We were customers for 6 years. We moved. I called to cancel. After being upsold on a new system that I politely declined, I was assured over the phone that my account was cancelled. Fast forward 6 months, I start receiving phone calls 3-4 times per day from Vivint requesting payment on the account. 9 phone calls, 3 hours on hold and $100 later.... Asked Viviant to install an additional camera. Viviant notified me of the appointment date/4 hours arrival time but after 3 hours no show, NO CALL. I had to contact Viviant to advise I didn't get notified of a no show & had to reschedule the appointment. The Viviant operator actually said the non company installers don't respond to them about their activities & frequently are out of phone range. WTF, are those guys installing on mountain tops 10 hours away. STUPID response. I did reschedule and asked Viviant give the installer my cell number, the only number I had for 40 years. Viviant told me they didn't have my number, for a decade I've been a customer & they don't have my number, yet I get call calls when I set the alarm off, email advertisements & other miscellaneous things. They have all my contact info. Value, what kind of price does one place on incompetence. Had a team of sales persons - Holly and Samantha. Very friendly, very knowledgeable. No rush as they explained everything and showed the benefits of the equipment. Set up a appointment for the next day to have everything installed. Braxton showed up on time - very friendly. Told him I had some conference calls and showed him the layout. He suggested best locations and went to work. Couple other techs dropped by - I bought the whole house package - camera's, thermostat and garage doors. They installed everything quickly and efficiently. Braxton (17422) showed me how to set up the apps, checked they worked. He had some trouble with one of my older garage doors openers - found the solution and again verified everything worked. Wife came home and he set up her apps and walked her through everything. Be prepared to spend more! I've been a Vivint customer for 4yrs now and just completed paying off my equipment. In that time I've had to call customer service multiple times for various issues with said equipment. Each phone call into them is no less than 45 minutes as they troubleshoot over the phone and do their best to avoid sending a tech to solve the problem at your home. Most recently I was told I have to upgrade the panel and spend another $800 to make the equipment work "appropriately". I'm very disappointed that I spent all that money with equipment that only works apart of the time and now I'm told to spend more money and hopes that the equipment will even work. I was told after I paid offf my equipment that I could call and do whatever I chose to do with my account. Get a lower rate, cancel, whatever. Soo I pay off my equipment account off early by a year. I call the company to see if they will lower my bill and the people on the phone just continuously play games and word things to twist things around. First they tell me that I'm contracted in for another year, that the contract was the same for the equipment. 5 years! Ummm nope I NEVER would have agreed to that. The woman in my home going over things with me and having me sign paperwork NEVER said that. Soo I wait to talk to someone else who finally tells me ok no problem, since I have paid off my equipment account they will work with me. Cool, can they offer me a low enough bill? Nope so I've decided to cancel..... Also let me tell you that you literally cannot use this 1200$ or more equipment that you have just spend the years paying off unless you have an an account actively running with them.. yep, I said that right. You have a panel in your home that will work but you cannot use your app on your phone and will not be notified if an alarm sounds. Wow!! SHOULD HAVE JUST WENT WITH RING AND SAVED MYSELF TIME, MONEY, AND A HASSLE WITH A CRAP COMPANY. Honestly, even if you did get an alarm and sent out dispatch to your home that it would be some large and out of shape security guard who will take 20 minutes just to get to your house to begin with. We are paying monthly for service and equipment that doesn't work and we still can't see if our kids are safe! We have spent so many hours on the phone ( so annoying after working all day) the first kid that came out was so lazy and even told us not to add the equipment we wanted to add he said just get one from Amazon it's cheaper! Next guy that came out (after I had to threaten to stop service I order to get him out without charge!!!!!) he was super nice and said the last guy was on his 2 week notice so that's why he was lazy! Had a representative named BRENDAN go door to door in the neighborhood offering a trial with a free door bell camera. I was already shopping for alarm & camera services so this worked perfectly. Promoted it was only $50 a month and when I asked about overall cost of equipment the equipment cost overall for 4 products ($100 for the glass break sensor, $100 for the sensors inside, $400 for outdoor camera & a whoooping cost of $1800 for a panel that goes inside your house so you can arm your house & watch cameras which I didn't care for as I only wanted to view in app.) once he told me this pricing I told him I didn't wanna continue as it was waaaaay overpriced compared to ring, xfinity, or literally anybody. He then went and said I'm gunna do you a favor and give you my employee cost and bring down the panel for $600, I said great total should be $1200, nope once I received the new contract it was $1500. Of course he only sent me pictures of certain items and didn't tell me he indeed charged us installation even after I have in messages saying $0 installation charges. On top of that promoted "the great thing about Vivint once you own the equipment you can still use app" NOPE if you cancel their monthly services you can no longer use app and that cost $52 and some change / month. So you are stuck with equipment that does nothing for people who are away from home. On top of that when I asked when my trial ended he would just continue to say "don't worry, it's being extended while we fix your pricing" and once I finally received the notice he claimed my trial ended long before I even received the updates. Spoke with support they basically stated the rep is in control of the whole account and it's basically whatever they say goes, doesn't matter if you have proof messages between you two. read more

