Reasonably priced, decent location, but needs updates/refreshing. From the outside, Vizcaya is pretty and very quaint looking. The grounds are well kept and it definitely has that "bed and breakfast" vibe. We arrived a couple of hours prior to check-in, but luckily our room was cleaned and ready, and the staff was very accommodating in allowing us to check in early. The rooms are okay (not luxurious but not terrible) and there's central air conditioning. The bathrooms are small, however. The sink is a pedestal sink, so there's no counter space for toiletries. It could also use a good refreshing - the shower frame was chipped/discolored and the window screen was bent/broken like someone had tried to break in. Be prepared to wait for the hot water, it takes a loooong time! The architecture of the house looks old, I wish they had information posted about its history. The neighborhood is quiet and there are a handful of restaurants within about a 10-15 minute walk. Downtown Sacramento is about a 5-8 minute drive.

Dirty light switch.

Sterling Hotel by Wedgewood Events is a charming escape right in the center of Downtown Sacramento's action. The magnificent dome, stained-glass entry, and historically unique hotel is pretty well kept for its age. My favorite part of the room was the tub. The bed was comfortable and quiet, yay!! Huge and although the view from the window wasn't great I could see my car. Downtown Sac is known for its night life which we don't care for but it's not the safest place either. Parking was in the street and it's not free from 8am-10pm. There is a nearby garage but it's cheaper to park on the street. The short time I was there I didn't see any workers. But the note in our room did give us instructions if we needed further assistance. We aren't needy and don't like to be bothered so it was fine, just different. Breakfast were just to go bars and snacks, water bottles, and juices. But all in all clean hotel and quiet which makes me very happy.

Air conditioning was good. Unfortunately, the advertised underground parking garage was full and we were told to park elsewhere (apologetically). We used the info sheet they gave us to locate another garage. We chose one that was open to the public on weekends and happily skipped off to our concert at Golden 1 Center. We only found out the next morning at 8:30am that the garage didn't open until 11am. This was our fault for not noting the hours of the garage, but it soured us on the experience a bit. We ended up walking to breakfast (there is no breakfast at this hotel, despite the description on Yelp) and waiting for our car to be sprung from the garage. The description of this hotel should be updated to include the price of parking, the fact that parking is not guaranteed, and to say that there is no continental breakfast. This is a barebones location that is comfy, feels safe, and is centrally located if you're going to a venue in Midtown.

During check-in, we found out that they charge for parking and that parking isn't guaranteed because the lot is super small. We were not charged for parking because the lot was packed, but I feel this is something that needs to be advertised. The fact that you're a hotel guest and may not be able to park there should be something that everyone needs to be made aware of. We had to find a public lot to park in overnight. Luckily, we found a lot about 5 blocks away. Overall, it's not the best stay, but.... at least there were no bed bugs....

I was greeted by helpful staff and started exploring the lobby and the amenities, it was my first time in Sacramento, as well as my first time Meeting & Greeting a young lady I had met Online ‍‍ We weren't meeting up for a few more hours so I decided to explore the area for things to keep us busy, mind you it's Memorial Day Weekend The staff at the Embassy asked what brought me there and so I told them about how we met and what got us to this point. The staff saw I was a bit nervous/anxious and immediately without my knowledge, jumped into "Action". I asked about having flowers delivered.... Then they gave me recommendations for attractions and events for the holiday weekend "Do you have any dinner reservations we can help with"....these were some of the suggestions and questions I got ‍‍‍ After exploring, I came back to see if my room was ready, and I had been upgraded to a Suite, which had a view overlooking the River Then she arrives ‍‍ And I head to the lobby to greet her, she asked to see my room, so we went back up & upon arrival...the flowers I had ordered were in front of my door she was so surprised and I totally wasn't expecting that delivery by the staff I showed her the room and the view then we went horseback riding. We got back around 730-8pm the staff had changed but all knew this was a special weekend, because once we got back to the room we had an even bigger surprise.... The atrium was fun for the kids to see their friends and the breakfast was wonderful! The hardest part for me was waking up to a pretty serious water leak above my bed dripping consistently on the pillow next to me. I immediately called the front desk and the person I spoke with didn't seem concerned at all and said the engineer wasn't in until 7am. My daughter was sleeping soundly, but having a steady flow of water dripping on my bed meant I was up at 4:45am with a third full day of education ahead of me. Literally nothing was done to improve the situation and I just hope and pray the leak was fixed before they put anyone else in the room. It would have been nice to offer SOMETHING to make things right. Don't stay in room 420 or at least ask if the water leak has been fixed!
