Vivi Bubble Tea in Brighton came in clutch many times for me, especially during the pandemic & not many places were open! They were pretty much open daily until 1am (at the time) & was a great spot to grab some late night milk tea and snacks. There are 4 total locations in MA; most of which are in the Boston neighborhoods, with the exception of the one in North Quincy. My usual order that I get from Vivi's is: passionfruit QQ iced tea & spicy popcorn chicken. The passionfruit QQ comes with boba + lychee jelly! Very good. The chicken is one of my favorite street food snacks that they offer & OMG... delicious. Can't go wrong with any of the flavors they offer for the popcorn chicken. They have 5 flavors: pepper salt, spicy, garlic, basil, and curry. For me, I typically stick to the passionfruit QQ drink or get regular teas because honestly, their milk teas have never been that great... even before all of the more popular milk tea chains arrived in Boston. Vivi's Takoyaki isn't the best but for $6, you can get 6. It'll satisfy your cravings for sure. Of course you're not going to get the best ingredients like chunks of octopus but the flavor is there. We just picked up takeout from MDM Noodles and wanted to round of our meal with a drink. Enter, Vivi bubble tea, just diagonally across the street. Lots of good options on the menu. But we wanted some "original" flavors (no Oreos, or creme brulee, haha). So we opted for a large size of the red bean matcha milk tea, no ice, and with 70% sugar. Even though we had already picked up dinner, we were too tempted by their popcorn chicken and added that to our order too. You can pick any one of FIVE flavors, woah! Salt-pepper, spicy, garlic, curry, basil. After a quick flavor playoff in our mind, garlic won in the end! The whole order took only a few minutes, they were super quick and friendly behind the counter (and it felt nice to order in person versus a screen, after so many months). The food and drink were both great! The sugar level of the bubble tea was how we like it and the quantity was good too. You get a lot of popcorn chicken in that portion. The only thing missing was probably a dipping sauce (my favorite!) but not a big deal because the chicken had enough flavor on its own. We'll be back to try more! I'll make the occasional stop at Vivi's when visiting my hometown of Brighton, MA. Though this staple hasn't been open for very long, I'll say it's a great addition to Brighton Center and definitely can satisfy a craving. I have tried a variety of tea's from here, and can say the Kumquat Lemon is by far my favorite (I prefer fruit based boba drinks). I have also tried various types of slush, strawberry, jasmine honey, and taro. All very good. This shop also offers special teas that come with diced fruit, and while creative, I will say it does overpower the drink a bit. read more

