We stopped in for a quick bite before hitting the road. My husband was in the mood for coffee, while I needed something to eat since I hadn't had dinner the night before. Our little one wanted a donut. We ordered a Caesar Chicken Wrap with ranch, onion rings, chicken tenders, a hashbrown patty, a strawberry donut, apple juice, and hot coffee. The donut, unfortunately, was very oily and tasted stale. On the other hand, the chicken tenders had a light, crispy batter and juicy meat, which was a nice surprise. The hashbrowns were perfectly crunchy, and the Caesar Chicken Wrap was spot on. Plenty of filling with just the right balance of ingredients. I liked that the ranch wasn't overpowering, unlike many other wraps where it can be drenched, though I did miss a bit more of that flavor. read more

I would notice Deising's Bakery sign every time coming to the area to catch up with errands and always thought it was just a bakery. Anyhow. Coming here wasn't on the cards for me- but hubs wanted to try something different and inexpensive this time around with this bakery+breakfast hybrid on N. Front St. in Kingston. As if that wasn't enough, British comedian John Oliver has some connections to Deising's. Maybe no sightings of him any time soon, but somehow there's a cake made in his honor. We were here for break+lun. In a city like Kingston, with its chic breakfast and bakery scene, it's easy to get swept by each one of them. Yet, these folks keep their crowd-pleasing breakfast+lunch menu simple and wholesome. Hubs enjoyed his chipotle-seasoned grilled chicken on a bed of greens and my tomato +fresh mozzarella omelette(both toppings are $ add-ons) sounded good and wholesome. And it wasn't just any ol' commercial mozzarella- it was fresh, soft and creamy without it being salty like the packaged stuff. Except, my omelette tasted like it was made on the same griddle with their bacon and it was a total turnoff because I don't eat pork. Worth mentioning though, if you don't want toast or hash browns, they have cantaloupe as an alternative. Service was nice from our server and he was apologetic while we waited for a while. I was watching a show on TV, a comedian who has always been informative as well. We came to Deising's because, said comedian purchased equipment for this bakery on the condition of getting a cake (bear cake) with comedian's face on it. Albany is about an hour north of Kingston, but this beautiful Saturday morning, off we went in search of this cake. Kingston is a bit off the beaten path for me, but, those who live in the area are very lucky to have case after case of edibles that are to die for. I consumed (in the full parking lot) a delectable chocolate croissant. SO showed me his Boston cream donut and it was jam packed with so much creamy filing. Needless to say, we did buy several donuts and also found boxes of dog treats as well. He has endorsed those for this bakery. What we didn't buy was any of the loaves of bread that were on the shelves. We didn't buy the pkg deals (coffee and donut or breakfast sandwiches) or order a sit down breakfast. So to conclude, thank you to John Oliver for donating the convection oven and flat-top for without, we wouldn't have known of this hidden gem. Parking lot is a bit busy. There is on street parking, but that's not so plentiful. Service was efficient and friendly. What we've eaten so far was delicious and worth the excursion. Ambiance? This place has been a beloved area favorite since the mid 60's. They have won best in Hudson Valley awards for their food, and they were also named best bakery in America by a bakery trade magazine. We have eaten here before, and we always try to stop by at least once, when I am visiting my partner. The 4 star review is only for lunch today. The last time we were here, I had the Monte Cristo sandwich. They asked me if I wanted a half order or a full order. I'm glad I chose a half, because I was stuffed afterwards. It was so good also. The jelly that came with the sandwich was just amazing.... Today, for lunch, my partner had the quiche, and the beef barley soup. She enjoyed it very much. She said that the soup was excellent, and the quiche was very well-made. Unfortunately, my lunch today, was not as successful. I had the Mediterranean Panini, with grilled chicken, spinach, mozzarella, pesto, and marinara for dipping. The sandwich was good, but the chicken was kind of dry. Dipping it in the marinara sauce did help. For my side, I had the carrot salad. Unfortunately, I could only eat a few bites. It's like they put too much vinegar in the vinaigrette. It was way too acidic for me. I think the next time we come back, I will try something else instead. We have *Never* had anything bad from the bakery here. Today, we ordered the. paczki, which is a Polish jelly donut that they only have during Mardi Gras times. They were tender, with lots of sugar on the outside, and loads of filling on the inside. I absolutely love stumbling upon local and unique bakeries, and Deising's Bakery in Kingston, NY did not disappoint. Serving up breakfast, lunch, and baked goods since 1965, it's worth a detour when visiting the Hudson Valley and Dutchess/Ulster County areas. While some reviews mention that breakfast and lunch aren't anything special, my rating is based solely on the bakery area experience and their baked goods offerings. There's so much to choose from, but we settled on a coconut macaroon, a donut, and slice of key lime pie. All were absolutely delicious, and the coconut macaroon was probably the best recipe I've tried in years, with delicious fresh tasting coconut and just the right amount of chocolate. I wish more bakeries perfected the recipe like Deising's has. It's definitely a place I'd recommend to others and make a detour to return to when visiting this part of New York state. read more

