Extremely pleased with the care I received at San Marcos Vitalogy. I was seen in due to a spot on my arm that appeared and continued to grow over a two week period. Dr. Sayed with her staff performed a biopsy, she told me she was pretty sure it was a Squamous Cell but we wouldn't be sure until the results were back. They explained this would take seven to ten days. On the tenth day the office called me to confirm Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Less than one week later (today) Dr. Otchere removed growth and has sent it in to make sure it has all been removed. I arrived 15 minutes ahead of my appointment time as requested (10.00 am for 10.15am apt). 6-7 people arrived while I sat in the lobby. ALL of them were called and fully serviced ahead of me, some with stated appointment 15-30 minutes after mine. I confronted the receptionist on 2 occasions - 10.30 and again at 10.50 and was told each time I would be next. At 11.00am I got up and cancelled my appointment only to be told I was not there. What a joke. I was 10 feet in front of the receptionist for the full 60 minutes. Absolutely terrible experience and a poorly run office with zero customer service skills. Receptionist was pleasant but did not seem able to influence anybody. read more

If you're applying there, make sure you have a thick skin. The doctors have to depend on you for great customer service but lack customer service. I'm educated with several years of experience and I've never experienced this type of racism and to be ostracized in my entire life. I used to love this place when I went a few years back. This was the worst appointment I've ever had with any doctors office. The PA literally saw us for a minute at most. Treatment protocol was not explained at all whatsoever. I had to do my own research when I got home. My son was in so much pain we had to cancel birthday plans. Which if I had been aware of what would happen with the treatment that she chose to do without talking to me first I would not have consented. Didn't even fill the prescription and put the wrong name on the letter for the school. Sad read more

I do my best to not leave negative reviews but if I could give this place zero stars I would and I hope to save someone else the aggravation! This was our 5th appointment ( Over the last 2 years ) and it was ridiculous. The staff is curt, rude to other patients and ALWAYS late. Waited 40 minutes for our appointment, Dr walked in and was done within 2 mins. (MAX), and did not look at the area of where they just did the biopsy on 2 weeks ago ( which we still have zero answers to ). They are definitely in it for the money. They triple booked our appointment. ( Meaning 3 people were scheduled at same time with same doctor. ). Would not recommend to anyone. I do not want anything else from this "business". read more

This is a follow up to my review on Feb. 6th 2025. I called them since they were kind enough to respond to the review. The woman was polite and professional. The result though is that it was a puff move, blowing smoke up your ###. She listened, gave a pact answer and said thanks for calling we take note of the incident but won't be able to help you further.. Which I believe since there are so many negative reviews that this is how they operate. There are no significant changes here, so if you are looking for a shady operation that is in it for the money, this is it. Get new staff that listens and cares. I went here because I was tired of driving an hour and a half into Austin. I had skin cancer on my back 7 years ago and have regular skin checks. Plus I have roasesa and can have bad breakouts. My first and only appointment it seemed I was inconveniencing them to have my normal skin check. They did not call in all my scripts but gave me a cream that insurance doesn't pay for and does not work. I called had a horrible break out and called to get an appointment but could not see the PA. The other doctor would not see me because I wax not her patient. I ended up going to my pcp for my face and my script. I recently had another breakout and was told I needed an appointment to determine if my prescription was really necessary because they never heard of it even though I told them on my first visit what I was taking. I'll drive an hour and a half from now on. read more

