As far as I'm concerned, there is no better colorist on the planet than Holly. I discovered her about 5 years ago when a co-worker came in with the most amazing weave. I had stopped doing highlights for several years because I grew to dislike the overly saturated and synthetic salon highlight look. But this co-worker looked like a celebrity! Her highlights were so magically random, natural, and multi-dimensional. In any case, for various other reasons I decided to go back to my more solid brunette with fewer, more selective highlights. Holly rocks this too! A key consideration is that Holly is a true color artist and master chemist without any particular brand allegiance. She develops a customized recipe compatible to your lifestyle, unlimited by the constrains of what is possible within only one product line, i.e. Loreal, Wella, etc. She is also highly conscientious about designing a color strategy that can sustain the health of your hair over time. This is important, as mine is quite long. She is highly experienced and yet wonderfully personable and casual. As far as I'm concerned, she's the Northwest's best kept secret for colorists. I don't live in Lynnwood, but what she offers makes it very much worth the drive. I almost bemoan the day when she gets fully "discovered" and her appointment schedule becomes harder to get into :-) read more

This review is for Makayla Richardson. Almost two years ago, I went to another salon and had them cut my hair, they did such a horrible job, that I had to wait for over 9 months to get my hair cut again, both because it took that long to grow back and because I was afraid to let anyone cut my hair. I first saw Makayla when she worked for another salon and she was the first person to cut my hair after my bad experience. I explained to her what happened and actually had my daughter stand there and oversee (not that Makayla needed to be overseen, but because I was a nervous wreck). Makayla did not object and was VERY patient and accepting of my concerns/fears. I loved the way she cut my hair and I have not gone to anyone else since. I refuse to let anyone else cut or color my hair. She is wonderful and I will tell anyone who needs a new stylist to go to Makayla. I had originally give a great review when I first started using this salon back in 2013. I subsequently quit going. Although I really like Julie and I like what she did for my hair, there were too many times that I set an appointment for a particular time on a Saturday (usually the first appointment) to get there and the doors would still be locked and I be calling to see when she was going to show up. Many times I got another person that I think may be the co-owner that would answer and say she thought she should be there soon. My time is valuable and I just couldn't keep having that situation. I unfortunately won't be going back. The reason I wrote this now is I referred to it in another review I wrote for another Salon that I then started using and had waited for a awhile to write a review to see if their good service was going to hold the test of time and it has. This is MY first Yelp review which I felt compelled to write after reading a negative review about Salon En Vogue. I absolutely love Holly. I went to many professional hair stylist over the years and I never really liked my hair. When I walked in to the Salon En Vogue I hated my hair and was frustrated because I figured it was going to be another one of those awkward conversations where I kinda know what I want but have no clue on how to communicate it to the stylist. Or the other frustration of having the stylist try to have me envision their idea, me going along with it, then wearing a hat until it grows out again. Holly has a way of adapting your personality, your daily preening habits, and your facial characteristics into your own PERSONAL STYLE. Anna Gregory really is AS GOOD AS IT GETS @ Salon En Vogue! ( yes all those caps were needed ) She really takes time to listen to what you want and makes it happen. I have been with Anna for the last 3 years and shes so good! I drove from Renton, WA at one point just to get my hair trimmed to Lynnwood, WA ( a 45 min drive plus )! I love my hair a lot, having long luscious black hair, it really is hard to find someone that takes that same care and TLC to it ( all you long haired ladies and gents know what I'm talking about! ). And she has this great ability to take your idea that isn't exactly clear, and make it clear and have a strong vision. Hence why I was ESTATIC to find Anna @ Salon En Vogue. The prices are more than reasonable and you honestly get the best deal in town. I HIGHLY recommend if you love your hair and want the BEST OF THE BEST treatment for it :D!!! read more

