I had the opportunity to work with Justin Pool out of Vogel Heating and Cooling on an AC/Furnace upgrade project in my home recently. Justin went well and beyond what I expected in terms of detail on the work that would need to be done and what equipment would best fit my home. It is an older home with older ducting and insulation so I appreciate someone taking the time to really study all the options for me and provide the best one. There are a lot of HVAC companies here in STL so it gets tough to choose one when you need work done. Commercial customer. Had decent service in the past. This time service tech didn't tell me or fix anything when he was out there. Sent an email Saying he could reach me by phone. The next day he said he must have dialed the wrong number. Told me it would be $6000 to fix my ac. After talking to a manger they fixed it for $3700 the next day. Called to service my working AC at my other store tech came out and told me $4400-$6400 to fix. I told them to replace the filters and that's it. So they changed me $100 for the filters and $1200 to put them in. 4 hours 2 men at $160/hr. I would recommend you go elsewhere! You can trust these people anymore. read more

Great experience with Vogel! Clay was polite, punctual, informative, professional, & responded within 12-hours of a non-emergency call. I needed a check-up on a 25yo Carrier unit because I felt the unit was blowing "cool" but not cold. I was afraid of a refrigerant leak. For a $129 service charge, Clay ran a full inspection, explained every parameter of the readings, and ultimately determined the unit was performing as it should. Excellent customer service with no pushy up-sell. Money well spent! read more

I needed 5 runs of ductwork (approx. 80 sq feet) installed for my HVAC system in my basement. The old ductwork was asbestos wrapped and had been removed by a separate asbestos abatement company. Vogel was a great company to deal with from start to finish. Grant came out for the estimate. He was knowledgeable, helpful and polite. The technician who performed the work was also very professional. Their price (about $890) was very fair and $300 cheaper than the next closest estimate I received. I had the work done pursuant to a stipulation for the sale of my home. Vogel went above and beyond to make sure I had the documentation for the job that I needed for closing. I will use them at my new home for any HVAC needs that arise. read more

AC wasn't cooling. They promptly came out and their tech was courteous and knowledgeable but they charged me $240 for a motor run capacitor (a $15 or $20 part) which took about 10 minutes or less to install in addition to the $119 diagnostic fee. I could have and should have purchased and installed the part myself. What a rip off! read more

I talked to the BBB again on 21 Jun 21 and was not only Tod the complaint could not be reopened but that Vogel had actually made other demands not expressed to me. Recently, I have also attempted to get a refund through the Missouri Attorney General's office. No particular results except that Mr. Vogel basically repeated the offer he appeared to make in his last BBB offer (never received by me). I accepted and so there is now proof he wants more: He wands my silence and to buy a good reputation as I believe he's done before. read more

Called the emergency line last night, our air went out and we have 4 kids and animals. The temp in the house got to 95, the lady said a tech would contact us and we would be charged around 160 dollars. We told her that was fine and then never received a call from anyone. We purchased our A/C and furnace from Vogel a few years back. Unfortunately a part went bad in our A/C unit. The part was covered under warranty but the labor was not covered. I was dissatisfied as the labor was going to cost 800 dollars. Vogel management called me back and said they would cover the part and labor. Had a new furnace and A/C installed. The good: 1. Estimate was prompt (several other companies didn't even bother after they looked at the job) 2. Furnace works alright 3. They took a credit card for this very expensive project allowing me to earn cash back from the credit card company 4. They got the proper permits from the city The bad: 1. Did not install the size of A/C that was bid (they put in a smaller unit to save the cost of installing larger lines, which was presumably part of the bid) 2. Had to pay for a crane when the A/C unit they installed was so small it was not necessary 3. They took my old smart thermostat without even asking if I wanted it back--I have other places I could have used it 4. The "smart" thermostat (Daikin) is worthless--much worse than the one they too 5. The 12 year warranty was not properly explained. I will apparently have to pay every year for a service agreement to keep it in effect 6. I was not provided with a copy of the contract before they started work even though I asked for it 7. Salesman promised a lot but never put it in writing so I have no recourse 8. Still have not received the lien waiver I requested and was promised would be sent. 9. There has been no follow up to see if I'm satisfied (hit: I'm not) Bottom line: They do a decent job but get everything in writing before they start. Everything. Tell them if you don't want them to take your old thermostat (although I think it is really presumptuous to assume you don't want it). Be prepared to pay a lot. read more

