I reached out to Jack for upgrading flooring from carpet to luxury vinyl plank on 2 floors including stairs. I already had quotes from sweethardwood and S&G carpet (through Costco). Jordan at S&G carpet was really helpful however it really came down to cost. Jack was very responsive and came to my place for measurement. He gave me a quote the same day and we were planning to go with sweethardwood as some of my neighbors did the flooring thru them. However Jack called me offered great rate and promised to start the week-long job soon. Jack came with a pallet of flooring material which was damaged due to water. He immediately went back to return the material and get new ones. On Tuesday, Jack's team also took care of all the stuff as promised, moving furniture, replacing the baseboards etc. Ted & Junior were really awesome. Because I chose another company for painting, a large, unnamed corporation who bid on everything decided at the last minute to not do our floors either. This put me in a real bind as it was March 19, and my siblings and I needed to get our family home ready for tenants to start moving asap. They had to be moved in by April 1. I started the Yelp request for bids process that day. VM was one of the companies that popped up. I sent my bid request / project description in, and Vasly / Jack, the owner, responded that same day. Jack came by the house the next morning as promised. He ran an estimate and answered all my questions. He said he could get the flooring started Monday and finish by Saturday. His crew led by Alfonso started the demolition work Monday morning. We met Jack at the flooring warehouse in San Jose at 1, and he helped us choose materials. Any time he was running late, he always called. They haven't quite finished the work yet, however, I can't wait to write this review. The scope of work was tearing out old carpeting and linoleum throughout the 60+-year-old house, and replacing it with laminate flooring in the kitchen, bedrooms, living room and hallways. The bathrooms will have waterproof luxury vinyl. During the demo work, Alfonso needed to remove one toilet as the floor looked bad underneath. At that point, he noticed evidence of termite activity. We really appreciated his mentioning this so we could get an exterminator out promptly. Alfonso is repairing the floor before laying the waterproof vinyl. So far the floors look fabulous. Alfonso, with his assistants including his wife, work incredibly hard, and their work is neat and precise. A truck came to pick up the old carpeting, lino and garbage the next day. We never had to look at old crap lying around for long at all. I think the biggest factor in making this project a success is Jack himself. He is very friendly, easy to work with, informative, and seems to work 24/7. He's always available to answer any questions, and he asks a lot of excellent questions too. Jack never talked down to us even though we knew next to nothing about flooring or projects of this type. I am positive Jack gets requests for bids from much larger projects than our 1500 sf little house. However, you would not know that based on the level of attention Jack has given us through this whole process. There have been no surprises, and his rates are fair. (By comparison, the first bid we got was almost DOUBLE what VM Laminate charged us.) What Jack commits to happens. The fact all this has been accomplished in a very tight window is simply amazing. I would recommend VM Laminate Flooring, Jack and his crew without reservation. I will try to post pictures when everything is done. The previous reviews that gave VM a poor review are crazy. We decided to go with luxury/SPC vinyl flooring (yes, Jack's team doesn't just do laminate). The SPC vinyl is affordable and can also be used in bathrooms since it is waterproof. He came to our house to measure and gave us a detailed quote for materials and labor on the same day. For a 400 sf kitchen/family room job, his quote was a couple of $1,000s below (both for materials and labor) two other quotes from local establishments, but he did not carry the product that we wanted. We had to order the product ourselves (not a big deal). Installation went very smoothly with Eric as our installer. Demo and level the floor on day one, installation day two. We felt we could trust Eric, so we allowed him to let himself in on day two when we were not at home. Jack's quote for materials was a box of flooring short, so completion of the project had to wait until day 3, but Eric went to pick up the extra materials himself from the distribution point, saving us a trip to Hayward. The quality of the installation looks fantastic - so far, we haven't seen anything that we're unhappy with. It's a relatively small business, and Jack is keeping busy, so he doesn't always respond immediately to questions, but he generally got back to us before the end of the day. read more

It was little of the expensive side of the quote curve but what I like about Jack is... - He is very responsive. - He cared about the long term reliability of the project. Some of my tiles were moving. Instead of leaving the decision to me, he strongly recommended to remove the problem ones, level the flooring and then lay the SPC flooring. - When we started work, Luciano discovered that all tiles are installed badly by my builder and some were coming off by hand. We agreed to remove all tiles. Jack gave me a reasonable discount for the extra work effort. - He also recommended to go with the white risers for the stairs. - I didn't like the quarter rounds around my cabinet. So, we scrambled to get the trims instead. Jack took ownership and made sure to get the trims on time. He also hooked me up with a reference to paint the trim. - Luciano left the work areas as clean as possible. I moved most of the stuff out of the way. But, left the couch since it was heavy. They moved it around while working. - Post Installation, I discovered a place where the floor was moving. Jack came over promptly and took care of it.