John Oliver wouldn't put his face on a cake that wasn't scrumptious enough to make baby angels sing regardless of what it was packing in the trunk. Diesing's big bootied bear cakes can get it, as Oliver would say. Get a bear and a cookie assortment that is legit the best in Upstate NY. Wheelchair access details: smooth entry from the front. The accessible bathroom is through a separate entrance that has a small step up. Okay for my big powerful wheelchair, would be difficult for others to traverse. I never write reviews, but I felt compelled to write one after my experience at Deising's today. I hadn't been there for at least 5 years, and it is clear to me that they have clearly "lost their way"! I walked in alone, and sat at the counter, around 12PM, and first requested a cup of green tea. I also asked for a Dutch apple danish, but it turned out that they were out of them. I then ordered a bowl of chicken noodle soup and an everything bagel with extra butter. Turns out they were out of everything bagels, which was now the second thing they were out of. So, I ordered a poppy seed bagel instead. The poppy seed bagel came with pats of butter enclosed in plastic, and when I turned one of them over, it had ketchup all over the bottom of it, obviously from prior use. I kept waiting for the soup, which didn't come, so I asked the waitress if she forgot my soup, she said I never ordered it and then asked me the same question that she had asked me before, whether I wanted a cup or a bowl. She then brought the soup in about two minutes. The soup was decent but that's about all that was decent. Off the list! read more

We were up in Kingston for the weekend and our friends told us that we must stop here for some donuts and pastries to bring home. This was a nice size shop with plenty of parking. We walked into this beautiful bakery and as I later found out, an amazing restaurant. Since we ate already, this was going to be just a bakery run. I haven't seen this many good looking bakery items in one spot in a while. I wound up taking the easy route a purchased 1/2 dozen donuts and just had to purchase some pretzels. We hopped in the car and immediately went for the pretzels. OMG, where these amazing. Crispy-tasty-salty-chewy and then some. I never had a fresh pretzel like this before. Multiple donuts over multiple days. Every one a gem. We will definitely be up hear again but will stop for breakfast here too. Once that's over, we'll be right back at the bakery. We frequent this bakery for their delicious baked goods. Today we were on the road and wanted sandwiches so we stopped here. We got the big Reuben with Pastrami and paid extra for onion rings. The onion rings were cold & greasy. The pastrami on the sandwich was very little deli sliced pastrami, thrown on a griddle so it was dry and fried like bacon. There was lots of sauerkraut so it was basically a sauerkraut sandwich - just horrible. We got a 2nd sandwich and haven't eaten it yet because we were so disappointed by the first. Kudos to the waitstaff morning service . Did you know they are open for breakfast and lunch? The quiche is delicious and usually my go to breakfast or lunch. Today I had a Florentine omelette and hot tea. The omelette was loaded with spinach, mushrooms and fer cheese and it was so large, I had to bring half home. The thing that really thrilled me was offer of a fresh teabag. I drink tea with milk and sugar like my Irish grandmother taught me. I've drunk tea all over and this was the first time ever I've been offered another tea bag. You know how the wait staff comes around to offer more coffee? I visited over the weekend with a group of friends and overall had a great experience. We ordered veggie omelets, hash-browns, breakfast sandwiches, stuffed French toast and cocktails. The coffee was diner coffee. All the food was great except the toast was dripping and soggy with butter. Our server was lovely and so attentive. After eating, we visited the bakery and ordered carrot cake, peanut butter and chocolate cake, banana cream pie and cannolis. The carrot cake was so-so, a bit dry and the icing was not what I expected. The other desserts were fantastic. (As a talented baker, I do not say this lightly.) When you walk in, you can either keep right and enter into the bakery section which boasts cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and sweets galore. I've gone to Deising's Bakery for well over 40 years. What was once, in my opinion, to be a must go, to bring family and friends to, sadly has gone down hill. A few years back, their selections seemed to be reduced, and the service, almost slow to a crawl. I last went on a Sunday last year and remaind somewhat disappointed. Today, 4/27/25, after church, I tried to give it another go. After placing an order for the healthy omelet, and a side of unhealthy bacon, the order placed at the checkout, was told would be brought over to the waiting area insight of the receptionist. Last time i did this, it was packed, so a little slow. Today, giving in to patience, after 25 minutes, I asked the receptionist how much longer? She asked if i ordered it at the bakery. No, I ordered it with you. After coming back from the kitchen, i watched her put plastic utensils in the bag on the counter that was sitting there, and asked how long was it chilling out. No clue. Didn't get upset, left. Open the bag, food cold, no bacon. Toast was ok. At least the bathroom was clean. read more

My son got the construction vehicle themed birthday cake of his dreams here for his 4th birthday. Not only was it incredibly well decorated but it also tasted amazing. We also are frequent fliers here for breakfast with our family and you can't beat the prices, quality and service. It can be tough dining with two young kids in tow but we've never had a bad experience here.
