Very horrible experience with Vivint, they were initially a decent company until they didn't want to send out a new buyout card that was expired. I spend almost $200 per month with them, and they didn't want to give me a new 1000 buyout card, I'm looking forward to taking my services and money elsewhere. Do not use this company. read more

Once purchased it ls difficult to find someone to talk to about what was promised that speaks good English. They've scheduled and shown up twice, to the wrong house. The phone conversations are long, interrupted with long waits/transfers, and never effective. I had Vivint home security cameras installed last year. I was originally with Xfinity but was looking for a home security that covered a wide range, was live and had sound in addition to automatically record if someone stepped onto the premises. Vivint offered all of these features. Their cameras are high tech, very clear and the sound is not muffled or static sounding. A nice control panel is placed on the wall of your choice and you will see views from each camera. I have three but you can choose more if you like for an additional fee. To see one view of each camera, you will tap the screen of the camera you want to see and the live view will show on the display. Using the app from your cell phone, you could be in Japan talking to the visitor and they would think you were inside the house. Customer service is friendly and professional and you feel satisfied after they help you. The only thing that some people may find as a drawback is when you sign up, the initial contract is for 5 years and the surveillance cost is $50.00 per month. Not a problem for me being this is the service, I was looking for and when you own a home and work hard to put nice things in there, you want a Treasure Troll lurking around to try to steal from you caught clearly on camera. I am not going to let a stranger off the street into my house, if I did not put in a call from your company, this is 2019 and you cannot trust strange people into your home. Incredibly unprofessional company. Have tried twice to get installation done, and they've completely ignored our installation window (by 3+ hours) each time, with no update or contact. A supervisor supposedly gave me a direct line to her number for the second installation day, but it turned out to be a text-only line from which I received no replies. What Vivint fails to tell you is that if you cancel your plan within three years they still charge you for the remaining months. I very politely explained that my house had sold and I was moving, but it doesn't matter - they require you to pay the remaining three months of the plan balance unless the new owners want to "assume" your old payment plan. Terrible customer service . . the worst! I've been a customer for over 1.5 years now and every contact with them has been unsatisfactory! Furthermore, install technicians do not respect the customers homes. I've had two installs (two different houses) and in each on they have left large holes in the walls and left drywall dust everywhere when they left. And speaking of leaving, the last technician left before installing all the equipment and has never returned (and that was over 2 weeks ago). Also, all their equipment has to be plugged into a wall socket so it cannot necessarily be placed where it is most needed, instead can be place only where it's convenient to a wall outlet. I was told I could suspend my account if I needed to when I moved but when I called to have it suspended, I got the run-around and it was never suspended. I've been hung-up on/disconnected and twice was told I'd receive a call back which never came. Today I was on the phone with Vivint for 3 hours and my issue wasn't resolved (most of the time I was on hold). Please do yourself a favor and don't sign a contract with Vivint! Find a security company that actually cares for their customers. read more

I DONT EVEN WANT TO GIVE THE ONE STAR. BUT 0 STARS AREN'T AN OPTION. After Vivint 2.5 hours on the phone I have concluded that VIVINT is absolutely predatory. I do not reccomend anyone use their services. I got their services back in 2019 put my services on autopay and never had any issues until I wanted to cancel my services. When I called in February to see what I would owe if I canceled they gave me an amount for what I would owe for equipment and what I would owe for the remaining services. At that moment I paid the amount owed for the equipment and stated I would pay the services owed closer to the time I was going to cancel. On April 21 I called to cancel asked what I owed and paid the amount I was told to pay in order to cancel. Now here we are are in July and I get an amount drafted from my account from vivint. I am pretty upset bc I don't even have the service anymore so I thought. I called and they said I still owed money and that the customer service agent Maria gave me the wrong information. They said that she never canceled the service in April and that my account had a credit from my initial payment back in February and they were just deducting my monthly service charges. In June they decided they would invoice me for the buyout which I thought was already paid in April when I asked what do I owe on April 21. This was not the case. So this error made my account which I requested to be canceled on April 21 to be negative and past due. This is a big problem for me. Because I DO NOT pay my bills late.!!! Ever! This could have potentially messed up my credit which I have worked very hard for because at this point it was 60 days past due. A few problems here. I did not authorize any additional payments after April 21st. The payment made February 16 was authorized for equipment pay off and the April 21 payment was authorized for service...... not for credits. This is fraud and you will pay for this!! Smh. Vivint is the worst company I've ever been trapped into staying with. The salesperson lied about my pricing, then when I called their customer service about it for 3 months straight, they told me that the price I said was not documented. So in other words, it's my word over theirs. The installation was a nightmare because we believe the tech guy was on drugs. He was at our house at midnight and I asked him to leave and complete the job in the morning. He told me I would need to pay him $2,000. Are you kidding me... I called several times about the equipment, they told me would send out a tech. No one ever came. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. A total rip off and scam. read more

