Okay, so the only reason I didn't give 5 was the cost. They had surge pricing for LSU game weekend and - I kid you not - I paid just under $800 / night. Now don't get me wrong, I agreed to it otherwise I would have been sleeping in my car or driving 30 mins ea way from Jefferson City. But it's kind of like pricing gas at $10 / gal when there's a hurricane. So past that it was all good. My room was massive - almost to the point of "what's the point of having all this space?" Separate living / entertaining room and about a 30 x 20 bedroom and huge bathroom. Jacuzzi tub, separate shower, auto blinds and a few other perks. Location is great as is Glen's Cafe (fabulous wine list) and all the bars inside. Room service was prompt and delicious. Reminds me a bit of McMenamins Bar/Hotels around Portland, OR. I did valet car because $25/day is a steal compared to any other hotel I've stayed and parking around the area is very challenging. I would definitely stay again minus the ridiculous cost. read more

Loved our mid October stay at The Tiger! This great vintage hotel has a fun lowkey vibe that is most welcome. Staff was uniformly welcoming, helpful, and informed. Our room was clean and comfortable. We LOVED Love Coffee in the lobby area and enjoyed their lattes each morning during our stay. Glenn's Cafe (est. 1028!) served excellent food and their wait staff was outstanding. The standout for us was Twain - a speakeasy bar in the lower level of The Tiger. Great BBQ food - all local to Missouri - great ambiance and wonderful beer or cocktails. The staff here was so helpful and couteous. We enjoyed the leather backed chairs and a cocktail as we looked out the large windows to the streets of Columbia outside. A good night! Only criticism/suggestion: housekeeping in the public (specifially elevator areas on floor 2) could be substantially improved. read more

I can't offer any comments on the cleanliness, room size or friendliness of the staff. (Though judging from some of the reviews here, I'm supposing these are on par with the business practices.) What I can comment on is the completely inept and unethical business practices of the staff and manager of the Tiger Hotel. I'll try for the short version: I booked rooms here for 2 of our staff to attend a meeting at the Univ of Mo. 7 days before the meeting date, one of these persons could no longer attend the meeting, so I changed the name on the reservation. I received an updated confirmation clearly showing 2 rooms had been booked, but still showing the name of the person I was cancelling for. I called the hotel to confirm that all was correct. At check-in, the 2 travelers paid with separate credit cards and were again assured that there was not a third room. Guess what!? We had a "no show" fee of one night posted to the corporate card used to reserve the room. I contacted the hotel and was denied a refund. We contacted the hotel manager (at least 3 times), we opened a case with IGH corporate. I have provided documentation and a timeline for everything at least twice, but am still waiting on my refund. The Bottom line here is that we reserved 2 room, have a confirmation that states such and we paid for 2 rooms. Changes were made well within the hotel's change/cancellation policy, but we have not been able to get this refunded. Do not stay here if you have any other options. read more

