    King room

Loved my stay here. A few things of note, for me: comfortable beds but the layout of the room is odd: no way to watch tv except for sitting on the bed. I found that weird. I appreciate that they provide full-sized soap products instead of sample sizes. Why don't more hotels do this?? It's so less wasteful. Keurigs in the room and a full bar for those of you who get twitchy if you're not surrounded by small bottles of liquor. No temperature control in the room but thankfully the room was warm enough for me (I run cold, typically). When I was here it was damp and rainy and gloomy but I wasn't cold in my room. That surprised me. If you're into baths, the tub is a big, deep, soaker. I didn't have time nor inclination to use it, but some of you out there will be jazzed by this! Friendly, helpful, professional staff offset the painfully slow elevators- but what kind of hurry are you in, anyway? I would most definitely stay here the next time i'm in Columbia and recommend this establishment. Great location adjacent to all campuses and everything downtown!

Windows were so dirty I couldn't see outside.

There are a few issues with this hotel: 1. The first room I was sent to hadn't been cleaned at all. 2. I had to ask for housekeeping to come at 5:30pm the next day because they hadn't come yet. 3. After my second night, housekeeping pounded in my door at 10am even though the dnd sign was on & it was well before checkout. 4. Something is wrong with the windows in the room & there is a high pitched howling from the wind all day & night. Impossible to sleep at all. 5. A room on my floor was having a party with at least 5 people staying in the room. They were running up & down the hallways yelling & pounding on doors until we'll after 11pm. I had to call multiple times about them.

    Sign on the patio

For how expensive our stay was, I was very disappointed. The hotel itself is pretty, but our room was very blah. I was especially disappointed by the view from our window and patio, which was of the dirty rooftop. We paid extra to have the patio, and I felt a little scammed. They shouldn't have a patio with this view. There was also a sign on the patio about it being an AT&T antenna site and radio frequency exceeding FCC exposure limits. The sign wasn't attached to anything, so I don't know where it belonged, but it did not make me feel safe. The patio doors didn't close well. One morning, a big gust of wind blew the doors in, even though we had them locked, and I couldn't close them until the wind stopped. Valet parking was $18/day, and there was no other dedicated parking, so we had to keep moving our car between meters and the garage across the street.

The Tiger Hotel - The luxury of the past My husband and I traveled to Columbia, MO for 4 days and stayed at the Tiger hotel. We were under them impression this was the *best* hotel in the area, and for $240.00/night you would expect it to be. Our expectations were *not* met on many levels. Our complaints are as follows: 1. Parking: there is no free parking as you are down town. Directly across from the hotel is a city owned parking garage which operates meters from 8am-6pm M-F at 50c/hr ($5 to park there all day). If you get a ticket (which we did at 8:05am) it is $15. OR you can pay the hotel to valet park your car (in the parking garage) $18 over night + $5/2 hrs up to $18 during the day. So up to $36 a day to the hotel to park in the same city parking garage- which is CRAZY for this area. This is Columbia, MO, not Chicago. 2. The Smell: When you walk into the hotel the smell is not inviting. It took me a little while to place it, but it's the kitchen smell from the next door restaurant and mold from the water damaged peeling ceiling in the lobby. Again, not what you would expect from a "luxury" hotel. 3. The Room: when you walk in the room looks nice and luxurious, until you start to pay attention to the details. The comforter, which is also the only blanket, was severely wrinkled and so were the sheets on the bed. The towels were scratchy and some had stains making them less than white. And the windows showing the amazing views of down town were very dirty. These are things that typically would not bother me that much, except for the quality did not line up with the price paid. 4. The Bathroom: there is a beautiful spa bathtub in the bathroom, but it is not very functional or safe. It's 22" tall and was very hard to get in and out of safely (I'm 5'5" and my husband is 6'). The towel rack is lose and almost coming off the wall because you have to use it to get out of the tub without slipping or falling. In addition to this design flaw there is mold all around the tub from lack of caulking and maintenance, which really steals that spa feeling. When was the last time management actually went into these rooms? 5. Advertising: as part of the amenities advertised they list Apple charging stations... which there are, but for Apple products a decade ago with the wide charger ports. It's also advertised that there is a mini fridge in the room, which is true, except it's the packed with over priced alcohol and you cannot use it at all. The TV was also disappointing, it's only basic cable, not even a "guide" option. Most up to date hotels now have smart TV's and you can access your own Netflix or Hulu accounts. I'm guessing the hotel was "Luxury" at some point, but now it's out dated and missing the mark. 6. Housekeeping: We stayed at the hotel for 4 days and housekeeping did not empty our trash once. Nor did they vacuum. All they did was make the bed and put out clean towels. These again are the things that stand out as *not* being luxury. This hotel is obviously a money making machine. It's not about how well they can take care of their guests for the price paid for the room, but how can more money be extracted and paid (like the deceptive parking situation). I've stayed at Holiday Inn's and La Quinta's that are more "luxurious" and certainly more accommodating than this hotel. Most of the reviews online talk about how wonderful the staff is - we did find this to be the case most of the time. Heather was very sweet and helpful. Although we did find the manager Chuck to come across as arrogant, rude, and unaccommodating. This hotel has potential, but we do feel deceived from the advertising. The price we paid was not on level with the room or service that was provided.