Horrible company. Got it for my Mother's house since I was getting married and moving out. It's always saying the power is out and she's right there and the power isn't out. Now the panel has gone completely black and they are trying to charge me $49.00 to come fix. By the way we have only had the system for 4mons of a 2 year contract. I regret the day I signed with this company!!! Oh by the way the customer wait time is like 10-15mins. Which is a dead give away at the inadequacy of their system, if that many people are calling in or they don't have adequate personnel. I  have been misled and I am very upset. I just moved into my home less than 3 weeks ago from CA to GA and purchased a plan with ADT. A few days later, a sales rep knocks on my door with a deal and offers hard to pass up from Vivant. He offers to buy me out of my ADT contract  which he was allowed to buy out up to $2000. My buyout contract with ADT is $1600 and some change. He explained that the max gift card was for $1000 and they will email him for authorization to send the rest in a second gift card for the $600 and change, once we cancelled and got an cancelation email from ADT. We got 3 cameras, a new panel, they used our door sensors and motion sensors and gave us a new door system the same day. I am thinking its a little more than ADT but we are getting more also. We tried it for a few days as he said there was a 2 week trial period. He asked if we could wait until the following Friday to put in the claim as it would affect his paycheck. We agreed. I put the claim in and now they are only giving me the $1000 as that is the max and offering me a deferment option waiving a service fee for 12 months leaving me to pay ADT the remaining $600 and change. That was not the agreement, I am very upset and unhappy. ADT has my card on file and if not paid will charge me. This is very misleading and horrible customer service. Never again. Had to pay an hvac tech 100.00 out of my own warranty just for them to tell me there's a shortage in my Google thermostat. And just the other day my alarm randomly went off forreasons unknown. Luckily my fiance was at home, and I at work.But what if he decided to leave early? If one could give 0 rating that's what this company would received from me. Got a system from them, was told that I have 30 days to see if I wanted to keep or not. Long story short one day after the 30 days I realized that I was charged $58 and change, then I got another email from another the I have to pay almost $40. I called this company Fortiva to find out who they were, so they explained. I called Vivint for an explanation on why am I almost paying $100 a month when in fact their representative told me that the only money I would pay is $75 money. I'm a single parent of 4 kids and I had to budget and $75 was manageable to me. I told this lady I want to cancel my service and they should come and get their equipme t. She put me on hold and came back told.me.that the manager said they can take $10 off for a year and after the year it goes back to the $95. I again asked to be cancelled, she claimed she spoke to the manager again and he wanted to take $15 off this time. When I insisted that I wanted the cancellation the rep started quoting i signed a contract, i told her I'm not disputing that i signed anything, i just wanted them to honor that amount I was quoted. She then told me I cant cancelled, I would have to buy out because I passed my 30 days. For this company to claimed that their motto is based on trust, where is the trust when you have these people who represent them lying to customers to trap them into contract and not consideration these customers situation. How dear you Vivint and the fact that you guys are not a bad security company but these representative makes you looked bad by lying to customers just to filled some quota they have. Sat at home for the 4 hour window and they never showed. I called the company and they said the technician cancelled the appointment but couldn't say why I wasn't notified. I've had this company for 3 years. Once out of contract i received a phone call to upgrade my system with out hesitation i accepted as i loved the company and never had issues! They came out to install my new system with cameras, they would not hide wires so they drilled holes in my brick and in the drywall. I was so upset! The tech also broke my window trying to set my sensors to the new panel. The system would not work, not one camera was online and i couldn't arm my alarm. The technician left and took my old panel with him (one that i paid for and it belonged to me). I called the company extremely unhappy about the damage to my home, the panel stolen by the tech, and the fact that the system did not work at all. They created a damage claim and offered to send a tech out to fix the system and on the work order they put specific instructions to bring my old panel back to me. After no showing 3 times and causing me to miss work i told them to cancel it all. They finally sent a tech out who fixed the system, almost 2 weeks later but now they won't honor the price of $45 a month they offered me for my troubles, they have yet to respond to the damage claim (although i have sent 15 emails back and fourth with Jarrett Mills, claims manager, for vivant, and lastly they have not returned my STOLEN panel that i paid for. I have called and called and they say they will handle it and nothing. Save your self time and RUN! Don't use this company. It's sad that i have to write review that's bad when all this is could be fixed if one person at vivant cared about their customers. EXTREMELY UNSATISFIED!!!! read more