Loved my stay here. A few things of note, for me: comfortable beds but the layout of the room is odd: no way to watch tv except for sitting on the bed. I found that weird. I appreciate that they provide full-sized soap products instead of sample sizes. Why don't more hotels do this?? It's so less wasteful. Keurigs in the room and a full bar for those of you who get twitchy if you're not surrounded by small bottles of liquor. No temperature control in the room but thankfully the room was warm enough for me (I run cold, typically). When I was here it was damp and rainy and gloomy but I wasn't cold in my room. That surprised me. If you're into baths, the tub is a big, deep, soaker. I didn't have time nor inclination to use it, but some of you out there will be jazzed by this! Friendly, helpful, professional staff offset the painfully slow elevators- but what kind of hurry are you in, anyway? The Tiger is the best hotel in Columbia. It has the best ratings; It's close to the university; it's walking distance to downtown restaurants and it has a staff that is committed to ensuring its guests are pleased with the hotel? How can I so confidently claim that the staff is committed to solving problems? During my stay the Hotel's Manager went above and beyond his duty to quickly solve a problem with my reservations You see, I prepaid for five nights at the Tiger in mid July 2024. I had called to confirm my reservation a week before arriving. Unfortunately, my plane from PHX was delayed in DFW, I did not arrive until after midnight in St. Louis. By then, it was too late to rent a car for my drive to Columbia. But the next morning, I rose early and drove to the Tiger. At 9:00AM the Tiger's desk clerk informed me that my prepaid reservation at the Tiger from the previous night was automatically voided by the reservation system. Yikes, I feared that I was out $800+!!!! "But, I'm here I said". "I'm nine hours late, and the hotel has been paid for." I asked to speak to the manager. The very polite desk clerk explained that unfortunately it was Sunday morning and the manager was at church with his family. Sensing that I was somewhat bothered, Tiger's ever-cheerful clerk informed me that there were still 'plenty' of rooms available at the hotel and I could check in (and pay a second time!) for my visit. I chose to pass on the offer, grumpily asked to speak to the manager and walked around the corner for an early brunch. BY THE TIME I FINISHED BREAKFAST, THE HOTEL MANAGER HAD CALLED IN AND MY RESERVATION WAS REINSTATED. There are very few other hotels whose manager would step away from 'family time' to promptly override a corporate system and soothe a grumpy client. The rest of my visit at the Tiger was perfect. I cannot say enough about our stay at the Tiger Hotel. From accommodating an emergency early check-in at 8:30 am to Ericka at the front desk going over and above to help us out, the hotel and staff exceeded all expectations. While the hotel itself is almost 100 years old the rooms are as modern as you'd expect these days. The king sized bed was firm but comfortable. The bathtub alone deserves its own review! It was huge and deep. However, do be aware that shorter folks or those with mobility issues may have trouble getting into and out of the tub. Since the building is so old it may not be as accessible as some might need. As I said before, the tub could pose an issue for those whose mobility may be limited. However, I don't know if there are other options. The elevators are kind of small and while a regular wheelchair would fit, I'm not sure that an extra wide one would. There is a parking garage right across the street and hourly parking caps out at $5.00 which is a bargain for hotel parking. They also offer valet service for $18.00 per day. The Tiger Hotel is smack dab in the center of a very eclectic downtown area with plenty of dining, drinking, and shopping options all within an easy few blocks walking distance. Ericka at the front desk was very knowledgeable of the area and gave us several excellent recommendations. And my wife and I felt perfectly safe in the area while walking around. I'll end by saying that The Tiger isn't the cheapest hotel option but, for us, it was worth every cent we spent there. Will definitely be our go-to hotel when we're in the COMO area. Housekeeping came on day one but not day two for some reason. There is a godawful chemical smell in my room. But those are minor issues. At 10:30 at night while I was asleep a man UNLOCKED MY DOOR AND WALKED INTO MY ROOM. When I woke up startled he immediately ran out. I called the front desk and said "someone just walked into my room" and the guest services person said "oh yeah, that's our house-man. He just got confused. Sorry." They have subsequently made NO attempt to contact me or make things right. Dinner on them? A discount in the room? People make mistakes, but having a strange man walk into a sleeping guest's room isn't a small mistake for a luxury hotel, *it is genuinely the entire ball game.* Couple that with absolutely no attempt on the hotel's part to make amends, and I am forced to say that no one in their right mind should stay here. read more

