The place is small with an upstairs area for large groups so reservations are recommended. Service is often good but the last time I came for a business lunch with a large group (outside of the busy lunch hour) our service was terrible as the server seemed to have already checked out. Was in the neighbourhood on Fathers Day with a very picky father and equally picky spouse. We decided to give this place a try strictly due to its location. Are we ever glad we did. Ambiance is upscale casual, a mix of dark colours with a huge pizza oven in the back corner. After perusing the varied menu, here's what we opted for: My spouse ordered the Scilian Pizza...it sounded delicious on the menu and was better than described. I also ordered the Sicilian Pizza..but rather than red onions i asked for hot Italian peppers. Let me say that the pizza was fantastic...perfectly cooked and the peppers added a nice heat. My father ordered a pasta dish with meat sauce (bolognaise). They asked what type of pasta he wanted (which was spaghetti). It came with a piece of garlic bread. This man is VERY picky and he raved about his meal....asking that I bring him back on our next trip down to Windsor. When I mentioned where we went to my sister-in-law, she said she loved this place and had wished they were free to have joined us. Prices were very reasonable considering portion size and quality. Wow! What a great find, this charming authentic Italian gem of a restaurant had me at hello :) The authentic wood burning pizza oven made perfect crispy crust pizza's filled with flavour. The rice balls and sauce are simply delightful and goes well with the La Cucino salad. The mussels were amazing! The young (good looking) staff are accommodating and very friendly. Great service, food is lackluster and overpriced. The arancini (rice balls) were overcooked and the pizza di quattro stagioni was undercooked. The artichokes on the pizza were also from a can and not fresh. If I'm paying top dollar, I expect to receive a top quality product. Not the case at Vito's. The service is great though, that much I must say and that's why they get two stars. I'm half Italian and only eat out at Italian restaurants when I'm too lazy to cook at home. Quaint, small quiet. Started with a salad which had a nice pear dressing, gorgonzola and walnuts. Really good. GREAT pizza. We had the palermo, olive tapanade with goat cheese and fresh basil on whole wheat crust. They make pretty much anything you want here. It was cozy and warm, service was prompt and friendly, and it was a perfect pitstop on a cold day. There were many other things on the menu I would try. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is it is a bit pricy. Though after tasting the food, it was worth it to me. Had I not been hitting the border immediately home, I would have tried to smuggle a pizza back for breakfast. But the fresh yummy smell probably would have tipped off the border police that I did indeed have something to declare....and I wasn't willing to share. read more

So..... today I got a pasta with meatball and a chicken Parmesan let's start off with the pasta the pasta was over cooked and the garlic bread didn't even taste like garlic there was a piece of hair in the chicken Parmesan also the chicken Parmesan the chicken tasted like pure rubber and I know what chicken Parmesan tastes like and it's usually a little rubbery but today was very excessive they also took there own tip even though I didn't dine in I just picked it up myself and left this is very upsetting since I go there quite often. read more

We were very happy with out meals but couldn't finish them (again huge portions). Finished with the Tiramisu which was tasty but a little heavy for my liking. just moved back into Windsor from the gastronic capital of Essex county (Belle River). Needless to say its great to be back where you can find that great little place that feels like home. The staff is great, the food is amazing, spent NY Eve upstairs, best time I have had in years. The only reason I'm giving a 1 is because there is no 0 option. I had a reservation for 7:45PM. I arrived at 7:36PM, 9 minutes early. I sat with my girlfriend for well over an hour waiting to get a table. All the while, other people were getting seated before us. WHAT'S THE POINT OF A RESERVATION??? At one point, the hostess told us a table was ready upstairs they were just cleaning it. A half hour later I was still standing there waiting like a fool. Then, the hostess said the same table was ready, the people were just finishing their glass of wine. That was the longest glass of wine I've ever seen. At 8:45PM, we left because we had to be somewhere else at 9:30PM. Not enough time to eat and drive to our other engagement and still be time. To add insult to injury, when I told the host we're leaving because we had to be somewhere, his response was "why didn't you tell me? I could have worked something out for you." Well, again, that's why I had a reservation in the first place. Idiot. I was extremely disappointed and angry. I will never go to this restaurant again. I had a 7:00 PM reservation at Vito's on Saturday, December 3rd, and without ever having even had a glass of water I can both guarantee that I'll never return, and will actively dissuade others from dining here. We had a group of six, and upon arrival we were told that our table was not ready and wouldn't be for some time. That was fine. What wasn't fine was how the issue was handled. We were made to feel bothersome, and the only constructive suggestion offered was to leave and try coming back later. At any remotely competent restaurant you would at the very least be offered an apology, and most likely a drink or two while you wait. Communication was poor, the staff was unprofessional, and we ended up having dinner at a better restaurant, which wouldn't have been difficult to find. read more

This was my first and possibly last visit I will make to Vito's. My boyfriend made reservations for 7pm and upon arrival we were asked to take a seat at the bar while they waited for a table to open up. We waited 30 min before we thought they were going to seat us at a table in which they had to pull from a back storage room. The table was actually for the couple sitting at the bar next to us who also had 7pm reservations and were waiting. My boyfriend and I ordered an appetizer at the bar and a drink to hold us over while we continued to wait. When we asked our waiter when our table would be ready he stated that there were two tables that would be available shortly. Once we were seated (at a table in which another couple was asked to move to accommodate for us) we weren't given place settings, napkins or silverware. There was a man singing and another playing guitar which I really enjoyed watching and listening to. After about 10 minutes of being seated we were asked to move to another table so they could make room for a table of. Without hesitation my boyfriend and I moved to another table so they could accommodate for someone else. Once we moved there was a decoration that the restaurant uses to separate the smaller tables that now was blocking my view of the man performing. I moved the item blocking my view (which in no way caused interference with or affected other customers or staff). The waitress after noticing I moved the item refrained from approaching me about why I moved the decoration and in a very snotty/rude manner came over and moved the object back almost in a take that kind of way. The staff at this restaurant was far from professional and had awful customer service skills. To add to the awful experience there was a table of about 10 who my boyfriend informed me were Hockey coaches and ex NHL players who were being waited on hand and foot. There food was out within minutes and they were seated upon arrival. I am sure they would have never been asked to wait or to move to another table to accommodate for anyone. The experience is very disappointing to me because the food was amazing (I ordered the Pasta con Polpetti), but due to the lack of professionalism and organization I will not return to this restaurant. read more

I was just there on Saturday night. I ordered the Chiliean Seabass special. It was $42. The fish itself was great but about a half of handful of vegetables came with it. Literally one small roasted potato cut in half, 5 pieces of green beans and 3 slivers of red pepper. It doesn't even come with a salad!!!. The service sucked too. The waiter seemed like he didn't like his job and he made me feel like I should go right after eating dinner. He didn't ask if we wanted desert either. I was still hungry. This place used to be good but now it's a rip off!! It's too cramped inside and you feel that you are sitting way too close to the other tables. Ate here for the first time thanks to a gift certificate I received. We invited another couple to join us because we thought the 2 of us wouldn't be able to use up $100. I couldn't be more wrong. The food and service was above average. I felt our server should have mentioned the price of the specials.
