Her room is impeccable and comfortable. The staff is friendly, protective of their residents, and professional. Other residents are friendly and welcoming. The facility is well maintained, and attractive. The library is well stocked with books for every kind of reader. The chapel is lovely, too. Before CoVid, we dined together in the dining room on the second floor. The attendants were gracious and efficient. The food was very good - not highly seasoned, so delicate stomachs good eat heartily. The menu was varied, with regular items, too. During our meals, someone would get on the microphone with celebratory messages, upcoming events, and news about the community. During the first 8 months of CoVid, I did not see Millie. We talked frequently on the phone. She did not like the confinement, but praised the staff for their handling of meals and how everything was kept clean & safe. When visitors were finally permitted, in November, I came to see her - temperature checked, mask on and 6 feet apart for 20-30 minutes. Now, after both of us have been vaccinated, and a year later, we were able to visit outside, still masked, but sitting close to each other. After our visit, we exchanged farewell hugs. This is a beautiful place to live and visit. I'm always impressed with how clean and well maintained it looks when I drive up, and how lovely it is inside, too. Now he's at Windsor Woods and they're taking good care of them and they're giving him the physical therapy that he needs so he'll be able to go home. The nurses are nice so is the rest of the staff. They even let people go outside that are patient and have a cigarette if they'd like to. I mean a lot of these people are very elderly and if they decide they'd like to smoke, then let them. Thankfully the hospital and Mom's insurance chose Solaria. Amazingly, her first CNA remembered Mom from a broken hip stay 2 years ago... and she made sure Mom was as comfortable as possible. Healing is so hard at that age. Hearing and understanding while on pain meds is frustrating. But the staff was patient and kind to Mom.. and me, as I was there, in their way, every day for 2 months. Even just walking in the door of the ReHab wing, the smiling and warm greeting from the front desk folks always made me feel welcome. The social services team was available to answer any questions and fiercely advocated for us. From the tenacious and caring speech therapist who helped Mom with an eating problem, to the PT team who inspired and encouraged her... to the amazing nurses and CNAs who have become like family... we feel blessed to have felt loved along the way to recovery. The activities manager finally convinced Mom to participate (THANK YOU!!!) and the kitchen staff even made special efforts to help get Mom eating. No place is perfect when all you want is to be back in your beloved home. But the GOOD PEOPLE here have made this uncomfortable journey better for us and we HIGHLY recommend Solaris if you need a rehab facility for your loved one.