They say here in Columbia the only 2 nice hotels are the Broadway and the Tiger. Let me start by saying these are basically "Hampton Inn Plus" type accomodations, with a bar. We're here to talk about the Tiger though. So, upon arrival there are TWO TINY ELEVATORS and GUESS WHAT: ONE HAS BEEN BROKEN FOR ABOUT A YEAR. So everyone in this 9 story hotel will be using an elevator that, I kid you not, is the size of one you'd find in a custom home. Ie, 4 x 4 feet abos-freakin-lutely tiny. Did you get your COVID shot? Because you will smell your companions breath and god help you.. body odor. Its uncomforable with 4 adults and nearly unbearable with 5. I saw six college age kids get out. Cherry on top: NO AIR CONDITIONING FOR YOU IN YOUR TINY COFFIN. Thats right, they failed to spend the dough to make it a comfortable ride. About that body odor and breath.. OH, and its DEATHLY SLOW. So good luck to you if you plan on staying during any kind of busy weekend. Now, on to the rest of it: Their dining area is closed - but the coffee and bakery shop seems acceptable. When you arrive, I hope you enjoy lugging bags up the stairs.. to the tiny elevator. If you're lucky, a valet will greet and assist you. We were not lucky. The bathroom is stocked with nice amenities, but the shower cube is small and when turning it on you get.. to have it shower all over your arm with nice cold water while you adjust it. Am I missing the Broadway? I mean.. I don't know. To each their own. At least they have normal elevators, but these bathrooms here at the Tiger appear nicer. Need anything? There are a few issues with this hotel: 1. The first room I was sent to hadn't been cleaned at all. 2. I had to ask for housekeeping to come at 5:30pm the next day because they hadn't come yet. 3. After my second night, housekeeping pounded in my door at 10am even though the dnd sign was on & it was well before checkout. 4. Something is wrong with the windows in the room & there is a high pitched howling from the wind all day & night. Impossible to sleep at all. 5. A room on my floor was having a party with at least 5 people staying in the room. They were running up & down the hallways yelling & pounding on doors until we'll after 11pm. The hotel was nice, and I had a 2 night stay. At the end of my stay, I paid my bill and I noticed an employee healthcare fee of $7.77. I don't understand how they can charge a fee for their employees benefit package to the cost of the room rate. There was also a destination fee of $4 per night and I don't know why this was added to my bill. read more

For how expensive our stay was, I was very disappointed. The hotel itself is pretty, but our room was very blah. I was especially disappointed by the view from our window and patio, which was of the dirty rooftop. We paid extra to have the patio, and I felt a little scammed. They shouldn't have a patio with this view. There was also a sign on the patio about it being an AT&T antenna site and radio frequency exceeding FCC exposure limits. The sign wasn't attached to anything, so I don't know where it belonged, but it did not make me feel safe. The patio doors didn't close well. One morning, a big gust of wind blew the doors in, even though we had them locked, and I couldn't close them until the wind stopped. We were actually excited to stay here as we travel quite a bit and the website looked promising! Given that I travel for a living, stay at a different hotel almost every week with work, I'd like to say that I am a subject matter expert in the field of hotel accommodations. Upon arriving, the cute downtown Columbia streets were adorned with decor. Love the feel!!! We pulled up to the historic hotel ready to experience what Columbia had to offer. We parked street side at check in. We had luggage in hand and opened the door. I would have liked to have a doorman greet us and assist with luggage or understanding where to go to navigate the front desk, but no one was there. If you are disabled or have issues with stairs, I can't say you will have an easy time there. I wouldn't be able to tell you how to get up 2 flights of stairs that meet you at the front door to get to the front desk. I certainly didn't see an elevator awaiting and promptly lugged my suitcase up the stairs. The wooden handrails, marble floors, chandeliers and colors made you feel like you were entering a beautifully unique and yester-year time! The lobby was very pretty and on each side were places to dine and drink. The masked staff greeted us with kindness and a smile. The room was ready at 3pm and the check in was smooth. I am not a member of their program and was surprised that I wasn't offered more information or asked about how I could become a member. We were placed on the 4th floor and given our keys. We were allowed to leave our car for the moment as we made our way to our room to drop off our luggage, no concierge or bellman to assist. The elevators were clearly from the original building, small, but they worked! Upon entering the hallway, you can tell that it's been renovated. Our room was beautiful. The decor was modern. A better explanation of how to work the electric blinds (which switch and location) would have been helpful. Fully stocked minibar was never used by us. Not much of a view but we weren't there to stare out the windows. The bed was extremely comfortable. Feather pillows offered and no extra foam pillows in the closet. I should have asked for them as my allergies kicked in the 1st night. Here are a few items that could improve the rooms... Having an updated USB outlet for apple phones. I had my cord but no brick to plug in, they have an antiquated radio charger for an iPhone 2, on the night stand, so maybe a technology update? Label the switches and digital buttons so we can understand how to work the blinds and turn on the do not disturb on the sign outside the room without having to open the door in our PJs!! The tub is huge! Almost obnoxious! If you have any disability or can't scale a wall to get into the shower, then forget it! There is no bar or safety feature to climb the 4ft wall to the tub to stand on the shower. The phone next to the toilet (maybe to call 911 getting out of the shower) doesn't work! So why is it there? So they place a cordless phone on the desk with no indication on what button to push to dial the desk! The windows are drafty! It was 15 degrees outside and we purposefully left the blinds closed to stop the cold air from seeping into the room and turned the heat up to accommodate for the cold air! There are two parking choices, valet ($18) and self parking in the garage (about 30 spaces at $5 per night). The hotel was fun, we look forward to visiting again and trying the Vault and other dining options. Love the location, the local eateries and the staff! We would absolutely come back! read more

