Dr Crouch was wonderful and had a great style and was very attentive to a terminal parent's needs. The 24/7 nurse and care support at the in patient care was also excellent. They had chaplain, veteran and other special events and were always without question professional and expert. My parent passed away and our family is grateful for the care received.

Zero stars, the most stressful time of our life. Visit with treasure Coast Hospice liaison. 1st…read morevisit was suggested by martin south doctor caring for my husband. Hospice liaison said "he is not ready for Hospice". Gave us brochures and went on her way. Husband was moved to Encompass, I did not feel he was ready for rehab, that night Encompass called me moving him back to Martin South hospital he was not doing well. Martin South called me that night and were sending him to Martin North for critical care. Next AM I went to hospital he was not doing well, was treated for several days they moved him out of critical care. My intuition thought they made a mistake; I was with him every day he was in the hospital watching his body slowly going into giving up. Talked to hospice again and again she said he is not ready. I could not believe what she said after looking at my husband. After couple days I said stop with the massive poking of needles, trying to draw blood and he is in pain. I left that evening he was going to sleep he said goodbye love you, he had always said goodnight. I prayed for him; I knew that would be the last of his pain. That morning he was in coma they moved him to a private room and then called hospice I said ok maybe they will learn something from this. We all said our goodbyes then hospice showed up and he passed away that evening. Now hospice wants to help us with our grieving, I went through the hardest time of my life. Don't believe the rosy picture they paint! Maybe a big $ donner helps with the fancy brochures but not hospice care. God took care of my husband and will take care of me.

Very caring staff, answer calls immediately unlike some in town that roll in to leave a message at the tone and never call you back and others that never have even laid eyes on or touched their clients in a facility for two weeks but rely total on facility staff to do their job, for which staff is not trained nor expected to do! My dad received hospice care from VITAS. We were told when we first met with a coordinator that…read moresomeone was available 24/7. We loved our aide who came a few times a week to bathe my dad. She was wonderful and caring. Our nurse was ok but we did see a couple other nurses when ours wasn't available that were outstanding. The social worker who came when my dad passed away was so caring and helpful. Now about the 24/7 care...it was non existent. I called one evening at 6:42 and really needed help. We received a call back at 11:45. Almost 5 hours later. This happened more than once. After hours nurses never ever showed. I called about my dad being in pain at 9:00 on a Friday morning. At 1:00 no one had called me so I called again. I was told they would call in a prescription and a nurse would come and show us how to use it. No nurse ever came. No pain meds. The following Monday my dad had difficulty breathing and our regular nurse called to say he couldn't make it. My mom called and asked for someone else to come because he was really bad. She was told no one was available to come. I ended up calling, talked to a manager, and finally got someone to come. My dad passed away shortly after the nurse left. I thought the idea of hospice was to make the patient comfortable (no pain meds) and make things less stressful for the family. VITAS caused more stress at times with their inconsistent care.

It has taken me some time to write this review, as my mom passed away here at the end of 2023, and…read morethe feelings of grief are still somewhat fresh. Most of the staff here are caring and compassionate. However, one of the intake counselors was very cold, insensitive, and made for a poor experience in a dark time for our family. I do understand the need for transparency, but telling family members your loved one is being discharged because they basically lasted too long here alive was distressing and unprofessional. Yes, you have policies, and yes, you go through them upon arrival. But my guess is many people trying to navigate the impending loss of a loved one are hardly going to remember everything they are presented with upon arrival at hospice. Several of us, including a pastor, kept dodging the low cabinets with dangerous corners near the patients' beds. The pastor did hit his head while praying over our mom. One day, I had to go to the ER because I cut my head on the cabinet, so beware of these sharp, low corners. You would think there would at least be caution sign or bright tape on them! The bright spots were the beauty and peacefulness of this place, and we also appreciated being able to sleep overnight in our mom's comfortable room. Thank you to the staff who cared for our mom until the very end. It is just a shame not all of the staff was as compassionate. I hope this review will help those contemplating bringing their loved one here.
