Please save yourself the time & trouble & hire a different moving company if you're in the Northern Virginia area.It seems there are now several complaints within the same week we booked our move. The company overbooked themselves & proceeded to hire a third party moving company. They showed up 8 hours late, with no materials, and took several hours to move us 1 mile down the road. We had to go out and purchase our own materials & my boss ended up throwing his back out! Currently, we are trying to get ahold of them to settle our payment because we do not want to pay the original quote for services that were not professional. We fear our stuff is broken. If you are moving out of state DO NOT use VKH. I used them for a cross country move from VA to CA. I had a 2 bed/2bathroom worth of goods. I was assured that all the furniture would be either wrapped with blankets or plastic wrap. When the truck arrived (rented a Penske) at my place in CA, a total nightmare unfolded... All of my stuff was packed floor to ceiling in the first of the truck. It was pretty clear the same truck had been used to haul at least one other move. This would not have been an issue had they given me a discount... or packed my items to the terms given and agreed on. The majority of my older IKEA furniture was wrapped, but none of my nice bedroom furniture or chairs were, which would have prevented the bulk of the damage. The rest of the damage came from gross negligence brining it into my unit. They hired out a contractor for the day who I watched drop numerous items/boxes after failed attempts of carrying one handed. I even offered to help just before the man running the show broke the drawer of my nightstand off the track. I watched it slide out as he tried to hurry through the bedroom. This would have not happened if it had been wrapped, along with all the scratching scuffing that occurred from a mountain of stuff being piled on it in the truck. I have done self-moves in the past so I understand nicks, scratches, dents, and chips within a reasonable amount, but this was just sheer negligence, laziness, and also a scam for the price I payed! I reached out to Vlad, the owner for insurance claims on the major damage. It took 3 weeks to finally get the insurance claim form from him after dodging several emails. It's been a month since I returned the claim with photos and I have been completely ghosted. If you're moving out of state, take your business elsewhere! read more

I can't say enough about the VKH Moving team. These guys were super helpful, friendly, and efficient. They contacted me right away and gave me a quote of $270 for 3 hours which is super reasonable. I had problems with the truck but they were willing to be flexible and moved their start time a couple of hours to accommodate. They showed up on time and loaded, wrapped, and made sure everything was protected. They loaded the truck perfectly which you have to know how to do. It's like playing Tetris to make best use of the truck. They finished the entire job in 5 hours (a 3 bedroom house) and never stopped working. VKH movers did a fantastic job with our recent move during COVID. We needed to move in a hurry and VKH provided a reasonable quote based on the market - not the cheapest, but certainly not expensive and worth the price 100%. They moved us from Arlington to western Loudoun, including dropping off a bunch of our belongings at a storage unit. There were a few complications (not their fault) and the team handled everything very professionally. We asked them to wrap up some furniture to store and they did a great job with it. His crew called on the morning of the move with an estimated arrival time and ready to go once they arrived, even working around some issues with our building's elevator and loading dock not being ready on time. We hired Vladislav and Petro to help us with our move today and we were very happy we did! When I contacted them they got back to us very quickly with their availability and how much they charge. We decided to go with them and we are so glad we did! Communication went very well, Vladislav kept me posted on their arrival and then the two of them assessed the situation and went to work . They worked very quickly and were very careful with the boxes and furniture. They ended up driving to another location and helping us move more stuff out of the truck there too. The two guys that came to help me move were very nice, but they were a half hour late. This normally wouldn't be a problem, but we only had the loading docks from 8-12 (which we expressed) and needed to get our stuff moved fast. The move ended up taking until 2pm (the last 2 hours we had to pay extra to have the loading dock for). While the movers did move the stuff quickly, they didn't secure it very well in their van as when they pulled up our second pick up location, we could hear things banging around. They also used tape on our wood furniture which caused some damage when we took it off. There were a few pieces of furniture that also had chips / scrapes on them as well, which was disappointing for how much we paid for movers. If you're looking for a cost effective moving company, they are very responsive and quick in their move, but if you're moving really nice furniture (ours was thankfully only IKEA), i'd look elsewhere. read more

Vladislav and Constantine were very considerate, flexible and accommodating. Considering that this was their first interstate move, they did an excellent job getting their in time, disassembling my furniture pieces and reassembling them and putting them in the right places. They are a bit pricey compared to their competitors in the area, but I chose to go with them because they were upfront and did not have any hidden fees that many other moving companies do have, and that gave me a huge peace of mind in my first interstate move. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I gave VKH movers my deposit and they were to move me this past Friday. They did not show and did not return my call or text until after several hours. The "office manager Sean" stated he didn't have anything to tell me so he didn't want to call me back. Yet they were four hours late. Then he finally tells me they had a flat and axel issue. They were getting it fixed and would move me Sunday 3-4. 4:30 Sunday rolls around again no movers. I call and text. They ignore me and have yet to call me back. I had to miss two additional days of work along with many friends who I had to rope into moving me out by my deadline. Who also had to take off of work. They are very unprofessional with no communication. I asked for my deposit back. They did not respond to me. I called the police and put in a report for fraud and called my bank. If I could review with ZERO stars I would give them ZERO. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. WAIT NO THEY HAD ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE. I was extremely understanding on Friday and calm did not get upset. All you can ask for in a move is to make it as stress-free as possible. I highly recommend Vlad and his team. Reasonable prices and very easy to work with. One piece of advice though... make sure you discuss and estimate the size of truck they'll need. All our stuff didn't fit into the truck they bought, so that probably cost us an extra hour or two due to not estimating this correctly. But otherwise it was a very easy move. read more

