THIS COMPANY SUCKS!!! They charge you all this money for all this equipment which in no way is better than simplisafe. Simplisafe is $30/month. Vivint about $140-150/month. They "install" all these sensors and horns, etc just for you to find half of them falling off the wall in the middle of the night or your dog barking setting off the glass break sensors. The batteries failed in 1/2 of the sensors when the alarm was less than 6 months old. They, again, "installed" a thermostat that doesn't work right. They sent me a new one, charged me for the new one, because I didn't send the first broken one back. Which I didn't know I had to do considering its broken. I don't know why they'd want it back unless that is going to become someone else's "new" thermostat. They said they would send me a return label for that thermostat, never got it. Said they would come out and fix the garbage job with the install, that hasn't happened and quite frankly I don't want them walking around my house again. Simplisafe you pay $250-400 for the equipment vs $5000, you install the equipment yourself, which you will be doing anyways with vivint and you pay $30/month. So if you're smart and you're reading this review, you will steer clear of this company. There is a reason why all of their actual consumer reviews are so lowly rated. They target uninformed consumers. Oh and another thing, I'm tired of their stupid salesman showing up on my door step asking if I want frigging solar panels. Poor quality on all aspects, my control panel has been repaired 2 times both time the network / wifi card was replaced. The control panel does not stay more than 15 min on my wifi, I even had the router replaced. You can sign up for basic aervice and later find sensors and cameras online for much cheaper than sold from them and they are all the same brand. Im disappointed. read more

My dad got approached by a gentleman from Vivint and he spoke to my dad and my dad said that he was going to tell my mom and around 4:30pm he comes back and my mom politely told him that my dad explained what the gentleman explained to my dad previously and he insulted my dad's intelligence and asked if he was a technician and if he really explained everything and my mom was still being polite and then began with the insulting and started insulting my neighborhood and how bad it is. I've been living in my neighborhood since I was 10 years old and never had a problem. I don't like how he approached himself. HE DIDN'T EVEN GIVE MY MOM HIS NAME!! Bad customer service in the few minutes he was at my house. He needs to be trained again. I'm not recommending this company to anyone or will ever sign up with this company if my life depended on it. DO NOT GET THIS SERVICE. This system is not one you can trust with the safety of your belongings or loved ones. My experience has been horrible. I spent $4,000 to secure a 3 bedroom townhome. I've only had the service for less than 2 months, yet there's been two occasions when I've come home while the alarm was set and opening my door did NOT trigger the alarm. Another time, the alarm went off when I wasn't home and no doors or windows were opened. This system has proven to not secure my home. Also, a third door sensor went offline LESS THAN 24 HOURS after the installation. This is my second home so for weeks my home was not secure because they cannot trouble shut faulty equipment if no one is at the property. Once fixed when I returned, it happened again as soon as I left town...leaving my house unsecured for another two weeks. To make matters worse, the guy who installed the equipment messed up a sensor to my garage door which required me to pay a third party company to fix it! Vivint refused to reimburse me. And the cherry on top is that I financed the equipment and despite the clear examples that I've been RIPPED OFF, they tell me that I'd have to pay off the equipment ($4,000) in order to cancel the service. In a piss poor attempt to make things right, they told me they would send a tech out first thing in the morning because I was leaving town that afternoon and I stressed that these issues needed to be fixed before I left........and no one showed up or even called. To say I've been scammed is an understatement. A COMPLETE SCAM! Learn from my mistake. DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY! I am supposed to be on a deferred status because we are having a house built out of state. We sold our current home and we are in an apartment while our new home is being built. I am still being charged! I spent an hour and a half on the phone at the beginning of last week trying to get the charge reversed. I was transferred 5 times. Finally, the moving team said they resolved it and I would be refunded $150. I just checked my card and the charge is still there. I am so sorry I ever went with them. I have no confidence that they would actually get it right if you needed them in a true alarm emergency. I wish I could break the contract, but in order to do that I would have to pay the remaining months anyway. Update: April 2017 I would give zero stars if I could. I have been on the phone again today trying to cancel (first Nick who would not let me speak to a manager, then Jackson who had to transfer me to Natalie, Natalie tried to help, but said I need to email customer support). I emailed customer support and let them know how dissatisfied we have been and how the tech, who removed the equipment from the house we sold, left holes we had to patch and repair prior to the sale of the house. I got a response from Cindy. She stated, "...we are unable to cancel your account with full payment of the remainder of the agreement". I'm not sure what she means and if she meant to say "without". I have emailed her again, but apparently, it is going to cost me all of the remaining months to get out of the contract. I believe I'm going to need to have an attorney assist me. I am willing to pay something to get out of the contract, but having to pay nearly $2000 for a service that we are completely dissatisfied with! I was called today on my cell by James and told that I can buy out the contract for $1400 (they are offering me a 10% discount) No one has ever addressed the damage that was done to our previous home when the installer came to remove the equipment. James told me that I should talk to the Damage Department. This is the first I am ever hearing of the Damage Department. I was transferred to Brett who told me that because I don't live there now, they cannot do anything. Then I was transferred to Customer Loyalty to determine if money could be reduced by returning all of the equipment. I spoke with Sandi. I was placed on hold. Then Sandi came back and was not helpful at all. I addressed my concerns over the damage, the fact that another customer was given an all clear to return to her home when police had not arrived yet, and the extensive wait time for customer service. Sandi said that I should expect to wait when calling customer service just like every other company. She advised that they don't want the equipment back and I was told the best they can do is 10% off. It is a shame that this company is such a scam, or at least is perceived as being such a scam. They have great technology, but they fall apart everywhere else. Customer Service is horrible and there are far too many Departments filled with mostly college kids who don't know anything about business, and who, for the most part, do not know what they are doing. My mother who is 82 had to cancel them because they never once came to any service calls for her home security system that she has paid in time for over 10 years. The minute she cancels the contract she has to write them a cancelation letter as well as pay the final bill!!! She tried to cancel earlier but they said they had a VERBAL contract that she decided to keep the service an extended period of time. I fine that ironic that they can have a verbal contract but need it in WRITING if you try to cancel with them!!!! To add insult to injury they send her to collections without contacting her for additional charges . When I called them there response was that they couldn't find the cancellation letter she had to email so they decided to send her to collections for $145.88. That was after her service was canceled and sent no billing statements to her home or contacted her regarding this. This company is a fraud and I am going to sue them. Don't trust their equipment or service. I was a customer for almost three years. The systems malfunctioned, the alarm kept going off even though it wasn't set. I did everything tech support instructed and it still wouldn't stop. They told me a technician couldn't come out to help until the following day. To make it worse there were instances where the system went off and no one from vivint called to check if there was an actual emergency. Unlike other stronger competitors they are not properly equipped with emergency technicians to handle call volume to service their customer base. The company will also lock you in to unreasonable long term contracts, claim they do not auto renew when they in fact do auto renew without your consent.