This hotel is great. Really enjoying it, and only been here a few hours. Love the Boutique small feel. The valet, and the front desk staff, were great. We dealt with Brie (Bri?) both at check-in and check-out, as well as when we had to call to request something. She was consistently pleasant and helpful, AND she made us feel welcome. Really liked her, great service. Nice modern touches for this historic hotel. Sometimes when I see "historic," I read it as "old." Not here. Room was clean, lobby was clean, lots of modern amenities (yes, the electric controls for the blinds are indeed a cool thing). Plenty of space, too, in the room. The only reason I knocked a star off is the pillows. They're huge but way too firm. And I am a fan of firm pillows, but these were out of control, break your neck firm. I mean, sometimes you can opt to use only one of the two pillows, but even one of these is the size of the Emprire State Building. Ok, you get the point. I did find the mattress comfortable. And the bathroom was huge and very nice. We would absolutely stay here again. Location is also great. We ate at Room 38, which was excellent, and there are several great coffee shops nearby (we loved Coffee Zone). Glenn's, the restaurant next to and/or part of The Tiger Hotel, looked pretty good itself, by the way. We liked this area of Columbia and really enjoyed The TIger Hotel. And valet parking was easy, quick, and inexpensive (I think it was $15). A little hard to find, though (JOKE - there is a HUGE red neon TIGER sign). read more