When I got my alarm installed June 25, 2019, the salesperson said to keep the monitoring service till January 2020. Thereafter, I could go down to self-monitor, and still enjoy the benefits of the app. Fast forward to today, I try calling Vivint at 800-216-5232 (customer loyalty) and they tell me it's not possible. Customer loyalty puts me on hold to see what he can do (Christian is his name), and he hangs up on me. Accidentally? Maybe. I call again, now mind you I'm on the phone for 45 minutes (this time), and I get hung up on again!!! I call the number a third time, and a customer service person stated that she would put me on a "call back" list. Guess what?!?! Never happened. Horrible customer service. I guess that's what I get from buying a $2,650 alarm system from a door to door salesman. The reason for my call is I would like to know the different monitoring packages. Like I stated initially, the salesman said I could change to whatever package I want. Is this true? Or did the salesperson say that to close the deal. The sales rep was pleasant enough and the product had some qualities I was looking forward to so we switched. That was the last time I was pleased. The college kids that came in to switchover our sensors didn't really talk to us about anything so when the left the thermostat wasn't able to be controlled by the panel or app and half the sensors are shared meaning two windows or entry points chime for the same sensor so if I open it it may read for a totally different window. To resolve this I would essentially have to buy all new sensors at $48 each, this sucks! The install "techs" said nothing about this to us so it wasn't discovered until I noticed the panel said, "laundry or front door," when I opened front door.. I was also told that the thermostat would be nest or theirs and the sales rep just decided it would be theirs without asking, and I'm not a fan. The buy out from the previous company wasn't initiated properly so I had to follow-up on that so I could get the visa gift card sent and pay off the other contract. I feel like if its not one thing, it's another. They left cameras from the old company and didn't take them over or disable them so they are just on and using electricity for what? To be hacked? Overall, I would not recommend them and I will just wait till the contract is over to go to a more professional company. read more

Negative 1 star. Holy crap. Do not, I repeat, do not use this company for your home security needs. We've had nothing but issues with the equipment and custimer support "technicians" in the year and a half we have had the system. First, we were told and decided to use /install vivint equipment and services based on 2 selling points. 1. You can open and close your garage door from the app while away from home and 2. The upstairs thermostats would "comunicate" using the downstairs panel. So we didn't need to go upstairs to adjust the thermostat upstairs. An hour or 2 into the install, the "technician" informed us our garage door wasnt smart Q compatible and that we would have to pay for an additional sensor that would only allow us to remotely see if the door was opened or closed. We wouldn't be able to open or close it remotely. Why not check that beforehand. Being it was one of two main reasons we signed up. And 2. For whatever reason, the "technician" couldn't install the vivint upstairs thermostat so we couldn't manage it from the downstairs panel. Again, checking that first would have been nice. Being they were 2 hours plus into the install with doorbell and driveway cameras already installed, we didn't really feel like shuting it all down. After leaving we had continued issues with the 1 and only vivint thermostat downstairs. After a few phone calls and replacing the thermostat it was discovered the original "technician" only installed 2 of the 4 batteries needed to properly work the thermostat. In addition the technician who discovered this also discovered after much explaining about the upstairs thermostat not being able to be installed WAS infact able to install it. An extra 50$ fee for the thermostat. HA!! The app used to manage all remote access was constantly needing to be uninstalled and reinstalled, do to it not working as promised. In total I believe we received ( 2) 15$ credits for these mishaps. Remember, however, we paid 49$ for the technician to come out. 50$ for the upstairs thermostat and the garage sensor that wasnt quoted in the orginal install price. 18 months later, we aren't able to speak through the panel or with our app. to people rining the door bell or anyone detected in our driveway. What???? Just spent 3 hours on the phone with "customer support" and they couldn't figure it out. Charging us 49$ for a technician to come out because we had a new sliding door installed and needed the sensor re attached. Had to explain to one "customer support" person what a slider door was and that its DISCONNECTED AFTER REPEATEDLY HAVING ME TRY AND LOCATE THE SENSOR THROUGH THE PANEL. Lady, its not contected. The worst customer service experience Ive ever had in recent memory AND the worst contracted purchase, obligation we ever have made. Did I mention 2 bikes wete stolen from our driveway while under vivint security surveillance because they said " the main hubs wifi went down at those exact 2 crucial moments. They came and did a partial install because they didn't have all the equipment and told me my 14 day trial period didn't start until all equipment was installed. Then when they came and did final install I called to cancel 5 days later and they told me I only have 3 days grace period from final install. I am also submitting a BBB complaint. Door to door salesman named Chase came and tried to sell me service. I told him I have no need for service but was looking into the doorbell cameras. He sold me on their high quality doorbell camera and monitor screen. He told me that I would be able to access it from my phone without the service just like the ring. I had to sign up for the service for at least 1 month that he payed for through Venmo and told me that it would cancel after that month. Well everything he told me was a lie! The contract was for a month but did not cancel and I had to call customer service multiple times to get a partial refund. On top of that the camera can't be accessed through your phone without the service. So. now I have a doorbell camera that I can use for the purpose I wanted without paying $45 a month. The company contacted the salesman and he lied and said that he informed me that the camera wouldn't work without the service and that I had to cancel myself.
