My friend and I were really looking forward to trying this restaurant before a show at Zanies. We had made reservations, but when we arrived, the place was completely empty, so reservations didn't seem necessary. We were seated right away and quickly decided what we wanted to order. Unfortunately, that's where the positive experience ended. There were two staff members present: one behind the bar and one in the dining are. After being seated, no one acknowledged us. We waited about 15 minutes without anyone offering water, taking our order, or even checking in. What made it more frustrating was when another guest came in and was immediately greeted and served water, while we were still being ignored. At that point, it became clear we weren't going to receive service, so we decided to leave. As we walked out, the staff watched us go without saying a word or attempting to address the situation. Why would you chop up the carrots and not the radish?? I fished out all the radish to chop it up (cutting only 3-4) and the amount of radish left is crazy (in photos). Love this local spot for delicious Vietnamese! Quick service, nice portions, quality meats, and fun casual atmosphere. Taking off a star for pricing, as it's at the top of what I'm willing to pay for pho. But the Imperial Rolls were worth the trip alone! Authentic and tasty- ask for extra lettuce to wrap them for a true Vietnamese treat. Pho is deeply flavorful and served nice and hot. This is a new owner that kept the name. Website Displaying Cheaper Prices, Pretty Sure That's Illegal? The website is displaying outdated food prices. My husband only drove there because the website said their Pho is $11, but now it's $19 on the menu in the resturant. We wouldn't have gone otherwise, it's illegal to display different prices on your website. The Pho was mediocre unfortunately, I had the stomach flu and was really looking forward to enjoying my favorite comfort food when I'm sick but this did not hit the mark, especially for the inflated price. We paid $60 for two bowls of pho that tasted terrible on reheat (which is normally the best part of Pho takeout). It was $10 extra per side of meatballs. Food: I ordered the shrimp pho and when it came out I was initially confused because I've never had pho where the herbs and bean sprout weren't served on a separate dish. There was no bean sprout which was particularly disappointing and I also do not love basil so I wish I had known it would be included in the bowl and not as a side as I'm used to. Broth was delicious and noodles were too, but $22 felt ridiculous when even the size of the bowl doesn't compare to a mom and pop pho restaurant where you can get double the size for half the price. Service and ambiance: The restaurant is very vibe-y, soft lighting and lofi beats setting it apart from your typical pho place. Their bun bo hue was probably the best bun Bo hue I've ever had. The perfect balance of noodles, broth, meat, veggies. That beef bone meat was very tender. It was spicier than any other bun bo hue I've had, which is preferred in my opinion. I also got the lemonade soda. I was so excited to see they had it. I always drink it when in Southeast Asia. It's rare to find anyone who makes it in our part of the United States. Vietnamese food in general is expensive to begin with and these prices are pretty high compared to other restaurants in town. We spent a hefty amount just for 2 ppl. It was nice to try the almost $30 bun bo hue tho. At least I know for next time. For the second time in about a year, we've made a deliberate trip across town to eat at this restaurant -- and for the second time, we've been turned away well before the posted closing time. The first time, we arrived about 30 minutes before closing and were told the kitchen was already shut down. Disappointing, but we gave them the benefit of the doubt. This second time, we showed up over an hour before closing, only to hear the same story: "We've decided to close early." There was no acknowledgement of the inconvenience or any explanation whatsoever which made it even more shocking and unacceptable. I've worked in the restaurant industry. I understand the desire to wrap up and go home-- but if early closures are routine, that should be reflected in your posted hours. Otherwise, it just feels like a blatant disregard for your customers' time and effort. There's a difference between understandable and unprofessional. Closing early once is understandable. Doing it repeatedly -- without warning -- is poor business. At the very least, a quick update to your website or social media could prevent people from wasting their time. This isn't about one missed meal. It's about consistency, respect for your patrons, and a lack of transparency. I'm sharing this so others know what to expect -- or, unfortunately, what not to. read more