The Tiger Hotel - The luxury of the past My husband and I traveled to Columbia, MO for 4 days and stayed at the Tiger hotel. We were under them impression this was the *best* hotel in the area, and for $240.00/night you would expect it to be. Our expectations were *not* met on many levels. Our complaints are as follows: 1. Parking: there is no free parking as you are down town. Directly across from the hotel is a city owned parking garage which operates meters from 8am-6pm M-F at 50c/hr ($5 to park there all day). If you get a ticket (which we did at 8:05am) it is $15. OR you can pay the hotel to valet park your car (in the parking garage) $18 over night + $5/2 hrs up to $18 during the day. So up to $36 a day to the hotel to park in the same city parking garage- which is CRAZY for this area. This is Columbia, MO, not Chicago. 2. The Smell: When you walk into the hotel the smell is not inviting. It took me a little while to place it, but it's the kitchen smell from the next door restaurant and mold from the water damaged peeling ceiling in the lobby. Again, not what you would expect from a "luxury" hotel. 3. The Room: when you walk in the room looks nice and luxurious, until you start to pay attention to the details. The comforter, which is also the only blanket, was severely wrinkled and so were the sheets on the bed. The towels were scratchy and some had stains making them less than white. And the windows showing the amazing views of down town were very dirty. These are things that typically would not bother me that much, except for the quality did not line up with the price paid. 4. The Bathroom: there is a beautiful spa bathtub in the bathroom, but it is not very functional or safe. It's 22" tall and was very hard to get in and out of safely (I'm 5'5" and my husband is 6'). The towel rack is lose and almost coming off the wall because you have to use it to get out of the tub without slipping or falling. In addition to this design flaw there is mold all around the tub from lack of caulking and maintenance, which really steals that spa feeling. When was the last time management actually went into these rooms? 5. Advertising: as part of the amenities advertised they list Apple charging stations... which there are, but for Apple products a decade ago with the wide charger ports. It's also advertised that there is a mini fridge in the room, which is true, except it's the packed with over priced alcohol and you cannot use it at all. The TV was also disappointing, it's only basic cable, not even a "guide" option. Most up to date hotels now have smart TV's and you can access your own Netflix or Hulu accounts. I'm guessing the hotel was "Luxury" at some point, but now it's out dated and missing the mark. 6. Housekeeping: We stayed at the hotel for 4 days and housekeeping did not empty our trash once. Nor did they vacuum. All they did was make the bed and put out clean towels. These again are the things that stand out as *not* being luxury. This hotel is obviously a money making machine. It's not about how well they can take care of their guests for the price paid for the room, but how can more money be extracted and paid (like the deceptive parking situation). I've stayed at Holiday Inn's and La Quinta's that are more "luxurious" and certainly more accommodating than this hotel. Most of the reviews online talk about how wonderful the staff is - we did find this to be the case most of the time. Heather was very sweet and helpful. Although we did find the manager Chuck to come across as arrogant, rude, and unaccommodating. This hotel has potential, but we do feel deceived from the advertising. Do yourself a favor- don't stay here. We stayed for 4 nights in a king room,nothing special. It was $1122 &some change...Let's start from the beginning- it says after a certain time of eve on Friday parking in the garage next door to the Tiger is free. This is true. The fact that there are so few parking spaces makes it a bit of joke. Check in was fine, going up to the room via elevator was fine- other than the tiny elevators but I get it, they're old. Room was spacious. The room was also 80 degrees upon entry. We tried to turn down the a/c and nothing was working. It was so dark so we lifted the shades to see to call the desk to see if someone could come and fix it. There were 3 phones in the room- NONE OF THEM work- so I called from my cell phone. The person promptly came To check to see if he could do anything about it. He said it didn't appear anything was wrong and suggested we close the shades, and stated windows are a source of heat. Really? They've only been lifted for a few minutes and it's only 72 outside. It shouldn't be 80 in our room no matter what. He left and said if it didn't kick on soon, call the desk again and we could move rooms. After he left my wife turned it off and on again, and then it started blowing cool air. We relaxed for a bit then headed out for dinner. Trying to take the elevator down- well, it didn't happen. So we took the 6 flights of steps down, so I'm glad we were both capable of doing so without any problems. I was later told by someone that because the elevators are so old that you have to hold the button to go down until you hear the elevator running. Turns out, that worked. We were in town for a music festival- so long days in the sun- we wanted fresh sheets after a couple of nights and needed extra wash cloths- I turned on the "housekeeping" option by the door which is digital, since our room was untouched for two days. Third morning we ordered room service- of course the phones were still not working so I called the desk from my phone and was transferred over to the cafe. I told the front desk when I called, that again NONE OF OUR PHONES WORK- Glenn's Cafe is great and I'll get to them- so when they transferred my call I placed my order and was told 30-40 mins - totally fine. During the time period of about 40mins - our phone beeped a couple of times. When we picked up the cordless , it just died .. fast forward a few more minutes- a knock at the door to let us know the cafe was trying to contact us about our order- and to call them. Sure sure- will Do. Turns out they were out of something and so we needed to change our order. They bumped our order to the top and it arrived quickly, correct, hot, and they didn't charge for my mimosa. We head out for day 3 of the festival - ask the front desk for housekeeping to do their thing. Ask specifically for wash cloths , coffee, creamer, and toilet paper. We were totally out of toilet paper and had used all of the Kleenex at that point. When we returned that night, the sheets had been changed and we got fresh towels and cloths. What we didn't get was toilet paper or Kleenex. Glad I had some Kleenex in my purse. My Wife's pajamas were also randomly moved and sitting on the coffee table??????!!!!Why move them from The chair in the first place? I'd like to add that I hope you either like HGTV or cartoons- because you only get a few channels that are actually clear. The morning we checked out I was so irritated by it all I was happy to go. Now- what is nice- the convenient location- but that's not worth $1100 to me at all. With all of this mess the highlight of staying there was the staff at Glenn's Cafe & Oyster Bar (not the Vault or tap room, we were barley served at the vault and were not served in the tap room- he said he would serve us one drink a piece but then we had to leave as it had been slow all night and they decided to close) Oyster bar staff were absolutely fabulous- specifically Allie, Kurt, Caleb, and Klay. Allie went above and beyond, a hard worker and earns what I hope are good tips because she certainly deserves them! Klay took great care of us at the music festival at the Glenn's Cafe pop up there. Kurt was prompt and helpful with the menu, both food and drinks. He made sure everything was great and that we always had what we needed. Caleb was inviting and made great drink suggestions. We will go back to the music festival again, we will go back to Glenn's Cafe, but will not be staying at the Tiger. What a joke. Oh! And what I forgot to add- I hope you don't have thick hair, because good luck washing it in the trickle of water that comes out of the shower head... and the toilet stool was hella wobbly. read more

