I used Bonza movers again for a second time earlier this month as I moved from Alexandria to DC. As before, Abba and his crew were on time, ready to go, and incredibly careful and respectful of all of my belongings. His team of two movers got everything down to the truck speedily, while Abba carefully wrapped up all of my larger and more valuable items. They made it to the new location pretty quickly, and also unpacked carefully and quickly. They had me inspect the truck once they were done just to ensure all of my belongings were out, and took care of the bill, which was exactly the rate we had agreed upon during scheduling. Highly recommend this team of skilled movers! Great value and service. read more

What an exhausting and frustrating experience! They didn't send or highlight their policy ahead of time or explain that the hourly rate they gave us didn't include the cost of the truck the way other quotes did so we thought they were more affordable when really they were not up front. We also told them ahead of time we're in a townhouse with 3 flights of stairs and all the main furniture we needed to move (we did all the small and fragile items ourselves since we're moving 25 mins away). No lamps or dishes or decor. Literally boxes and furniture that was too heavy for us. We moved from a 1600sqft townhouse with 3 rooms.. I don't understand.l how this was such an insurmountable task. They spent 4 hours just in our 2 upstairs bedrooms which included standard items (king bed, 2 side tables, wardrobe, small dresser, daybed and 2 unassembled cribs) a lot of which we had shrink wrapped ourselves. They stood around wondering what the best way to get things downstairs was so my husband who was very frustrated by their pace just started doing it himself and exhausting himself which was why we hired them in the first place. 4 grown men who's job it is to move things should know how to do this. Our property isn't unique for Nova so I'm not sure where the confusion came from. We have 2 small kids and did a lot of the work to get things done for them but somehow these guys stretched it to an 11 hour day because gotta make that cash, right?! Then at the end My husband asked them to wait so he could double check if anything big was left and when he noticed they left a whole big tv box on our top level, they were driving away. Didn't even listen to him and had the nerve to say they would charge him for the box if we kept it. What?!! Soo much stuff was left for us after they left and they didn't put a single piece of furniture in the right place at our new house. We said "in the corner" and they put it 2 feet from the corner...moving with kids we have exhausted ourselves beyond belief getting moved and these people made the journey not only expensive but soooo very difficult. We had to go back and move extra thigh and clean for a few hours.. very stressful. Major waste and would absolutely never recommend them. Insane amount of up charges ($400 worth of tape as though they don't buy it in bulk). Never again! Our new house is a tornado of things none of which are in the right place and I'm so upset and overwhelmed. What's hilarious is that they wrapped everything like crazy but still broke a wheel from our fridge and just said "oh". No apologies, no offer to fix it, no we can take off something for you... nothing. Then $3000 later they asked if we wanted to tip on top of this nightmare of an experience...very bold, but the only tip I can offer is "Do better. Much better" read more

I have used Abba and his crew three times now, and about to schedule a fourth. I won't use anyone else for a local move. They are super efficient and wrap items really well. Even though for my most recent move I called at the last minute (my dad passed and we needed to get his things out of the expensive assistive living and into storage), both Kate in the office and Abba worked miracles to fit us in for which I am so thankful. BonzaMovers helped me about a week ago and I was SO pleased. Three super friendly people came to help me and seemed to work very efficiently. I didn't even need to tell them where to park! They handled so much - from wrapping up my furniture to grabbing boxes. Abba was super communicative and very nice. My reason for docking one star is purely price-point. They were not the cheapest (although also not the MOST expensive). I was quoted and was expecting them to take about 2 hours (as I was moving into a studio, I had a good amount of stuff but I didn't think TOO much), but it took about 3.5 hours. With tip, the total was about $600 which was more than I planned. I am still SOOO glad I went with them and wouldn't have had it any other way - hiring movers was the best decision I could have made! read more

I booked them just the night before. They were professional in answering and getting back to me. Sent me a quote over the email. Were on time. Truck was enormous. They were polite and helpful. Although I feel they could have been faster in packing and wrapping, ended up taking additional 1.5 hours to get the move done for which I had to pay extra. Total 3.5 hours for a one bedroom apartment move. Will definitely recommend though! Giving 4 starts just because I wish they estimated the time and managed to do it in 2 hours. Maybe it was not possible. I wouldn't know. But they're great!! read more

