    Pretzel Croissant and Cardamom Bun
    Sarah M.

This bakery is everything! I loved that they had goods from local farms and brands around NY and CT! I got the Cardamom Bun and Pretzel Croissant, the pretzel croissant was out of this world delicious!!! I will come back for that pretzel croissant every week!! (even though it's and hour drive)

Homemade avocado toast with Vitsky sourdough

Delicious sourdough. We were up in the area over the weekend and now just finished our last piece. It's the kind of sourdough that's just a little chewy inside and you want to run home and throw some butter on it. We also purchased a bunch of their other pastries like croissants and muffins and yup, all delicious. My next trip up North I'll make sure I make it back for some more. The combination of that bread plus some wonderful avocados that we brought made for some amazing avocado toast. (see the attached picture).

It difficult to choose between the three since a double scoop is as much as I can handle before my sinuses explode from exceeding my lactose threshold. This snack spot's popularity is well deserved and the line inside can get pretty long and move slowly. Once you give your order to the kind person behind the counter- please don't hang out in front of the ice cream display and block its view. The happy horde of your friends and family are not transparent. The last few times I've been here, there were older couples who were quietly trying but failing to peek in between lolly gaggers to consider selections and order. While staff work hard to finish orders expediently, customer crowd control would benefit if they were more upfront and stated an organized process "I'll get that started for you. We were thrilled to find a mini golf course in the area and let's face it, there are not that many in the Hudson Valley to be found. The course was set up wonderfully, and challenging for the most part, adding the fun. Some of the course runs parallel to a pond, which can be a hassle if the ball gets in there, so be careful. Something that drew my attention was each hole wasn't numbered, except for one of them which was number 11. Who knows, maybe I missed it. Even though that's an eye-catcher, it's very easy following hole to hole. Also, while golfing in the daytime, there aren't many trees close by, which will bring the sweat game on. Bringing some sunscreen is a big plus. I wouldn't mind making this stop again someday, because there is a lot to do here.

BINGO, I came across Horton House Scone Company at my local health food store. So I bought 2 and they were SO GOOD that I had to buy directly from the company. They are so good that my 30 and 32 year old couldn't even tell that they were Vegan, gluten and dairy free. Most people associate gluten or dairy free foods (actually vegan for that matter too) to be tasteless and dry. Well, think again. If it was taken out of the packaging and put on a plate at a 5 star restaurant you wouldn't know that it had no gluten or dairy. For those with nut issues they are also nut free. I feel like I absolutely hit the jackpot. My entire family eats these scones. BTW the customer service is amazing too. They went on vacation and couldn't fill my order for a couple of days. They actually called to tell me that. Everything is just great about this company. My recommendations to try: Apricot, Cinnaswirl, Peanut Butter Chip are among my favorites. Just ordered another box and will try the blueberry bayou this time. If it's like the others, I will not be disappointed. Thank you for amazing and tasty gluten and dairy free options!

She was very friendly throughout our 10 minute stay here as we chose what we want, purchased, and sat down to eat our pastries. The inside of this bakery was spacious and clean. When we came, there were no other customers since they close at 4pm. In terms of selection, I was kind of disappointed to see not a lot of options. However, we were informed that if we were looking for more choices to pick from, that it would be best to come early in the morning. That's understandable and I will certainly do that going forward when I have a craving and am in the area! Excited to see more delicious options! From what we saw, I ended getting a chocolate frosted doughnut, and my friends got a jelly filled doughnut and a cannoli with chocolate and pistachios. The chocolate frosted doughnut was more dense than I wanted but it was still good and satisfied my craving. I also tried the jelly doughnut and that one was more airy and less dense and more of the consistency of how a doughnut should be! The cannoli is different than the typically Italian ones - the cream is light and whipped, not at all dense, and less sweet. The chocolate dip and pistachios are a nice touch!