I never once smoked in the room, and have the electronic trail to prove I was taking the elevator to the lobby repeatedly to smoke. Manager Nadia has done absolutely nothing to remedy the situation. Stayed here for New Years Eve. I've stayed in many hotels in CoMo and this has been by far the BEST! The rooms and views are gorgeous and the staff very friendly. When you walk into the hotel, you feel the immediate sense of luxury and elegance with the antique chandelier and the decorations. Plenty of options on site for bar and food. Located in the middle of downtown Columbia so lots of dining options and entertainment just a short walk away. Walking into the room I was taken aback with the gorgeous view and location and the room itself was spotless and very chic. I loved it and my husband and I are already planning my next "staycation" here. read more

For our one night stay in Columbia, we had high hopes for the Tiger Hotel. Unfortunately it was a negative experience from the very start. I booked our stay through the hotel's website and selected the package that included overnight valet parking. I have a screenshot and email receipt to prove it, but when I spoke with the representative at the front desk, he said that it wasn't included and was very dismissive and rude. His attitude overall was condescending, and we were too tired from our six hour drive to argue our case. Instead we ended up paying for street parking, and my fiance woke up early to ensure that the meter was paid to avoid a ticket. In addition to this, the mini fridge was completely full of the hotel's expensive liquors and snacks, leaving no room for our own food & beverages. The room itself was decent though it did feel outdated and not necessarily worth the price tag. Just a poor experience in general, and we will not be staying at any IHG owned hotels going forward. We went out for the night thinking the heat would kick in, when we came back it was 62 degrees. Went back to the front desk to ask what the next steps are and was given another heater. Talked to a couple in the elevator who was on their 3rd room because of the heat. We were never offered a second room. Won't be staying here in our future visits. read more

Wonderful location. Staff and Valet very attentive but there were problems with the room. We found and an old sock on the floor from previous guest, how could the floors be cleaned, and sock missed. We were never given a new unopened bar of soap for the bathroom. I took the steps and at bottom of steps no sign to warn a HUGE step was there, slammed my ankle. read more