UPDATE: After this review Bonza threatened me saying that because I wrote this review they were going to give my business a poor review too. I can only assume this is an attempt to get me to take down this review. How did they know about my business?! I wonder if they snooped though our things. Honestly it just keeps getting worse and worse. Moral of the story: Do not do business with this crooked company. If you write a bad review they will threaten you until you take it down. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I'm very disappointed with the service and professionalism of Bonza Movers. I was optimistic because Abba and his crew were very responsive on Yelp messenger, showed up on time, and got the boxes out of the house very quickly. However, they ruined close to $5,000 in furniture while moving our items into our new house (across multiple pieces of furniture), and only reimbursed us $250 when everything was said and done. Their insurance is laughable - it's $0.60 per pound. So let's say you have a $3,000 piece of furniture that's 50 lbs. That means if they damage it, you only get $30. Let's go back though - first, they underestimated the time it would take to move us by 100% (it took 5 more hours than they told us it would, at $190 per hour). Great for them since they were getting paid hourly. They lost items, broke MANY items, and put huge gouges in our walls going up the stairs. At one point, they spent nearly 1.5 hours pushing a couch through a doorway that it would not fit through. They cracked the wood interior of our sleeper sofa, ripped the fabric, damaged the door frame--and then told me their insurance wouldn't cover any of it because Abba had alerted us it might get damaged when his crew was mid-push and had the couch stuck. In fact, there were two doors leading into the room, and their "professional" movers told us the other door was smaller. Turns out, they didn't actually measure it. Once my husband measured, they were able to bring the couch in through that door with very little effort. Too bad they had damaged it beyond repair at that point. Again, they blamed us saying that it was our responsibility to measure door frames. Honestly, we hired professional movers to make our lives easier--all Bonza did was break our stuff and refuse to take accountability for it. UPDATE: Bonza clearly has an issue with honesty and privacy. We never said our chandelier was 500 lbs. No one expects a company to keep track of items they didn't pack. This was not at all what the claim was for. We actually got $0 from Bonza for damaging our couch - regardless of the valuation, this is a joke. read more

I don't think I hate anything more than moving. When we finally found a house I knew it was time to find a company to ease the pain. BonzaMovers were quick to respond with a quote and seemed to be in line with other companies in the area. I was quoted: $130 an hour with a minimum of three hours. Three hours seemed like the perfect amount for us.All of my communication was through Yelp and I was confirmed within minutes. When the day finally came BonzaMovers was slightly late (15 minutes) but we're all business. Within minutes they were moving everything out of the apartment and onto the U-Haul truck. I was slightly surprised to see that they didn't actually own a truck but trucks are expensive... either way it wasn't an issue. I assumed our 2 bedroom apartment would be loaded within an hour but it took almost two. It definitely was longer than I planned and blew the original 3 hour idea out of the plan. *We were also living on the third floor which didn't help.* Once the truck was loaded BonzaMovers drove it almost an hour to the new location. Within minutes they were unloading everything. By the time everything was finished it took four hours to complete my two bedroom apartment along with a 45 minute drive, final cost was $520. Both crew members were friendly and professional the entire time. I would definitely recommend them and I will keep their business card for next time. read more