We used Vogel to replace our furnace and air conditioner and add a whole-house humidifier. They were one of the only companies to do a complete system verification to identify areas of concern regarding air flow, supply, static pressure, etc. They are not a "come in and quote you in 5 minutes" kind of company, but we were very impressed with their attention to detail and their interest in doing what was best for us and our home. Dennis, Jason, Grant and Joe were all wonderful throughout the whole process from evaluations, pricing and installation. Everyone at Vogel has been extremely friendly, professional, courteous and incredibly thorough. We're very pleased with the energy efficiency of the equipment they proposed and how quickly they were able to get our system installed. read more

Zach from Vogel Direct Heating and Air came and did an amazing job with helping us fix and replace our thermometer so that we could have AC. He came quickly and was very friendly. Turns out the previous owners took their nice thermometer and left us with a rinky dink cheapo one that only gives heat. He was able to figure out the problem and fix it fast so that our house could cool down from the 79° F it was at. read more

Steve explained everything that was going on and went over the new unit, humidifier and the thermostat to make sure that I totally understood. I made attempt to install a wifi thermostat, and because of the wiring I had in my house, it was a little beyond my knowledge base, so it was time to call in the professionals. I can always count on Vogel to answer the call and do their best to accommodate my needs. Jesse showed up to my house in the time frame given and had everything running in no time with a cold spell coming on. Jesse took the time to give me some pointers on running the thermostat and even assisted in the programming, something that I did not expect. We had our 25-year-old house vents thoroughly cleaned by this company. To our knowledge, this had never been done. It was not a cheap adventure by any means, however, I highly recommend this company. I explained to them that I had an extremely difficult cat allergy and that they were not to bring into our house any equipment that may have "cat" residue. The technician double checked with his boss and there was no problem with meeting my special request. My vents are clean and the tech even showed the photos that he took to my husband. It was unreal how much "stuff" was cleaned out and some of it landed into our filter (which was replaced as well). Yep, good job-highly recommend, if you have the money to do this. read more

Our boiler needed to be replaced, and Vogel came in with a bid about $1,000 less than the next competitor, and offered to replace more parts than the others. They were very professional and accommodating to my schedule. The sales rep showed up to make sure I felt comfortable leaving the house with the staff working. The installation looked great, and I was patiently given a tour of the boiler mechanics. The next day, the motor in the boiler leaked, but a quick call to my sales rep had someone out in a jiffy to fix the issue. We're very very pleased with this company, and highly recommend it to anyone. read more

I signed up for a service agreement with Vogel and I'm glad I did. They usually send out the same technician and he does a great job, working quickly and answering any questions. I scheduled them to come to my house and check the furnace prior to me using it this Fall. I showed the technician the furnace in the basement. Shortly thereafter i heard a noise downstairs. Then i heard it again and again. So i went downstairs to see what he was doing. He had drilled several holes in my furnace's duct work! I asked him what he was doing. He said he was checking out my furnace. I told him i just wanted it checked for winter before i use it (like i do each year for safety). He said he was told to do what he was doing and that he wasn't going to stop until he completed what he was told to do. I again asked him to stop drilling. I told him I did not call to have that done and that he should call his work to get it straightened out. Again he said he was going to finish what he was told to do. I told him he was finished as far as I was concerned and I told him to leave my house. He did leave and he slammed the door when he left. I had a friend at the house visiting at the time when he was here and she saw all of it too. Poor communication, poor customer service. Scary guy. I will never use them again. If I could give them zero stars I would. read more