I used these guys over a month ago and at first they seemed fine for the price although a bit disorganized for a long move. Unfortunately, they lost one of my bags and also broke two of my lamps in the move. I was annoyed but also understood that things happen. These items were insured and I had to email Vlad back and forth several times to get him to agree to write me a check. I have not received a check for these items and it has been over a month. I'm not holding my breath about getting it and am chalking this up to a loss. I'm sure they are fine for short distances but I would use a more professional company for longer moves and not purchase the additional insurance, trying to get reimbursed is more pain than it is worth with these guys. read more

Fast, thorough, efficient. Took great care of every item, quickly assembled all furniture. All with a great attitude and a fair price. However, when I returned to inspect my apartment, SEVERAL items remained, un-moved, including most of the bathroom, a framed family portrait, a large surge protector/power supply, etc. Wire hangers, water and soda bottles, and tape rolls were strewn about. Unacceptable, as we agreed to, and I paid for having the apartment completely emptied. To their credit, they did return later in the week to complete the job. I did not book VKH Movers however they were sub-contracted out by the moving company that I did book through Bespoke Moving,DC (see review). When I booked my original appointment with Bespoke I stressed the start time of 9 am b/c I only had a 3 hr window to use the loading dock from the building that I was moving from. Bespoke promised to be on time. However on the day of the move it was quite a different story. MOVE DAY: A few minutes before 9 am I received a call. I was expecting the call to say they were here but no such luck. The person introduced himself as Christopher and he would be my mover today. Christopher also told me he was having truck problems and will be an hour late. But not to worry b/c he would give me a discount. Did I think he would fix his truck and get to my place in an hour???? NO. I was correct. Approx. 10:20 am I received a text msg saying he is now on his way to my location. He and Petro finally arrived at 11:05 am. Again I only have the loading dock to 12 pm and the tenant booked for the next 3 hr slot for the loading dock moving truck was already there (wish I'd hired them). During the time I was waiting for the movers to show up I had moved EVERYTHING but the couch to the loading dock by myself. I was still recovering from knee surgery hence the reason I booked movers for the job in the first place. Had I not moved anything the movers would not have gotten everything packed in the truck in the 50 mins. that were left in my time slot for the loading dock and then I would have really been screwed and not been able to move. I later find out from Christopher that he is not from Bespoke, but that he just started his own moving company VKH Movers. Hearing that made me angry b/c all my research looking for a dependable moving company was wasted time. Had I known that Bespoke sub-contracts out its jobs I would have never hired them. Oh and the discount I got....wait for it.....$20! On top of that Christopher wanted me to write the review for his company immediately, I told him I would write a review he said "no lets do it now and I will help you write it" Seriously, I guess he thought the $20 discount he gave me deserved raging reviews! I would give the actual work they did 3 Stars b/c once they did get there the work they did was good and seemed to be careful moving things. I still tipped them even though I did not feel I received a fair discount for being over 2 hrs late and myself having to do half the job for them. read more

USE A REAL MOVING COMPANY AND SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE. Worst decision i could have ever made. Accepted an hourly moving rate, which goes against best paractices. Both the manager and i figured the job would take 3 hours so i thought it wouldn't be so bad. BOY WAS I WRONG! Cost of the job wound up being ($1100) which was almost double the quote ($600). I was moving from a one bedroom apartment with a 5 piece bedroom set, 3barstools and six boxes. I explained to the manager that the bedroom set was all wood and was heavier than normal. He sent two people who he said were the ultimate professionals. These guys were not prepared at all. They moved slowly and deliberately. They had two hand trucks that were no bigger than mine. It looked like they git them from home depot. They didnt have any padding to cover my cherrywood floors. Making matters worst, they put my Italian furniture directly on my cherrywood floors without padding and turned it, leaving grooves in my floor, walls and railings. I got in an argument with the movers who were onsite because they should have known better. One of them even wanted to fight. The job was supposed to start at 9 AM. They moved the time to 1 PM and showed at 2 PM. The job lasted until 9 PM at night. I tried to talk to the manager about the issues i encountered and was told he would get in touch with me. Of course you know that never happened. This was a bait and switch that i never saw coming. So, i share my experience with you so that you can make an informed decision.