I'm sorry. But this is just not a company that is ready to supply security. The equipment is just not great, it doesn't work. I just had someone remove a package from my doorstep. And I'm not speaking of recently within the past two weeks I mean about 10 minutes ago. And as I tried to check all of my cameras literally shut down simultaneously. It takes around 30 to 45 minutes to get to Customer Service on the phone. it is just a distant feeling for the price I assumed that they would be willing to have someone come out to my house at the drop of a hat. I mean I'm paying almost $70 a month for Security system. But it's the exact opposite. I mean if I were paying five to ten bucks a month. And if they had a corner on the market I would be fine. But they're in a very competitive field. And they are at one of the higher price points. read more

Vivint has the worse customer service and their alarm and cameras as horrible. My keypad loses signal every freaking week, every week my live video doesn't show and when it does show it goes out randomly. And when someone is at my doorbell and I'm trying to talk to them, it goes out! The WORST system ever. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. My app isn't working now and they said it may take 48 hours to update smh so I can't arm or disarm from my app. This company is horrible. Do not use them. I just want to warn everyone not to use this alarm company. I was a new home owner and the previous owner had the system we took over the account and they still billed the previous owner by setting up a new account for me and still billed them. I have had nothing but problems. False notifications from the panel of a bad battery but worst of all the cameras will pick up rain drops all night or the neighbors cat in the yard. I have had people walking in the same area but no notifications no recorded events in the past 3 weeks then they hold you hostage for thousands to get out of a contract because the system doesn't work. I've never seen so many 1-stars before...welp, here's another! I got the Vivint system because a colleague in the short-term rental space recommended them. Guess he doesn't wish me well, because I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy. I'd enumerate all of my issues with Vivint but I don't have that much time or space given here. I got the outdoor pro cameras, doorbell cameras, smart lock, thermostat, door & window sensors, and motion detectors installed and within less than 30 days of installation was having problems with the camera's ability to detect people. Had a technician come out and adjust sensitivity level of the cameras. Fast forward to present day (just about 2.5 months with Vivint), I've had to have my thermostat replaced for failing to actually control the temperature in the house; I've had several useless technicians come and fidget and tamper with the cameras because they have horrible night vision quality and I'm just ready to wipe my hands clean of Vivint. But the catch is that they have this ridiculous ironclad contract and cancellation fee. No two technicians are the same and their level of training or knowledge leaves a lot to be desired, because one will come and say and do something completely different than another. In short, throw the whole company away! The ONE positive is that everything with the Vivint Smart Home system can be accessed and controlled in one app as opposed to having separate apps for doorbell cam and thermostat, etc. read more

We have had vivint for almost 7 months now. Our cameras have not worked 100% from the install day. They now don't record at all! We spend at least 2+ hours a week on the phone resetting , rebooting, trouble shooting! They have been out 12 times and still can't fix it yet we are forced to pay monthly and can't cancel bec we are " under contract". The costumer service on the phone is Pretty ok , the technicians are NOT! We have to take off work for the 4 hour window they give and they are NEVER in that window! Then they spend 5 minutes here doing the Samething we do over the phone. I do not recommend this company read more

