Fantastic gem, what a find in Paso Robles! Wife and I were taking the train for vacation and we're waiting for the train and saw Vivant across the street, well we are super impressed. If they are not busy, they are happy to give you samples, often explaining the background behind each cheese and the differences between similar cheeses. Nice little quaint place. We are from the South Bay area. My parents love cheese and I wanted to take them cheese tasting and found this place online. Easy parking. A couple of tables inside to sit. I dont know a lot about cheese but they had great recommendations. We decided to go with a platter and they explained things to us very well. They have so many different varieties it was hard to choose. We did end up buying some to take home. One was something they made themselves instore which has a hint of honey flavor. Delicious! I hope the owner, Danika, decides to reply to this review. Business owners should always be given the opportunity to publicly disagree with a bad review. I cannot complain about how friend the staff is. I have no complaints either about the cheese selection. However, when I was there a few days ago, out of 4 employees working that day, only one was wearing a mask. But ... that isn't my biggest complaint. Even when there isn't pandemic, I'm sure the county board of health requires food handlers to wear gloves when touching food. The person who handed me a sample was not wearing gloves, nor were any of the other employees who were slicing cheese with a knife to give samples to customers. Furthermore, they were slicing the cheese, not on a sterile cutting board, but at the front counter! Imagine going into a restaurant and ordering some French fries and having your server just place a fistful from a basket on your plate. Ewww! Come on Vivant - step up your game. If you can't "get with the mask mandate" at least follow general board of health requirements. read more

I never thought I would need a "go-to" cheese shop until we came here. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. They always let us try everything we want while teaching us about the different cheeses and what pairs well with them. They're super chill and don't have that snobby attitude you'll often get in specialty shops like this. I think that attitude is what keeps us coming back week after week. We usually spend 15 minutes or so sampling (a lot!), talking, and learning...and we always leave with a ton of cheese. Others come in pick their cheeses and head out, or order a cheese platter (which look amazing!) and relax at one of the small tables and enjoy a glass of wine. We stayed in Paso Robles for a few days and Vivant truly helped us out which improved our already great experience. We asked them to put together three nights worth of cheese and charcuterie boards with all the fixings to go. They asked all the right questions about our preferences and their choices were perfect. Everything was super delicious and made our evenings by the outdoor fire pit just right. The service was incredibly friendly, making the experience that much more enjoyable. Delicious! I could eat here every day if possible! Our first trip to Paso we actually did eat here every day..no joke lol. We were given a sample Vivant cheese plate at Jada Vineyards. The cheeses we're so good, my fiance and I set out to find the shop in town after the tasting. Vivant itself had a cute Italian deli/market type vibe. Here, We proceeded to order another cheese board (much larger at the actual store) and a turkey sandwich. Oh my goodness. We were blown away by how fresh and good everything tasted. My family has a cheese board as an appetizer every Sunday prior to our pasta dinner so I've tried my fair share of cheeses. All of Vivant's cheeses were delicious, it almost took me back to being in Italy wine/cheese tasting. Just totally wholesome, fresh, and good quality food. It was truly a treat. My fiance doesn't like brie, but he fell in love with the brie cheese here. It was so creamy and had a unique taste. We even bought some to take home with us on our last day. In addition to the cheeses, The turkey sandwich was incredible! It is so simple, yet one of the best sandwiches both my fiance and I have ever had. The pesto mayo is to die for. The bread was perfect texture, the turkey was freshly carved, havarti delicious, and again that mayo omg. So good! The sandwich is what made us return the following day as well. Amazing as always! I'd ordered through delivery services before, but had never been in the store. A few days ago, we found the place and stopped in. The employees were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, not to mention the delicious food. Due to COVID, they packed up our cheese tasting "to go", but educated us first on what we were tasting. Vivant is a bit out of the way, a few blocks on Pine away from the main square of downtown, which is why I've never been there, if not for a tip from someone. I was delighted: they have very interesting cheese, are knowledgable (they asked for what my preference was, and offered suggestions accordingly). We came here before we went to a winery for lunch. All together we got a cheese plate with prosciutto plus two prosciutto and fig paninis. It was very delicious! The cheese plate included the different variation of cheeses (I believe 5), marcona almonds, fig butter, cranberries and bread. This was the main reason we came here because I wanted a good charcuterie board and it did not disappoint! After the board, we split one panini and saved the other one for later since we got full. The panini held up well and was perfect after we finished the first winery. I'll have to recommend anyone coming in Paso Robles to check out this place. You won't be disappointed! read more

Took the dog on a walk. Met up with cheese shop. Wanted to support local. Owner promptly came out "dogs aren't allowed in here because of the health department." Lie #1. She then tells us, "you can tie up your dog outside." Um No. Dog & Hubs leaves store while owner & her employees get a sweet, good little chuckle "so dumb to bring your dog inside," "we are not part of the dog show," "people are so rude," as I, stayed inside and was buying cheese. BTW:SLO county states all dogs are welcome in all SLO businesses and an owner cannot ask anyone to leave with their dog. It wasn't just they asked us to leave cause of the dog, it was the mocking and they were truly rude and lying on top of it. So, I bought my cheese-yes I still bought the cheese, hours later regretting it. But us and our wayward Dog will enjoy it tonight. read more

We really enjoyed wine and cheese tasting in their courtyard. The wines were from Vihuela Winery and were quite good. Although I'm not a big fan of Syrah and we tried a few of them and they were quite lovely. Thecheese plate took a while but there was a lot of cheese on it so I can understand, the ladies were also probably allowing us to enjoy our wine and company. We ordered the Tabla de Quesos wich included Zamorano (Spanish;Sheep), Ewephoria (Holland; Sheep), Black Butte (Califronia; Cow), Cambazola Blue Brie (Germany; Cow), Beemster X-O Ages Gouda (Holland; Cow), Bermuda Triangle (California; Goat), Prosciutto which was served with bread, marcona almonds, dired cranberries and apricots.