Very disappointed. We just drove 10 hours from Denver, and needed sleep to driver another 10. They put us in a handicap room, which is fine- but not requested. The A/C unit literally sounded like a plane was taking off in our room. I am NOT exaggerating. I called the front desk after 2 hours of trying to sleep, and when I asked if ALL the rooms sounded like this, he said, " no mam". Like he was fully aware of the extreme noise in that particular room. We did NOT get any sort of apology for all these issues - as if it's standard at this hotel to be moved to different rooms. We changed rooms (with someone literally waiting outside our door to "inspect us" which was super weird). The next room was like NIGHT AND DAY. It was MUCH nicer and the A/C was super quiet. We finally got about 6 hours of sleep before getting back on the road. OH!! And top it all off, the front desk tried to accuse us of taking/buying a "Tiger mug" that cost $10 from the room. When we said we did not take that, he asked us how "many were there when you got there?" ....If you expect me to take inventory of mugs when I arrive to a hotel after a 10 hour drive, you're highly mistaken sir. Do not stay here. If Hotwire books you here, get your money back and run in the opposite direction. If I could give them no stars I would. Unprofessional, run down, SCAM ARTISTS! I was charged over 500.00 in just fees for "damage to the hotel" that never took place. I contacted the hotel 3 times requesting that I be contacted by the manager, ( he still never contacted me ) called again and finally spoke with him and he was rude and purposely trying to aggravate me. This hotel has a long history of over charging and price gouging their guests. If you don't believe me, simply do a google search to see the many NEWS articles about them price gouging and running up guests credit cards with unauthorized fees. As someone that travels frequently I am completely disgusted by my experience here and I've reached out to every news station in Columbia to bring awareness to this issue because I'm not the first or last guest that they've taken advantage of. Tried to file a complaint with the BBB and guess what?? They are not BBB accredited. Filing a travel complaint with us.gov as well. If you've had an experience like mine I'd encourage you to do the same. I've also contacted an attorney that has helped other guests with this hotel. I hope this helps! Tiger Hotel is a boutique hotel located smack dab in the middle of Downtown Columbia. It's an old hotel with updated amenities. The lobby is unique and tastefully decorated. They have a small gym for guests and a candy store, bar, breakfast place, and cupcakery all housed on the bottom floors. I don't know if they have any self-parking but you can valet with the hotel and they park it right across the street. I forgot to check how much it cost but I don't think there are any other options. As for the real meat of the review...the rooms. Decoration wise, they weren't that great. It kinda felt like you were in a boring hotel but the amenities made up for that. -Electronic display you can control from the inside you can change to "do not disturb" or various other options -Electronic curtains controlled by a bedside button (FANCY) -And the best part: a massive, beautiful and updated bathroom. The tub is seriously 2-3x the size of a normal bathtub. All in all, a pretty swanky stay for a basic room but it doesn't quite have the full charm/swank you might find in a bigger city boutique hotel. I will probably stay here again over The Broadway [Doubletree] just down the street. read more

Check your bill closely. I booked this business trip through a third party (Hotwire) and was still charged $54 for my co-workers rental car, which he was also charged for using his credit card. When I called to ask why, Heather at the front desk couldn't help me at all. When I contacted Hotwire, who then called the hotel and spoke to Heather, she suddenly knew why I was being charged. Basically, they have a lack of professionalism and customer service. Plus, the room was dirty (had to request that they change the sheets from the previous guest and give me clean towels) and the maid stole my M&Ms. I wish I could give them negative stars. read more

I'm currently staying here and thought I would write a review as this place has exceeded expectations. The historic building is so cool! My room on the 8th floor is very cozy. Downstairs you have a lively cafe with great food, the cutest little old timey candy store, and a popular bar. The location couldn't be better! Every show (Blue Note) and restaurant I've been to has been a 5 minute walk or less. Just lovely! I will always stay here always now when I'm in town. read more