Avoid at all costs, I'd rather have undiagnosed skin cancer than have to deal with this place ever again. I have nothing good to say about Vitalogy. First off, it took me eight months to get a basic full body check up appointment. I was told to arrive 15 minutes before my appointment start, even over phone the day before, and when I arrived, they hadn't even opened yet. You think they'd know their opening time and not tell people to arrive 15 min before that time. During my appointment, I felt like I was inconveniencing the doctor. At the end of my appointment, they asked, "does your forehead always look like this?" and I said "I guess" so they prescribed two medications to me without explaining what they were or why. Even after this already pretty terrible experience, which I brushed off since there's no other provider in Bastrop that takes my insurance, I suggested my wife go since she hadn't been to a dermatologist in several years. Well she had an even worse experience. It took her several months to get an appointment, and the day before the appointment, when they called to confirm, they realized that the appointment "wasn't long enough for a full body check" so they had to cancel it. They then rescheduled it for over a month later AND DID THE EXACT SAME THING, "oh the appointment isn't long enough for a full body check and we'll need to reschedule". So after two failed appointments, they rescheduled for a very inconvenient time for my wife, but she made it work. Well when she arrived for the appointment today, "we're sorry the provider isn't here and won't be for over an hour, we'll need to reschedule you". Now I understand this 3rd issue was an emergency, but they should've called to let her know beforehand instead of making her drive all the way there and sit for 20 minutes before they told her. This is unacceptable. Do not waste your time going here. Scheduling is terrible, management does not care, and providers are apathetic. read more

Your time means NOTHING to them. They will biopsy anything for you, because it makes them a ton of money. I've spent thousands of dollars out-of-pocket (and thousands more through my insurance company), for biopsies that end up being nothing. Stupidly, I've been a loyal customer driving all this way from Austin over the years. This ONCE, I ran into a bit too much traffic coming from Austin, but still within my 15 minute window, and after making me wait for a few minutes they said that they want to reschedule me for next week! I already broke a couple speed limits to try to get there on time spending more than 45 minutes on the road to try to get there. They canceled me. Just driving back to Austin took me over an hour. And they want me to just reschedule because they couldn't push my appointment up by 15 minutes, or half an hour or even an hour? I wouldn't mind waiting a bit while I was already there, but I'm not scheduling another day, another 75 mile round-trip of to come out to this place again! They obviously don't care about my time. So I don't care about their business. Don't be fooled, they don't care about you either. Personally, I never cared for Dr. Saeed's bedside manner anyway. So I won't be missing out on anything. read more

The Bastrop office used to be great but now it's fast in and fast out with little attention to detail. I'm done with Vitalogy.

I just tool my daughter there was hesitant because I worry about my daughter's acne and medication can be harsh. They put me at ease every question was answered. Gave my daughter hope in controlling her acne. They prescribed her a easy to follow treatment. Also a follow up very soon to track her progress. I am super excited to use them as our dermatologist. read more

The staff is very rude. They mixed up my appointment and when I arrived 15 minutes early for my 9:00 appointment, the said it was at 8:35. I showed them my confirmation that said 9:00 and they said it's at 8:35 so many times afterward. Then she condescended and said "we'll see you but you have to wait and precedes to tell me what I need to do." I told her I'd rather leave. The doctors here are good but not worth the ugliness of the front desk. They were also unwilling to aim the thermometer at my child's arm instead of her head even though there are studies showing brain swelling as an effect. I will never go back again unless they replace the front desk girl. How awful to leave feeling that way. read more

Was told I could not have a printed itemized receipt for my entire out of pocket payment. Called billing and asked to have office manager call me, and, big shocker, no one called us back. No Mask Mandate in Texas as of my follow up appointment May 21st. Sign STILL up on Bastrop Vitology's door stating masks required. Walked in with the same black mesh mask I have worn the entire Texas mask mandate time frame AND the exact same mask I wore for my 1st visit at this location. While I am checking in, the receptionist tells me my mask is unacceptable and tries to hand me a paper mask. I refuse, tell her that I have worn this mask for the past year and in fact, wore it there in that office 2 weeks prior with no issues. The receptionist then tells me to wait a minute, steps into the back, I guess to verify what I said. She comes back and says that when I was there 2 weeks ago, no one noticed my mask until I was back in an examination room and that is why no one said anything about it. She again tries to hand me a paper mask. Did not raise my voice or make a scene.. I said, " There is No longer a mask mandate in Texas. Because Vitology still has a mask up sign on the door, I respectfully put one on. There is nothing on the sign that is on the door that states exactly what type of mask is required so who gave you the authority to do so? Nevermind, I spend several thousand dollars a year on procedures and products and will take my business and money to an office that follows our Texas Governors recommendations." Walked out and will never return. I wonder if the Vitology stakeholders are aware that their Bastrop receptionist is driving good cash paying clients away??? read more

