A nonprofit I work with uses Vivint. We've had very mixed experiences, making it difficult to know how to rate Vivint. The person who installed our system was great. He was friendly and thorough. My only concern is that he told us we would need two panels for a building of our size and another agent who came to our business said this was not necessary and that it was costing us extra money. I don't know who is correct and am willing to assume it is two different professional opinions about what is best. I really liked both gentlemen who came to assist us, though. The person who installed told me that I could contact him directly if there were issues. Over the first week, a camera started to droop. I contacted him and he came the same day to fix this. I was impressed. My biggest concern is equipment. In the first five months of service, we had to replace three pieces of equipment that were not working. It took over 3-hours of our time to resolve these issues. Customer service is very mixed, but it is concerning that we had to contact them about problems 3 times (two of these were for the equipment that needed to be replaced mentioned above). This does not strike me as the most reliable equipment. One the first issues, I repeatedly have customer service tell me that what was happening was not possible. Two different individuals completely dismissed my concern. Finally, a third representative listened and resolved the issue. The second experience with customer service was much more positive. It was using the chat service and we quickly resolved the issue, even though it required replacing a piece of equipment. The third time we contacted customer service it was mixed again. I began with the chat feature. I had to repeat myself. The person told me that we did not have two panels as I was looking at the two panels. I ended the chat and called customer support. The first person I spoke with was friendly and recognized the issue was out of his level of experience, so he transferred me to someone else. This is great professionalism. We all have our limitations. He recognized it and did the appropriate thing. The third person, too, was wonderful in working through the issue, which resulted in determining two pieces of equipment needed to be replaced. My only concern was that this is right before the holidays and they are not able to get the equipment replaced before the holidays, which is a time we were very concerned about having it working properly, especially as we have had some suspicious behavior around our building. When I voiced concern about this, he initially used the line, "we are not able to." I clarified this with him, and he then acknowledged the that it is possible, but Vivint's policies preclude him being able to resolve the issue before the holidays. He transferred me to billing about getting a credit since we are not able to use the equipment for two weeks during a critical time. At first, the discount they offered was pretty much insulting. I voiced my concern and she was able to get me a better discount, but honestly still not what I feel we deserve given that 1) we have had to replace 3 pieces of equipment due to equipment failure in 5 months, 2) we have spent over 3-hours of our time resolving equipment failures, and 3) we are not able to use the system during a higher risk time for break-ins. I accepted the second offer but am still not impressed with their solution or credit. Overall, the technicians the come to the building I would give a five stars, despite their different opinions about what is best for us. The chat customer service I would give a 2 stars. We've had mixed experience. However, given that twice people completed discounted my experience causes me to give a 2 stars instead of 3. The phone support I would give 3 stars. Again, it was very mixed. The first time two phone support agents denied what was occurring was possible. The third person listened and resolved the issue. The second time, both support agents were very good. Billing I would give a 2 stars. I do not think the reimbursement we received was fair given the amount of time we spent resolving the issue and not being able to resolve the issue in a timely manner. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. They definitely get you on the sales pitch. Set up was horrible and they left our house with our doorbell broken and equipment that we paid for not even set up. When we scheduled to have a tech come out to finish up the set up, they never showed and when I called the rep to let him know the tech never showed, he responded and said they came but no one was home even though we were home and we have cameras to tell us when someone is on our property. So basically the tech lied about coming. When we finally got someone scheduled to come out to finish the set up and fix our doorbell, they told us we needed another piece of equipment to fix the doorbell even though it worked fine before they touched everything. The equipment cost another $60 but the tech said call your rep and get him to cover the cost. I spoke to our rep, his name is Ali and he said he would handle it. Well he never did and Vivint charged me for it. When I reached out to customer service they said they just needed to speak to the rep Ali to confirm that he said he would cover the cost of the equipment. I reached out Ali letting him know that he needed to contact customer service to let them know he was going to cover the cost so I could get reimbursed and he has basically ghosted me. So unprofessional. Once he got his sale he has moved on. Do not recommend going with Vivint. We had ADT and they were cheaper and the reps were much more professional. I would cancel at this point but it's too late. Stay away from Vivint! read more