At least they try to be nice. Greeted me all smiley and happy until the end when the movers gave me the attitude as if they were going to punch me for not tipping. Why would I tip you when you deliberately inflate your billable hours by moving boxes one by one instead of using a dolly which I find odd that you don't have one for a $170/hr service. I had a one bedroom apartment, everything was packed and just needed to move a couch, a bed, a desk and TV. Till this day I cannot grapple the audacity the team had to intentionally overstate billable hours. I get we are living in rough times, but don't forget your customers are living under a tough time as well. I didn't even think of moving boxes one by one as a deliberate Ill intent until the movers gave me nasty attitude especially after I offered them a $70 lunch. I contacted BonzaMovers through Yelp and they responded very quickly. I called them and described what I had to be moved and they gave me a quote and emailed me. I accepted and sent them my information. They confirmed a few days before and answered any questions I had. The guys were right on time and were very efficient! They wrapped everything and moved things around to make sure EVERYTHING would fit, including a some extra boxes I hadn't expected them to take! Unloading was quick and easy. I just told them where things went and everything was out of the truck in a flash! They accidentally made one little ding in the wall and had the tools to fix it immediately! This was my second time using this service after a positive experience the first time. This move, however did not go as well as the first. I truly do not wish to write any negative reviews but was concerned with the amount of damage after using this service. For the positives: the crew worked very hard and everyone was very kind. We appreciated their dedication in moving among our 4 locations (all of which was explained prior to booking with them as I wanted to ensure everyone was aware of the scope of our day - all addresses were provided). I also appreciated the effort in trying to fix a problem after the move was completed. My review stems first from problems we noticed immediately after the move. Almost every large piece of furniture was nicked or damaged during the move. It was a long day and I understand everyone was tired but I would hope hiring a moving company who takes time to pack everything would ensure careful handling of furniture. This was not the case as nearly all the wooden pieces have been scraped, a wall was completely knocked into and damaged, a desk chair was broken, and several glass pieces were dropped and consequently broken. Second, we have a TempurPedic adjustable mattress frame with the bed - I was assured many times it was set up correctly when it was not. I appreciated a visit after the move to try and fix, which we were able to problem-shoot the mattress was indeed placed incorrectly however felt slightly forced into agreeing that it was then corrected. It turns out it was still not set up correctly. I unfortunately suffered from a prolonged spinal injury at the same time and this error caused added pain and frustration. We also had to help unload many of the items as it took quite a lot of time to get everything completed. This would be alright if there was not as much damage. Overall, it was a bit disappointing and I will not use this service for future moves. I have been a part of many moves and just witnessed two large ones of the same scale where furniture was handled with much more care and was completed in less time. read more

Other moving companies on Yelp with high reviews claim a flat hourly rate and then surprise you with non sense fees! Not Bonza! The rates were flat and the lowest of 8 different quotes! Yes FLAT!!!! I just had them move my One Bedroom ++ Sunroom this past Saturday. They didn't have availability originally, but they squeezed me in! So for the initial quote price, it was very upfront and honest. To hour minimum needed and w/how some places are here w/awkward loading docks...you will definitely fill out this time. I asked for discounts and told 5% if I paid cash to avoid credit card processing fees. Awesome sauce! Ok, down to the move. The move was scheduled for 2:00pm but they had a delay and called me letting me know. And they honestly didn't just let me know, but they made sure that I was ok w/this as well. To be honest, I was running ragged and excited for the hour delay. Besides, things happen. So that was no biggie as I wasn't in too big a rush and they were very considerate. The guys they sent over were Charles and Marquis. Very sweet, professional, and efficient guys. They loved my Lend-a-Boxes (y'all should rent these if you move!!! Lifesavers) and it really helped speed things up w/box removals. They were great to communicate what they were doing, to ensure they had the items set, and wrapped up my big/fragile items well. Again, quick and efficient. Travel time wasn't too long since we were only moving 1.1 miles (I checked google maps haha) to our new home. They quickly unloaded and even had a receipt for me at the end. When I priced out how much it would be all in all, their numbers matched up to what I had. So they were honest w/the quotes and pricing which made me really happy. Not only that, at the beginning of the process they wrote down the start time to ensure that we were both on the same page so billing would come out correct. This is a great way to do business and I had picked them based off their Yelp reviews. So if you are looking to move, can budget some wiggle room, I recommend these guys. He told me he'd be on site at 1100 - he showed about 10 minutes early and got right to work with his helper, Charles. 2. Over email he estimated about two hours to load my items in his truck - sure enough it was 1 hour and 55 minutes. 3. They wrapped all my furniture in blankets and shrink-wrap so nothing was damaged. I hired them to load the rental truck that I was driving out of state. When I arrived at my destination, everything was still in the same spot on the truck and nothing was broken or damaged. I came upon BonzaMovers on Thumbtack while searching for movers. Moving is such a dreaded activity, and ugh I left a few things to the last minute, including finding movers. I was grateful I got a ton of replies from movers and ultimately chose Bonza because of their Yelp reviews. So many 5 stars reviews I figured they must be great. They arrived on time and were helpful in packing up stuff that hadn't been packed yet. Everything was fine until we got to our new place. A few things led to my knocking two stars from this rating. They poked a hole in the wall, when I asked one of guys how often this happens to them he told me it's never happened to him before, that the third guy was new and this was his first time working with him and it was his fault. Ok so sucks for us we got a newbie mover who was careless and punched a hole in our wall. Second, when moving a white piece of furniture they scratched the floor quite a bit, something I've not been able to remove since. When I told Abba about the scratch (this was pre hole in the wall) he reprimanded the same inexperienced guy for not putting down cardboard before dragging the furniture. Third, that same white furniture when all was said and done was quite beat up. Red marks on one side (NO idea what they hit that was red), scuff marks all over. Abba gave me a discount on the bill, he said to fix the hole in the wall. Of course I appreciated that, and I consider that what needed to be done. By the end I was just upset at how seemingly careless they were. The guys were all nice, but unfortunately I cannot recommend them. Perhaps it was just our bad luck that day with the one clumsy guy, but why have him work at all then? Adding the stress of damaged items is not something you need on top of an already stressful situation. read more