I really wish I could give a better review of Vitalogy. Everyone is very kind and I have had prompt service and good follow up but I am in my 40's, have light skin and freckles. I have had several types of skin cancer already and for the most part, Vitalogy has dealt with the spots properly, however, I had one large, itchy, red splotch on my chest that would come and go. I addressed it with Dr. Sayed. She looked at it and said, "Huh, I don't know what that is..." and nothing more was said, no biopsy, no freezing, no notation, nothing. A few months later, the spot crusted over and itched horribly, so I started researching skin cancer online and decided to pursue further inspection. I made another appointment and insisted that be biopsied. No surprise, it came back as squamous cell carcinoma. I scheduled a surgery with Dr. Gomez-Meade and it turns out the spot was very large, under the skin. I now have a 2" scar right in the middle of my chest. Listen to your instincts and insist on further inspection, if you feel something is up. I will be looking for another dermatologist that I have more confidence in. read more

I loved Vitalogy when Dr. Smetanic was there. I'm sorry this will be rather long! After he left, I was sent to Dr. Sayed for my skin cancer screening. I have a history of various forms of skin cancer, so I need to go every 6 months to be screened. In particular, I asked Dr. Sayed to look at a painful growth on the back of my hand that was a reddish bump with an open sore. She looked at it briefly and stated she didn't know what it was, that it looked like an ingrown hair. Then she told me to keep an eye on it, and if there were any changes, to come back in. An ingrown hair on the back of my hand?! As a woman, the hair on the back of my hand is very fine and light - barely noticeable. Anyone with half a brain would not suggest it was an ingrown hair! When I was sent to Dr. Collins there to surgically remove a basal cell carcinoma on my chest (identified by Dr. Sayed - at least she got that one right), I asked Dr. Collins to please look at the painful growth on the back of my hand. One look and she immediately identified it as a possible squamous cell cancer & biopsied it. The lab results indicated Dr. Collins was correct and she performed a MOHS procedure on it. I believe there was discussion about it between both Vitalogy doctors and my medical record was altered to say Dr. Sayed told me to come back in two weeks about that bump. Then there were mixups with my billing from them and the fees were very high, costing me a lot of money out of pocket. I reported Dr. Sayed to the Texas Medical Board but because now my medical record indicated she told me to come back in two weeks (she did not), she was given a pass. While I believe other doctors, like Dr. Collins, are awesome there, if you do decide to go, you have been warned. read more

The staff is friendly and the office is professional. What I have a problem with is 3 times we had to wait 20+ minutes past our appointment time to be seen. My time is valuable to me and I feel that doctors over scheduling appointments are showing a lack of respect for their patients. This is not a one time occurrence. read more

About 9 or 10 years ago I went to have a couple of things checked out. The "Dr" decided to do a head to toe check and brought out a small device which she placed against my forehead in one spot and "treated" what she then said was a "pre-cancerous" spot on my face. I have seborrheic dermatitis on my head. It is not pre-cancerous and did not require treatment. I told them when I checked out that I wouldn't be paying for the unnecessary treatment. Now they have a collection agency trying to collect. I still won't be paying it. Not will I ever go back. read more

DON'T GO HERE!! I made a New Patient appointment for Oct. 25th, 2019. Got the Flu and immediately called and cancelled at 8:30am, Thursday, Oct. 24th. (More than 24 hrs Prior this appt) Received "No Show" $35.00 Billing Statement Nov. 8th, 2019. Called and vehemently disputed this bill. Stated it was wrong to send me this. Now, today. "Brittany" who handles this, is going to "check the phone logs","What a waste of time for $35.00?". Are you kidding me? I work for a very busy dental office. We sure don't treat our patients in this manner. There is "No-Way" I would ever consider going here and am I going to pay this bill? Nope. They can see me in Small Claims Court! read more
