be spoken to respectfully. My daughter is not an emotional kid, but was visibly upset by the treatment from this adult. Unacceptable. We will gladly pay a full price fee to another place that will treat their customers respectfully. read more

Would give a zero if that was possible! We show up for an appointment in a newly purchased vehicle. Was told you can not test in it because of the buyers tag. Given the option to pay more to drive their car, or not test. Oh, no mention that their car was a stick shift or question if the youngster knows how to drive one. No refund and out $125.00. One star is too much. Any type of conversation will not take place via face to face or even a phone call. Only communicate via email. During this pandemic most of the DMV were closed and then when re-opened however due to backlog and decreases in availability many had to drive 100's of miles to less populated areas to get our kids driving their permits. It is difficult to get drive times, they are made available weekly and gone within 2 minute. They are over subscribed and if your child does not get drive times is within 6 months of permit you have to pay $75 to extend or start over. Basically this business does not care nor do they take into consideration COVID or the fact they are over subscribed. They tell you they offered other times directly which they did, but in the middle of the day when our kids are in schoolmaster not available. Beware, FYI they won't work with you but advertising to other schools that they can help them with drive times? WOW read more

I'm not sure we would go through this school again. We just did the driving school and the drivers test with vista ridge. We did online classes. My child learned enough to pass their test. It was hard to catch an open class when it would randomly open up for drive times. Didn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to the dates they picked to open drive times. Once we got going, it got easier, maybe it was the time of year. The kicker was the mistake they made on our DMV paper work. It's a total pain when you get your dmv appt, get there, wait, finally get called to get the paper work and the school put the wrong coding on the paper work. Then you have to drive back, they aren't there even when the website says open, you go home wait for them to call after you leave a message, then drive back to the drive school to get the corrected paper work and have to go back to the DMV, wait in line again... what a pain. If you go, DOUBLE CHECK their paper work to make sure all is done correctly. It really turned what should have been a fun and exciting day into a long and tedious day. read more