I can't rate this lower than 1 star but if I could, I would rate it in the negative range. Today, 2 representatives of Vivint appeared on our doorstep to peddle their security system. Our house is complete with a competent security system, including cameras, and a local monitoring company with which we are completely satisfied. This sales representative named Sebastian, used scare tactics to try to persuade us to change from our current system to Vivint. When I asked for a business card, Sebastian became intimidated and went so far as to say he felt threatened by my presence and consequently he and his partner were asked to leave our home. Had my husband and I contemplated changing our security system, we wouldn't depend on a door to door salesman and we would investigate and research security systems to do the work. Based on this experience, I can honestly say Vivint won't be on our list of contenders. read more

Warning, I had them install a door bell camera, and when I had them remove the equipment, they left damage to the area where my door bell was and I have no doorbell anymore. I have to go buy another regular doorbell. They don't feel that its repairable. To all who choose Vivint, please take a before picture of the area before installing any of their equipment. They may leave your place damaged and getting it repaired won't be easy. read more

I have had an issue with my back door lock registering on my app as locked. It tells me the door isn't locked while it is. I've been back and forth with customer service. The people answering have been very nice and tried different solutions but nothing is different. They keep sending me equipment to help rectify the situation, but the issue doesn't change. I've stated that I believe all it would take is a service technician to take a look at it, but they say they can't do that. It doesn't make sense to me. It seems like it would save them money in the long run for someone to just come and visually see the problems in order to get things fixed. I feel very caught in this situation because I would really like to cancel the service but I've put too much money into the equipment. My initial experience with them was very positive but that has certainly changed over time. To anyone thinking of putting in a security system please be sure to check on what their follow up service is like. I wish I had because I would not have chosen this company. I have had the service for 6 months and wanted to wait before I left a review. I am glad I did. I switched from ADT and kind of wish I hadn't. I have had issues with the thermostats since we've got them but with the long wait times and unhelpful customer service staff I didn't call right away to troubleshoot. The last time they sent replacement devices and they haven't lasted 2 months before repeating the same issue. Not working. My home is 82 degrees as I type and all they say is "we'll send you another one. Why would I want another device that will not work? It's been not working properly. Two weeks after we received them, the thermostats didn't match the app. I just want to warn people from getting Vivint as their sales people are very convincing but don't tell you the hell you'll have when the products don't work. Or that you can't get different products. We were told we could switch now told we can't. Never will I recommend. read more

About a month ago, a door-to-door salesman visited my 69-year-old mother's house and convinced her that she needed the Vivient home security system with the front porch camera and mobile thermostat control. When my mother, who is single, said yes, an installation guy just so happened to be in her neighborhood and immediately installed the new system within a couple of hours. By the end of the day, my mother, who doesn't know the first thing about home security systems and what they cost, had signed a five-year contract for a eye-popping $60 per month! I pay $17 a month for my home security service for a house that is nearly twice as big as hers. And to add insult to injury, they charged her $200 to install the system! When I told my mother, who lives on an extremely tight budget, that she had been taken advantage of, I offered to call Vivient myself to see if I could explain the situation and try to get her monthly payment reduced to at least $40 (my mom made the bad decision, she should share some responsibility). After talking with three Vivient reps, the message to me was basically "go pound sand." Because my mom's three-day review period had expired, the best Vivient was going to do was to reduce my mom's monthly payment by $10 while removing the front porch camera and mobile thermostat control. That would leave her with a monthly payment of $50 per month for a basic no-frills home security system. Since my call to Vivient, my mother has also called asking for a break but to no avail - she is on the hook for the next five years, which is completely insane. My advice to anyone reading this: Never sign a contract with ANY home security company and most important, STAY FAR AWAY FROM VIVINT. There is not an ounce of integrity in the way they do business. They took advantage of my older, naïve mother and when I called them out, they refused to help us out at all. read more