Abba and his moving partner was amazing! He gave me a call almost an hour before he arrived to let me know he was running a bit early, and then arrived about 10 minutes ahead of schedule. I was moving, but my roommate was not, and they were both incredible considerate to ask which items were meant to be moved to ensure they didn't bring anything along with me that was meant to stay. They offered to take items apart and then put them back together to make things more convenient, which was very valuable. Upon leaving from my old apartment, Abba let me know that they may take a couple extra minutes because they had to avoid certain roads since they were using a truck. I really appreciated the heads up! They were super efficient and made sure all my belongings were secure. BonzaMovers was one of the companies that responded to my request for moving quotes. Other companies advertised a lower per hour rate, but bundled higher minimums and travel times into their quotes. I moved from an upstairs one bedroom into Abba was very communicative, and apologized that his team would be running late due to their prior job taking longer than estimated. They were clear in their communication, and in asking me what I wanted to be shrink-wrapped or covered in blankets. They had my stuff packed, moved, and unpacked in 2 hours, even though it rained while they were unloading my stuff. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to hire them again. read more

Very happy with my move during the pandemic across town. Abba and his crew worked hard and were careful with my stuff. During the delivery part of the move, I couldn't find one box I was looking for and started to freak out. The guys were very polite and didn't take my freaking out personally. After a while we found the box, mistakenly put under a different box, and everything was good. We have even used them again after the move help us get a heavy furniture delivery up the stairs. I don't understand why these guys don't come up first when you yelp for good movers in this area....THEY WERE THE BEST. (Probably other guys pay for promotional status or something). I called dozens and dozens of movers for a last minute move of furniture that was to be delivered "curbside" only. They gave me the best price, were super responsive, and above all flexible on time. They were also very efficient, arrived timely, and professional - e.g., used mats, dollies, ropes, etc. I wouldn't use anyone else, esp. for the small jobs that are sometimes hard to get folks to come out for without charging a ridiculous minimum and arrival fee. read more

Took them 80 minutes just to get my furniture off the truck post arrival with an elevator all to themselves. I have a one bedroom 700 square foot apartment btw. It's exorbitant. These guys do their best to stretch out their time. Lots of standing around. Lots of I'm going to wait on my partner to come back from whatever black hole he disappeared to before I move a muscle. I moved not even 5 miles from the pickup point. They left before me but got there after me. Then it took them 80 minutes just get my stuff indoors. I even helped. Some things I moved and unwrapped myself. Four hours and $600 for a one bdrm apart move where the travel time between was less than 20 minutes.... A rip-off. read more

We've used Bonza movers twice now & have also referred to family. They not only had great rates but customer service was top notch from Abba. The first move he brought an extra truck free if charge. Abba came out quickly and punctually to give us a free estimate. I really appreciated that Abba extended a military discount to us. We had 4 men the first time, and 3 the second. BonzaMovers charges by the hour and there is no hidden fee such as stairs fee, travel fee, truck fee etc. They are efficient and well equipped. We had a huge recliner, which they moved out of our apartment in a breeze! We did get charged for 4 hours for our 1 bedroom apartment (900 sq ft) with a 2-people crew. Admittedly the traffic was bad from Arlington to Alexandria during rush hours. The overall price is still competitive. There was some small damage to our king-size bed though, which was pretty unfortunate. read more

I called Bonza movers on a Sunday afternoon when I realized I wouldn't be able to unload the 15 ft. U-Haul on Monday when the truck was due to be returned. I also needed some of the items transported to my mom's apartment. Bonza assured me they would be at my house on Monday morning and would be able to unload the truck, follow me to my mom's and help unload her items into her apartment. Hugo, Marcus and Leo were right on time, very professional, and fast. They even assembled my mom's furniture. It was all done in under the 2 hour time frame.
