While almost anyone can take your whole blood donation, the red blood cell donation is a little trickier with the needle placement in the vein; for that, I only go with either Maria or Anna.

In labor and delivery, the nurse told us that the facility was recently updated. All the medical equipment was new, and the fetal monitor they used was even wireless. The only slight hiccup was that there was nearly no room in postpartum care. Fortunately, we got the last room in the overflow floor. Having giving birth in another state, I was extremely impressed by how updated everything was in the overflow room - the shower was brand new, and the bed could be operated to lengthen or sit at various angles. For pain management, I was a little surprised that their policy is to give ibuprofen only upon request. At the previous hospital I was at, they had a regimen switching between Tylenol and ibuprofen. Parking was probably the most difficult part. The main parking lot is a little far, and you have to use a different entrance if you're coming in the evening (rather than the main entrance of the women's hospital). However, when we left, my partner was able to temporarily park in the rotunda to make the commute a little shorter.

I got so lost just trying to park and find a level to cross over to the hospital entrance. Make sure you go to ground level and make your way over to the entrance. Nurses and doctors are great. Also there's a hallway connecting the main hospital to the cancer center so you don't have to leave the parking lot to go there. Part of the maze that's not as bad. Parking is $4 on the Kellogg side for up to 6hrs the. It jumps to $20! If you're on the Kellogg side, you can get a parking sticker which reduces it back to $4. On the hospital side I don't think you can get a sticker so we'll be paying $20! If you're in the Evanston area then this is a good hospital option. If not, it's not worth driving from far away.

Someone feckless named Kevin twice answered my call and made it appear that he was speaking with a "patient coordinator" and upon my second call claimed that someone was sending the questionnaire, which they never did. Fortunately their lack of attention made me do more digging and I did find a provider who not only made an appointment right away, but forwarded an email for me to get set up in the online portal. As for this doctor and this office? Still waiting on that questionnaire...I actually called them back to tell them don't bother. This time a woman answered, claiming she had "no control" over the patient coordinators and would "pass along" my concerns. Won't hold my breath waiting for that to happen. But it's a shame that Lauren Streicher is always all over TV promoting this center and her doctors as a refuge for women who need their help. Yet it's nothing but flashy marketing. You're creating roadblocks for women more than you're helping. Deeply disappointing. Truly did not expect to have an experience like this. But you've all now been warned.

I came to NorthShore with my husband because this is supposed to be one of the best. We got to the emergency department before the rush, well before 8 am, and we were able to get a room in the back rather quickly. We were quickly greeted by the floor doctor and my husband was able to give the necessary bloodwork. But after that they went downhill. We had to ring the staff button multiple times before someone came to see what we needed. The response from the people that came into the room quickly became your nurse will address your issue when she comes into the room. Unfortunately the nurse assigned to my husband had the worst attitude and was so flustered. I understood it had become randomly busy but the nurse was very short with me when I asked a simple question. I don't think I'll ever recommend making the drive to this "elite" hospital when I've been treated better at the neighborhood hospitals that may not be so highly ranked.

Whatever negative reviews you see on him I don't believe. He is the ONLY doctor I've seen who takes the time, gives the patients many many tests to make sure he rules out certain diseases and causes and explains things thoroughly. I have seen plenty of doctors in my life time including Northwestern and he beats them all. There is no comparison. He does refer his patients to specialists if need be and they are all good referrals, not as caring as him though. He has a "human touch" which a lot of doctors lack. I probably in my lifetime have been to 30 doctors and there is no comparison. Dr. Geohas does research as well and this enhances his practice. He is brilliant and studies all the time about the newest methods and medicines. You will be lucky to have a doctor like Dr. Geohas. My whole family went to him but because of location some had to switch to closer locations.