It was so perfect that I was able to walk everywhere I needed to be or where I wanted to go. My room was on the sixth floor and faced Broadway. The room was spacious and the bed was super comfy. I loved the pillows and will most likely be ordering the same brand for my home. The room had a closet that stored a full size ironing board and iron. It also had a small icebox and a safe for valuables. There was also an easy chair for relaxing and reading. The television was huge and had a personalized message welcoming me, as a Hilton Rewards member. The bathroom had a walk in shower and full sized bottles of toiletries attached to the shower wall. Having a walk-in shower at home, I greatly appreciated this. The bathroom was also a good size. Most hotel bathrooms make me feel claustrophobic, but not this one. Their cleaning staff was prompt and efficient. I love coming back to a straightened room, a made bed and fresh towels. That is all part of vacation experience. The front desk staff was friendly and professional. They made both my check-in and out, very smooth and easy. There's a parking garage next door and I recommend paying for the daily park yourself. You'll not only save $'s, but you wont have to wait for the valet to fetch your ride. When I come back to Columbia for an overnight visit, I'll be staying here again.

We had a suite that included a hot tub and fireplace, fantastic. The pool are is so cute with indoor outdoor accessibility and heated! However, the hot tub was not working. All elevators are in working order. On the downside I felt like the people who run the hotel don't really care about how it looks. There seems to be no pride in what they do. They offer breakfast from 7-10am. We went down at 8:45 and there were empty cereal bins, warming trays, fruit bins. The bananas were unappealing, the waffle maker was broken and the milk fridge was almost empty as well as the coffee creamers. I did not see an attendant for well over 20 minutes. They finally came out with a food to fill an empty bin. I realize that there is a shortage of people willing to work but if you have a job, take pride in it. They way this area looks is a reflection of who is in charge of the area. This is like your restaurant. Greet people, wipe down tables and counters, reorganize things. Though I was glad to have housing for the days I was in Missouri, there was too much going on in this hotel and there was no compensation for the numerous inconveniences. Issues: The free wifi- for majority of our stay, it was out. Didn't work. Then it started popping in and out. I had work to do for my job and couldn't. Very disappointing. Rooms weren't the best regarding being cleaned. Charging ports not all available in rooms-just broken. Lights went out/power went out during breakfast. The continental breakfast was plentiful. The first day, the pancake batter was "sour" and I couldn't eat it. It truly tasted strange. The orange juice was water. Many told the attendants. They pretended to change it. It remained watery. Just reporting my experience. *please see pictures and videos* Pool and hot tub renovations-but it was never shared with the guests. None of the guests. The rooms reserved were reserved in advance-for months. And update to any changes would have been kind. It was never communicated. This was also disappointing. For it to be 2024, to see appliances and such in the rooms that are outdated, or that hasn't been updated in rooms was surprising. It wasn't a horrible time. It just wasn't the best of times. The staff were nice. If i didn't have to, I wouldn't stay here again. My opinion. Blessings

I made a reservation to stay here for a MSHSAA competition. The whole town was booked and prices were high, so this was the best combination of price and location. I was looking forward to staying here with my daughter. The afternoon of the reservation, I got a voicemail. The hotel had flooded (we had a lot of rain in MO) and they could not honor the reservation. I understood this was not personal, but it was incredibly stressful finding a room at the last minute. While the message wasn't rude, and I recognize the clerk was having a VERY bad day, there were a few things she could have done better. For example, if there are other Choice hotels in the region, she should have offered to help transfer the reservation at the same rate. Failing that (since the town was very booked), the default should have been to offer a free night at a future time. Instead, she said, "We're really sorry, but we can't honor your reservation. Good luck. Hope you figure something out." I did get another room at a very inflated last-minute price at the Red Roof (see my other review). Then I contacted Choice Hotels complaint resolution. The process was pretty clunky. First, you really can't submit an online form using an iPhone. It repeatedly gives you an error message. Fortunately, I brought my laptop, and that submitted easily. The response time was great. They got back to me within an hour. Then a lot of back-and-forth ensued. I explained the situation very thoroughly and, upon their request, submitted my Red Roof receipt. Then we wasted time because the rep told me Red Roof wasn't one of theirs, so I should contact THEIR customer service. Um, yeah, I know Red Roof is a different chain. I explained that in the beginning. You're the ones who asked me for their receipt. So it was back to the beginning, explaining the entire thing all over again. Finally, they offered me 4000 points. I looked up their rewards. That gets you halfway to one night in their cheapest hotel. I said no thank you. They immediately doubled the offer and I accepted. So I'm not happy with having my reservation canceled without an automatic offer of compensation, and the complaint resolution was a time-consuming pain. But the resolution team was responsive and polite, if not particularly sharp (I'm sure they were overwhelmed and I wondered if there were language issues). And the final settlement was fair. Upshot: I'm not boycotting Choice Hotels, though if they hadn't landed at a free night, I would have scratched them off my list.
