#3. Pho Tai - Pho Bo Vien

This is our favorite Vietnamese place in Nashville. We go here on Sundays for our Pho Sunday whenever we're in Nashville. Their service is quick, and the place is clean. What to know before you go: this is a cash only place. The parking lot is extremely limited, so try to go before it gets crowded. Parking is what takes one star off. Their pho is great, especially for Nashville pho. If you're someone who needs to eat pickled sliced onions like me, this place doesn't have them. No pho place in Nashville does. Sad, sad!

VN Pho is always one of the best spots every time I visit. The food is consistently delicious and the service is always great. This time I ordered the duck noodle soup, and it was so good! The broth was rich and flavorful, and the duck was cooked perfectly. The service and overall experience were excellent as always. If you're looking for great Vietnamese food, this place never disappoints. Highly recommend! Best atmosphere and clean.

Stopped in for a visit based on Reddit recommendations. Cash only and I'd certainly visit again. On a slightly drizzly Sunday afternoon, my friend and I had no trouble getting a table. I tried the mi vit tiem ($16.5) pork broth and roast duck soup because it was their Sunday special. I have nothing to compare this dish to, but it was delicious. The broth was just the right amount of savory, the shiitake mushrooms added an extra layer of flavor, and the roast duck was juicy, flavorful, and still held its own in an already flavor-packed bowl. I was delighted to see that they had bot chien ($13), fried rice cakes with egg. It's a food my grandma used to make for me. My personal preference is for a crispier rice cake, but these did the job. I tried my friend's pho and didn't like it as much, but she felt the same way about my noodles, so I'd love to come back and try other dishes next time I pass through Nashville.

    Bun Bo Hue

Met up with my son here to have lunch. Was really not sure what to try as they had lots of different options. Ultimately, we decided to both have the Bun Bo Hue. Needless to say... definitely delicious. The service was very friendly and it did not take too long to prepare our meal. The ambiance is very casual and laid back. Of note...there is not a lot of parking. The establishment is cash only and there is an ATM inside to get cash if you need to for a nominal fee.

We ordered pho and banh mi. Food was delicious and hit the spot but they only take cash. There is an ATM in the restaurant. Service was prompt and there was bit a long wait.

Great Pho soup in a not so great part of town. Found this little hidden spot via Yelp. The broth was very flavorful and the service was great. The restaurant was clean, but the ambiance was nothing over the top. I will say that it is a hard business to find as it is in the far back of a strip mall and very little parking (we had to actually park next door). Also, they only accept cash.

I can see why this is one of the best Pho spots in Nashville!!! Cash Only and parking lot is small but the service and the food makes up for that!!!

We came here wanting to order banh mi to go after eating Korean. However due to being labor day their banh mi sandwiches were all gone. We were told the banh mi was being made in house. We ended up getting their avocado smoothie and Vietnamese ice coffee. Their drinks were decently price. We definitely would come back here on our next visit to try their banh mi sandwiches. The staffs were nice.

Finally had an opportunity to try out VN Pho. Customer service was great. The restaurant is small, but that is okay the wait won't be long. The food comes out relatively fast but it is fresh. I had flank steak Pho, due to them being out of chicken for the evening which i'm glad I was able to try something different. They have multiple offerings on the menu, but pho just always hits the spot. My boyfriend had the egg rolls which he liked and he had the pho with 5 meats included, he also enjoyed that. I do recommend getting the red Thai tea and the passion fruit juice. Both were great compliments to our meal. Just remember this a cash only restaurant so be prepared. If not they have an atm on property. My only suggestion is if you drive parking is slim. So you may have to walk or take an uber. Either way I know you will love this local business.

Very nice Vietnamese restaurant. The Bahn Mi was huge and satisfying. We had tofu spring rolls, yum, tofu Bun bowl and a beef Pho. Everything was great. Fresh. The staff was very attentive, the place is very busy and extremely clean. We will be back! Thank you. Important to know, they take only cash (it is inexpensive but they also have an ATM machine in there) and the parking lot is small, however people are coming and going quickly, don't worry if you have to wait a few minutes.

Best hole in the wall Pho in nashville. I moved from NYC and this is spot on in comparison. The service is quick and friendly. They explained everything on the menu and the spices you can add. Their Pho is sweet and great. I like their Thai coffee too

The waiter was super helpful! The we had the stringy pork roll appetizer. It was wholly different but tasty. It's a good choice. The place is clean and has a good atmosphere. They were busy but fast workout food. The pho was good. I'd definitely come back.

Loved this place. Such a cozy place and perfect for a relaxed Sunday. There was a long line but they are efficient and the food comes quickly when you are waiting. Beef was fresh, broth was so rich and i love their shrimp spring rolls. Amazing

Do you guys still serve porridge?

The porridge is no longer available.

Hello, are you still open on Thursday?

Yes we were closed for a week for vacation but will reopen Thursday Aug 4th!

Is the restaurant doing curbside takeout, or do you have to go inside to do takeout?

Either or, whatever makes you feel comfortable, just let us know when placing the order.

Is this restaurant also a bakery, if so do you have mung bean Banh cam?

Yes. We offer homemade sweet asian buns that are made daily. Though we do not sell any banh cam. It’s more on the line of egg custard buns, bbq pork bun, steam pork bun etc

This is my favorite. The place is nothing to write home about, so you won't hear a lot about the atmosphere, other than it is authentic. The service is ma & pa style, with one person handling all of the orders. You pay at the counter after dinner. This was once cash only, but they added cards a few years ago. This is not just for the Pho, although the broth is rich and very satisfying. It is also for the items you don't normally find in non-traditional Vietnamese joints, like the Vietnamese pancakes. No, you won't find high end, like the one in Chicago, which really blends French and Viet cuisines, but this place is on point. The menu is exgtensive, so rather easy to find something you will like and big enough to come back to try things you never tried before. I have had better pho in my life, but you end up traveling to Round Rock, TX for Pho Huong or to Oklahoma City (they have a whole community not too far west of the Capitol Building. For here, this is the bomb. This time I had make your own Pho with the steak, flank, and meatballs. If I have one complaint, I prefer the beef to come out raw and let it lightly cook in the broth. I also grabbed some rolls to dip into the Pho Broth. In the past, I have grabbed the pancakes, which are also large and very tasty. Definitely a bit of the French crepe kind of feel, with an Asian flair. I did not get one, but they also do a basic bahn mi for $6.50, although I slightly prefer Huong Tofu on this particular item. If you have a party menu that is vegetarian, Kien Giang is an excellent choice, as they have a fairly extensive set of vegetarian choices.

Unfortunately, that's where the positive experience ended. There were two staff members present: one behind the bar and one in the dining are. After being seated, no one acknowledged us. We waited about 15 minutes without anyone offering water, taking our order, or even checking in. What made it more frustrating was when another guest came in and was immediately greeted and served water, while we were still being ignored. At that point, it became clear we weren't going to receive service, so we decided to leave. As we walked out, the staff watched us go without saying a word or attempting to address the situation. We ended up going to The Smiling Elephant, where we had a completely different experience--friendly service and great food. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.