We stayed one night recently and had a very good experience. In short: there was a lot of snow and we unexpectedly needed a place to go. Tiger let us check in at noon and gave us a discount rate on a small suite. It was expensive, but a good value as hotels go. The staff was attentive but relaxed, and quite friendly. A few challenges we offered up were handled very nicely by the valet and bell staff. The room itself was luxurious, including a jacuzzi tub, nice views, and a super comfortable bed. Lots of attention to details with things like switches and outlets by the bed, reading lamps, nice pillows. The location of this hotel simply could not be better if you want to enjoy the town and/or campus. Quibbles. A few. You decide for yourself how serious these are - I took off one star. First, the exercise equipment is poor. There is a decent set of free weights and a mat floor, but the machines were not good quality. My husband was afraid to run on the treadmill. He thought he would break it. Second, what is up with that restaurant, the Vault... we could make no sense of what that place was trying to be. Look up the menu online - if it matters to you what the restaurant in the hotel offers, you might be disappointed. However, you don't have to care as long as you are able to walk a block or two; you'll have lots of other choices. We waded through the snow around the corner to the Broadway Brewery and were delighted with their menu as well as the fresh beer, so we were happy. read more

In the 20+ years living in Columbia, I've not had so much as ONE good night hosted at the tiger hotel. Between mediocre and overpriced rooms, unprofessional staff and horrible parking practices I am truly at a loss. I'm usually a proponent for Columbia MO staples, however this is not one of those staples, the Tiger is an embarrassment. You're probably better off using Airbnb in a downtown condo/apt than this place. One night I was out with my GF and her car was towed from a space in the garage with no signage of the tow company warning. Reported them to the BBB and they paid to have the case covered up, total spineless inconsiderate worthless punks for management. Don't waste your time with this building that should be condemned, blighted and torn down. Go elsewhere. read more

Wonderful hotel that I think has moved past its initial growing pains (see previous reviews). I just finished a 2 night stay and I had a really great experience. Great location, great staff and the room was really comfortable and nice. Modern rooms in a wonderfully restored building with lots of original charm. Fast, free Wi-Fi, gorgeous bathroom - my only complaint might be lack (if any?) of ice machines. I sought one out but quickly gave up. I booked in advance and managed to get a great price per night. I would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Columbia - I know I'll be booking again. read more

This hotel has horrible customer service. After arriving at the hotel and immediately getting into the bed I started itching in random places. THe itching kept getting worse I till around two hours I was so miserable I called down to to the front desk who offered a pill I could not take but even then would not allow me to get back in the bed. Exhausted I laid down on the floor for two more hours until getting no sleep, in pain from the ground, and miserable I decide to leave. I requested a refund and they refused to give it. If this hotel can not stand by its customers and their experience when it was such a nightmare experience then it does NOT deserve to be a 4 star hotel. I intend to tell all my friends, co-workers, Missouri alumni friends in the area and surrounding states to NEVER use this hotel. read more

My fiancé and I stayed here over Christmas weekend, while in town visiting relatives. After hearing my friends and family talk about the renovation of this hotel, I was actually looking forward to staying here. Unfortunately, several of the special touches you would expect from a hotel in this price range were, sadly, missing. First of all, common sense would dictate that a bar of soap would be placed in the shower/bathtub as well as on the bathroom sink. Those tiny bars cannot possibly cost anything, and providing an extra would have made a much better initial impression. As it was, this failure to think things through made me wonder what else could be lacking. The king size bed was comfortable; however, the bedding (sheets, pillowcases, comforter) was bargain basement caliber at best. A hotel that bills itself as premium should really invest in high-thread count cotton sheets and pillow cases and high quality down comforters. The coffee station in the room was under supplied, providing only two Keurig cups and two creamers. Seriously? With no other coffee available (other than for sale at nearby restaurants) this seems laughable. I will say that the staff were courteous, if not especially helpful, and the room, hallway, and lobby area were very clean. Still, after all the hype over the "new" Tiger Hotel, I was disappointed. We will be trying the Broadway next time we're in town. read more

Called a year in advance for a graduation weekend booking for 2019. I was told that my name was on the waitlist because these dates weren't open yet in their system, but they would send me a confirmation email in January when it was confirmed. When I called in November to check on the booking, they said they had no records of me calling or being on the waitlist, so now I am scrambling to find another hotel for that weekend. read more