I will never see anyone else! Anna has been cutting my hair for a few years now, and I just love her. After going to several overpriced salons in the past that never really met the mark on what I wanted, I found Anna and she has saved me! I have thick wavy hair, but she always manages to layer it perfectly, so that it isn't flipping in every direction. She listens to what I want; I even bring in pictures because I am very picky on what I like and don't like. Her patience with me is great, as I tend to be the client that wont leave until my bangs are the "perfect" length. The salon is a little tricky to find since the entrance is in the back of the building, but once you walk in, it is a really cute little space. Overall, Anna does an incredible job. I was impressed when I got my hair highlighted / colored by Julie. I had already done my research about colorists in the area because I really had one particular hair color in mind. I'm dark brunette naturally but I wanted to recreate this golden brown hue I had in a picture from back when for a summer look. My hair takes on red tones so I wanted to make absolutely sure I wouldn't leave the salon with orange hair. That would be God aweful.....So, I relied of reviews from Yelp and brought me to this Salon. I got Julie to do it and it turned out perfect! I was totally happy when I left. Anna is THE BEST! No question. She listens to what you want and does exactly that. The two problems I've had going to previous stylists was 1) They never colored all of my roots so it looked like it wasn't even done, and/or 2) They cut off more then I ask!!! Anna does neither, she covers all your roots, the color doesn't bleed, she gets the color you ask for and she only trims that amount you want, nothing more. That is critical for the ones that are trying to grow out their hair! Not to mention she styles hair so good so you leave her chair feeling so confident. I just love her. Besides her talent, she is the sweetest thing ever. I have sent a few of my friends to her and they have all been very happy with her too. If you want your hair done right, go to Anna!!! Anna at Salon En Vogue is the best stylist ever! I have been going to her for years, and I have always had an above and beyond experience. She is such a gem and really has the perfect touch with hair. I do not trust anyone else with my hair, period! She always cuts and colors it exactly how I ask her. I recently went from dark brown long hair to a blonde bob! She did such an excellent job and I get comments on my hair almost daily. Julie was wonderful and helped me get my hair done on a much sooner date. During the time of my visit I showed her a picture of a haircut and highlight that I really liked. She took the time to explain to me what she thought would be the best for me.. when she was done... I absolutely loved it! I actually talked with her a few times after to let her know how happy I was... Julie, is one that listens to what you would like done and one who can take a picture, re-create that cut on your hair. This review is more for Makayla than the salon. I am 30 years old and had never gone to the same hair stylist twice until Makayla did my hair. I've rarely been pleased with hair cuts or coloring until she started doing my hair. Now I love it and even MONTHS after getting it done, people still compliment me on it! She has the magic touch...I don't spend a lot of time on my hair and make-up and the way that she cuts/colors it, I can keep that low maintenance and still have it look great on a day-to-day basis. I moved to Lynnwood several months ago and needed a new stylist. I went to see Julie and she was amazing!!! She was super knowledgable about color and I got exactly what I wanted from my foil, and the cut is amazing as well. I went back to get a root touchup and wanted to alter the color slightly by adding some golden tones, and she nailed it again. I always feel like she understands exactly what I want, which has not always been true for me at other salons. I highly recommend Julie for both cut and color. I have very long, layered hair that I dye in an ever changing mix of purples, blues, and pinks. It isn't everyone's cup of tea, but, for me, it is perfection, and she gets it right every time! And she cuts the best layers I have ever found, which for hair as long as mine, is not something every stylist has perfected. The salon itself is very cozy and pleasant, yet my primary reason for going there is because of the fantastic work Makayla does. She not only provides a great atmosphere while the work is being done but she is also a great at help when deciding on creative hair ideas that actually look great. I have been coming to Anna for about 5 years! It all started when I woke up to my daughter cutting off my highlights from the light of the television, with cuticle scissors, yeah that happened! Julie is AMAZING. Both for cuts and dying/hair treatments. I called her last summer after a bad bleach job at a nearby salon, and she worked magic on it, amazing me and my friends. I've always been brunette and I wanted to go blond for once just to see what it was like. My review is based on the service... it was not good. I came in asking for money pieces and a calico under neath. The owners daughter did my hair, mostly.... It was supposed to be an estimated 3-4 hour appointment, hourly color correction is how she wanted to charge me. I was fine with that after our consultation and she explained why. So first part fine, I just sat there talking. But when she finishes rinsing the color and toner, I stared in the mirror and just as she was looking at it she got quiet. She started showing me and I just started crying. I was 3 hours into my appointment and my money pieces were yellow. The calico was supposed to be blonde, red, and brown. It was yellow, pink, and brown. She said she didn't know why the red didn't take. I had to walk out to collect myself. I came in a minute later and they offered to tone it more and add more red. Now we were past the 4 hours. She had other appointments coming in and I had to sit and wait in between customers. The owner (her mom) came and helped between but I ended up sitting there for 6 hours in total. My hair was still nothing like any of the photos. I just wanted to leave so I said that was fine. I didn't want to keep waiting between other clients because she didn't leave enough time to work on my hair. I never took photos of the final color result because I hated it so much, wish I did now. The stylist did take a photo to show me the back at the end of the appointment,but I never got one. But now about 5 weeks later I decided to get it fixed, and I was shocked! This new stylist asked who did my hair and where because the cut was so bad and jagged and absolutely chopped in the back. I obviously don't look at the back of my head very much so I had no idea. I walked around like this for weeks with not a clue. I paid HUNDREDS of dollars and even left a tip because I felt it was a genuine interaction. She just doesn't know how to do hair is really the only thing I can figure at this point. She did offer to fix it but she didn't say for free so I wasn't going to come back and pay more money when it was already a very bad experience. Why would I trust you to fix it? During the consultation I told them both I had a very bad experience with someone a few months prior and I was nervous to try another salon. I trusted them and they sounded confident... I don't know about the other stylists but I do not recommend the daughter to do cuts or color. (I forgot her name)

And especially with Peyton there have been times I told her to just do what she thought would look good and I've always been blown away and thrilled with the results. They also both excel at cutting wavy and curly hair--and making me feel good about my waves, rather than just straightening them out all the time. Most recently (July 2024) they did a balayage on my virgin hair. It was something they've both recommended to me for years, but that I was nervous about. Still, I wanted to try something new this summer and go lighter as I've always kind of wanted to go blonde. But I was worried about the color coming out too cool and clashing with my natural warm skin tone and freckles, so I asked for a golden, strawberry blonde. They got the color exactly right!!! I'm so happy with it and it looks really natural. Two months later, I'm still getting compliments on it at my job. For anyone wondering about the salon itself, it's very clean and has a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. They use Kevin Murphy products which are excellent. For me, it was a basic wash and cut, but I talked about my lifestyle and how I don't have a lot of time to fuss with my hair, and she made sure to give me something that would be easy to style (honestly, I wash my hair and let it air dry and it looks great). She was a joy to work with, knowledgable, and so nice. I immediately felt welcomed and at ease. Looking forward to visiting again!