Sorely needed in the Brighton area since most bubble tea places congregate by Harvard Ave. There's quite a few seats as well, along with plenty of outlets by the window bar. I tried the Japanese Matcha Milk Tea with boba. The drink came out very quickly and definitely satisfied my taste buds. I will definitely be back, and next time, I plan to try one of their many food offerings including sausage, takoyaki, and fried chicken. They were not too busy on a Saturday mid morning, but I'm sure once more people find out they will get busier. There is a loyalty card, which can helps me decide where to get boba. I love this place. I am always looking for decent legit Taiwanese street food (popcorn chicken / 鹽酥雞, Taiwan sausage / 香腸, and bubble tea / 珍珠奶茶）and this place/chain never disappoints. Personally I love the food here, and the bubble tea never misses (I always get the black milk tea with bubbles, with half to little ice and 30% or 50% sugar). I love the popcorn chicken and I think the flavor is very similar to the popcorn chicken you can get in Taiwan, since they use the right flavoring. I also really like their sausage. The only con is the prices have gone up a little over time due to inflation, but I do really like vivi and would go back in a heart beat. Vivi Bubble Tea has great Taiwanese popcorn chicken. I had a craving for this yummy appetizer, so I placed a take order consisting of garlic popcorn chicken and a tiramisu milk tea with boba. Garlic is one of several flavors offered at Vivi - the other flavors include salt and pepper, curry, and basil. The popcorn chicken portion size is generous. The breading has a delicious, but not overwhelming garlic flavor. In addition, every chunk had a large amount of juicy meat in it. Definitely will come back for another order of popcorn chicken and will probably try the other flavors. I liked my tiramisu milk tea. At 30% sugar, it was not very sweet (intentionally) and there were slight overtones of coffee. I wasn't too impressed with the boba that day - they were mushy for my liking, but it's possible that it could have been the day too. Minus the boba, the drink itself was fine. We were the only 2 customers which was peculiar for a weekend night. We opted for one of their fruit teas and flaming brown sugar milk. The fruit tea was refreshing, sweet and filled with bits of fruit, jelly and aloe. I forgot to lower the sweetness so their regular sweetness level is definitely too sweet for my liking. The flaming brown sugar milk drink was cool - since we were the only ones there we asked if they could torch the drink in front of us and they obliged. I love how they brulee'd the top as it definitely makes for a cool drink. The milk was also not overwhelmingly sweet which was nice and the tapioca balls were also the perfect texture. But the Brighton location is the absolute worst of all Vivis I've been to. -They regular tea is always oversteeps to overwhelming bitterness. -It seems that they are not doing the best job washing their containers, as their flavored fruity drinks always taste like something they are not supposed to taste (One time I ordered a stawberry flavored tea that tasted like a mix of grapefruit and strawberries, another time a berry drink tasted like a bunch of fruits mixed together). I lived right down the street from them, so I gave them too many chances and every time there was something wrong with my drink. It's practically the only boba place in Brighton Center, but there are many good spots not too far in Allston. Holy moly, with only one other customer in the place still had to wait 20 minutes for 2 teas. How can you take that long to make bubble tea?? I ordered the Taro creme brulee and the 3Q. Based on the menu, I'm not sure how I was supposed to know the creme brulee didn't have boba. Also the woman making it held the torch to it for literally half a second, so there was no creme brulee on this creme brulee milk tea. How can you take 20 minutes to make a tea and then give up at the end??? And on top of it all, the woman was so rude! Moving at a glacial pace and seemed like she rather be anywhere else. I love this spot mostly because the manager is the most kind human ever and takes a lot of ownership in what he does to run the place and to me that really makes it breaks a business. Soft opening today. Went in and was immediately greeted by the manager Peter. Very friendly guy. Clean place. Small. Street parking. Ordered a large kumquat lemon drink with aloe jelly. It is one of the best boba type drinks in Boston. Fruity, juicy, citrusy, and wasnt too overly sweet. Straw takes in the aloe jelly very well. (Sometimes drinking boba with a straw can cause the boba to shoot directly at the throat, which is annoying but not the case with this jelly.) Aloe jelly absorbs the drink well and each bite of the jelly bursts the kumquat lemon juice back in the mouth with aloe flavor. Amazing. Must try. Will get again. Recommended. The only thing is I wished the decor would be less pink so I can walk in without feeling weird as a grown man. Haha. read more

We've always been a huge fan of Vivi ( the Quincy location). Went to the Brighton location for the first time a couple of weeks ago and ordered our usual go to drink ( Kumquat lemon ice jelly). Entered the store with no customer service - there were 3 college kids sort of just hanging out on their own behind the counter. Kumquat ice jelly tasted totally different than what we normally have and I'm sure they gave us a Grapefruit slush instead ( we have had this drink for years so we know exactly how it tastes). Inquired about it and all they responded was yes we have to add grapefruit in it.... Made no effort to help ( curious what if customers are allergic to grapefruit). Overall, very bad experience with this location and will def. not come back! read more

I've been waiting for Vivi to open for weeks now and it finally is! Right in Brighton Center which is 1 mile away from the bubble tea mecca that is Allston. They held their soft opening today and it took about 10-15 minutes to get drinks. Clearly still trying to figure it out but I have faith they can do it! The shop is beautiful with pink walls and neon signs. We got the oreo creme brulee drink with bubbles (large) and the blue galaxy with mango popping boba (large). The oreo creme brulee was good, but I would recommend toning down the sugar levels (I got 50%). It was warm which I wasn't expecting and I loved the cup it came in. My boyfriend got the blue galaxy and it was my favorite! It was very fruity and I loved the bubbles. It had a little too much ice for my liking, but I loved it regardless. Perfect for Instagram! Overall, I will definitely be back. The two drinks were $13, which is expensive, but is what is average for the price of bubble tea. I'm interested in trying their food selection. read more