Then, when I didn't answer door he OPENED my storm door and knocked on the door. I WAS WORKING AND BE INTERRUPTED! Not for an emergency but someone trying to sell me something. Called to replace outdated ADT residential service in Colorado Springs and was routed to a salesman Zack in Provo, Utah. I told him the number of motion, glass break, and smoke sensors we need and asked for a quote. He tried to charge $49 for a tech to come out ahead of buying anything and I said no, send me the quote and then if we need a tech out I will be happy to pay a deposit. Zack has not followed through to send a quote, indicative of lousy company culture. I thought I would follow up and then saw all the negative reviews and decided to look elsewhere. Who insists on money for someone to show up for a sales call? Thinking back on the call I suspect he was lying to me about how busy they are, etc. and that I need to pay something to reserve a place in line - for the following morning. read more

When I initially started with this company for my home security, they were top notch and customer oriented, especially when I called to voice a concern. Throughout the years, their customer service was becoming more and more non-existent as if they didn't care. What really downplayed this company was when my truck got broken into. Instead of checking to see if everything was "okay" I was greeted with a "upgrade" which made me even angry. Their system did not go off nor did it capture the people that broke into truck and because of that, that lessened the chances of the people getting caught as they made off with over $2000 in stuff that I had in my truck. One source came out May 17th 2024. A part was ordered and came in on June 26. We roasted for 6 weeks. After the part was put in the AC did not work. This started the process of parting out other things because nobody is sure why it's not working. Here we are more than 90 days later. At this point I just want a refund. Then Sy and Tyrus show up. They don't know why they are there. But I tell them the entire story. The boys get right to work. They found a mistake from the last techs work. They fixed it and now my AC works. Thank you Sy and Tyrus. You are the best. You deserve a raise. I will only ask for you two in the future!! God be with you. i have never rated a company good or bad until today. do not use Vivint. I got their stuff installed. After a little bit (I think a year), something stopped working and was told the system was too old for the techs to fix it. their fix was to try to upsell a new system which obviously I did not. they also like to send out their door to door people over periodically trying to upsell which I've made it clear to those poor dudes just doing their job that I want nothing to do with Vivint. We are moving so I wanted to cancel. The support told me that it would've been $150 to cancel (2 months and some early cancel fee) I declined after being told my contract ended in September and I wouldn't be charged (pay the 100$ to finish out contract). I was charged again after contract ended. they put me on a month to month payment without my permission or any heads up which also contradicted what I was told a couple months ago about cancelling and contract ending. I told him I'd prefer to speak over the ring bc he doesn't have a mask/ if I don't have to I don't open the door. Yesterday, 7/30/2024 around 3:00 PM, a Vivint salesperson came to our door and knocked 3 times, we have a very clear "No Soliciting" sign. My husband opened the door and politely asked him to leave and pointed at our no soliciting sign. After being asked to leave our property 3 times, the salesperson proceeded to curse out my husband, calling him names, and even yelling a homophobic slur. He only left our doorway after we threatened to call the police, and we are still considering filing a report for verbal assault and criminal trespassing, as our Ring camera captured this interaction. There is a sale man name Drew came to my door around 8pm this evening without company uniform and name tag. He helped himself open my home door after rang the doorbell 1 time. Poor Business practices. This is an alarm company that cannot guarantee its services or its equipment. These salespeople practice unethical means to get contracts signed and never follow up as said. We were lied to. Salesman was slimy and told us we had to install our own system. Due to a remodel after two years, almost 3 we needed to cancel monitoring and we were told by rep that we'd have to pay $450 because we chose DYI. We didn't choose this we were told due to our rural area that they had no installers and we had no choice. We had no idea they'd pulled a fast one on us. We would have spent about $6k more to add on after the remodel but some Manager with no common sense decided $450 and a oussed off customer was better than a happy customer wanting to spend more. We're both elderly and disabled and never signed a contract. We don't have a computer and our son lets us use email. The electronics signed my name. It makes us sick to think after