There were plenty of color choices and she does not charge extra for a French. But if it's your first time, she charges extra to remove old gel. (Other salons do this too). The nail technician was very sweet but the results were not. I got a gel manicure in french and after two days they are chipping. It is definitely because she used regular manicure to draw the white line instead of using a white gel color. Usually gel lasts for more than two weeks on my nails so i am disappointed these lasted a day. read more

I got a groupon for four manicures (basic or french) for only $25... I was skeptical because the prior few places I visited for services with a groupon treated me very poorly with their service - people tend to take less care of you if you come with a groupon sometimes figuring youre just there for a deal and not attempting to make you a permanent customer. But not here!! The owner did a great job with my manicure, she even did my ring fingers different colors and with glitter for no extra charge. She also did my eyebrows for $9 and she did an excellent job I didnt get burned (my skin can be sensitive sometimes and I ask the waxers at other places to blow on the wax and they will the first time and then forget but she did every time!) and she made sure I liked them and I hear theres sometimes a groupon for waxing as well. I have since been back for another manicure with the same great results (and again glitter and different colors on the ring fingers for no extra charge) I cant wait to go back for my next two. She also has lots of decorative add ons that are popular right now like flowers/sparkles/shapes/stars/etc I think she said its only a $2 charge for those. She has a great color selection as well I can never choose just one (hence the different ring fingers each time). My only complaint is that she doesnt have a nail dryer with the light and I feel like manicures last longer if I sit under the light for a few cycles but she makes sure to do a great job and be very thorough with the topcoat and the manicure lasts pretty well even without the light dryer. The owner is super friendly and it isnt the awkward silence you often experience at salons (where the manicurists speak english). Both times I went there I left with a referral for something else that came up through our chatting like a restaurant or brazilian waxing (she doesnt do that there) I plan to make an appointment for a haircut and coloring soon as well - I will definitely write another review after that to comment about the hair styling. read more

I've been to many barbers throughout the years and was tired of always waiting or having to come back b/c they were always busy. A friend highly recommended going here b/c Michelle (aka Mickie) is excellent in everything that she does. I was very reluctant at first b/c I never went to a "salon." Let me tell you....I'm never getting my hair cut by anyone besides Michelle. She took my appointment and was very accommodating to when I could come for my hair cut. I came here by accident on Yelp and I am seeing third party reviews that are pretty negative a something I find to be false at this salon, so I needed to speak up. First, for the forever a bridesmaid - if you weren't there during the contract signing, your opinion is invalidated. You can only speak about your experience. Anything else, is null because you weren't there. Second, for the waxer, any place you go to will miss small little hairs. If you want all of your hair removed go thread it. That's the only way the little hairs will be removed. Now, I have been going to Mickie for some time now. Ever since she made some lollipops for my nephews baby shower. She is funny, sweet and engaging. And she knows her stuff. I was going to a salon a few miles down from her and hadn't been happy at the quality of the work with my color and the fact that I was spending hours upon hours there getting my hair done. So one of my girlfriend's recommended Mickie. Now I'm very particular with who touches my hair. There are some crappy stylists out there. She is not one of them. I had no problem with how she did my hair. Her rates were fair, the color was perfect AND I didn't spend half a year there. I also know four other people that go there which I didn't know before. Gel manicure. She asked that I choose my color from a plastic nail wheel with painted nails. I was thrilled with their options for colors. I picked my colors (I chose two) and was happy. She started the process. At first she seemed nice and engaged in some conversation with me. Some classic who, what, when, where etc. I thought that was nice. Then she and her assistant start babbling about mundane and juvenile things. Their conversation got to a point of vulgarity that was uncomfortable for me. I attempted many times to steer the conversation in a different way, but it was crude, regardless. The gel process was tedious and she seemed like she knew what she was doing. However, I hate my nails. The colors came out lighter than they looked on the fake nails and I've been calling my nails "Lisa Frank" nail color since. The fact of the matter is, she didn't go all the way down on my nail so when I left, it looked like I had already been a week of growth in. Two stars because it was tedious work. But only two stars because as it stands a week later, they have peeled off. Absolutely not satisfied. I guess you get what you pay for! read more

I recommended her to my mom who not only got her manicure done there, but also a haircut and color. Mickey did a fantastic job. Got the groupon for eyebrow waxing. Told Nikki not to this my eyebrows, only clean then up. She was very nice, but messed up my eyebrows. They were thinned and I am very upset. Also, they weren't completely cleaned, I still had to clean the bottom part on the inside end, which she left thick. Nice place. Took me in last minute and did a good job overall. The girl that they had wash my hair left some dye in it after washing so they had to wash it again but it wasn't a big deal. The haircut was quick and the chatting wasn't annoying but casual and friendly. She had her daughters in the salon but they're nice kids a little loud but kids in general are loud. I have to say when I first came here it was a huge step for me, but the best step I have ever made for my hair! I had been going to the same person for years and getting the same hairstyle never really loving it, but too scared to go anywhere else. I came to Visual Elegance a few months ago when I needed a nice hairstyle for a wedding I was attending and my normal hair girl was on vacation. Mickie gave me these amazing curls that lasted the whole wedding and I've never seen that happen with my hair! I decided to come back to her for my haircut and highlights. A couple of months ago I was looking for a hair stylist that would save my hair! I was looking for local hair salons and I came across Mickie's! The last lady I went to had me looking yellow, not just any yellow. Banana yellow. I mean even close to an orange. Mickie saved my hair, it was previously damaged to bits! As soon as I came in she was so attentive and payed attention and listened to all of my concerns and questions. She was able to take my black roots and yellow orange hair to a uniform light ash blonde color! She makes miracles happen!!! FINALLY I found someone who listens, comprehends and is capable of doing what you want. I found Micky with a Groupon for nails. I don't know what she does but her regular manicures last longer than anyone's else's. I have had gel manicures from others which chipped faster than her. Maybe she uses better quality and doesn't thin her polish out. I love being a (not natural) red head I Had a botched hair coloring from another place in Bloomfield (now thankfully out of business) so I decided to see if Mickey could help. She did exactly what I wanted and I am now back to a beautiful shade of red for me. The color is perfect for me and she added something for shine as well, since the last colorist over processed me badly. I asked Micky for a cut too,since I needed to get rid of the damage . I wanted 2 inches off. Wnen she was done ,the color , cut and blow out were fabulous. I got so many compliments that night from all my friends and I am very very pleased.