This newly opened bubble tea space is shiny and awesome, with super cute decals all over their wall and counter, and excellent bubble teas and snacks to boot. My drinks came out very quickly -- less than a 3 minute wait -- and my crispy salt-pepper popcorn chicken was just a few minutes after that. The tea was excellent -- I got 30% sugar and no ice but they still filled the cup to the brim, bursting with great tea flavor and tangy peach flavor too. Definitely go for 30% sugar since any more than that would have been cloying. The aloe jelly was excellent as well, refreshing and the perfect texture. The popcorn chicken was delectable -- perfectly crispy and flavorful on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. A gem in Brighton Center. Came here few minutes ago!! Its our second time to come here. Last time I had Oreo Creme Brule with pudding and today I had Honeydew Milk Tea with poping boba, both are very delicious. This is the only Milk Tea place that I don't feel Rob. Their prices are affordable and most especially they put very little ice and sometimes no ice at all. My cup is mostly milk tea, unlike other places that gives you half cup of milk tea and the rest is ice. You can actually taste the tea.. really strong tea, refreshing and delicious!! This was simply not good. After having gone to all of the bubble tea places in the Metro Boston area, including some superb ones like LimeRed, TeaMoji, and Gong Cha - I don't know how this one still exists. The boba was superb. (The only reason I gave it 2 stars) Everything else however, from the multiple drinks that we ordered, was simply awful. As other have mentioned, 98-99% was milk. The drinks were just poorly made with incorrect ratios. They also picked up the taste from the previous customer's drinks (probably from the shakers...to be fair, similar problem at Kung Fu Tea...ex: taste of Taro). The coconut milk tea tasted like black tea with a horrific after taste...nothing even remotely resembling coconut. The signature brown sugar drink was probably 20x the brown sugar meant for it inside the cup, even with "50% sweetness". Others had chunks of powder that was not well mixed or flavors that simply should not be present in what was ordered. Just all around not good. read more

Anyways I ordered one of their more popular drinks which is the jolly pop milk tea and my bf ordered their Thai Milk Tea. The jolly pop milk tea was okay. I probably wouldn't order it again. In the drink there's a type of cereal that floats on the top of your drink and although is very different, I couldn't really eat it because they were floating at the top. And when I did it was soggy. I also expected it to be more sweeter but it still was a good drink. The Thai milk tea was probably better than my drink to be honest. Was super easy to order online and they were really really quick with the order. The online order said ready in 15 minutes but I got there in 10 and my drinks were ready. The chicken ofc does take a bit longer but its worth it to wait for the chicken rather than the chicken sitting there waiting for you!!! A little disappointed in how long my order took to be prepared. 3 out of my 4 drinks were ready by the time I stepped into the store (I ordered for pickup) but then my last drink took another 35 minutes. The staff were nice but seemed very disorganized. It seems that they don't make drinks in the correct order of their tickets so my order was being pushed further back as they randomly made other customer's drinks before mine. I noticed that the staff would make a drink then try to match it with the correct ticket that it goes with, which does not make sense to me, especially if you are backed up! Overall, the flavor was good. Even though my drinks were pretty watered down from sitting in the counter for so long, they still tasted better than other boba shops. Bubble tea in Brighton! Haven't heard much about Vivi's before, other than knowing it's a chain. This location is quite spacious, and not too busy on a weeknight. I wasn't feeling milk tea so got a mango yogurt with lychee jelly - I also wanted less sweetness since I was getting jelly, but the way this drink is made doesn't allow for that. The barista said he'd put less Yakult syrup to lessen sweetness in my drink, which I appreciated! Would come by to try more, and branch out from the usual Allston boba places. read more