almost 3 years they the decided it's better to lose a customer than to wave a fee they charged us for doing what we were told we had to do. We tried to transfer service, got the run-around for install (still don't have service) and their sales people lied on top of it all. "Leave the equipment at the old home, we have upgraded equipment for you for the new home." Lie #1. "The new equipment will be a lower price point." Lie #2. "Sure your husband can be home for the install instead of you." Lie #3. You get the point. We financed the old equipment that was left behind only to find out that should not have happened. Would never use Vivint after the repeated disturbances we've had. We have a No Soliciting sign, they still ring the doorbell. Each time we've said we're not interested, they come back the next day (4 days in a row now, 7 times in a month). After telling them to go away, we were even asked "Hey do you have a bottle of water or some Gatorade, it's hot." No, we're not a 7-Eleven. The sales person, Jonathan was young and sweet, but soon after I signed up, I felt ok that I had 3 days to cancel if I changed my mind. The salesman said the installation would be scheduled, but he started texting and said, "Cool! Our installers are right down the street, they can come right over!". Within minutes, 2 guys showed up with things to drill in our home. I was hoping to wait and did not feel comfortable with these guys installing at this time.(which would have meant drilling the lock in the front door and installing a panel, etc.). I did feel duped. The installers and sales people were waiting. I would have preferred the drilling to have taken place after WE passed the 3 day notice of cancellation. We have decided on another product that would be way less expensive than the 60 months of payments.equal to over $18,000. No thanks. read more

We signed up with Vivint and were with them for a year when they sold our monitoring to Brinks. Vivint's service was ok although parts of the system never seemed to work quite the way it was supposed to, but Brinks was horrible. I reported that the system was not monitoring and they said they would send someone out. That NEVER happened! After a year under Brinks, we switched to another security monitoring service and told them to not order a permit for their system as it was not in service. They did it anyway and then wanted us to pay an extra $29 dollars for the permit that we repeatedly told them we did not want them to get because they are not our monitoring company. They called us every day for a month and then pulled the money out of our checking account anyway. Brinks is the WORST and Vivint is not much better. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! HIDDEN FEES! I recently had an Vivnt sales associate stop by my home to sell me their home security system. It sounded like a good deal, as all the equipment ($2500 worth) was free so I let them in to assess my home. I ended up buying the system and installation was scheduled for same day at 6pm. Installation technician didn't show up until 8pm! He finally started installing the equipment and after taking my old system off the wall, advised me he would be unable to put the new system in its place and to "just put a picture over the giant holes in my wall." When I said I didn't want the system anymore his story changed and he was able to put the panel where the old one was but according to the technician the only place to plug the system in is in my garage, but the sockets only worked when the lights were switched on. I was not impressed and he said, "You could just keep the lights on all the time or unplug the lights (which required a ladder) when I wasn't using them." I again told him that I didn't want the system if that was the case and he worked another avenue. When he wasn't complete with installation by 10pm. I asked him to leave and to come back the next day. He didn't listen and left a little before 11pm. When he returned the next day he finished the installation. I trusted him in my garage alone, which was as big of a mistake as going with Vivint. Shortly after he left, I went out to my 1978 Corvette to run errands and found a 2 foot scratch on the drivers side rear panel over to the bumper where it appears he drug his tool belt. I filed a police report and advised Vivint of what happened and they asked me what I wanted them to do about it. Lastly, I checked the mail today and received a notification that said I had to PAY the police department for my security system. I have no idea where the $60 a month that I am paying to Vivnt is going when I have to pay the local police department $25 for them to respond. This is by far the worst experience I have had as a homeowner. Please if you are looking for a home security system, go with ADT. I had them at my last home and I did not have a single issue. read more

The product never works, and every time you call the company to get it fixed they try to send someone to your house to "fix" the problem, and then they charge you $50 for the callout. They never tell you it's going to cost anything. I have had Vivint for two years and my doorbell camera never works, and my alarm has randomly gone off multiple times. The worst part is that they force you to sign a 5 year contract to receive their "services", and there is no way to get out of it unless you die. Terrible product, terrible customer service. read more
